Reviews for Resort Paradosso

Review 1:maybe the bathroom stuff could be renewed

Review 2:The hotel has a beautiful garden and an excellent location inside the wall of the old city. The room was very large, 3 out off 4 beds were comfortable, the bathroom very small but adequate. Staff was very kind and friendly, good breakfast.

Review 3:It's not that I didn't like anything, a few things went wrong, had to change rooms twice, was charged an extra €60 because I booked through booking.com and was told they needed to pay their commission. Toilet broke, shower broke ,Understandably the wifi isn't great because of the walls of the building, but if you sit on the step outside the restaurant no problems- Christina is a character who offers you a coffee to fix every issue who's English is very limited- Google translate is required. Breakfast was very very basic- nothing hot except for coffee and the staff are lovely. Pool was drained.

Review 4:The location is excellent- although hard to find. Rooms are clean.

Review 5:Although there was a fridge in the room, it would have been good to have some tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom was quite small, although functional (shower, loo, sink & bidet). The address of via pianoscorano was not correct on booking.com, but a friendly local man helped us find it (park next to the oil place by the bridge, then cross the bridge on foot)

Review 6:Beautiful part of the city, in the heart of the old town. The hotel has fabulous gardens where ducks roam and breakfast is served on the terrace. Stayed three nights. Ate in the restaurant and in a nearby restaurant. Both were good - the hotel's fixed meals were really good value and staff really helpful in translating the menu for us! Cristina was very welcoming on arrival and sorted out our few queries quickly and effusively. Highly recommend.

Review 7:It was a nightmare to find, even with GPS and when we did there was just a note on the door with a telephone number for Christina (who only speaks italian!) We had booked a quadruple room with a kitchenette and got a (very pleasant) room dived into two rooms with one bathroom and no kitchenette. Had we been staying more than one night this would have been an issue (and as we were one of only two families staying that night I don't understand why when they have 20 suites). Also the pool was tiny and although quaint wasn't very clean.

Review 8:It was quirky - the shared outdoor space was beautiful and unexpected in the middle of the medieval city. Christina was very friendly and although she spoke nothing but Itailan she was an expert at sign language!

Review 9:I emailed a day ahead to ask about air con and whether the pool would be open, the main reason I boooked this property. I was assured that both would be fully available. We arrived the following day to find that the pool was only just being cleaned! I would never have got in, even if it was cleaned before we left, which it wasn't ! This is a restaurant that has too much on its plate by taking on rooms. Neither is working, judging by the restaurant reviews and the reviews of the accommodation. We were walking, so it was fine. But just that. Not a property, or set up, that I would associate with Booking.com. Shame

Review 10:It's fine. A bed. A dry room.

Review 11:Location was perfect. The garden inside was nice and beautiful. We enjoyed a nice walk there, playing with cats and birds. Also, breakfast was good, with delicious tramecino.

Review 12:Breakfast was a bit of an anticlimax.

Review 13:Christina is larger than life and a real joy to deal with, even though she spoke no English and we speak no Italian. Parking is free in her private car park. Our fridge was stocked with bottled water. It is only a short walk to the medieval centre.

Review 14:The first room I was given was a complete rip-off. No waste basket inthe bathroom, no heat (it was too cold to take off my coat while I wasinside the apartment), burnt out light bulbs, shower cabinet was dirty, dishes in the kitchenette were filthy and no way to clean them. Aftertwo nights my complaints were met with angry excuses, however theproprietress finally relented and moved me to a much better room. Shespeaks no English, only rapid fire Italian and Polish. Second room wasmuch more comfortable, but frustrating intermittent wi-fi connection.Garden is for eyes only. Too expensive.

Review 15:Viterbo is a beautiful medieaval town. Resort Paradosso is insidethe centro storico, which is great. There are many good places toeat nearby.

Review 16:The rooms were lovely and clean but a bit too pertumey.

Review 17:The fact that Resort Paradosso is located inside the walls of the original city! The grounds were breathtaking and the walk to the Piazzo del Morte was like going back in time! The staff was so friendly and the food was great!

