Reviews for Hotel Villa San Giorgio
Review 1:It would be useful if room had desk for writing. Drainage in the shower cabin was a bit slow.
Review 2:Easy acces from the highway, beautiful view on near hills, olive tree plantations and vineyards from the hotel and also from the room, nice and tidy hotel nearby surrounding, good breakfast, very good food a la carte and vino de la casa, very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 3:The navigator takes us to diffrent locations but in lovely way
Review 4:Great location in beautiful place. very nice owner we came one night and stay for two and get great facillites and surprise gift bottle of wine. very good resturant
Review 5:Room smelt badly like stale cigarettes, furnishings a bit out dated. Quite a drive from Poggibonsi, so would be difficult to go out and eat at other places if you stayed there for longer. Weird wifi that made you login using Facebook and then only worked for 1 hour.
Review 6:Easy to find. Lovely host who checked us in & other staff friendly as well. Beautiful location, such an amazing view of the vineyards and hills. Great breakfast, lots of options and fresh pastries. Good having a restaurant onsite.
Review 7:We stayed for 3 nights. We had to pay extra if we wanted clean towels or bedding. Therefore no change for 3 days. Must rather be included in price. Rooms very small
Review 8:This is definately a value for money stay. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. In wonderful winelands. Close enough to visit Florence for day as well.
Review 9:What a beautiful location. Tuscan countryside! As we drove up, the neighbor's geese came up to the car. We saw pheasants in the orchard and the view was amazing.
Review 10:The staff except for one waiter in the morning were very unfriendly. The hotel is rather noisy and one can hear almost everything in the room next door to you as well as in the corridors. Breakfast was also not the best.
Review 11:The location was beautiful!
Review 12:unable to access keys from reception when arriving back late from a day out as the whole reception area was locked up. had to ring a bell to get someone to come out and access keys
Review 13:Overall lovely hotel
Review 14:Heavy perfume and horrible LED lights in restaurant.
Review 15:We got free upgrade to a our room. It was specious and had nice bathroom. After very tiny showers in many other places, this was nice change. Unfortunately room was heavily perfumed before our arrival. We are in beautiful, all natural Tuscany, aren't we? Besides that and very bad lightning in the restaurant downstairs, it is a great place for the right price with easy access to nice outdoor pool and gorgeous outdoor scenery.
Review 16:Breakfast is poor even for Italian poor standard. The food in restaurant is quite good, but one of our courses included badly smelly chicken. The waitress just smiled and said it's okay and took it away. Staff are nice people but kinda amateurs. Like they are trying to do something they can't be good at. Sound isolation is very poor.
Review 17:All the resort is nice and surrounding by Tuscany beauty. They're having nice selection of wines. They gave us a bottle of wine after check out. Nice surprise. Fast WiFi. Location with easy access to the free highway to Firenze.
Review 18:It is a bit difficult to drive last 2-3 km to hotel, but it depends what kind of driver you are, I guess. :)
Review 19:Everything! Wonderfull place, you feel like you are the guest in somebody's villa. Gorgious views. Very nice rooms, great breakfast and even dinner is served. Hotel is a bit remote, so dinner option is very helpful. Nice pool area. Was convinient to visit San Giminiano from there
Review 20:wifi not working properly, the water in a pool is chlorinated a bit too much, makes your skin very dry....
Review 21:Lovely place, we had a nice room in the annex, fine breakfast with excellent coffee and service, the pool and its surroundings is perfect, distance from the village but reachable without any problems, we made lovely photos exactly as they have on websites J
Review 22:We had a very nice holiday at Hotel San Giorgio. The staff is very kind, helpful, friendly, special thank you for Monica who served us the delicious dinners:-) If you would like to relax and enjoy the tuscan landscapy and twittering birds, to swim at the pool, so this is the place where you can do. Try the house vine and a dinner by all means.
Review 23:a little bit far from the city
Review 24:The hotel was great, and the pool is very good. The room was clean and comfortable. Fantastic view! Wi-fi works fast enough. The staff is gentile and the brekfast is fine.
Review 25:Nothing at all!
Review 26:Perfectly position for exploring Tuscany! Peaceful and comfortable sanctuary. Feeling like being part off hotel team's extended family!
Review 27:WiFi and shower were awful, interior design of room was a bit depressing. Although most of the staff were helpful, the manager (bold guy) was the most unapproachable person I have seen in this industry.
