Reviews for Hotel Alcide

Review 1:You can hear your neighbor very well. Doors open and close with sounds.

Review 2:Location is good, 5 minutes from train station.. Very nice view from window.

Review 3:very old design and poor buffet presentation! maybe they should put more style in the restaurant buffet and new arrangements in the hotel

Review 4:the restaurant is great !!!

Review 5:the wifi didn't work so good in our room. (we were in this hotel for 2 nights once in the first floor and the other time- in the 3rd floor, still low wifi signal )

Review 6:good location great bed good room helpful staff great restaurant

Review 7:Nothing really except to point out that there was no secure parking although that was not a problem to us personally.

Review 8:Convenience of the location, the informal efficiency of the administration and the excellent value for money.

Review 9:The staff were friendly and very helpful. Room was spacious, and everything you needed was there. Not super modern, but clean. The food in the restaurant was fabulous, and breakfast was nice. We were allowed to leave our luggage in the room after checkout, which was very helpful, thank you for that!

Review 10:The hotel can be described as Old World Elegance and Class. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were courteous and professional. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast and dinner were amazing. This gem of a hotel just outside Siena, Tuscany is a place we would recommend to our friends and family.

Review 11:Unfortunately no control over the heating system. Left the window open (-3º C). Woke up with the radiator blazing hot. Gave me somewhat of a headache.

Review 12:Good atmtmosphere, friendly staff. Very good beds.

Review 13:A little dark.

Review 14:Good value well situated hotel. Kind efficient staff. Food in dining room presented in a very spread out way across the room but it was good and fresh

Review 15:Roberta went way beyond her duties to help us; her family has owned the restaurant since the 1800's and they take great pride in their menu. Her son is chef and she often works the desk and the restaurant. Perfect for seeing San G, Firenze (take the bus or train,) vineyards and Colle but yet staying in a town with few tourists.

Review 16:Restaurant is over priced and over rated.

Review 17:Helpful staff

Review 18:Had a corner room. I bit loud in the mornings

Review 19:Great restutant. Try their risotto it is fabulous

Review 35:value for money

Review 36:A little noice of air-conditioning on roof.

Review 37:Fine staff and good breakfast.

Review 38:Bad isolation of windows! You can hear trafic all night long. The hotel parking is not so big and you may have to park on street.

Review 39:Good breakfast.

Review 40:A little noise from the street...

Review 41:Great breakfast, comfortable room, good value for money overall. The restaurant serves a tastefull cuisine.

Review 42:Lovely restaurant with lovely staff, good brekfast, nice rooms!

Review 43:Free parking, breakfast, free wifi, friendly staff! Value for money! Location!

Review 44:Poor wifi signal and parkinglot

Review 45:Matress, restaurant (food in the nighth) and downtown

Review 46:Restaurant doesn't open till 8pm! Not too many other choices in the neighbourhood.

Review 47:Convenient base to get to San Gimignano.

Review 48:One of the ladies at the desk acted like she wished we weren't there. Not sure why. She acted like we were a major bother.

Review 49:Great location

Review 50:nothing

Review 51:all

Review 52:breakfast

Review 53:Dated decor, spotty wifi, breakfast just adequate.

Review 54:Friendly staff

Review 55:good value for the money

Review 56:LIMPIEZA Y UBICACION.

Review 57:The breakfast was pretty limited for choices. The town was dead at night, we couldn't find anywhere to eat. The hotel has a well reviewed restaurant but it was a little out of our price range as budget travellers.

Review 58:Although the hotel was lovely, the town of Poggibonsi has not much to rave about. The hotel is very reasonably priced in comparison to other areas around chianti so if you have a car it is easy to drive around and we spent all our time in nearby San Gimignano. The locally made toiletries in the bathroom were devine!

Review 59:Our room was not at all as pictured on the website. Room was loud and bed uncomfortable. Breakfast was ok, the usual fare. Overpriced for what they offer - nothing much around the hotel at all.

Review 60:Fresh croissants - first time in more than a week - most hotels serve dat old baking.

Review 61:Breakfast could be better.

Review 62:Very good location. Near to Siena and Florence. Very helpful staff. Delicious seafood and pasta at their restaurant. They have a private free car park behind the hotel. Definitely come again.

Review 63:Our room had very poor wifi reception. Also, the windows in our room had poor sound isolation and kept trembling because of the traffic below.

Review 64:The location (of the city). Friendly staff. No problem with parking spaces.

Review 65:The windows are old (single-pane!), and the noise from the street is very bad at night and in the morning.

Review 66:Very good value for money, you can get to Siena and San Gimignano but pay half the cost of accommodation.

Review 67:We had internet connection problems but finally it worked, but not inthe restaurant, so bad I have to say. One elevator is not enough, weused stairs until 5 th floor. Very bad isolation at the window, you canhear everything from outside. Old furniture and shower courtain in 2014at this price????

