Reviews for Hotel La Bussola
Review 1:None. Except the green colour of the table linen. That needs updating.
Review 2:My room with balcony gave me a stunning view as I had hoped and certainly paid for. The staff were happy and friendly and assisted me with my dietary needs. I look forward to returning.
Review 3:The hotel seemed to be partly closed with few staff, particularly at 10.00pm when we returned to find no one in Reception and our passports on clear display behind the counter. The bar was also shut which seemed inappropriate in a 4 star establishment.
Review 4:Very good position for exploring Amalfi.
Review 5:We requested an earlier breakfast( before 7.30) as we were goung on a trip. On arriving at the restaurant at 7.15 we were turned away by staff. Similarly on day of departure we were not able to get a hot drnnk prior to an early departure of 6 am. A packed breakfast was supplied. We have received better service at some other hotels.
Review 6:Very good location and very comfortable room with balcony. Good range of breakfast foods.
Review 7:I love the location. Just to sit on my balcony and see the ocean that close in front of me is magical. This is our second stay in this hotel and we have suggested this hotel to many of our friends and not one of them has not loved it. It is absolutely beautiful.
Review 8:The towels were like large tea towels and did not dry as well as fluffy towels do. Everything else was a bit dated, but perfectly fine.
Review 9:The staff were very helpful and rectified any problems very quickly, such as replacing a broken hairdryer and supplying an adapter. The view from the room was amazing. The location is perfect to walk into town and to the harbour, but still nice and quiet at night.
Review 10:nothing bad to write about : ) mountain coastal road is a bit hair raising but fine if travelling on the bus.
Review 11:Staff are very helpful with bookings and directions. great experience would visit again. Views over harbour are great, bus service is really good although not always on time. Bars and places to eat are plentiful and food is great. Breakfast at La Bussola is lovely and good variety for choice.
Review 12:The reception staff were excellent they were so helpful nothing was to mouch for them I cannot praise them Enough. Our flight was cancelled so we had to stay over another night they did everything to try and help us book another flight, charge our phones for us book us another taxi everything they could to make us feel less stressful as we were worrying how we were going to get back home. All I can say is myself and my friends highly recommended this hotel the location was ideal.
Review 13:The bathroom was very clean but a little dated. Breakfast was poor room for improvement. A swimming pool would have been good as it was hot when we were there. No tea & coffee in the room.
Review 14:The position of the hotel was perfect the view outstanding. A short walk to town with shops and some lovely restaurants The staff in this hotel were helpful and very pleasant nothing was too much trouble.
Review 15:Airconditioning did not work or worked inadequately. Bar fridge worked inadequately. These problems were not adequately rectified but staff did provide an electric fan for us. For the price we would expect the air-conditioning and fridge to be in good working order.
Review 16:Very professional helpful staff. Location was incredibly good with breathtaking view from our 3rd storey room. Lovely little balcony. Nice breakfast. Terrace was fantastic.
Review 17:Pets were allowed The first room we were given had urine odor but it quickly changed when we complained The front desk was accomodating. The rest of our stay was pleasant
Review 18:Centrally located
Review 19:Breakfast could have been of a higher standard given the cost of the rooms
Review 20:Beautiful location wonderful views from the bedroom. Lovely family run hotel even though the waiters were a bit brusque at breakfast.
Review 21:Air conditioner didn't work..., offered us a fan.
Review 22:The location is perfect, with amazing views. The hotel is a few minutes walk to everything you need in Amalfi
Review 23:The first room we were assigned was terrible, old furniture, depressing colours and setup, old and stained bathroom. An employee at the reception was very rude and unhelpful. Every time we asked for something or complained about the room she would say she can't help us because we did our booking through Booking.com; it felt like we were second class citizens.
Review 24:The hotel is conveniently located close to the marina which made logistics easy as we were taking the ferry almost every day.
Review 25:A comfortable clean hotel with wonderful views from the frontal rooms of the Marina and Amalfi itself. It's location is perfect for taking both boats and buses to explore this fabulous coastline. The staff are all very friendly and very helpful.
Review 26:I didn't like the ants in the bedroom, the swimming area in the marina (petroleum film on water), nor the price.
Review 27:The location, close to Amalfi center, was good.
