Reviews for Hotel Il Nido
Review 1:Beautiful view of the ocean/ coastline from the room. The hotel is a walk away from town, but we had a car so that made it easy. The hotel has on- site parking. Breakfast included in room rate. The staff is very friendly and they even drive us into and back from town on the first day, so we could get dinner. The room was very spacious, had good wifi and an amazing terrace.
Review 2:8min uphill walk from Amalfi town centre but that enabled us to get a good view of the Amalfi!
Review 3:Gorgeous interior decor, balcony with full view of Amalfi Coast was amazing! Excellent breakfast, helpful staff and free private parking, though limited lots. Public Parking was also available just right in front of the hotel so no problem. Would totally recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Amalfi!
Review 4:Not very welcoming, felt as we were disturbing the person at the desk. Parking very tricky and that was in November. Park up forget using the car. Room very stuffy felt stale smelling
Review 5:Great location you can walk into town. Views were fantastic at all times of the day, breakfast looking out to sea.
Review 6:Lift stopped at second floor. Steep stairs up to third and fourth. Fifteen minutes uphill walk on dangerous road from Amalfi centre and restaurants. 15 Euros by taxi.
Review 7:Fantastic views over the Amalfi bay from large balcony-terrace, but little privacy from adjoining balconies. Helpful friendly staff.
Review 8:The grumpy man in the grey sweater with receding hair. During a rain storm our room was flooded together with the folks next door. We were struggling to use towels to keep up with the water coming in over the door jam about 4 inches. We alerted the front desk as the drain on the next patio was plugged, they came immediately to deal with the issue. When I brought the subject up with the owner (grumpy man at the front desk) he didn't acknowledge the flood nor we were compensated in any way for our inconvenience. I brought the matter up again when we were checking out and the owner did nothing. Also this is a smoke free hotel however the owners who live in the complex smoked on the patio or in the dining area which was not pleasant.
Review 9:breakfast was nice and location
Review 10:Fabulous Location! Excellent staff! A 10 minutes walk to the center. I wish we could have stayed here for more nights. The room & the bathroom are big and very nice, clean. The huge terrace, which is equipped with 2 sunbeds and a iron tiled table with chairs, with the sea & harbor view, is absolutely stunning!!! Highly recommended. Thank you Mr. Michele Cavaliere
Review 11:The staff at this hotel is super friendly. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk into town and has some great views. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the breakfast is very good. I would stay here again without question.
Review 12:Some of the elements in the room are very old and trending to break Very sporadic Wi-Fi
Review 13:good location, perfect balcony facing Amalfy on location garage. short ride to the city (can walk if you're up to the exercise)
Review 14:The walk into town, (Taxi's very expensive for the distance travelled) No pavements so you walk on the road into town a few close calls with traffic
Review 15:The terrace off of the room over looking the Amalfi coast
Review 16:Bathroom needs a bit of updating but looking around Italy most do so its a normal Italian bathroom really
Review 17:Great staff and free parking. Great breakfast room views. Short walk to town
Review 18:We had to walk a little to Amalfi center and no sidewalk was present. Lack of elevator to the top floor.
Review 19:Big terrace with flowers, one of the best views in Amalfi area. Nice and helpful staff.
Review 20:You might not like the steep 15 minute walk into Amalfi. Ok for us but some will find it hard going.
Review 21:Beautiful views from our sea facing balcony, comfy bed and pillows.
Review 22:There were not any warm breakfast just for extra charge. We put on the door the 'no cleaning' sign, however they came in. But these things were small issues.
Review 23:The hotel has a fantastic panorama. We were at a top room with a big terrace. We could see the ocean and Amalfi too. The breakfast was far enough and tasty. The city centre is a 10-15 minutes walk so it is okay. The crew was nice, they even took us to the centre at the end with our luggage.
Review 24:The wifi was a bit unreliable. Also the hotel is just outside the town and there are a lot of steps and some road without footpaths leading up the hill. This wasn't a problem for us (and meant we got the lovely views) but you do need to be pretty fit if you are walking to and from town.