Review 68:Well situated. Good breakfast.

Review 69:The shower was very tiny and has a very hot water.

Review 70:Location was pretty good if you want to visit the nearby cities. The restaurant is awesome!!! If you stay in this hostel, you must try the sea food they prepared. The chef is famous because of her food.

Review 71:- breakfast time only until 09:30 a.m.; - in December 2 days (of 4 days) without warm-up; - in December 2 days (of 4 days) with cold water in the shower; - antenna of the mobile phone next to the hotel;

Review 72:breakfast check out time female staff

Review 73:The carpets were dated and dirty, no lights in our end of hall, had to sit outside of the room on a chair to access internet, dirty tv remote, tv did not work, noisy......would never stay there again.

Review 74:Decent breakfast

Review 75:nop

Review 76:The lady at the reception was very kind and helpful. The hotel is renovated (1970's style) clean and very comfortable. Large rooms with huge windows, separate bathroom (Bath tube & sink) + WC & Bidet toilet room. The location is good at the entrance to the city , near access to the highway. free parking.Great breakfast served in a nice luminous dining room. Great restaurant for dinner next to hotel lobby.

Review 77:Rooms are quite small. Hotel is really the only one in town, its very 1980s.

Review 78:friendly staff, clean, central in tuscany with easy access to Florence, Sienna, Volterra. Buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant with a terrace. Products in the bathroom are local and of good quality. -

Review 79:Really great value for money. Rooms are clean, breakfast is fine and included in price. Staff is nice and helpful. All in all, we will be back if we will be in Poggibonsi again.

Review 80:There was nothing to dislike about this hotel!

Review 81:Staff was very courteous and helpful from day one. Especially nice that they spoke English. The included breakfast was quite nice. The lunch was great. The location was quite convenient. The hotel was really clean and the room was a good size. I love the fact that our dog had a comfortable time there and having the little park in front of the hotel was a real plus for him.

Review 82:The worst breakfast we've had for years and the maitre D could use some customer service training

Review 83:Spacious room with a good view. Quiet and near to the town centre facilities.

Review 84:electric outlets old italian-style- thick computer ac/dc cable connections dont fit , never have the probllem in another italian hotels

Review 85:very good location for exploring Toscana, breakfast.

Review 86:A bit outdated hotel with a small parking place.

Review 87:Good hotel for an overnight stay while traveling around Tuscany, close to San Gimignano (12 km), Volterra (37 km), Siena (37 km) etc.

Review 88:The shower was tiny. The air conditioning wasn't on; even though it wasn't that warm outside, it was still hot in the sleeping room. The hotel's solution was to open the window, which did not help very much.

Review 89:The hotel was centrally located for where we wanted to go in Chianti. The rooms were clean and most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 90:Comfortable bedroom and great food served in the hotel's restaurant. The staff, specially the restaurant's maitre, was extremely kind with our group.

Review 91:We had no dislikes about this hotel.

Review 92:This was a very clean, good value for money hotel. We had a large family room that accommodated us very well. Breakfast was provided and was adequate. The staff was very helpful and they also had free parking and WIFI.

Review 93:There was a hotel resturant and it wasn't open any of the nightsthat we stayed there, including sunday. On their website it clearly saysthat its open on Sundays. Sadly almost nothing else is open onSunday's in this town. It was very frustrating!

Review 94:I liked that it was right in the middle of every place that my friendand I wanted to for shopping. We went to Siena, Volterra, and SanGiminano (sp?). It was perfect for the location.

Review 95:I want to point an excellent customer service provided by Lourenço andthe stay was one of the best, nice beds, excellent shower, carpetrooms, rooms are very good in size and break fast was the top defenitycoming back

Review 96:The outside looks extremely run down. There were several things that made our stay there not enjoyable at all. First and foremost, it was really loud in the room. We asked for a room away from the main street and were told that all rooms face that side, but the room is on the fifth floor so it should be fine. It wasn't – the traffic was really loud, apart from that you could hear people speaking in front of the hotel in the middle of the night. The doors of the rooms (and inside) are really old and therefore slam loudly whenever someone goes into or out of his room. We thought our phone was ringing, when someone called a guy in the hallway. Also, the rooms are generally clean but windows are quite filthy, bathroom has a shower curtain in the tub that is way too long, so you have to step onto it. We also found a hair in our bed and in the sink. There's only one WLAN password per room, with which you cannot use 2 devices at the same time – not a big problem, but still: why? All in all we would not recommend to stay in this hotel – we really could not catch a good night of sleep there.

Review 97:The rooms are refurbished and quite ok. Breakfast is decent, baked goods, joghurt and fruits. Had to ask for cheese and ham first, however. Poggibonsi's city center is quite nice and ok to get dinner elsewhere than the hotel.