Review 28:location was stunning, surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards
Review 29:Everything was great! The pool is large, hotel is a wonderful castle. Wi-fi works fast - and there are 2 access points. The staff is gentile and always smiling. Perfect hotel!
Review 30:Service was very friendly, but a bit slow at the evening meal.
Review 31:A wonderful country setting, it would be the perfect place to stay for multiples days between Firenze, Siena, San Gimignano and other cities in the area. Full service hotel
Review 32:Location. We went driving a rental car, which allowed us to stay in a peaceful, quiet place away from tourist mass. Yet, we were close, driving of course, from so many medieval towns to include San Gimignano and Siena, and also vineyards where you could do wine testing and then come back to the hotel to just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Review 33:Wifi was bad, even around the reception area. Breakfast was okay but had to go search for someone to get some coffee. bathroom very very small and no space to put something down.
Review 34:Staff was friendly. Room was okay. View was fantastic!
Review 35:Nothing.
Review 36:This family run Hotel is fantastic. It is nestled in the hills about 4 Km above Poggibonsi. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, olive orchards and vine yards. It is a perfect location to explore Tuscany and all it has to offer. The hotel itself is split into two buildings, the main building with reception, restaurant and the smaller rooms and a second building with the larger rooms. We stayed in one of the larger rooms all have a small balcony and over look a grassy area and views of the countryside. There is an outdoor pool onsite which was closed whilst we were there (it was Easter) and I can imagine during the summer months it would be a great place to relax with a drink. A buffet breakfast is provided with a good range of cereals, breads, meats, cheese, jams, cakes and yogurt. We found that we did not need to have any lunch once we had breakfast. The restaurant is only open for around 2 hours from 1930 to 2130. However it is enough. The menu has a nice bit of everything. The wild boar joint is excellent. We are not ones for eating at the same place every night however we did eat here on each of our 6 nights of our stay. To be honest the restaurant and the staff made our stay. They are friendly, fun and always happy to see you. The quality of the food is excellent and the selection of wine is impressive. Saying that we did just have the house wine each night which we thoroughly enjoyed. Prices are very reasonable, you could have a three course meal for two for around 50 euro. We will definitely be staying here again if we are passing through.
Review 37:Breakfasts could be better and could be warmer inside the restaurant in the mornings. However we were in the end of March and that's the reason. Paper walls so you hear every sound from the room next to you. Lack of water in the toilet during the day so it's hard to flash. Closed swimming pool in this term.
Review 38:Beautiful landscapes in this area. Really close to Siena, Florence, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano. Classic Tuscany buildings.
Review 39:Idea for a weeks stay to discover and explore Tuscany but not really ideal for a one night stop over on route as I was. not easy to find, no food available in the locality and breakfast starting at half eight is too late if you want to get on your way
Review 40:Lovely rooms and position nice friendly guy
Review 41:Heating not appropriate for really cold winter days
Review 42:The breakfast, nice assortment of delicious pastry, also scrambled eggs, ham and cheese. Also, the honesty of the staff, my sister in law forgot her precious gold watch, the management called us while still on our return trip, telling us that they found a watch and that they will mail it to the owner, great! The location of the hotel and the nature around it are simply beautiful
Review 43:The walls were thin, the first night hardly got any sleep as room next door had. Tv on so loud, couldn't sleep till after 1am. Some reception staff were helpful and friendly, others just ignored us
Review 44:Location was perfect for sightseeing many lovely towns in the area, breakfast was very well done.
Review 45:We' ve got quite small room with the backyard view and not very comfortable bathroom.
Review 46:Beautiful view. Elegant and stylish Villa with tuscan atmosphere. Good breakfast.
Review 47:Was told on arrival dinner at eight. Went to dinner told no dinner tonight. 5 km to town a problem after pre dinner drinks as position is remote to public transport. Suggest double checking if you are having a few. Great staff except for the bald guy who lacks PR skills in hospitality. Avoid him and everything is perfect.
Review 48:Tranquil and convenient location, spacious room, nice balcony, affordable, great breakfast, good restaurant. For the price you will not be disappointed.
Review 49:Television noise transfers between rooms due to wall mounted TV's.
Review 50:The setting is quiet and tranquil. The reception building and dinning room have a rustic feel.
Review 51:Only one person was in charge of the breakfast, so you sometimes have to wait a long time to get something. Room was very basic and the water had a weird smell of chlorine in it.