Review 25:The hotel is just outside Amalfi with amazing views of the bay. We could sit on our balcony to enjoy the view and sample the ocal wine. The room was very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly
Review 26:The fact that we were unable to access the sea for swimming and lying on the beach. A wee bit out of the town, but not too far for walking.
Review 27:Owner very helpful. Staff attentive. Outlook was very beautiful and relaxing.
Review 28:All rooms have a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. The price for the Amalfi coast is good. Rooms and beds are comfortable and staff are helpful. 10 minute walk to the centre of Amalfi and you can get a bus back - stops outside Il Nido
Review 29:Air con didn't appear to work in breakfast room or lounge area, very warm! Not advised of time of breakfast so arrived at 9.50 and fresh fruit all gone and advised no more available.
Review 30:Lovely terrace with sea view and sun loungers and table and chairs. Fantastic view.
Review 31:We were so disapointed when it comes to the breakfast. We came about 30 minutes before the buffe closed and a there was no bread or coffee left. The fruit that they served was moldy(!)... There were dirty dishes on all tables, it seems like the waitress clean the table after the breakfast was over at 1030- which is too bad because it ruins the feeling when dirty dishes are not cleaned from tables.
Review 32:A hotel with good view. The walk to town is not too tiering- ten minutes tops. The room was spacious and clean. Wifi works great.
Review 33:The breakfast really lacked tomatoes (vegetables in general), which are very tasty in Italy. The parking was a problem (lack of space), yet we always managed to get a spot in the garage. Be careful when you give your car keys to park your car, because majority of people in the Amalfi area drive either a scooter (very many) or a small car, which means they do not have the right feeling of dimensions of a bigger car. The result was that the person who parked our car into the garage scratched the lower part of the front bumper. Luckily our car was very well insured so we knew we would fix it back home in no time, but we did not appreciate that the person never confessed and instead said that we scratched our car elsewhere. This was disappointing, especially when it is heard from an adult man. A simple excuse would have been easily accepted, we never intended to ask money or reduce cost of living.
Review 34:The view from the balcony was stunning. Interior in the reception and breakfast areas was really worth simply watching with your eyes as it was very well decorated and clearly with a heart.
Review 35:We spent two nights here and one day and night of that were spent dealing with terrible terrible food poisoning my sister got from the meats at their breakfast. Every time we went down to reception to ask for bags or toilette paper or whatever we needed to take care of her, Mr. Michelle was so begrudging. We got sick from his food, and he couldn't be bothered to help. As we were checking out, we asked to buy bus tickets to positano. He told us that the hotel didn't sell them, even though two days before Francesca told us they did and showed them to us in the top drawer. He told us to walk the 15 minutes into town and when we asked if one of the neighboring hotels would have it, he told me no. And he could not have been more curt. We walked across the street and hotel miramalfi sold us tickets. No problem. Michelle was sour, unhelpful and dampened what should have been an amazing few days here. Oh, and the beds are hard as rock and they charge to rent beach towels. Look elsewhere.
Review 36:This hotel has amazing views and balconies, and an amazing woman at reception names Francesca, but that's where the good ends.
Review 37:The bed was a little too hard for me but really not a problem
Review 38:We loved this family run hotel.. Staff, facilities and views magnificent . The walk into town was very pleasant but prepared to the steps and road side walk. Also they can arrange transportation to and from Naples at a good rate.
Review 39:dirty bedcover. When I pulled the bedcover back there was long blond hair between the cover and the sheets. Very dangerous walk to city centre
Review 40:Beautiful hotel. Very good breakfast. Excellent staff. English speaking
Review 41:Nothing
Review 42:The huge terrasse in front of the sea!!! The possibility of a free parking. 15 minutes walking to Amalfi and 20 minutes walking from the main beach
Review 43:High ceilings, excellent air-conditioning, big room with a fabulous view from the terrace. Breakfast was excellent (continental style) with a view from the breakfast room. Very helpful staff and no problems during our stay.
Review 44:We liked the relaxed atmosphere of this hotel and the location. We were able to walk into the town quite easily. The views from the rooms were spectacular. It was clean and comfortable and we loved it.
