Reviews for Locanda Re Ruggero
Review 1:Poor wifi connection and poor satellite for TV.
Review 2:Great location near the Piazzas and Catedrale of Moreale. Very good pizzeria on bottom floor. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 3:High steps, drainage of shower water was slow, Wifi did not work properly, airco was very very slow in cooling down room
Review 4:clean and spacious room, good location
Review 5:We booked breakfast which is 3 euro per person, they said we will be given a voucher to get the breakfast somewhere in the other place. A cup of coffee and a piece of pastry was served for 3 euro in the caffeteria nearby - not worht for money at all. Better have breakfast in the restaurant inside the hotel or buy it by yourself.
Review 6:The location is excellent - bus stop to Palermo, Catedral, coffees and bars are several minutes away. The staff is very helpfull - Roberta speaks English and helped on every issue, the owner drove our car to park in his private yard for us to feel totally safe. The rooms and bathroom are clean and spacious. The apartment had a small fridge.
Review 7:Driving and parking here is an experience in itself.
Review 8:Monreale is a beautiful place and the welcome we received along with the quality of our accommodation was exceptional.
Review 9:There's NO free public parking (here is written, that there is one). But there is a private parking, acceptable price.
Review 10:Excelent location, good apartament, very helpful staff
Review 11:The most unethical place we have ever stayed at. After checking in, we noticed our room was not the room we booked. Instead of apologetic and helpful, their response was indifferent and rude. Since we were all now sleeping in one bed, we let them know we planned to leave a poor review. They then put our status on Booking as a "no show" so we'd be unable to leave a review. After contacting Booking to remedy this, they told them that we were accommodated in the room booked. To me this flat out lie was an absolutely unbelievably unethical treatment of customers. Makes it easier to understand why they have a high review score if they are willing to cancel bookings that may result in a negative review. Please note that we have traveled to over 40 countries and this is the only bad review we've ever left.
Review 12:Very close to the cathedral. Just a three minute walk. Pleasant stay. Right in the center. The management have very good facilities for parking, as otherwise it would be very difficult to park. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 13:The rooms are situated above the Locanda and the stairs are very steep. As is normal in Italy it can get noisey with the traffic but it didntspoil the overall stay.
Review 14:The staff were great, the Restaurant very typical, food was good.Parking arrangements first class.
Review 15:The cathedral exterior is being restored at the moment so there is unavoidable scaffolding and lots of noise
Review 16:Helpful friendly staff (owners?) who also run the pleasant restaurant beneath
Review 17:The locanda is just around the corner on foot from the main piazza, so the location is terrific for seeing the cathedral and for getting to restaurants. I went with my 88-year-old uncle and the location was perfect for someone who isn't able to walk far. Steps up to the rooms are a bit tricky, however. Very nice bathrooms and rooms, although one room did smell badly of cigarettes. The locanda offers parking, which makes logistics easy once you've arrived in Monreale. Staff was accommodating, although communication was limited to basic English and Italian. At breakfast, if you asked for coffee and juice, they were nice about bringing them, but the service wasn't especially attentive.
Review 18:If you have trouble climbing the steep stairs, ask necessarily room on the first floor.
Review 19:Lokatsiyata.Preporachvam perfect for anyone who wants to visit Palermo, but does not want to be bothered by the noise and stress of the city.
Review 20:We enjoyed very much our one-night stay in Locanda Re Ruggero. The location is excellent, you cannot find a better place to stay in Monreale! You can admire the cathedral from your balcony! The staff is very friendly and helpful, they are always there when you need help, they bring your luggage up the stairs and take your car to a private garage and bring it back when you need it. Perfect wifi connection is available in the room.
Review 21:The steep stairs to the room.
Review 22:The employee, Roberta, took care of all problems we had. She parked our car, brought all our luggage up a steep set of stairs, ran to get us a breakfast, and did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable! The rooms are directly next door to the cathedral. The price is reasonable and the restaurant has good food.
Review 23:We found the hospitality and helpful assistance when in trouble. There is a restaurant on the ground floor of this hotel, where we could enjoy local cuisines, it was delicious! Just next to the Duomo of Monreale. You can see it from the balcony. Staff lady was always taking care of us and even after check-out she took a certain time to solve a problem we came across. We were foreign tourists coming by car and it was uncommon for us how to pay parking fee at a public parking area. I found a warning ticket or something like that on my car, then I asked her. This was quite extraordinary that she came with us to look for a person to whom I should pay for the fine, all around the town. And then finally she solved the problem perfectly. I will never forget what happened in Locanda Re Ruggero.