Review 52:Location is everything, this hotel is located on a beautiful hillside between vinyards and beautiful meadows. We went in September and the view was absolutely beautiful. The staff was great and they helped us planning what to do and how to do it. We had dinner there one night and that also is really something to try
Review 53:breakfast and dinner hours in the restaurant start a little too late; location of the hotel is not easy to find as you need to look for the relevant sign as you get off the motorway.
Review 54:had an extremely pleasant quiet stay in a beautiful location; ideal for relaxation good food, good wine and clean air; highly recommended.
Review 55:The owner was very unhelpful & rude.. Mostly ignoring you supposedly not understanding English .. Esp when asked help in carrying suitcases as there are no lifts but lots of stairs !!
Review 56:The female reception staff were lovely and very helpful
Review 57:Lovely property located on one of the hills overlooking the Monsanto/Chianti area. Definitely recommended if you're after a quiet place in Tuscany with amazing views and great staff that will make sure you're having a great stay.
Review 58:The balcony of our bedroom was very small, did not fit a regular chair properly. Also, while trying to provide privacy to the guests, the views of the countryside are generally blocked.
Review 59:The breakfast has good variety and quality. The wi-fi connection is reliable.
Review 60:The inability of the staff to provide me with an aperitif before dinner - while the bar is next to the reception, I was told to wait until 8pm - dinner time. This attitude is not acceptable for a hotel.
Review 61:the pool are was great; I needed the possibility to relax there. Breakfast was unexpected large, not just the typical cakes and coffee the location up on a hillside - quiet and secluded
Review 62:The bathroom was horrible, very small, Water from the shower was all over the place.
Review 63:The outside of the hotel is beautiful, breakfast was great, a lovely lady welcomed us and helped with any thing we asked for.
Review 64:A few mosquitos too many - but that's not San Giorgio's fault - take plenty repellents
Review 65:Ricardo and the very friendly staff Unique Tuscan sunshine and surroundings Food and Wine Totally relaxed atmosphere - holiday at ease but with comfort
Review 66:Rooms were a little dated - but not a problem for us
Review 67:Warm welcome and friendly staff Breakfast ok - good selection Pool looked nice good view beyond the pool lovely patio area
Review 68:Will defiantly rexcomend anyway.
Review 69:An amazing place to stay. It was in a beautiful setting and very peaceful. Rooms could do with a revamp and cushions on the chairs outside would be nice. Oh and good pillows is a must. Then it would be wonderful and
Review 70:Linen was worn out
Review 71:The staff andt its vicinity to historical sites such as San Gimigniano
Review 72:Perfect in every way... Cannot wait to get back...
Review 73:Use a navigation to find a place.
Review 74:Everything was great. Personal attitude. Definately use a possibility to eat at the restaurant.
Review 75:La location è stupenda
Review 76:We had a room with Tuscany landview. Very good conditions, breakfast and location.
Review 77:The skinny road to get there - could use a few more road mirrors
Review 78:Beautiful setting. Great food at the restaurant and Monica
Review 79:Everything were excellent. We want to come back.
Review 80:The ambience in the middle of the vineyards was beautiful. The lady who checked us in was par excellence friendly and helpful
Review 81:Friendly staff and nice fat cats :) Beatuiful view, clean room.
Review 82:Change of linen and towels after 3 days. Breakfast of poor quality.
Review 83:A bit far off the beaten track but worth it!
Review 84:A beautiful place with a spectacular view.
Review 85:Breakfast. Serious changes need to be made here!
Review 86:Very friendly staff. Fantastic food in the restaurant and great selection of wines.
Review 87:very hospitable
Review 88:Everything was superb.
Review 89:Internet sketchy.
Review 90:Pool, staff, food all fabulous!
Review 91:Nice place, really good breakfast, great place for relaxing...
Review 92:breakfest
Review 93:location
Review 94:The location was beautiful. It was clean and peaceful and relaxing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 95:Lovely position, welcoming and very helpful staff...Our teenage kids loved too! Nice dinner as well..!
Review 96:Hard to find.
Review 97:Really nice place, excellent location, big and comfortable room, good breakfast.
Review 98:Beautiful Tuscany scenery. A good comfortable place to stay. Friendly staff, the food was good.
Review 99:Lost in the hills, great, empty swimming pool, faded glory, lovely family atmosphere between the hotel workers...great place.
Review 100:swimming pool is very dirty the manner of the owner is so bad that I don't want to go back
Review 101:view is really nice breakfast is also good
Review 102:The original Tuscan style :p
Review 103:the staff!!the accommodation manager was very unhelpful when we arrived in the evening. We found our rooms by ourselfs in the dark.
