Reviews for Hotel Aurora
Review 1:We thought we had a sea view but were shown to a small room with no balcony and you had to stick your head out of the window to see the sea. The woman who showed us into the room left very quickly and we had to run after her. We had to pay an extra £100 per night for a better room which had a great view
Review 2:The beautiful room and view but we had to pay a lot to get it.
Review 3:Just a few comfort notes, we stayed in suite #3, the only windows in the apartment looked out onto a painfully small deck with the only view being of the back of the adjacent building. If you wanted to see what the weather was like you had to look straight up into the sky at a very small opening. The hotel linens smelt heavily of vinegar from laundering which was not pleasant. The couch was terribly uncomfortable but not nearly as bad as the bed which was like sleeping on a park bench. The upside is that you're in amalfi, you won't spend much time in your room and if you want to have a coffee or wine with the view of the sea, just walk to one of the many beautiful restaurants near by.
Review 4:The Aurora residence is not located with the hotel, it's at the other end of Amalfi but is very well situated near public transit and the beach. There was plenty of space as its a small apartment and as far as European standards are concerned it was very well equipped.
Review 5:Can't think of anything!
Review 6:Lovely comfortable apartment in a good location. Close enough to walk to the main sights and enough distance from the busy town in Summer.
Review 7:The wifi didn't work during our stay
Review 8:Staff were extremely friendly, informative and helpful. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. Great location, just 5 minutes walk into the very centre of Amalfi
Review 9:Andrew was amazing. Gave us an early check in, was very friendly and provided excellent service all round. The breakfast was great and had amazing views. I was sick on the last day but was given a late check out. Andrew allowed us to relax in comfort for the afternoon and squeezed some fresh lemon into some hot water for me.
Review 10:The location of the hotel was great! We were at the end of the marina and had an amazing ocean view from our room. Very comfy and spacious room! Out door terrace was breathtaking and decorated in the local fashion. We did share with our neighbors, but everyone was very friendly!
Review 11:Air Conditioning was not too cool the first night, but the staff did find a way to get it colder and help us out the second and third nights.
Review 12:Loved the location just off the beaten path but a short walk from everything. Private beach was a great option that we used, but should probably be included in the price of the rooms instead of an extra charge if possible.
Review 13:No tea making facility a dissapointment
Review 14:Good location breakfast good value clean and very friendly would go back sunbeds on viranda great idea fridge in room to keep wine etc in a bonus better than the 7.9 it scored easy a 8.5
Review 15:Mediocre breakfast charged at e10 each - we declined; air conditioning in room was a powerful as an asthmatic ant - in fairness when we mentioned this in the morning the manager was disappointed not to have been given a chance to fix it for us. Also be aware that Italian bin men start work at around 5.30am and seem to choose the harbour area to do their noisiest work
Review 16:Close to centre of Amalfi, great views out over the harbour, well apportioned rooms with great fittings
Review 17:Booking.com showed this as a four star hotel with an 83% saving on the normal price. In fact, it was just the normal price and the hotel felt more like a three star.
Review 18:The breathtaking view from the balcony of our room overlooked the Mediterranean. The room was very large and beautifully decorated in seaside decor. They even provided a shuttle to a local restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. A lovely stay and a great value.
Review 19:Breakfast 10 euro's, Private beach 15 euro's even to swim, pretty rude fella on front desk, 2 single beds with a double sheet over it. 3* not 4* in my opinion and very expensive
Review 20:Wifi was good
Review 21:Met by lovely British guy called Andy (Bolton accent quite bizzare in amalfi!) We were told we were staying in apartment which was 10 mins away - actually very clean and safe in a better location - very central. All in all very good and excellent vale for money
Review 22:We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and absolutely loved it. It was clean, spacious and in a great location. I wish we could have stayed longer and If I ever get the chance to get back to Amalfi, I will definitely stay there again.
Review 23:We have just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday in Amalfi at this hotel. The Aurora is in a quiet location overlooking the marina a short walk from town centre. All the hotel staff were extremely professional, friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. And all speak excellent English. A special thank you to Andrew (from Bolton) & Andrea who gave us lots of good information & advice about places to visit & were always ready to help. The hotel was very clean & everything worked properly. We had room 33 on 3rd floor with a large terrace overlooking the sea - just perfect. The hotel has a beautiful terrace where breakfast is served, the terrace is also a nice quiet shady area to escape the mid afternoon heat with a cool drink / pot of tea. We will definitely return to this hotel.
