Reviews for Palazzo Ducale Suites

Review 1:Well above expected from a BB. Would say it rates at the very top in my travels. On line with top star allocation. Staff really helpful and dedicated.

Review 2:Great location in the center of the city, management helped us well in finding a parking spot. Spacious suites, nice & clean bathroom. The small breakfast buffet also included rolls with meat&cheese as none-sweet options.

Review 3:In such a touristy place the staff at the reception were unable to speak anything than Italian. Accessing the hotel by car to drop off the luggage is a real challenge, don't book a limo... The private parking proposed is at the other side of the city, completely useless, though a (much cheaper) public parking is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. As of 04:30 am the street along our room became noisy despite the closed windows. Does the excellent wifi explain such a high score ?

Review 4:Good but...

Review 5:The suite was superbly designed and laid on several levels, - bathroom, bedroom, living room, terrace. It felt like an oasis of swish city living. Breakfast was fine on nicely laid tables on a terrace. Hotel manager was extremely pleasant and helpful. Proximity to cathedral amazing.

Review 6:The only shame was the the mini fridge was not cold and the drinks a little pricey (for Sicily), so we gave them a miss, but no biggie.

Review 7:We stayed here on the first night of our holiday - we received a warm and charming welcome from the gentleman on reception, who informed us that we had been bumped up from a double room to a suite at no extra cost. Despite the fact that I gleaned that he spoke good English, he politely went along with my efforts to communicate in (pretty poor) Italian and was friendly and helpful from start to finish. The room was lovely with a wonderful terrace - and the hotel is centrally located. We were late for breakfast because I had misunderstood what was said to me, but the lady behind the bar happily made us both coffee and let us help ourselves to a pastry. All-in-all a great start to our holiday. We would highly recommend this place.

Review 8:Breakfast was below standard in terms of choice and presentation. It disappointed us. Staff were helpful in making us good coffee, but we expected more at breakfast from a room costing €100 per night. The sofa in our room had two sizeable stains on it, so we did not really feel comfortable sitting on it.

Review 9:Spacious suite, very modern and good; but bathroom was a little small and the glass bowl for a wash basin was big on interior design but small on practical utility. Good location in centre of old town, if a little difficult to find on one's own without faultless help from owner who met us in the square beside the duomo, found paid parking for the car and led us on foot to the appartment.

Review 10:I didn't like the fact that during breakfast two of my friends had to run to their rooms to bring their ID cards. The staff had all the previous day to get the personal documents and necessary details.Tthey didn't have to disturb us during the breakfast time.

Review 11:I liked the spacious, cosy and comfortable room. The breakfast was very good - a lot of products to choose from. The location perfect - it is close to the centre and to the best pizzeria in the world Toto. The owner was very helpful - he helped me with the internet and with the taxi.

Review 12:Beds are too soft.

Review 13:We stayed for one night in April and the host upgraded us to the suite - which was very spacious (over 2 levels) and renovated. The beds were too soft for our liking but the room was quiet. they even provided bedroom slippers with the hotel logo. Location was central but its a small town anyway. The B&B is located off a pedestrian only street and parking was tricky -you would have to park some 200-300m away and walk in with your luggage- no drop off point. Breakfast was very average.

Review 14:Two inexpensive parking lots at walking distance, but you cannot be sure you will find parking in the morning hours. Or rather, be sure you wont be able to find parking in the morning hours.

Review 15:Extremely spacious room, modern and ultra clean.

Review 16:Central location, close to the cathedral, but in a quiet side alley. Very comfortable, very friendly and professional front desk. Would stay there again any time!

Review 17:Suites are split level so some bathrooms are a few stairs up or down from the bedroom so be careful during the night or ask for a room with them on the same level which we did.

Review 18:On a narrow old street there is a very newly renovated modern surprise. We were there in February but it was still an amazing bargain. Excellent location. Parking nearby.

Review 19:The rain and snow didn't help our holiday but we were told it was the worst for10 years. Therefore we were slightly cold in the room, but just flung a duvet over us, when we were sat down. Sicillians also need to sort out their rubbish collection as the streets were worse than in India, but one of that could detract from a great place to stay!

Review 20:Arrived late but a call to Danielle and he was there immediately. He helped us with our bags, got our car parked and even managed to call a local pizzaria called pepers for a table for us, which was very welcome as we thought it would be too late. The room was very comfy, the breakfast really nice pastries and freshly squeezed juice. Very helpful staff Excellent all round. Took bus into Palermo from just beside duomo which was definitely better than driving in.!