Review 98:Great quality-price, staff, breakfast (a lot of cakes home-made) and location. If you can, try also the restaurant: the Caciucco is wonderful!! Great food at a good price!

Review 99:The hotel doesn't have a parking but you can find a public place nearthe hotel.

Review 100:A nice hotel located in a non turistic city, what justifies the goodprice. However, it's near from a lot of beautiful small cities, specially ir you are by car. Very friendly reception staff. Highlyrecomended.

Review 101:posting someone in the breakfast room to make sure nobody removed anything at breakfast for later consumption seemed a little extreme, especially when he seemed to be hovering around the tables at all times. just being picky.

Review 102:Not sure why anyone would want to stay anywhere else in poggibonsi. great hotel at a great price. poggibonsi a very good base for day trips to volterra, san gimignano, and sienna. staff was very, very friendly and helpful. hotel recently modernized from the looks of it and the rooms wonderful.

Review 103:Traffic noise from six in the morning. The hotel is on a busy corner 200 metres or so north of the spacious pedestrian underpass beneath the railway, and not where shown on the booking.com web site map. We booked a superior room with a sitting area, but did not get what was promised on the booking confirmation. When challenged about this, the hotel management told me that we were already in a superior room, and that they did not have rooms with a sitting area. During our stay (mid-October), the hotel was full.

Review 104:We stayed at the Alcide for 5 nights. We chose Poggibonsi as a base because of the ease of visiting other Tuscan towns (Siena, San Gimignano, Florence, Pisa) by public transport. However, the small town lacks centrally located restaurants, so we ate in the hotel twice. Meals were quite good, and reasonably priced. Due to the low cost of accommodation at the Alcide, I was apprehensive about the likely quality of the hotel, but was pleasantly surprised. Although the hotel is slightly old fashioned, the rooms were good and an (inclusive) extensive breakfast was provided. I would happily stay at this three-star establishment again.

Review 105:everything was great.. very clean, very helpfull.. great place to explore the hole tuscany.. poggibonsi is the village to have your base.. it's in the middle of everything in tuscany.. and alcide is the best place to stay, if the first thing you looking is the economy.. amazing price.. more than i expected to see... great..

Review 106:Average hotel. Good parking for free. Located 15 min. walk from the pedestrian area of the city with restaurants and bars. Rooms are OK, breakfast is very nice with wide assortment.

Review 107:Main street in front is very busy up until about 10pm at night--sometraffic noise if your room faces it. But they do have the drop-downshutters to block nise and light from morning sun.

Review 108:The best bargain pricewise on our Italy trip. Convenient little cityhotel to the overpriced tourist spots in Sam Gimimagna, Monteriggioniand Siena. Great breakfast too. Staff friendly and helpful. Convenientelevator for the many floors. Free parking directly in front, right offthe busy main street. About 12 miles from beautiful but busy touristspots around it. Just off the Autostrata from Florence to Siena.

Review 109:The room was facing the street so it was rather noisy (had to keep the windows closed at night). Breakfast was not very good, three days of exactly the same food; no eggs, only white bread, water and juices served in plastic cups.

Review 110:Its location. Excellent starting point for exploration of Tuscany.

Review 111:A wired smell in the room, after we opened the window and turned the air con. On it Was fine...

Review 112:For the price that we paid it was a great value The bathroom was large enough and clean, breakfast was ok as well

Review 113:Met our needs for a calm environment and standard suitable for our needs.

Review 114:Well situated for our purpose. Visit Firenze and Siena and the surrounding countryside. Both driving our car and taking the bus to Firenze.

Review 115:Very good hotel room at a very good price. Very good breakfast with a wide variety of choices. The restaurant has great food and it's open until late.

Review 116:I've reserved a room for a cheap price... € 30. I couldn't believe to have a so nice and clean room. The hotel is a little bit vintage, but still working. Private bathroom, air condition, TV, free wi-fi and a very helpfully staff made this hotel the perfect stop to visit Tuscany.

Review 117:We got a warm, friendly welcome not only from the staff but also by the owners and excellent food. Extremely good value for money. It was a perfect centre for visiting other places e.g. Siena, S Gimignano and Florence.

Review 118:Nothing in special considering the price.

Review 119:Very cheap for a 3 star close to Florence and Siena. Decoration andfurniture look 40 Years old but very well maintained as everything wasworking perfectly. The restaurant has a nice balcony perfect for dinnerand breakfast.

Review 120:The decoration of the room is a bit out-dated.

Review 121:Their serving attitude is excellent. They serve excellent quality of food for the breakfast and also the dinner. Their hotel location is excellent too!

Review 122:Don't expect nice view from the windows, it's in the middle of a smalltown. But this could also explain the very very fair price

Review 123:Excellent hotel We really enjoyed there and we think that it worth everypenny Very helpfull stuff. Very good price. Quite good location, closeto main sites in Toscany We'll recomend this hotel to our freinds