Review 28:the breakfast was the same everyday, with a limited variety.
Review 29:The staff are adorable; the view excellent; the room is spacious and has a very nice design. The location is excellent, next to everything.
Review 30:Fantastic location close to everything but far enough from the main square that it was not too noisy. Private sundeck and swimming beach. Very helpful staff - a family run business.
Review 31:Breakfast could have been better e.g. more free choices of egg
Review 32:The hotels jetty - very nice to jump into the sea when it got too hot The nice staff and that I got free parking without even asking !
Review 33:Restaurant (breakfast and dinner) only average - lack of real choice in food/drink selection Thin walls - you can hear EVERYTHING! Seafront 'beach area' cramped
Review 34:Convenient location for Amalfi Coast transport Friendly and efficient Cheaper than average bar drinks
Review 35:The location is perfect, with amazing views. The hotel is a few minutes walk to everything you need in Amalfi, good breakfast selection and valet parking available. It has a private swimming area opposite the hotel with staff to look after you
Review 36:Great location right next to the centre of Amalfi town. It offers a great private area in the sea with their own staff. The guy there is very nice & helpful
Review 37:Poor wi-fi connectivity, worked on the balcony not in the room. No English movies. Very minor details...
Review 38:Excellent and very helpful staff! Superb location, great food. Good value for money
Review 39:The room (and the hotel in general) needs renovation. Because of the attempt of the hotel, like the rest of the city, to save power (for Environmental protection) you can't leave the room with the conditioner on, or going out to the room's balcony, without the conditioner shutting down.
Review 40:The location- close to the port and the buses stations. We liked the privat beach. The breakfast was OK.
Review 41:The hotel smells of disinfectant. Needs a blanket on the bed or at least in the room.
Review 42:The location was beautiful, close to walk to the beach and town. This hotel has a private sunbathing deck right on the water's edge, which was a lot nicer than joining the hundreds of tourists on the other beaches. Enjoyed the breakfast - probably the best we had in the whole of Italy.
Review 43:WiFi could be better. we only really need it for travel related info, i.e; restaurant reservations and reviews, places of interest, local transportation timetables ect. we don't go on holiday to surf the net and watch TV but everyone need easy/fast access to the internet these days.
Review 44:Great location. clean, spotless room with beautiful views of Amalfi's pretty harbour. 3 minute walk to the bus pick up/drop off and ferry terminals. nice breakfast area with many options. We were recommended by the front desk staff to Le Nereidi restaurant for our 30th wedding anniversary dinner. Wow, Wow, Wow!! They will pick up and drop you off to this beautiful spot up high above Almalfi, the views, setting and food were awesome! We were there for a 9 o'clock dinner so the stunning pool area was closed for the day but can imagine how lovely it would be to spend an afternoon up there. For a fee you can go up and enjoy the pool, towels, views, drinks and food. Especially nice if your hotel does not have a pool and you prefer a little more tranquility from the lovely but busy public beaches. We loved our stay at La Bussola and would highly recommend!
Review 45:Wi-fi was very patchy at it's best, but then again you remind yourself that you're on vacation. :)
Review 46:The staff were amazingly friendly & helpful from the get go! The location was absolutely central, right next to the ferry and bus stops. The views from our room was amazing. In fact I reckon the partial sea view rooms have a better vantage point than the full sea view rooms. The hotel has an amazing breakfast spread and also has its own private sun beds and beach space!!
Review 47:Nothing
Review 48:We were given a room on the 3rd floor with beautiful sea views. The room was very spacious, and clean. The breakfast was very good, and a wide selection, including bacon and eggs if you wished. Staff very helpful, at all times. The ferry is only a 5 minute walk, and many restaurants 5 minutes. Would recommend this hotel.
Review 49:The toilet was blocked on th4e first and second day , when it happenagain on the third day I demanded another room .although I believe therewere room available of the same type we were only offered a much smallerroom . the breakfast is really poor , in the building everything is oldwith door not closing properly. Most of the people working there are notfriendly and everything youask seems to be a problem. We were there for11 night and I wished I checked out after the 3rd day..it seems that therunning budget for the hotel has been cut to the bone and that isreflected in the hotel workers attitude .will go back to Amalfi but willnot stay in this hotel . it says that is 4 stars , I will not give themeven 1 star qagain
Review 50:The position of the building .so close to the center of Amalfi
Review 51:The queen size bed was in reality two adequate twins, joined but not all that well.