Review 45:The breakfast is really disappointing. It is very poor quality and the options are very limited. The fruit was never ripe (except for over-ripe bananas) and the yoghurts and cereals were clearly budget options (which I found amazing because even cheap supermarket options in Italy are generally good/ better than the UK). The pastries are the only saving grace, but that's not much help if you are trying to have one healthy meal in the day... Aside from the cappuccino guy and the cleaner, the staff were frosty and obviously trying to avoid engagement where possible.
Review 46:The main attraction is parking but that is not guaranteed. The owner does his best to shuffle cars around to fit people in so expect to leave your car keys with him. The hotel itself is quite standard and functional. The room was a good size and was very clean.
Review 47:A great holiday. A very friendly family run hotel. A fantastic location and we would stay at this hotel again when we return to Amalfi. Breakfast was great. The room very comfortable and we had a fantastic view from our balcony.
Review 48:- distance to the center and beaches is long; We recomanded to the owner,if it possible,to have a restaurant where can eat, beacause is a long walk to center.
Review 49:we stay for 5 night, the hotel is nice, room is ok,very clean, everyday was cleaning, towelle was change, also toillet objets. The balcony is big and the sea panorama is beautiful.Breakfast is ok, good and fresh pastries. The staff is very kindly, they parked our car in safely and give as all informations we needed. The owner reserved as a nice trip with guide in Pompei and Vesuviu.
Review 50:The Staff were very helpful at all times, even driving the four of us with luggage to the bus station when we couldn't get a taxi in time.
Review 51:Slightly away from the hub bub of the town centre, but within an easy 12 minute walk.
Review 52:Bed is so hard. Great hotel but some rooms starting to feel a little tired. Some maintenance required (door hinge on cupboard broken)
Review 53:Awesome views, big deck, Francesca always helpful
Review 54:We had a very private balcony and a great view; breakfast was nice, also with a view; parking on site; no problems with wifi; short walk to town along side of scenic highway. The hotel has a certain old world charm.
Review 55:totally none!
Review 56:you can see the whole Amalfi and deep blue sea view from the balcony!!!The decoration of the room is beautiful. The staff is gentleman and nice. You can also eat breakfast with the sea view and sunshine~And there is a stop before the hotel for the SIAT Bus.The location is convenient and quiet. We will choose it again if we come back here~
Review 57:Not a problem but you need to be careful when walking into Amalfi as it is on the main road into Amalfi.
Review 58:The view from the balcony is simply stunning. Everything you could ask for in Amalfi. Good sized room (28) and we had a massive terrace as well. Parking was very important for us and there was secure parking in the garage below the hotel.
Review 59:Poor breakfast. Road view on the lower floors.
Review 60:Nice sea view, but you should take 3rd or 4th floor. Room quite big with nice bathroom. Warm in the room in March which is rare in the South of Italy. Hotel has its own parking, but it's not big, so may be crowded during the season.
Review 61:smell of smoke when you entered the lobby. When checking out they tried to charge us for an extra night even though they had the same reservation request as we did- in on the 7th out on the 9th. The guy at reception couldn't get it. After 20 minutes we finally got it straightened out and only paid for 2 nights. If you stay there make sure you check your bill.
Review 62:we liked the view from our room and the dining area. There are a lot of stairs but good exercise. The town of Amalfi is a good 12 minute walk going down seems like forever going back up the hills. It was good exercise and we did it twice a day. The walking area is mostly on the road so the there is traffic coming at you all the time and they are crazy drivers!
Review 63:Not having a car, we had to walk something like 1,5 km everyday to take a bus. But Its OK ... We really needed some phisical exercises :)
Review 64:Situated in a place with a wonderful landscape. The hotel is very cozy, clean, with a large room and bathroom. Breakfast very good. Have parking. Staff excellent. This hotel is what se really wanted on Amalfi Coast.
Review 65:Great location close to main square, bus stop, many walks, bars and restaurants. Clean room. Perfect service. Tasty capuccino at the breakfast. I had a small balcony with incredible views of the Amalfi coast. Good value for money.