Review 24:Giuseppe was waiting for us when we were trying to park our car and he was extremely helpfull, kind and helped us with everything. The location is the best in town and we do recommend the place to anyone who wants to visit there.
Review 25:we had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. We hade the suite and it was spacious, very clean and a modern bathroom. I normally do not eat in the hotel but here I would definitely make an exception again. very friendly and helpful owner. I would always come back here!
Review 26:no lobby or central desk...not much charm but a practical accommodation
Review 27:very friendly staff...helped us with parking and WiFi problem...great location near Norman cathedral in Monreale and old part of town
Review 28:England and Italy were knocked out of the world cup while we were there. There was nothing about the property that we didn't like.
Review 29:The setting was perfect, only metres from the Duomo. The staff and owner were welcoming and very helpful and the rooms were beautiful, combining historic charm with modern convenience.
Review 30:rooms are wonderful and with the view on the cathedral. the staff is so nice. you are in the center, and if you have the car you can leave it to the staff to park it. we reccomend to try the resturant too.
Review 31:breakfast
Review 32:The owner is extremely helpful with advice, ordering restaurant etc. Breakfast could be upgraded with a nice capuchino
Review 33:No water.
Review 34:Staff
Review 35:wi-fi did not work, breakfast was very basic
Review 36:central location, good price, large room
Review 37:First room freezing and wifi didn't work.
Review 38:Very close to duomo. Moved us from unsatisfactory room without complaint.
Review 39:Great location, great decor/furniture Great stay overall
Review 40:Great place to stay with charm and style. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 41:Our balcony overlooked the Catherdal. Wonderful location for a breakfast.
Review 42:every thing
Review 43:Minimal breakfast
Review 44:Updated very nice room across the street from the cathedral. Minimal breakfast.
Review 45:good spacious room right next to Cathedral
Review 46:Lovely place...best location in town....nice little restaurant. What else could one want.
Review 47:Location, staff, room itself
Review 48:The hotel is very nice and clean. The location is amazing.
Review 49:There was a bit of confusion at 1st about where to park the car, but the friendly english-speaking staff took care of everything promptly. They even managed to get the car to us very early the next AM so we could catch our flight.
Review 50:Our room was exceptionally large, tasteful, clean and comfortable. There were 2 large french doors opening onto a small balcony overlooking the spectacular cathedral. The room was surprisingly quiet given its terrific lacation!
Review 51:No parking but possibility to park on the street in blue boxes for 1 € per hour during day time. Breakfast was minimal... Has to go to a bar for a coffee and croissant only. Not very good isolation.
Review 52:Friendly staff, nice modern rooms, excellent location just by the cathedral.
Review 53:Friendly welcome even though we arrived late from the airport. We had a good view of the cathedral from the room in the morning. Breakfast was provided at a local bar in a very Italian setting
Review 54:The stairs were very steep and I feared I would fall.
Review 55:all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given suggestions where to sightsee, eat, and shop. I will tell everyone about my stay there
Review 56:Nothing! It was perfect!
Review 57:From the moment we arrived we were shown the greatest hospitality. Giuseppe, the owner, had our car parked for us - which was a major relief. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and quiet. The location was perfect, close to the Cathedral. Breakfast was a very generous, fresh & delicious croissant prepared by the friendly owner of the bar. A coupon for the breakfast of coffee and the pastry was provided. This Hotel was one of our favorites of the trip and Giuseppe was an excellent host!
Review 58:Noise in the night, but I guess this is the risk if you are situated that strategically.
Review 59:Location, just few meters from the cathedral and pulsating center of Monreale. Staff was helpful and accommodating.
Review 60:Nothing
Review 61:Good location.i chose it rather than Palermo.there is easy bus to Palermo.Monreale has all the atmosphere of a small country town yet is 4 miles fromPalermo
Review 62:Nothing.
Review 63:The location is perfect to discover Palermo especially you want to avoid driving to/in Palermo, what I strongly suggest. Locanda can ensure safe parking for ten EUR per day, don't be surprised if your car is driven away by the staff. Don't worry it's in safe and it will be returned when you need it, just warn the staff in time. There is a free shuttle bus to Palermo, but yo have to change in the suburb to bus no. 389 or 309 cruising not very frequently. Buy tickets in a traffic near Locanda/Duomo.The staff is extremly helpful and they are there in case you need someone, Roberta or Giuseppe will do everything for you. The restaurant of Locanda is good at reasonable prices.