Review 21:Not a criticism of the place itself, but getting to the place by car using the GPS can be "interesting".

Review 22:Centrally located. Clean, modern style accommodation in characterful old building. Outstanding, friendly service. Great value for money. Highly recommended!

Review 23:A very convenient hotel with good facilities, breakfast, tea and coffee making facilities. Very comfortable. There is cheap parking nearby - streets are very narrow in Monreale so it is best to get a small hire car. There was a good inexpensive bus into Palermo from a nearby stop.

Review 24:You have to take note of the limited bus service between Palermo and Monreale. Hard to find hotel. Hotel could provide clear instructions for people arriving by bus. Car parking a problem as hotel is in a pedestrianised area.

Review 25:Hotel is just 3 or 4 minutes walk away from the Cathedral and the bus stop for Palermo. The hotel organises transport directly to the airport, so you do not have to return to Palermo. It was lovely to use Monreale as a base for 3 nights, going into Palermo for one day. Daniele was very helpful. Margaret and Pamela UK and USA

Review 26:As others have mentioned the parking is a little difficult, but Daniele is more than happy to help you find a park and even take your car to a car park and then fetch it for you also if you need him too. Apart from that there isn't much to dislike about Palazzo Ducale Suites!

Review 27:The location is fantastic to explore Monreale with many fabulous restaurants within walking distance. Daniele was extremely welcoming and helpful in terms of parking our hire car (which can be difficult to do on your own in Monreale). He even went out of his way to walk to where my husband and I had parked on the side of the road when we were lost trying to find the place and walked us back to the accommodation and then also took our car for us and parked it for the night. Our room was brilliant and we couldn't believe the size of it for the price, especially being in Italy - fantastic value. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend staying here! 10 out of 10!

Review 28:Inability to get there on our own with GPS! Wandered for quite a while.

Review 29:Comfortable beds and excellent bathroom facilities. Lovely Breakfast room with nice patio to sit on when weather's good, and excellent breakfast.

Review 30:Streets, approach to hotel is on a pedestrian only street which apparently doesn't matter to the Italians. Street where hotel located may, if u r very good , allow 2 cars side by side

Review 31:Everything except driving into Monreale

Review 32:Hard to get there

Review 33:Location is great, the staff are friendly, good breakfast, the room is comfortable and well organized , clean hotel. Daniel, the owener is very friendly.

Review 34:breakfast was a bit meagre, but after so much food that was not a bad thing either.I got what I needed for a long drive.

Review 35:location (avoid Palermo) room quality (superb) dedicated, courteous, friendly and genuinely helpful management great restaurant recommendations

Review 36:We had stayed at the Palazzo Ducale Suites before in February 2013 and were impressed then and so we wanted to return to give ourselves a bit of luxury before returning to the UK. We were not disappointed and in fact the subtle changes Daniele has made over the past year enhanced the experience. We had suite 105 and the terrace was superb for the late afternoon and early evening sun. Daniele is very ambitious and with his plans for opening a restaurant (shame the on-site garage had to be sacrificed) and more rooms we wish him every success. Regarding parking – this is an Italian town so parking is never going to be simple so just go with the flow. Daniele drove our car for us to a very convenient car park nearby which cost us very little.

Review 37:Nada

Review 38:Think of any aspect of your stay and assume excellent outcomes.

Review 39:Dreadful breakfast overseen by incompetent staff.

Review 40:Stylish rooms. Good central location in Monreale.

Review 41:Convenient location

Review 42:Big rooms, clean, modern

Review 43:Car parking in Monreale is a nightmare!

Review 44:Nice modern rooms.

Review 45:Nothing.

Review 46:Helpful staff who showed us where to park and then helped us down with baggage. Lovely large suite.

Review 47:Friendly staff, clean and excellent location!

Review 48:Everything

Review 49:Daniele, the host is the best! His hospitatlity is extraordinary good. Rooms are great. And the breakfast is delicious.

Review 50:Parking can be hard to find

Review 51:The location is great, well maintained facility

Review 52:Staff kind and available. Excellent rooms for the price!

Review 53:Nothing

Review 54:Clean, helpful, location location and a lift no stairs........

Review 55:Leaving!