Review 66:The room was fairly large but with a large square pillar in the middle - made it a bit difficult to maneuver around. Only one luggage rack was provided, so one suitcase had to be on the floor. Showers didn't drain well, so showering was brief. The car park is across the street and only the very skilled driver should attempt to park in it.- very, very steep and no room to turn around. Let the staff park your car!
Review 67:We had a large, private terrace/balcony to sit on and watch the sun go down. Beautiful breakfast area, light, bright and more wonderful views. Complete coffee bar at breakfast along with a good selection of breakfast items, including plenty of fresh fruit. The lobby area was lovely, and had plenty of room to sit and read or just wait for the rest of your group. The hotel is right on the road, but in Amalfi, there aren't a lot of places to put roads. We came to enjoy watching the daredevil motorcyclists who raced by during daylight hours. Quiet as soon as it was dark.
Review 68:Didn't stay long enough especially as we missed the busy season!!
Review 69:Glad we took no notice of a few negative comments on other reviews. We enjoyed our short stay, liked the decor and very glad to leave my car keys with staff as parking is very difficult. Staff very friendly. Breakfast plentiful and varied. Great views from balcony. It was useful to have a safe in the bedroom. Rooms very clean.
Review 70:Had to leave my car keys at reception just in case it had to be moved to allow any other guests to enter or exit. Next morning I found out that my car had been damaged either by staff or by one of the guests. When I asked for CCTV footage they conveniently said this was out of order, something I did not believe since the garage and main door of the hotel are open for 24 hours and the reception is on the first floor. So certainly it does not make sense for hotel entrances not to be monitored. This episode somewhat spoiled our stay here.
Review 71:Clean room overlooking the sea with a good view of Amalfi harbour. Good breakfast
Review 72:Great views, clean, comfortable rooms with a kind welcoming staff. This family is very kind and accommodating. Easy walk down to town needed a cab or bus back up the hill.
Review 73:A minor thing - the elevator only goes to the 2nd floor and we had to drag our cases up to the 3rd floor.
Review 74:All rooms (apart from one) have large private balconies with views over the ocean. Breakfast is really good and the dining room also overlooks the ocean. Staff are friendly, wifi is fast. It's a 10 minute walk from the centre of Amalfi (uphill) so is quiet for quality sleep.
Review 75:bed and breakfast only, no tea making facilities - restaurants a little far
Review 76:great breakfast, fantastic staff, parking!!! , the view across the sea and the village , bus stop at the door , scenery
Review 77:The hotel is on the main road so it is very noisy during the day. It is aproximately 15 minuts walk to Amalfi and you need to use steps.
Review 78:The view from the room, parking, the size of the room is OK, breakfast regular: yogurt, fruits, cakes.
Review 79:Walk into/from town centre could be difficult because of lack ofpavement & blind corners and taxis aren't a realistic option ona daily basis as very expensive - I.E. we paid 20 euros to get to thebus station less than a mile away on the occasion walking wasn't anoption due to luggage. That said, walk is not particularly far - 15 minsish (at slow pace), and it wouldn't put us off staying again - andcertainly a good exchange for the balcony and views, and we wouldn'thave got by staying in the town. Amalfi itself is beautiful, wecan't wait to go back.
Review 80:Fantastic spacious room with balcony and superb views. Breakfast wasgood too with a decent choice of continental good.
Review 81:The hotel was in a beautiful location just a 10 min walk to amalfi central. Shops, restaurants etc. The room had a fantastic view, large balcony. Room was presented clean. Hotel has alot of old charm character. Blessed to have stayed in such a place and the hotel staff were wonderful :)
Review 82:We had an excellent room with a great view. We we only 15 minutes walk from the center of Amalfi. The staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was great.
Review 83:Nothing.
Review 84:Great location, walk into Amalfi is taxing but this is normal along the whole Amalfi coast. Clean, bright rooms. Superb dining room with excellent views. Breakfast a little sparse but good.
Review 85:they offerd us not the room rate we reserved and paid for. we received the room only after we argeued. niysy located on the maen roud. the walk to the center is very dangerous. difficalt to clime on the way back.
Review 86:Great location, fantastic view from the terrace of the room and very generous breakfast. Less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of Amalfi. Lovely staff.