Review 18:Although our booking had special instructions to the hotel that we will be arriving very late in the evening and after several unanswered e-mails saying the same, when we arrived, the hotel was all dark and locked up. If it wasn't for our private transfer driver who found someone to open up we would have been left to sleep on the street. No one spoke English and unfortunately we only know a couple of words in Italian. Very small and awkward bathroom with sheets to dry ourselves instead of towels. No widows (there was one skylight only) and the room feels like a prison. Uncomfortable and rickety furnishing. The exposed stonework makes the room even more uncomfortable The air-conditioning is positioned to blow straight on the bed - it was too cold with it on and too hot with it off. The skylight was not fitted with mosquito net and we couldn't open it anyway. Supposed to be set in a "botanic" garden. It was locked and when we asked to unlock it discovered a big and untended space more like a bad backyard than a garden. Breakfast was appalling in all quality, choice, quantity and even cleanliness of the breakfast room, don't even go there. Restaurant was not good either. Poor Wi-Fi connection

Review 19:The location was good right in the medieval town. The bed was comfortable

Review 20:The car park was good, but reaching the hotel, situated in the medieval part, was complicated. I was very glad to own a small car! But to roam the medieval streets of Viterbo was lovely!

Review 21:The Garden was amazing! Very large and peaceful, a lovely place to rest and read after visiting Viterbo. The room and the facilities were good.

Review 22:Position is great , quiet streets near vibrant bar and restaurant area in old town. Charming stone room with kitchenette and balcony. Very friendly owner who let us store baggage outside or time of stay.

Review 23:The fitness area was old and run down. Hours of facility were too short and we were not able to use the equipment. Should be open in the morning.

Review 24:Wonderfully relaxing hotel. Swimming pool was chilly but refreshing because the weather was hot and humid. Staff was very helpful and always willing to assist with any requests. The room was beautiful and spacious.

Review 25:A resort this is NOT. Resort price it is. Very difficult to find as the address is not accurate. Junior suite was a tatty sofa in a small foyer, and a dark and dingy bedroom overlooking an alleyway stacked with empty crates from the restaurant. There was no air conditioner in the room. Above the entrance door there was a creeper that was buzzing with wasps. All the corners were full of dust. I realise this is an old building in a medieval town but others we have stayed in have been far better.

Review 26:Location near the old town was good, but it was very difficult to find.

Review 27:The facilities breaking down.

Review 28:The rustic surroundings and location

Review 29:Breakfast wasn't very much to select from

Review 30:Lovely little area a must to see in your travells.

Review 31:Beds uncomfortable. Difficult to find.

Review 32:Great restaurant across alley.

Review 33:Poor breakfast.

Review 34:Very (!) cosy suit with kitchen downstairs and bedroom (with great big bed), bathroom and balcony upstairs. Very friendly stuff.

Review 35:poor breakfast

Review 36:the small hamlet. .friendly staff

Review 37:Nice and helpful staff, fantastic location!

Review 38:Location are difficult to find, even with gps navigator. Wifi atreception area only.

Review 39:Room was spacious and clean. Friendly staff. Ample Free parking.Restaurant on site.

Review 40:Lack of WiFi - not good in this day and age. The grounds of the hotel are indeed lovely and have great potential, but needed some attention - perhaps mid May is still early season, but it would have been nice to have had some comfortable chairs outside to take in the atmosphere and get a drink. The pool was empty, though I doubt we would have used it at this time of year. It was not really explained to us about the layout of the hotel (it is broken up into many parts, so we stayed in what was effectively a lodging apart from the main building - not a problem, but it was not clear), and I would have looked a lounge area for residents.

Review 41:A great location, and provided you have a decent GPS it was easy to find. Despite the narrow streets in the old quarter there is a large car park for use by hotel guests which is handy, and one of the reasons we selected this hotel over others in the area. The Staff we met (especially in the restaurant) were extremely friendly and hospitable. Another reason we chose this hotel was because it was dog friendly, and it was most suitable for our Labrador. We were in Viterbo to watch the Mille Miglia pass through, and this hotel is extremely well situated to achieve that, thug there was very little information available on the Mille Miglia either in the hotel or in town! Viterbo itself has huge potential, but there are many run down and scruffy parts to the medieval town, which took the edge off what could have been a really good break.

Review 42:The location of Resort Paradosso is excellent for visiting Viterbo. It is very close to the duomo and main shopping area. The restaurant at the Resort is very nice as well. My favorite part of the resort is the garden area. The garden is extremely beautiful and is a refreshing contrast to the hard stones of the medieval town.