Review 64:Parking in town was difficult but that's a fact of the town
Review 65:The staff was eager to help with whatever we needed.genuinely warm friendly- restaurant had really good food and nice wine assortment
Review 66:The rooms we had were noisy (1,4,6), with a lot of banging from doors and the stairwell. It didn't really disturb us much, but it is worth mentioning, especially if you will be staying during the busy tourist season.
Review 67:We had a very nice stay in this comfortable hotel. It is located steps away from the cathedral, shops and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially with parking and retrieving our rental car at odd hours. Breakfast vouchers were given for a bar just a minute away where they offered pastries and coffee.
Review 68:I was a bit disappointed with the dinner at their restaurant but we didn't eat pizza, and it is mainly a pizzeria, so maybe we chose wrong...
Review 69:The rooms are beautiful and it is situated nicely right in the middle of this very busy little town.
Review 70:The hotel is a stone's throw from the magnificent Cathedral and offers great views of the back facade. The staff were really wonderful -- helpful and warm. The room was tastefully decorated and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant downstairs was excellent. (Do try the Caponata!) Bar Italia, where they send you for breakfast around the corner, is standing-room only, but has an amazing atmophere, delicious pastries, and a real community buzz.
Review 71:Monreale is a suburb of Palermo, and driving in and/or through Palermo is no joyous experience.
Review 72:Giuseppe (owner) was gracious and helpful. Beautiful location ... the view in the picture is true to life. Restaurant is terrific and good value. Overall an A+ experience. A lovely place and one we would definitely return to.
Review 73:Lack of a comfortable chair and having to go out for breakfast.
Review 74:The staff couldn't be more pleasant or helpful. The location was super- right next to the cathedral. The room had character and was spotless and comfortable. Parking was arranged at a reasonable cost.
Review 75:Perfect place to stay while visiting Monreale, and a great alternative to staying in Palermo. We had an early afternoon flight out of Palermo and we were able to visit the Monreale in the morning and still make it to the airport in time to fly home. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They helped us with our luggage and finding a place to park our car.
Review 76:Excellent and very stylish accommodation located behind first class restaurant in the center of Monreale. Staff very helpful and friendly. This hotel is a very good alternative for anybody who might not wish to stay overnight in Palermo.
Review 77:Beautiful and spacious rooms in very convenient location. Giuseppe, the owner, helped us when we were lost in one way system and even drove and parked our car. Restaurant is serving very good food and wine and staff is very friendly. We liked everything about this place!
Review 78:Nothing to criticise.
Review 79:Nicely furnished, spacious room overlooking the Monreale Cathedral. Wonderful host, very attentive to guests. Also, the hotel's restaurant is definitely worth recommending - great food and service.
Review 80:Everything was great - position, free wifi, clean room for 4 people was actually a little suite with two nice rooms and big bathroom, nice restaurant with good food and music! Monreale is beautiful but also a great base for exploring Palermo..
Review 81:Traffic in street next to the B&B (more then we expected) and a steep staircase (but the personnel will help you with heavy suitcases).
Review 82:Locanda Re Ruggero is a excellent place, a few steps from the Duomo. to stay when you want to visit Monreale Duomo and Palermo (free minibus and Palermo city bus) . The personnel is very friendly and helpful. All you need was present in the room. They serve a good diner for vegetarians. A private parking place was arranged (Euro 10 / night).
Review 83:It's really not a B&B but a "rent a room" with breakfast ( coffee and excellent croissant) provided at a nearby cafe. All very interesting and not a problem.
Review 84:The location right behind the cathedral and very close to the central area. The staff in the associated restaurant, who handled the booking in etc and provided excellent dinner - much improved on usual tourist fare.
Review 85:You should know, there was quite intensive noisy traffic on the road beside the locanda. If you are not planning to get up early (till 8 a.m.), it could be a troble. For us everething was Ok, because we weren't willing to sleep longer than 8 a.m. And one more thing - the stairs to our 3th floor were quite narrow and vertical. We found them charming, but for others it could be inconvinient.
Review 86:Our Superior double room was modern, spacious, decorated in Italian style, had two balconies. The Locanda located near the Monreale Cathedral and it was perfect to us. We had a beautiful view to Cathedral's backside from our balconies. Perfect picas, pasta, caponata in the owners restaurant.
Review 87:We love to stay at places where breakfast is included but as we were there only one night it was not an inconvenience to find our own.
Review 88:Monreale is such a beautiful city, not to be missed so this hotel and it's location were absolutely perfect. The owner went out of his way to help us park our car (free) and to this we owe him as anyone who has driven or parked in a Sicilian city will attest to. Location next to the Cathedral was perfect!!!