Review 24:A bar underneath apartment played jazz music until midnight Friday and Saturday night but it is also a pleasant bar to chill in
Review 25:We stayed in one of the aurora apartments which was very spacious and stylish. 15 minutes walk along seafront to the hotel where we paid 15€ for two sun beds and shades. This was a quieter beach for our granddaughter and you got 'beach service' from the local cafe. Turn left from apartment entrance and you walk through the old town walls and end up on the cathedral steps (10 minutes) I loved everything about this holiday and willbook same apartment next time.
Review 26:Had rented a car, big mistake, this is not an area for easy driving around. The roads are incredibly narrow and busy and parking, if it can be found, is very expensive. Although the EUR20 per day parking charge for the Aurora seems steep the local parking charges are between EUR3 and EUR5 PER HOUR, with no daily maximum. The local transport facilities are very good all along the coast and very reasonable. Leave the driving to the locals.
Review 27:The hotel is a short and easy walk from the center of Amalfi. In an area noted for its steps this was very welcome. We were looking for somewhere close to the sea and with good views and the Aurora did not disappoint. We had a very nice room on the top floor, great views, with a spacious balcony that included table, chairs and sun-loungers. The hotel facilities, although basic, are very well maintained and very clean, room was made up every day. Amalfi itself is a very busy and lively place, it being a main bus and boat terminus for the area, am sure it gets very crowded at peak season. However it makes it easy to get around and visits to Ravello (a must) and Positano, Sorrento, Capri, etc are easy to plan. The local bus service is very cheap and frequent and an ideal way to get around the crazy winding roads of the area. The Amalfi coast itself is astonishing, the views incomparable, the postcards do not lie. Do not miss Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, but go early to avoid the crowds.
Review 28:Service was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble. This hotel is away from any noise and only a 5 min walk to the centre. Virtually hidden in its private little cove. It has it's own private beach, but the best bit is when you book a room on the third floor overlooking the bay you have your own large balcony equipped with sunbeds and a table and two chairs. Breakfast was excellent, wide variety and choice. Special mention goes to Andrea, Andrew and the night man Walter. Cannot wait to go again.
Review 29:Perhaps the breakfast was a bit pricey at 10 Euros for what we got. There was nothing else to dislike about this hotel
Review 30:On first arrival the staff excellent and helpful, and friendly. We were a bit early, so we left our bags and went for a walk Our room was clean and spacious, and we had a wonderful view of the sea with a balcony with lounging chairs and chairs and table, though we didn't have much time to relax on that. The breakfast was ok, but at an extra cost. It was very close to all the action without the crowds and noise.
Review 31:Parking was overpriced, breakfast was unappealing and the furniture and design of the rooms was very dated. Our room was significantly overpriced for what was, by all accounts, the low season.
Review 32:Wi-Fi was surprisingly good. We didn't even know we'd get in-room Wi-Fi for free when we booked but it turned out to be both free and fast. The hotel is very clean and the private balconies are huge and furnished. Location is great. Might seem distant from city center but it's a 5 minute or less walk along the flat waterfront rather than a climb up the mountain to the nominally closer hotels.
Review 33:No gym! It was advertised as having a fitness room, but when we asked the front desk attendant, he told us we would have to go into town and pay to use the gym there. The room was very noisy with no protection from sound (thin walls, thin door, etc) We were in the room when hotel staff came around to check the mini-bar, and the staff member did not knock before entering our room. We heard keys in the door and then we had to yell out that we were in the room. It made us feel uncomfortable in the room thinking that people might barge in. We asked for clean towels, but it was after 4pm and they were not able to provide any because the cleaning staff had gone home. We waited until the next morning at 8am to get 2 new towels. Heard loud clanging every morning... Sounded like a restaurant was next door preparing food
Review 34:Easy to get to from the ferry Friendly front desk staff who spoke English
Review 35:Location was perfect, beautiful views, rooms were superb, don't forget to ask for a room with a balcony, it is worth it. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough to help. Wifi was excellent. Everything is walking distance from this delightful hotel, it is located just past the harbour, no need to walk up any big hills after a day out. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 36:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 37:Excellent location. Far enough away from central part of town but close enough for easy walking. Charming, comfortable rooms. Good bathrooms. Gorgeous breakfast area and other public areas. Very nice staff.
Review 38:Excellent staff and location. Superior room with a huge terrace for lounging in the sun. Breakfast worth the extra 10 Euros - served al fresco on a breakfast terrace. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 39:A lot of stairs ..elevator only goes part of the way. Other room with our party had no view . .
