Reviews for Castello Di Gargonza

Review 1:Getting there at night in the fog was a little scary, but we made it!

Review 2:This whole place was amazing. Everyone that worked there was friendly and welcoming. It was like staying at someone's home. We stayed in Peitrino, which was up a flight of stairs and had a two stories inside. It was beautiful. Our room had a fireplace and a little kitchenette. It was incredibly clean - the bath room was nice and the room was perfect for the two of us. Big bead and a dresser for hanging and folding clothes. We couldn't have asked for anything better. There is a common room with a fireplace and bar, you have access to that room all the time with a key. The wifi works best in that room too. The breakfast room is also in the common room, downstairs - and it was one of the best things about the castle. The gals working there baked amazing tarts and pastries and make you fresh coffee while you enjoy your breakfast. We had dinner at their restaurant both nights, which was wonderful. Fresh pasta and wonderful ambiance. We explored the entire castle one day, which was so cool. I highly recommend just walking the whole castle, exploring rooms and reading all of the pictures on the wall. It's really like going back in time. We asked about some history, and they were happy to tell us where the old school was and some other fun facts. This place was everything we could ask for in our two nights in Tuscany.

Review 3:No staff were at the property overnight, and since we were some of the only guests there, it felt a bit spooky!

Review 4:The staff were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. They took good care of us. The property was beautifully maintained and manicured; there were many lovely places to sit and enjoy the quiet and the views. The in-room fireplace was also great.

Review 5:The entire experience was wonderful!

Review 6:Amazing medival castle nestled amongst viniards and panoramic views. Staff gave us a larger room than expected and a natural fire was set and ready for us. You can spend a day exploring the castle and grounds, even find the family cemetary. Wonderful products on sale from beauty products to books. Fantastic breakfast and I cannot put into words the dinner and lunch meals! Overall a unique and wonderful stay at very reasonable price. Get to know the neighbors as well, amazing people we discovered a few minutes away at a local viniard.

Review 7:No bad experiences but if we had not been fit and able travelers it might have been hard to get around the property and to the restaurant.

Review 8:This was a wonderful experience. It is a beautiful location and an amazing property. It's not everyday you can stay at a 13th century walled little town! The room was very comfortable, the restaurant was very nice and the people friendly. The breakfast was excellent and the food at the restaurant was also excellent, with good wine recommendations and atmosphere.

Review 9:We loved everything about it here. The room was great... clean and comfortable. The restaurant was fabulous! The morning meals were HUGE! The location is out of this world. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Review 10:A truly remarkable place steeped in history in an incredible location. It was a privilege to stay here and we will definitley like to return one day. Very warm and friendly owners and staff with a fabulous breakfast!

Review 11:I liked everything, the only reason why I put WiFi problem is that I very specificely had asked for a room with WiFi and a terrace and the hotel on the phone promised me a room with a beautiful view, good WiFi and a terrace when we arrived it turned out we got a different room, they did offer an other one with WiFi but not the room we requested, we did indeed have a beautiful room in the end, but no WiFi in the room or terrace which was a shame. I could use the public area's and it worked well but I would have preferred it in our room. Also, the staff in the restaurant was not friendly at all, not one little smile, maybe they had a bad hairday but we didn't return because of it.

Review 12:Everything of the hotel was stunning, very very special and beautiful place! Grounds, room, breakfast, location, swimming pool.

Review 13:Pillows a bit hard.

Review 14:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Good breakfast. Restaurant on site for evening meals and the fact it was not expensive. The thoughtfulness with which the village had been restored.

Review 15:We didn't feel that it was suited to families with younger children, especially babies as the cobbled paths made it difficult to access all areas. Perhaps it would be better suited to children over 12, and it would have been more peaceful around the pool if this had been the case. There are limited facilities for children.

Review 16:Not only was the location peaceful the properties had been tastefully renovated. The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The restaurant was not only frequented by residents at the hotel but also by locals, and provided high quality dishes. Located between some of the more touristy towns there is also plenty to see in some of the smaller and less known villages. The staff were always available to make recommendations on places to visit and restaurants in other towns. We would definitely stay again.

Review 36:Entire setting is wonderful! Our room was cozy and comfortable. Restaurant served very good food. Morning breakfast in a wonderful setting with a lovely, helpful waitress.

Review 37:The restaurant was closed.

Review 38:We were the only guests. The staff were amazing, and helpful, the restaurant was closed and we were told of a place down the road or a coop in the near town, we had a small kitchen and an open fire, so with food and drink brought and a roaring fire we were set. The next morning Luica was in the make breakfast, for 2.the bread was fresh and a full spread of food and drink. We were told not to rush to leave, what an amazing place, a must

Review 39:Absolutely nothing!

Review 40:Just magical! Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The owners and staff were so helpful and nice. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend to all!

Review 41:This did not bother me, but walking is a bit difficult due to cobblestones and that the castle/village is hilly. No lifts--some rooms on second floor. Restaurant not attached to the castle/village.

Review 42:Beautiful castle--more like a village than a castle. Food superb; staff helpful and friendly. On-site shop. Wonderful views of the countryside. Spacious bedroom with sitting room. Housekeeping superb. Free computer usage (one supplied) including wi-fi. The overall experience of staying there was wonderful!

Review 43:The restaurant is overrated. The food is good but not special. Food presentation a bit off for a location like this.

Review 44:The hotel is excellent overall and a pleasure to stay. If quiet and far from the everyday noise is your thing, you will not find a better place.

Review 45:I liked everything. Dd no want to leave.

Review 46:Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Everyone worked hard and had an excellent attitude. Food at restaurant excellent home made, excellent price for value. Accommodations were beautiful, updated and clean. I will recommend to anyone that wants to come to that area.