Review 104:the surrounding
Review 105:Very nice and friendly. Position. Fantastic for exploring Tuscany
Review 106:The area, people, all together is fine!
Review 107:Facilities should be improved and also the room a little bit refurbished, especially the bathroom. ( we had small type room)
Review 108:Just in the middle of the Tuscany vineyards, fields and hills. Spectacular view ! You can have your breakfast on the hotel terrace and admire all the Tuscany view. Location near most important cities to visit like: San Gimigniano, Volterra, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Certaldo, Castellina in Chianti and Siena.
Review 109:A car is needed to access the property which can be difficult to accessdue to its location and poor/lack of signage from the turn off onthe main road (which is several kilometres from the hotel). A detailedmap and good instructions are needed. Plan to arrive in daylight hourswith time to spare as finding the place in the dark and on the narrowroad would be very difficult.
Review 110:The isolated setting was superb with beautiful views. The staff werevery helpful and the welcoming coffee served outside was muchappreciated. The evening meal was delicious. Buffet style breakfast wasalso delicious with a variety of hot and cold foods andcakes/pastries.
Review 111:- We liked everything but is important to advise some people about some points. - Need a car to go to the hotel. - Towels are changed each 3 days. Not a problem for us but can be for you. - In some tables outside, around the "patio" and the swiming pool, you can find some spider nets and a bit of dust. But is nothing to worry. The hotels is in the fields and it's not a question of cleaning but to be exposed to the nature. - Not all the time, however we experienced some delaying in warming the shower. But eventually the water was pretty hot.
Review 112:- Ricardo, Paula and all the staff are very nice and cool people. - Just in the midle of the Tuscany vineyards, fields and hills. - Dinner was delicious and not expensive. - They sell good Chianti. - Clean rooms. - Good swiming pool. - Breakfast was delicious. - You can have your breakfast outside the hotel and admire all the Tuscany view. - Location near most important cities to visit like: San Gimigniano, Volterra, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Rapolano Terme, Castellina in Chianti and Siena.
Review 113:Nothing
Review 114:Ricardo was fantastic, a little crazy however very knowledgeable about the area. Paula and Lorenzo were very helpful as well. The pool was awesome after a day out and about. The breakfast was perfect and our dinner was great. We met very nice friendly quests from all over. We will be back a very nice family environment. The fireflies at night were very entertaining make sure you stay up to watch
Review 115:The room was dark unless the curtains and shutters were open.
Review 116:We were very pleased with the enchanting location of this magnificent villa. On arrival we were offered a coffee and greeted by English speaking receptionstaff , which made us instantly comfortable. I am an avid gardener and the well kept formal gardens were breathtaking and made for beautiful photography. It was central to the town of Poggibonsi and this is not a hotel within public transport so a car is essential. Drives to Siena and Montegiggioni are a must and possible for day trips.
Review 117:The bathroom was very clean but shower cubicle was quite small and the door scraped along the floor, but very minor things!
Review 118:Stayed in this hotel for one night. We had a great room with a deck that looked out over Tuscan vineyards, which was beautiful. The location is quite remote so very quiet and relaxing but still very easy to find as well signposted and good roads and lots of parking. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was very varied and tasty!
Review 119:could have been cleaner, not so strong wifi signal in the room, probably too far
Review 120:nice location, nice villa/rooms, good breakfast, perfect value for money, romantic view from the window, vineyards, olive trees, nice surroundings
Review 121:Nothing!
Review 122:Amazing B & B... Like a Italian movie set! The staff is wonderful! Beautiful views of Tuscany! Rooms are great, great value and great home made food too!
Review 123:You do need a car to go there which wasn't a problem for us. Breakfast very poor - as like most of italy
Review 124:The location is amazing especially if you like peace and quiet and nature. It is surrounded by trees, birds, deer and other wildlife.
Review 125:Like everything but getting there is a bit tricky! Well all Agroturismo's and out of city places usually are isolated - that is what is so nice about them. Just need a car and GPS to get there!
Review 126:Everything and even had an upgrade seeing there were not so many people at this time of the year! Beautiful surroundings and helpful staff!
Review 127:We'd like to thank Villa San Giorgio for a lovely, comfortable stay in a Toscan villa atmosphere for a budget price, in a quiet rural area, yet less than 5min drive from a major motorway Firenze-Siena, and just 15-25min drive from any major destination in the area (San Gimignano, Siena, Chianti region).
The Fine Print