Review 40:Our room had an incredible fourth floor terrace with a view Amalfi waterfront. Enjoyed the breakfast terrace, the small but private beach and easy walk to the main town. The staff were multilingual and very helpful.
Review 41:We stayed with 3 kids. Hotel management helped with larger size rooms, so we could stay in comfort. Great staff, nice location, value for money. Toms Baumanis
Review 42:Courtyard view is actually a pathway but the terrace makes up for it!
Review 43:Breakfast and drinks on the Terrace overlooking the water. The Hotel is only 50 steps from a private beach and the wharf.
Review 44:Our room smelt very strongly of cigarettes when we arrived and needed to leave the window wide open to get some fresh air in - not ideal when it's 30 degrees out! Breakfast was fine but for €10pp, not worth it - go into town and have a feast (& a decent coffee).
Review 45:This hotel is a short walk into town - very nice along the water front. The reception staff were always friendly and pleasant.
Review 46:We cannot make a judgement on its food and beverage having not partaken so for us it was a hotel without any negative issues.
Review 47:We liked the location, near the beach and a short walk from the town, all on the level and easy to get to and it was quiet both night and day. The room was clean, it was cool with an a/c, it had everything we required. The front desk service was excellent in their suggestions for dinner and other attractions and attentive for any query we might care to make. In all when we asked each other 'whether we would stay here again?" The resounding answer was "Yes, no doubt, but probably with a more expensive sea-view. It is a good hotel made better by its service,
Review 48:Staff member at desk not informative, or hospitable. Apartment room not in the same building as reception , we had to wait for collegue to re-greet us. Only to be told it's €5 per suitcase for staff member to take to apartment(situated in the main square)
Review 49:A self contained apartment.
Review 50:Location near port, friendly staff, coffee on terrace, terrace in room, short walk to town along water front.
Review 51:The alleged terai was useless
Review 52:All the extra's every thing was provided including a cocktail shaker.
Review 53:Bathroom dated
Review 54:Friendly staff Views
Review 55:Small bathroom/ no safe in room/water pressure in bathroom is weak/over price
Review 56:Terrace
Review 57:Good location in harbour = short walk away from town centre
Review 58:Centrally located. Safe. Quiet
Review 59:Every thing! It was amazing!
Review 60:No View
Review 61:Lots of Room
Review 62:Location. The town of amalfi, exellent sea views
Review 63:Otelin konumu çok iyi. Personel, özellikle Endrue güler yüzlü, cana yakın. Teşekkür ediyorum.
Review 64:no windows in the apartment
Review 65:great location, clean, roomy, comfortable apartment.
Review 66:Rooms Staff Location Wi-fi
Review 67:it was a good value for the price. clean and staff helpful
Review 68:A bit dates and old fashioned, it could do with a revamp.
Review 69:Staff were very friendly and helpful Location
Review 70:Excellent location ,lovely room with nice furniture and a terrace overlooking the busy marina. Good aircon ,nice bathroom with bath and shower.Good breakfast especially when able to have it on the terrace. Charming ,helpful staff. Overall a very enjoyable 5 night stay
Review 71:Getting to & from Amalfi (wow)
Review 72:Apart from the location, the excellent, caring & genuine customer service, the breakfast terrace view & the breakfast itself. The hotel and the excellent apartment. Totally recommend this hotel. Also well priced transfers if required.
Review 73:I would not consider this hotel to be a 4 star. The only outside space was set out with metal chair used for breakfast and no comfortable chairs for either reading or sunbathing. No snacks served. A voucher could be bought for a private beach across from hotel but we could only sit in the furthest area where the sun was blocked off from 3.30pm
Review 74:I loved the location and the place was spotlessly clean
Review 75:No balcony. Only 1 toilet and shower for use of 4 adults. Fairly expensive although all accommodation in the area is.
Review 76:Apartment was spacious and very clean, in a quiet location very close to town centre and seafront. Well equipped except for kettle. We requested a cafetiere for making coffee and hotel provided this.
Review 77:The car park to the left of the hotel, detracted from the ambience of the hotel.
Review 78:We had a room with a balcony and a great view over Amalfi. It was a short walk into the centre of Amalfi and was conveniently located for catching buses and ferries for day trips.
Review 79:just a small suggestion for tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice
Review 80:the location is perfect, just a short walk to centre of Amalfi, shops and restaurants. Stunning views from our room which had lovely terrace with sunbeds and above all the excellent staff so helpful and friendly, can't wait to go back.