Review 43:No one speaks other language - no English, no French, so we developed mimical conversation. The buffet was not good. The restaurant for breakfast had no WC and was complicated - especially the last day, when the key is given back. The great park was not accessible - maybe only for the period of our stay. My whole impression from this hotel is poor.

Review 44:Location was perfect - in the "heart" of old Viterbo. The building is acient, but renovated.

Review 45:A bit difficult to find by car but eventually found it after walking around the streets. The breakfast was poor, some fresh juice and an Italian cappuccino would have made it much better.

Review 46:Great location to visit the thermal spa and explore the medieval part of the town. The room was comfortable with lovely, white cotton sheets. Good value for money.

Review 47:Expensive. Very mediocre breakfast and disgusting coffee until I asked for a real one. I had imagined from name and photo it was more of a luxury resort, but actually are quite basic apartments and it is a residence not a resort.

Review 48:Very authentic medieval feel in the apartment, also quite dark and spartan though. Restaurant next door was very good.

Review 49:Need a gps to find but wonderful location, could not be closer toeverything.

Review 50:Wonderful hospitality, great value, historic building in middle agessector in old Viterbo

Review 51:Not being able to have WiFi in our room was a problem .

Review 52:We really enjoyed Christina's friendliness and cheerfulness . The resort was quite beautiful and the medieval village was very interesting.

Review 53:Didn' t particularlyy like Viterbo itself- it was bit dirlty, lot of litter and some graffiitti. Lot of emply /unused buildings.

Review 54:setting of hotel was good. Restaurant on site excellent, with good staff

Review 55:Gardens were not up to their potential, lots of leaves and some garbage here and there. Pool was clean but fountain was algaed up.

Review 56:Very unique experience inside old medieval walls of city. Our room looked like a castle, really felt transported in time. Very interesting gardens with lots of tunnels and grottoes and stairways leading to dark underground passages. No one else was around so it was creepy cool and in a state of partial abandonment while still having clean rooms and breakfast service. Maybe we hit low season? It was very interesting and i loved it but I love beautiful decay and old buildings with mystery. Very close to good restaurants and great sites to see.

Review 57:Difficult to find, but locals helped point the way. Some better signage would help.

Review 58:Christina was fabulous, so enthusiastic and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. Adjacent restaurant was excellent

Review 59:Pillows hard bedspread was a curtain no top sheet on children's bed pool cold and dirty room dark Too expensive for standard of accommodation Shampoo etc I found in a drawer Air conditioning inadequate and noisy Worst of all towels were tea towels

Review 60:Close to historic center and free car park

Review 61:Very hard to find. You have to drive in an restricted and video-surveilled area to get there. Pool not useable for bathing - not cleaned and with living ducks along poolside. No aircon in room. The room smelled some mouldy, which was sought subdued with to much air freshener.

Review 62:Surroundings very old, original and incredibly beautiful. Very cozy place with good opportunities for relaxation and walks in the old part of town, right outside your door. Good restaurant at hotel and more nearby.

Review 63:It was very difficult to find, The GPS could not find it. Also the pool was no more than a small wading pool and was not clean.

Review 64:The two bedroom suite was very nice and the meal at the restaurant was very good.

Review 65:Nothing, only difficulty was finding the hotel as the building and city is old and we did not use SatNav.

Review 66:Located in the old town of Viterbo, very central and pretty with garden and pool. Max 5mins from the old town and 3 festivals during our visit!

Review 67:The location is excellent - right in the middle of the Mediaeval Quarter of Viterbo. The hotel also has a beautiful garden and a good restaurant ideal after a hard day's sightseeing. All the staff are courteous and helpful.

Review 68:Really, there's nothing I can say not to like.

Review 69:Laura greeted us at reception and she is full of positive energy. the room itself is located away from the reception building (just over the street) and she gave us a tour of the facilities. The location is excellent being about a 10-15 minute walk from the Porta Romano station which has direct rail links with Rome. The exact location in Viterbo is fantastic for exploring this hidden gem. You need to be fit to walk in Viterbo since the streets are on the whole cobble-stone and it's pretty hilly too. There's very little street traffic as most people tend to walk. There is a peace and quiet that you don't get in many cities, and yet there are lots of things to do and it has a real buzz. Viterbo is a university town so there's lots of venues that appeal to a mix of ages.