Review 89:We stayed in a spacious and very clean room, which also has a sofa area, great shower room and 2 balconies. You could not be nearer to the Cathedral. Giuseppe is an excellent host, very helpful with all our requests.
Review 90:Stairs may seem too steep, especially if you drink too much a wonderful Sicilian wine :)
Review 91:Perfect location, very very close to the fantastic Duomo. Rooms are clean and nice. If you have problems with parking, staff will help you.The owner Mr.Giuseppe, is very helpful.
Review 92:There is no parking and places on the street are always busy, but toll parking you can use is only 100m away. One can hear the traffic, especially motorbikes all night.
Review 93:Great place to leisure after a tiring day in Palermo. The staff was very friendly and helped us with anything we wanted. The location is really next to cathedral.
Review 94:Cleanliness, city centre, very safe even during late weekly hours, the owner was very hospitable, parking easy, we spent 4 nights at the hotel and loved it all.
Review 95:The courtains of the room are red, they are very nice but when the sun beggins to shine in the morning you can´t sleep no more. There are not other system as for example blinds to cover up the light in the morning.
Review 96:I like very much the situation and the views from the windows of the room. Is very very close to the fantastic Duomo. The owner is very nice and he helped us in whatever we needed.
Review 97:Very steep stairs up to the rooms so just take your time!
Review 98:We stayed three nights in late May and felt it was an outstanding choice. Location is perfect, staff was very kind and accommodating (we were three generations of family age 4-72), the dinner at the hotel was fabulous, and the whole property was spotless. The bathrooms were modern in spite of the building being very historic; beds comfortable; views of the cathedral or the city were wonderful! A perfect introduction to a real Sicilian town.
Review 99:The service could be better. When we arrived there was only a young girl who seemed to be running on her own both the hotel and the restaurant at the same time.
Review 100:The hotel was very tidy and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was really nice.
Review 101:The owner's attitude to ensuring our stay was as comfortable aspossible as we had arrived in the middle of their annual religiousfestival and the place was heaving
Review 102:At night, it is noisy. We dined at the locanda, but the cook was missing: we waited over one hour and we got kind of "emergency food".
Review 103:The location in the center of Monreale is good.
Review 104:It is a shame the mattress was a bit 'flimsy' and ‘foam’ pillows not really comfortable. Luckily we did not have to fork out the 20 Euro off-street parking as the owner helped us to find a space on the street.
Review 105:Super location, good size rooms, very hospitable and helpful staff (owner helped us to find on-street parking, decent restaurant at hotel (inc 10% discount)
Review 106:Staff were very friendly and waiting for us when we arrived. Took us up to the room and showed us around to make sure we were comfortable. Gorgeous cathedral outside our window. Breakfast coupon allowed us to go to local café for breakfast. Very clean and comfortable.
Review 107:Great location and atmosphere, beautifully restored building, spotless. We stayed at the suite at the top of the building with incredibleviews. The owner was a delightful and making sure that we are happy andcomfortable. 100% recommended. There are plenty of places to havebreakfast around. The restaurant in the main floor of the bulling wasgood. For special dinner, go to Taverna Del Pavone (5 minute’s walk)toget one of the best meals in Sicily. The ovner will advise where topark for free.
Review 108:Breakfast is very Italian and hurried in a little Cafe around the corner and consists of coffee and a pastry.
Review 109:The owner Giuseppe Pitti was extremely helpful regarding parking and our luggage. We had a big room, and the hotel is centrally located, only a few steps away from the Duomo.
Review 110:The extreme helpfulness of the staff, esp the manager, who made sure that our car was parked safely in the public lot. The location was perfect--a direct view of the apse of the cathedral from our balcony
Review 111:Breakfast standing at crowded bar across square, cheap but limited to one coffee and pastry/pizza
Review 112:Beautiful 17th century room with warm tiles, ceramics and bathroom, balcony overlooking cathedral, wonderful host and associated restaurant.
Review 113:Staff said it was only possible to park at the very (excessively)expensive public parking area nearby, whereas in fact it turned out tobe possible to find free and perfectly legal parking spots in town aswell, if you pay a little bit of attention to where it is and where itis not allowed
Review 114:Very nice and comfortable room, good location in the centre of town
Review 115:location is great, you can see the main cathedral through the window! staff is very helpful and firendly, rooms are great :)
Review 116:Clean, round the corner from duomo, helpful staff, excellent room facilities inc fridge with water, excellent breakfast offered at a nearby bar!
Review 117:nothing
Review 118:Friendly welcoming staff, location perfect for visiting the cathedral. The bar on the corner offered us anything we wanted for breakfast.