Review 56:Beautiful room, try to book the suite with the sauna

Review 57:Parking is 10 minute walk away and hard to find. Little English spoken.

Review 58:Location.

Review 59:Fantastic

Review 60:nothing

Review 61:Great value, friendly people, lovely building, beautiful town

Review 62:Daniele was very helpfull much above his duties

Review 63:Loved the location. Staff very friendly & helpful. Pleasant breakfast room or balcony.

Review 64:All was fine.

Review 65:Great location, friendly staff in this very pleasant city. The lady serving breakfast was very friendly. Tip: park the car at (one of) the nearby public parkings, only have to pay at certain hours (to the parking attendant) and is very cheap. You can pay in advance for the next day as well.

Review 66:Little room outside. The staff did not speak english, except one.

Review 67:Nice room, quiet. One of the staff drove with me to the Parking (which was overpriced, but necessary)

Review 68:locating the premises off a pedestrian street. After following one way system to Centro this pedestrian street is turn right at the Greengrocer then stop opposite second greengrocer and walk down between greengrocer and excellent bakery. The owner then arranges to take the car to the parking lot for €20 a day, and brings it back when you leave. Alternative parking in Monreale is non existent.

Review 69:pretty well everything was excellent except final location of the premises off pedestrian street and car park costs. The actual location, when found, was superb - right at the centre of things, plenty of good restaurants ( Bricco & Bracco excellent) and the Duomo within 200m and the bus to Palermo a tad further the other way with tickets from Tabac at top of street

Review 70:There is nothing that could have improved the enjoyment of our stay!

Review 71:Everything - in particular the amazing hospitality of Danielle. Every time we arrived in the street with our car he would appear as if by magic to help us to park. His recommendations for dinner were spot on. The location is great - close to the beautiful cathedral and the apartment was well furnished and quiet. We much preferred the authenticity of Monreale to the noise and chaos of Palermo. I am a regular visitor to Italy and this was the best hotel I have experienced.

Review 72:The hotel could be spruced up a bit.

Review 73:Conveniently located, once you find it. Monreale is a charming town. We had difficulty locating the hotel, and folks in the street helped us out. Staff parked the car. Very friendly and helpful.

Review 74:This was truly the Duke's Palace! Three levels of luxury starting with a large bathroom with a spa shower, then up to a large bedroom with a king size bed, then up to a living room with sofa and chair and an outside patio. Huge breakfast on the patio, courteous and friendly staff- Daniele comes out to meet you and parks your car in his very tight garage; great location for shopping and sightseeing.

Review 75:Difficult to access by car. There was a kettle in the room but no cups or any other cutlery for preparation of hot drinks. Breakfast could've been prepared and presented with more care.

Review 76:Daniele's assistance regarding parking and parking facility itself; Spacious room.

Review 77:Streets narrow but help readily provided.

Review 78:Director Daniele was very helpful in all ways especially in locating the suites and garaging the car.Nicely renovated multi- level suite well equipped and with a sizeable terrace. Close to the centre of Monreale.

Review 79:A couple of very minor points: A little difficult to find but we asked a gentleman in the main square who got in the car and kindly directed us. The shower head was fixed too high for this (admittedly small) person to reach and adjust.

Review 80:Very tastefully decorated and furnished, these suites are ideally situated for visiting the cathedral of Monreale and the sights of Palermo. Good breakfast in airy room or terrace. The owner is very helpful if asked and adept at reversing a car down the side street and into the garage area (and driving it out again), an expertise we were glad to make use of.

Review 81:Everything was fine.

Review 82:Ultra modern, beautifully arranged apartments, lovely bathroom with quality installation, excellent fresh produce for delicious breakfast on terrace overlooking garden and town, close to Cathedral and local restaurants. Owner Daniel extremely helpful with suggestions for sightseeing, and local quality dining, gave advice regarding road directions - a delightful experience.

Review 83:Parking is a little difficult to get into but Daniel assists. Best to have a smaller car

Review 84:Daniele was so obliging Room the biggest we have had in the whole of Sicily The cathedral is the best in Sicily Breakfast area is superb This is a good base to see Palermo. Bus is easy

Review 85:The location is excellent, very central but quiet. The suites are contemporary, spacious, stylish, well equipped and comfortable. Staff were friendly, discreet and very helpful. There is a secure car park under the building.