Review 52:Lovely room with stunning view. Gives the impression of a very well run, family hotel.
Review 53:The staff had some characters in the front desk that are unpleasant. The room, while it had a great view was small. There was an extra charge for parking that I was not aware of
Review 54:Te best locación in Amalfi
Review 55:The staff member that helped with luggage was loudly rude and disrespectful to our driver, he then recklessly dragged our suitcases to the lobby...we were lucky bags were not broken. Manager totally unresponsive to our complaints. Air conditioner didn't work...very nice night clerk tried to help, finally offered us a fan. The next morning, the Manager told us, it wasn't that hot and no need to complain. The experience was so bad it left a negative feeling of one of our most favorite vacation places.we would highly encourage anyone looking for a wonderful Amalfi experience to avoid this hotel.they are disrespectful, rude and inconsiderate. We will return to Amalfi and avoid this hotel. Way too much money for a terrible experience
Review 56:Amalfi is beautiful and hotel location is convenient...view is nice.
Review 57:The decor and amenities were very dated. While the old tiles and woodwork was charming, the bedding was just old and ugly. The towels were very thin, hard and scratchy. The hair dryer was something from the 50’s, and the wifi was not very reliable. This hotel would be perfect with just a few updates.
Review 58:The location was amazing...right on the water with wonderful views. The front desk staff was friendly and courteous, and always willing to help.
Review 59:The hotel is very clean and well looked after but desperately needs updating, in particular the bathrooms.
Review 60:The hotel is in a great location by the port and an easy walk to restaurants, shops, beach, etc. Reception staff gave us useful information on activities and the breakfast staff were friendly. We were upgraded to a better room.
Review 61:The bathrooms could do with some updating. Rooms are not well soundproofed.
Review 62:Pleasant, welcoming and very helpful staff. Excellent location right on the seafront - just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Amalfi and the pier for the ferries to Sorrento, Capri and Positano. Beautiful views. Valet parking. Proximity to some excellent restaurants.
Review 63:Location is wonderful, close to town and all transportation for seeing the Amalfi Coast. The staff was very friendly and helpful whenever we needed answers about transportation and restaurants.
Review 64:The air conditioner didn't really work that well. Even on the coolest setting it really didn't change the temperature of the room. Not a big deal as we slept with the windows open!
Review 65:Location, location, location. The view was phenomenal. Within walking distance to bus station. Street access.
Review 66:The beds are not comfortable at all. We requested a double bed and our room was eqquiped with two single beds put together.
Review 67:Location is excellent, only a few steps from the touristic port and the bus station. It's also very close to Amalfi's main square with the Duomo and many restaurants, stores and gellatos!
Review 68:nothing
Review 69:the staff were pleasant very helpful they had their own Mr Go To what ever you wanted were ever you wanted to he could arrange it the position was perfect just a short flat stroll to the center will be coming back
Review 70:Customer service was lacking upon check-in we were advised one of our tours were cancelled and rather than speaking to us the ladies preferred to have a conversation at length with one another about the situation. We arrived late and asked if the restaurant was still open.. they said yes and made a booking. They failed to explain that we'd be ordering a set menu full course meal when all we were after was a light snack. The hotel has no sound proofing so the noise from the street travels easily. The rooms were nice but not clean, mini bar was dirty and there is dust everywhere. Breakfast looks to be nice but is really disorganised. The tables are not fully set so you are forever chasing down spoons, sugar, salt and pepper and it is very heavy of breads and pastries, little in the way of fresh fruit or salad which is surprising given the area.
Review 71:The hotel is very conveniently located to the local town centre, bus stop and ferry access points.
Review 72:The drive to and from Amalfi. May I suggest the ferry?
Review 73:Location of hotel, breakfast, sense of spareness and light in room; balcony overlooking sea, fishing boats; color and lights of Amalfi, lovely people, good food.
Review 74:This is not a 4 stars hotel. They are making maintenance to put it nice but even at the hotel's map is it rated as a 3*.