Review 81:Sadly, the rain impacted all but one day, but that is the risk we take traveling off season.
Review 82:Great value for the money. Location perfect for seeing towns on either side.
Review 83:aircondition of initially given room did not work. and repaired staff smoking in the room make it stink to stay. hotel price is pretty high and hotel does not provide breakfast.
Review 84:general conditions of hotel in such busy and roads-narrow harbour city.
Review 85:This relates to the Aurora apartments, which are 700m from the main hotel. Didn't like: bikes a bit noisy with outside parking area until 10-11 at night, fine for us, but older lighter sleepers may find hard to sleep.
Review 86:This relates to the Aurora apartments, which are 700m from the main hotel. Liked: wonderfully spacious with good kitchen area, very central in Amalfi, clean and comfortable.
Review 87:No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Key for the safe, which you then have to carry with you. Shower very small
Review 88:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location
Review 89:Charging for wifi I think is a bit cheeky,€5 for 1 hr & €10 for 24hrs. We paid for the €10 and was given unlimited access which was nice. At this stage of our travels in Italy we came to accept that everything has a price and nothing is for free.
Review 90:The staff were so friendly and were very helpful in gathering information for us. We would definitely come back as the hotel is ideally located (short walk to the square).
Review 91:Not a great location, breakfast not included when you book throughbookings.com, limited parking, beach is poor, and noisy! Bedsunformatable
Review 92:Staff
Review 93:Beds were uncomfortable and shower was ridiculously small!
Review 94:Location is perfect, staff is friendly. Also the terrasse in the bedroom overlooking the sea was fantastic. Breakfast was great as well.
Review 95:Nothing! It was all perfect
Review 96:The staff were wonderful and so helpful, the hotel was amazing and the location fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, Amalfi is a truly wonderful place. We will be back soon.
Review 97:The shower head didn't have enough pressure. Breakfast would be good to have some cooked eggs.
Review 98:Staff were extremely helpful. This is a professional hotel that has the enjoyment of their guests at the forefront of their minds.
Review 99:We traveled in a group of 5 men, celebrating 200 years of combined life experiences ;-). We booked 3 nights but ended extending our stay further. The flat was well equipped and perfectly situated. Hotel staff were pleasant, helpful and welcoming.
Review 100:The beach outside the hotel cost 3euros to use, and it was greyish, not yellow for sand-castles! But we did not want to sit on a beach anyway.
Review 101:Location at the end of the harbour with level walking access to buses, boats, restaurants & the town of Amalfi. Hotel has a lift. Breakfast on a flower-filled terrace overlooking the sea. The staff speak good English and are really helpful and friendly. We stayed three nights and had a lovely holiday there. Excellent.
Review 102:The hotel was clean and the owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delightful on the terrace, a wonderful experience on the Amalfi coast.
Review 103:- very hard beds, but that seems to be the standard in this area
Review 104:- excellent service - superior room on the top floor with huge terrace and nice view over the yacht habour - nice breakfast - good location in quiet corner, only 5' walk from the main bustle - parking in front
Review 105:There was no view from the apartment and during the week, the attachedgym was a bit noisy at earlier and later hours.
Review 106:We rented the apartment and it was close to the town square. Thelocation was fabulous for walking into town and enjoying the locals, shopping and food. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Andrea, thehost, was incredibly helpful and even met us at the bus stop!
Review 107:We were a group of 5 people, and the apartment only had one bathroom / toilet, so there was a bit of a crush. The sofa bed was pretty bad, if there was one thing I'd suggest changing - that would be to replace the sofa bed - anything from Ikea would have been better.
Review 108:I stayed at the Aurora Apartment residences, which is located in a newer building that's virtually in the heart of town - a short 100m under-covered walkway (one of many in the village) through the village's old whitewashed buildings leads you to the village square. With 20 or so steps, the apartment is easy to get into with luggage. The apartment itself is furnished quite basically, the rooms are pleasant and comfortable. Without a doubt, the main reason why we enjoyed our stay so much at the apartment is the hotel manager Andrea Colonnese. Very simply, he truly looked after us!! He was extremely helpful, right from the moment when I contacted him to enquire about availability all through the end. He offered to organise transport to get us from Salerno to Amalfi, he met us at the apartment, settled us in and was fabulously patient with our million questions! He suggested places to visit, and how to get around. He remembered our plans, and even rang the coastguard in Sorrento to check for ferry services to Capri (without our asking). All this surely is truly beyond the call of duty. He made our stay truly memorable, and I can only hope he is a true representation of Amalfian hospitality!