Review 86:The staff were friendly and helpful. As mentioned, the indoor parkingwas a good value. It is an easy walk to the center of town and weenjoyed people watching and soaking in the local atmosphere. Thebreakfast was excellent and the staff were very accommodating with ourrequests for extra cappuccino!! The director Daniele was welcoming andhelpful. We had a nice deck and were able to relax after walkingaround the town.

Review 87:It is a very wonderful hotel. The staff are very polite. They helped us were They cold. The romms are beautiful. We can recommend ist. If we go to Monreal again, we want to stay there again. With a fewstps you are in the amazing dome.

Review 88:Nothing everything was perfect

Review 89:The owner Daniele and his staff were very friendly and helpful. The apartment was beautifully furnished bright and airy. It is very convenient for visiting Palermo and Monreale is a very historic town it has one excellent restaurant which was recommended by Daniele.

Review 90:The mattresses were incredibly uncomfortable and need replacing. Besides that, I would rate it very highly and would be more than happy to return.

Review 91:The owners were very helpful and made us very welcome. The room was clean and well presented.

Review 92:Its location in the middle of Monreale with its very narrow streets. Indeed, help of the kind owner to park the car in the garage is no luxury at all.

Review 93:Value for money in all respects.

Review 94:Nothing other than 10EU parking fee!

Review 95:Very modern and clean hotel, family run and friendly helpful staff with nice breakfast! Owner will personally park your car for you in protected garage! (10EU fee) Very eco friendly suite w/ separate living room area! Great location!

Review 96:Very hard to find, even with satnav, since in heart of congested towncentre. Located down narrow street. Need help in parking car in garage.Ok for one night or person without car but otherwise a bit inconvenientas base for visiting places.

Review 97:Stylish design, very spacious, separate lounge, bedroom and bathroom (onthree levels so not good if disabled) plus balcony. Pleasant breakfastroom with excellent range of choice and good coffe. Great attention todetail by owners. Close to beautiful cathedral of Monreale. Owner veryskilled and obliging over manoeuvring car into secure free garage space.

Review 98:The traffic...but tht is not the fault of the hotel.

Review 99:Efficient and friendly director, who parked my car in the hotel'sprivate garage. The Euro 10.- extra for this service was well spent.Great rooms, even hot towels in the bathroom. The cathedral isfantastic, go and see it!

Review 100:All was good, so no complaints

Review 101:Good accommodation close to the centre of Monreale and especially theDuomo. Daniele was very helpful with car parking etc. Everyone was nice.

Review 102:Really good place to stay- just outside Palermo but interesting town in its own right. The suite was really comfortable and we appreciated the sitting room after a long day walking around Palermo.

Review 103:We visited out of season - Easter holidays and the town shut at 8.30 so there was nowhere to be in the evening after dinner. Very unlike Italian towns. The hotel needs some driving instructions as its quite a maze of streets! They were very helpful when I got lost!

Review 104:Great staff and great location for visiting Palermo and surrounding area.

Review 105:Our host was warm and friendly and very helpful especially with the car on the narrow streets of Monreale. The sunny breakfast room was a great bonus

Review 106:Very easy to find and the on-site parking was simple and efficient. The room was spacious, well equiped and had everything we needed. The location was ideal for access to restaurants and the Cathedral. We would go back anytime we were in the area.

Review 107:Parking can be a problem. Private parking at 20 EUR a day is a bit expensive

Review 108:A spacious apartment with a lovely balcony

Review 109:-garage not available at that time but the staff managed to find an alternative -design but impersonal

Review 110:very kind staff excellent location

Review 111:Breakfast was out quite early, they didn't resupply the buffet with the basics..

Review 112:Loads of space

Review 113:Very close to Duomo. Kind staff, good breakfast, very clean. Parked our car in their garage. Couldn't be better.

Review 114:Great location, very helpful staff, the decoration of the place is beautiful. It was much more than our expectaions, great experience and great time.

Review 115:The service was superb. Very friendly and helpful. The position was excellent and a lovely place to stay.

Review 116:Staff extremely friendly & helpful.Suites spacious & modern.Very good value for money.

Review 117:Exceptional service

Review 118:very gentle people!!

Review 119:The owner and the staff went above and beyond. Clean, comfortable, indoor parking, nice breakfast. Could not ask for more. Great value.

Review 120:A little difficult to find but worth the effort!