Review 75:The location is very good. The views from our room were lovely even though they gave us a 1st floor room. Clean and tidy but don't expect a 4* because it is not.
Review 76:From the attitude of the staff got the feeling that this was the end of the season - and they were glad. One member of the reception staff was helpful and the chambermaid very good; dining room staff at breakfast very poor indeed. "Can I have a clean knife please" - Reply - "over there" with just a nod of head in the general direction was typical. Indeed, the breakfast was probably the worst I have experienced in any 3 or 4 star hotel. With all the lovely fruit available in the markets they served tinned pineapple and prunes every day. Whilst perhaps an Italian 'specialty' I thought the plate of cold beans and cauliflower both strange - and looked very unappetising. As a result we didn't eat in the hotel in the evening, so can't comment on that.
Review 77:Excellent position - arguably the best in the town. Hotel spacious inside; we had a deluxe room which was very good - corner room with balcony on front and side. We liked the bar on the ground floor - shame there wasn't on on the small roof terrace - would have been lovely. However, overall, felt the hotel was somewhat overpriced - especially bearing in mind the comments below.
Review 78:Unfortunately the bed was way too hard
Review 79:Our room was a really good size as was the bathroom. We had a lovely view of the ocean with a little balcony which was a joy to sit and relax and enjoy the view. The staff were very friendly and happy to provide recommendations for restaurants which I must say were really good so make sure you ask. This is a traditional Italian hotel and we certainly enjoyed our staff here.
Review 80:Breakfast ok. Car parking a bit tight for larger cars and number of places limited .
Review 81:We were just stopping one night on our way to Puglia so wanted hotel that had car parking and was close to Amalfi . All provided by the hotel . Room overlooked the bay and had a nice promenade outside to walk the 3 minutes to Amalfi .
Review 82:Restaurant, bar staff could be more customer-focused/less formal. Over-firm bed. Shower head too low.
Review 83:Superb position, spacious room. Excellent, perceptive cleaning staff.
Review 84:Air conditioning was not the easiest to use and the bright colours in the decor may not appeal to everyone.
Review 85:Very good location, convenient for buses and ferries. Good view from the balcony and fourth floor terrace bar. Large room. Fair prices for bar drinks.
Review 86:With-fi was troublesome at times. Poor connection. TV in room wasn't working most nights. Some guests were noisy late in the evening interrupting sleep.
Review 87:Staff were most obliging. Would recommend this hotel to any traveller. Good value for money. Walking distance to town centre and public transport.
Review 88:The bathroom had a musty smell.
Review 89:The view of the harbour and Amalfi from our room. We loved being able to walk out the door with several beaches at our fingertips. It is a great jumping off spot for Positano, ferries, and boats to beach side restaurants. The staff were so helpful and made wonderful recommendations for restaurants, made bookings for us, and couldn't be more accomodating. We will stay again and recommend La Bussola to our friends.
Review 90:Nothing!
Review 91:We ended up getting married in ravello and stayed at bussolla. They were absolutely amazing! You won't find a better hotel In amalfi for customer service, excellent views and an all round wonderful helpful experience !
Review 92:Although typical of amalfi coast the inability to keep room cool while out, also you could not sit on terrace without shutting a/c, they need new hair dryers
Review 93:Location , access to private deck on bay
Review 94:Beds could be more comfortable Limited breakfast choices Car park very tight Tea / Coffee facility in room would have been nice.
Review 95:Location could not be better, 5 mins from town. Staff very helpful Views from room Wi-Fi Mini-bar
Review 96:Rooms were quite small, which is typical for the area of Amalfi howevershower was tiny to the point I couldn't bend down to clean my feetand I'm quite a slim guy. Breakfast was good but not great comparedto others we experienced on the trip
Review 97:Everything was great. Location, clean, front beach deck chairs werefree (not 30 Euro for two as you would pay on most beaches) Staffwere helpful.
Review 98:Hotel La Bussola is a very nice, well kept hotel located across the street from the scenic harbor and a short walk to the center of Amalfi. The friendly staff is very knowledgeable on restaurants and fun activities to do on the Amalfi Coast. The manager Vincennes was great! His advice helped make my family's first trip to Amalfi a brilliant lifetime experience. Our two rooms were large with plenty of space for three adults in each room and a beautiful view from our balcony.