Review 87:It was the most expensive place that we stayed in and while it is great; the high season prices aren't really value for money
Review 88:If you want to have a little break from the crowds of the centre and are prepared to walk hundreds of stairs then this is your place. We sat on the balcony and looked out over the water :)
Review 89:111 steps up to our room which was a great workout several times a day. We were on the top floor. Ok for us but if you struggle with stairs this would be a problem.
Review 90:Great view from the balcony overlooking the ocean and back to Amalfi. Free wifi, free car parking and breakfast included. We liked being a little out of Amalfi - 10 minutes walking, maybe 15 minutes back.
Review 91:We loved our room, which overlooked the Bay of Amalfi The breakfast was very good, great choise of meats, cereal, fruit and lovely coffee. The location worked for us as we like to walk. Only a short walk to the downtown area. Also the Bus stopped right outside of the Hotel The room had an amazing view of the Medeteranian .
Review 92:rooms were not so clean. bathroom was very old.
Review 93:Good location, a walking distance to Amalfi No problem with parking our car.(free of charge) Friendly staff Nice breakfast Excellent sea view
Review 94:I can't think of a single thing I didn't like.
Review 95:The staff were wonderful and spoke English. We had a crisis (broke arm) and we phoned them for help and they did everything they could to assist. The view is absolutely out of this world. Stunning! Every morning it was a delight to get up to another variation of the view, depending on what the weather was doing. The breakfasts were delicious with a wide range of tempting food. We also enjoyed the typically Italian decor which fitted so well with the location. A big plus was the free parking. A very well run hotel indeed. Highly recommended.
Review 96:We were living at 3rd floor, the room has a balcony with very nice view of the see! Perfect location, not in the town, but just 10 min walking.
Review 97:Only complaint was the wifi....it was intermittent.
Review 98:Martino was outstanding and ready to please. Rooms were well equipped and charming...and with a beautiful view. Breakfast was nice, and again, customer service was among the best in Italy.
Review 99:Hotel was very clean, great view, good breakfast, friendly staff, nicely furnished. We got used to the walk to town and back, although a bit much in the heat.
Review 100:It's obviously an old hotel. Our door handle looked like it would fall off. But aside from that no complaints.
Review 101:Lovely hotel with wonderful sea views. The balcony we had in our room had an amazing view! The staff is friendly and helpful. Importantly, parking is free. Amalfi is only a 10 minute walk away so it's pretty quiet in the evenings. Breakfast buffet was yummy!
Review 102:No laundry facilities as we were travelling we needed to wash
Review 103:The view and the location not far out of town
Review 104:Excellent value for money!!
Review 105:None
Review 106:Nice view, Confortable
Review 107:Nothing to say here.
Review 108:The room is fine with good sea view. The breakfast is fine. The service is excellent and help you. Good advice and helpful.
Review 109:Walk to get there
Review 110:Fantastic view from our balcony!
Review 111:Personell is a bit lazy, breakfast is just ok.
Review 112:Location, view, nice decor, room nd balcony.

Review 114:stunning view from hoteroom balcony. V helpful staff+reception
Review 115:We liked everything: Short, easy walk to Amalfi center, nice room, great view, informative front desk staff.
Review 116:Bed not too comfortable, very basic breakfast
Review 117:Helpful staff. We were offered a free bottle of Prosecco. Nice view from top level patio. Large room
Review 118:Steep walk including many stairs down into the town
Review 119:Private terrace overlooking view. Parking available.
Review 120:Lightings on deck did not work. After reporting this they still were not fixed. Two bulbs out in main bedroom. No hot water to take shower.
Review 121:nothing
Review 122:Great view from the room of the sea. Very romantic setting. Free parking. great service
Review 123:The bed was too hard and not too sure that cake is right for breakfast
Review 124:Very clean, tidy and friendly and the views were fantastic
Review 125:-Sea view with sunbeds !!! - kindness of staff
Review 126:The staff are excellent and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.
Review 127:Lovely room high up with balcony which had a gorgeous view down to a amalfi. Nice breakfast, with good selection.