Review 70:I loved this little place and Laura who was so welcoming when we arrived. The garden is so lovely and we spent the perfect afternoon on the lawn getting a much needed rest. The rooms are great and spotless. If you're driving in, there is plenty of parking at the hotel, but it does help to have a GPS as the streets can be a little confusing :)

Review 71:Access restricted by car road restrictions although ok providing you phone ahead as the staff look out for you and guide you to car park.

Review 72:Staff helpful. Quiet location with outdoor private garden.

Review 73:We arrived in pouring rain after the office had closed, and called thecell phone listed on the door. The nicest woman came to our aid with ahuge umbrella from down the street, and though we spoke very littleItalian, and she spoke a little English, we communicated well and shewas the kindest, most generous hostess. Our room was unique andcomfortable in a medieval building (Viterbo's center is a medievalcity), and everyone we met in the town was gracious and friendly. FromViterbo, we saw famous gardens and villas like Bomarzo, Villa Lante, andVilla Farnese at Caprarola, and this was a nice central location tothose. We felt very welcome, were treated like family, and wouldrecommend Resort Paradosso to anyone visiting the area.

Review 74:Keep in mind it is not a generic one size fits all place. It is very old and standards are not what they may be at a mid level US hotel. The experience more than makes up for it but if you are not flexible it may not be for you. I had to use the office for all my internet needs. If it was closed, very sketchy internet, if at all.

Review 75:Christina found me walking around looking for the place and pulled me in. She welcomed me and went out of her way over the next few days to make me feel like I actually lived there. It was an incredible experience. The restaurant was great too.

Review 76:The breakfast was poor.

Review 77:Very good restaurant on the premesis - the best pizza in Italy (?). Further on the hotel had a parking lot just outside, and a fantastic garden. Location was great.

Review 78:The Hotel could have some potential because the apartments in the mainbuild are cozy but it isn't at all a 5stars Resort!!!it is a nicebed&breakfast. Furthermore the manager, Mrs Cristina doesn'tspeak Italian very well (I can't imagine Other languages) and she isvery rude and not professional at all. I suggest to double check thatyour apartment is in the main building before arriving because if notyou won't spend the night there and you'd better ask for areimburse!!!

Review 79:I only liked the location. It is right jn the medieval centre of Viterbo.

Review 80:the price is a little high,if the price becomes lower, i will be there more often

Review 81:i like the feeling of the room, warm and clean, location is perfect, and cristina is very friendly and lovely!

Review 82:They didn't serve us breakfast because there were not enoughclients. They told us to go to a bar and we got something there.Bathroom needs a remake.

Review 83:Free parking in the middle of the city.

Review 84:shower was small; odour that backed up through the bathroom's drains were very unpleasant; noise from bar/restaurant below disturbed sleep; hotel staff were hard to find after check-in (staff was friendly at check-in); included breakfast was not available on both mornings (breakfast room was locked with no activity or staff in site)

Review 85:size of room was ample with kitchenette, dining table, separate bedroom & bathroom; easy walk from all sites in the old town; easy walk from the main train station although hilly

Review 86:water pressure was low when trying to take a shower one morning - but after a couple of minutes everything was fine - I guess someone else was trying to take a shower at the same time in the rooms next door!

Review 87:We stayed in a junior suite - it was on two levels - downstairs kitchen and upstairs bedroom, bathroom and a balcony. The room was warm and beautifully decorated - like a castle! Kitchen and bathroom were well equipped. We had the key to the garden which is gorgeous! Breakfast was good enough and staff very polite and helpful. 10 mins walk from Porta Romana station.

Review 88:Beautifu garden

Review 89:noising not curtains in the room poor breakfast poor service cold room

Review 90:location in old town

Review 91:Breakfast was extremely poor

Review 92:Breakfast good but simpele.

Review 93:Excellent restaurant. Very friendly staff. An oase in green in the old city

Review 103:Great location in the centre of the old town. Quirky accommodation, old fashioned but with loads of space, beautiful gardens

Review 104:amazing old building, gardens and position in old town

Review 105:character rooms, friendly staff, great loaction city wise

Review 107:The quirkieness of the hotel.

Review 108:A little hard to find

Review 109:Marvellous location on edge of old city. Very friendly welcome. Beautiful private garden. Lovely spacious apartment

Review 110:no wi-fi