Review 99:No pool on hotel site Limited access to beach Rocks, not sand on beach Marine fuel in water Crowds
Review 100:Location Access to Amalfi shopping and transport Weather General hotel facilities Helpful staff
Review 101:Daily fee for safe if you want to use it. This should really be free in a four star hotel.
Review 102:The location is great, just by the marina and bus station in Amalfi. It also has a little private "beach" right in front of it which is nice in Amalfi where the bagnis are either over-expensive or over-crowded.
Review 103:Swimming attendant can be quite sulky if you haven't tipped him on arrival. Driving in the the hotel can be quite awkward depending on the time of day. Never a problem in a Fiat 500, but definitely an Audi A6.
Review 104:This was a wonderful hotel for a family, with a friendly, chatty lobby staff, a short walk to the private swimming platform across the road in the boat harbour, good complimentary breakfast, and a short stroll to Amalfi village area. The stroll was well worth it, as it gives the hotel a degree of tranquility. Old world charm and a fantastic introduction to Italy.
Review 105:There was a smell in our room that seemed to be coming from the air conditioning unit- staff were informed and looked into it but it didn't fully fix the problem. I notice other reviewers mentioned the same thing in the past.
Review 106:Location was excellent, walking distance to marina and town centre. Clean. Very friendly staff.
Review 107:This hotel is ideally located right in town, allowing you to explore the town and easily walk back to the room, many hotels are high up the hills and prove difficult to get to or walk back requiring use of a car or expensive taxis. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Amalfi.
Review 108:The bedrooms were lovely but the decor in the rest of the hotel is a little dated. The breakfast could be better, the coffee was not very hot.
Review 109:When we arrived by ferry, the hotel was so convenient to just walk to with our wheelie cases. We liked the sun loungers inside the harbour wall and being able to swim in the sea. The view from our balcony was lovely.
Review 110:My teenage sons didn't think the wifi was strong enough and the bed was a little hard, but the room was a really good size.
Review 111:Location was awesome and enchanting. Loved the balcony that opened to the ocean and street below. Easy to walk anywhere, food/boats/shopping and the people were so nice and helpful! I would definitely stay there again!
Review 112:Nothing to dislike
Review 113:The location, the view from our balcony the variety of fresh food for breakfast. The private beach area. Nothing not to dislike. Great place to stay close to ferry and bus to enjoy the amazing Amalfi coast.
Review 114:nothing comes to mind....
Review 115:The location was excellent , right in town within walking distance to shops, restaurants & everything...view was great & the staff was extremely friendly and helpful in giving info about transportation options, schedules etc...breakfast good for Europe standards....
Review 116:Although we slept very well, the beds were hard. The bedding definitely needs an update to be more luxurious. Does need a gym.
Review 117:Vincenzo at reception accommodated us very well. The location was fabulous. Our room had a Jacuzzi tub. The staff was great and very helpful.Decor was beautiful classic Italian. They always went out of their way to get us a coffee even after breakfast hours. Would stay here again! They helped arrange a driver to pick us up from Napoli. Very relaxing and wonderful vacation.
Review 118:I'd like to complement Hotel La Bussola on the great service, clean room and wonderful breakfast. Location is terrific - only a 5 min walk to the picturesque town, beach and port. Cheers to the great reception team!
Review 119:apparently it rains in Amafi.
Review 120:good location, very friendly staff
Review 121:View from balcony was unbelievable .
Review 122:Room in disrepair, e.g. unable to enjoy view as shutter clasps missing, basin blocked, terrible smell, linen not changed. .
Review 123:Location
Review 124:View from the balcony and sound of the sea was lovely.
Review 125:The room was a good size with a lovely terrace .
Review 126:Restaurant
Review 127:Poor breakfast
Review 128:Sea View
Review 129:Superb location; lovely room
Review 130:Breakfast could be improved. Comfort of bed could be improved. No tea and coffee facilities in room.
Review 131:Location. Staff helpful and friendly.
Review 132:Noizy. Can not sleap.
Review 133:Good lokation but...
Review 134:Bed, air conditioning, only one key per room
Review 135:Location, staff