Review 109:Fabulous location. Gorgeous stroll along the seafront to charming town centre and dinner. Perfect balmy evening. Clean, comfortable and helpful, friendly staff
Review 110:Location, 5 minute flat walk from the centre of Amalfi so close to the action but quiet in the evening. The staff, particulary Andrew, were excellent. The hotel also arranged a free guided tour of the town which was very interesting & informative. Access to a private beach and provided beach towels.
Review 111:The pictures had indicated a frontage right on the sea - this is misleading. Also the concierge had recommended restaurants right upon check in and offered 10% discount on them. We went by one of them and for both nights, the place was empty or had only one patron. In contrast, the restaurants on either side were full. This suggests they recommended the restaurants for the commission rather than quality. The rooms were small, old and dingy. I am really surprised this hotel was ranked so highly on trip advisor!
Review 112:Good location close to the marina
Review 113:Small hotel is on the beach, in 3 minute walk from its own beach. The beach is located in a secluded area close to a beautiful grotto. Has its own parking. Very friendly staff. Quite decent breakfast. We had a room on the top floor with a large veranda t stunning views of the bay, beach and city.
Review 114:Breakfast choice was very limited.. Extra towels is not an option.. You have to wait till the next day to get your towels replaced.. Entrance to the hotel looks very cheap, and you need to reserve for parking or else it will be a long wait until they get your car back from the valet service..
Review 115:Staff was very friendly.. Rooms were very clean.. Nice sea-view.. Just right for a 3-star hotel..
Review 116:Very nice hotel with excellent location in Amalfi. Super nice small private beach adjacent to the hotel. Near restaurants, hiking routes, watersports and else. Very sweet staff and beautiful terass overlooking the bay. Good value for money. Warm atmosphere and friendly. Sometimes a bit noicy in the room or maybe not very soundproof walls. However it was quiet in general so not a problem really. Nice & sweet hotel!
Review 117:Temperature of the Hot Water in the shower tends to vary and could be dangerous for children. A notice to this effect would be sufficient.
Review 118:Located right at the end of the harbour with a beach in front and no traffic. A few minutes easy walk to the splendours of Amalfi. Rooms with a sea view have a perfect setting with the beach just below, sleep to the sound of the waves on the shore. Breakfast is reasonable with a variety of cold items. Drinks available all day, but no Restaurant. This is not a problem with some close by and the best in Amalfi a 10 minute walk away. Staff are friendly and helpful. Standard Rooms are good, though could feel cramped for a long stay. Those with a balcony are probably better but our room without was good enough.
Review 119:From the moment we arrived at the hitel we were made to feel welcome. The staff are very attentive, always ready to asist you with travel ideas and recomendtions for restaurants tours et. I would certainly recommend this hotel to any friend or family. Thank you Hotel Aurora for a terrific hilidsy!!
Review 120:This hotel is even better than 3 Stars ! We spend 6 nights in apartmentNo1 in Amalfi city (700m away from the hotel). Staff was extraordinarynice and very polite. They escort us from the hotel (check in) to theappartment ! There is nothing else to say, they are perfect. Theappartment was very clean, fully equiped and like new. Even theappartment was offered as selfservice there is everything for breakfirstplaced free of use. WiFi (fast) for free, laundry (washingmachine anddryer), central but quiet place, Sat tv, air conditioning (2x). At thebeach in front of the hotel there are reserved sunlounger for specialdicount. The City of Amalfi is beautifull and the nicest place of wholeof Amalfi coast (we traveled along the coast). Aurora is the best placeto stay in Amalfi !I can not agree with the complains of other visitors who were disturbed by the Gym inside the building. To the owner who me met personnaly: Thank You
Review 121:The breakfast however was not very interesting and if you come down latethere will be little or nothing left. However we were happy to order andget a continental breakfast delivered to the room a few times, which wasa very nice treat and was included in the price.
Review 122:The personnel at this hotel were extremely helpful and very friendly. The room - an upgrade - was large and had a super huge balcony with anamazing view. The hotel was very clean with daily change of towels &linen if you so wish. The location was also ideal and an easy walk tothe center of Amalfi. A big thank you especially to Andrew & Walter fortheir super hospitality!
The Fine Print
Please note, use of the private beach is at an extra cost. All apartments are located 2,300 feet from the main building.
