Reviews for Hotel Wellamarin
Review 1:Too crowded during breakfast and dinner times.
Review 2:Had the room with direct lake view, room was superb, big, very comfy, very clean (superior with balcony, I think). Unfortunately heavy fog during our whole stay- meaning we couldn't really enjoy the view. :(
Review 3:No bad experience really, wifi could be quicker, but who cares when on holiday :-)
Review 4:Excellent bed, superclean room, beautiful view, relaxing atmosphere, perfect location
Review 5:Service/staff at the restaurant (does not match 4+ rating), 1 elevator for many floors/rooms; poor wi-fi connection in the rooms
Review 6:Spacious room/bathroom; proximity to the lake Balaton, indoor/outdoor pool
Review 7:Pillow is not very comfortable. Wifi needs to be reconnected every time you lock and unlock your iDevice. Early checkout at 10AM.
Review 8:Food, swimming pool, lake view, parking, location.
Review 9:Only thing i can think of was no wifi in the rooms. Then it would just be that bit more perfect.
Review 10:We stayed in the Wellamarin for 2 nights as a small break and I must say myself and my wife thought the hotel was of excellent quality and am looking forward to returning very soon. The facilities in the hotel from bowling to squash to full spa treatments where exceptional with plenty to do all the time. We stayed on a half board basis and am glad as the food was of good quality and was a relaxed help yourself service. The quality of the room was also excellent and was reminicent to a five star hotel we stayed in Florida last year with a sizable balcony as well.
Review 11:It was very difficult to communicate with the staff in English. The only good English speaking person was the young lady at the reception desk who was always very helpful. There is only one lift in the hotel and there was always a queue of people waiting. The quality of the food was not good at all and the restaurant was always very full and very noisy. Both the inside an outside pools are far too small for this size of hotel and, especially when the weather is not good, the inside pool is extra full of people. The staff in general are a bit cold and just go about their business without much interaction with guests. The required 10:00 am check-out is far too early and you end up wasting the last day of your holiday because you have to wake up very early, pack, rush off to breakfast and then checkout. There are many other hotels you can go to at this price with much better facilties, food and location.
Review 12:Room was clean and comfortable. Location is reasonably good, if you like swimming in the lake.
Review 13:Most irritating was when you are eating & you orderd drink....then waiter need your sign first......then you can eat further....means when a person order something they can wait for his signature...let him enjoy his meal....rest was okay
Review 14:This is the warmest hotel I've ever been in! There was no way to turn down the heat in rooms and it was stuck at 28c
Review 15:Most of the personal didn't speak english, except the front desk, it was hard to talk to them.
Review 16:Very nice room, clean and big, quiet location.
Review 17:EXCELLENT HOTEL 9/10
Review 18:Diner food was not warm, swimming pool outside was very cold, no wifi in bedroom
Review 19:Nice room, nice bathroom
Review 20:bed was very hard
Review 21:Peaceful location in front of the lake
Review 22:Lovely room, great sauna sessions and food was delicious
Review 23:Dark and so eighties restaurant , no wifi in the room.
Review 24:swimming pool and wellness center, location.
Review 25:Unorganized, unexperienced staff at the reception. Average food. Overpriced during high-season.
Review 26:The pool outside should be with cold water, then everything is perfect.
Review 27:The rooms are very nice, and the location is perfect with romantic view.
Review 28:As great as the outside pool area is, we couldn't help wondering how it would cope with a lot of guests in the busy season. There's not a huge amount of space for more than about 20 people to lounge around, so that was the only little thing that I could pick on. If they built a covered area for the open car park and joined it to the pool area (it could be done) then put chairs and tables on its roof (adjacent to the pool) that would be perfect! The photos on their website (and the ones you see here) are a bit misleading, as the pool is nowhere near as big as it looks in the photos. It's a great pool though, just not as enormous as you would think ;-)
Review 29:The staff were super-friendly and very helpful. The buffet-style breakfast and dinner set-up is very substantial. I was really happy with that! The room (103 - first floor "superior") was great and the little HD TV was perfect for the World Cup Football in the evening! The bathroom, balcony, bed, etc were clean and well maintained/comfortable. The housekeepers were friendly and even waited a bit when we had to come back to the room to get some stuff reorganized. We were really happy with our stay (3 nights).
Review 30:Air Conditioning. We had a problem in that it had been very hot the day we arrived - and my first thing is always to put on the AC to cool the room down - however all we could get was recirculated warm air. Four trips to reception later and they were still trying to figure out how to make it work in our room. The system is a very complicated electronic centrally controlled system, which they operate from their computer - however nothing they could do would make it stay on for any lenght of time. Judit was determined to help us and in the end gave us the instruction book so we were able to take over control of our own room - but it would have been so much nicer to have walked through the door and turn it on. I assume this system saves thousands by stopping rooms being left on unattended, however it also meant I had a sleepless night and is the only reason we probably will not return -which is a great shame as otherwise it would be a good stop over for us next time we are en-route to Budapest.
Review 31:Stayed here for two nights en-route to a conference in Budapest as had often thought about visiting Lake Balaton. The hotel is unusual by UK / US standards, being aimed at Hungarian and German Spa clients - and the only option was to stay half board, which isnt something we would usually choose to do, however the standard of the evening buffet was much better than we expected. Breakfast disappointing - as apart from house baked bread, everything else was pretty low grade bought in food. Lovely indoor pool which we had to ourselves and another small outdoor pool, which was closed when we were there. Right on the beach though which we were informed has warm shallow waters - but we were a little too early for it to be warm enough. Interesting area - mostly holiday homes - some fabulous, some not, but because this is the longest 'free' beach on the south side of the island its the most popular area. Didnt see the actual town which is a 40 minute walk to the south and the weather on our only full day there turned stormy. Staff all wonderful and very helpful, from Vivien who made sure we had 3 parking spaces reserved together for our long van, to Judit who was so helpful when trying to get the air con to work in our room, and Thomas in the restaurant - everyone we had contact with was just lovely. In comparison to other hotels it was expensive, but compared to Budapest itself it isnt, and out of season it was very plesant with lovely views of the lake and sunsets from our balcony (all rooms have balcony but not all have lake view -which is charged extra for)
Review 32:Only one elevator, people often wait in a queue. Restaurant can be crowded (we had halfboard included in room price). Room price is a bit too high.
Review 33:Lovely place and location.
Review 34:You have to book half board. The quality of the buffet dinner is comparable with a level an average small town pub and not a 4 star hotel. If the hotel is full, you have to wait long for a waiter to order the drinks. They are too busy to clean the desks between the dishes. The wellness area is too small and all the time overfull. No chance for relaxing.
Review 35:The personal is very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Just a few steps to the beach. Good and rich breakfast buffet.
Review 36:The only downside was that there was very little/no entertainment/programmes arranged on an evening. The hotel is situated on its own and is not in walking distance of any other venues which can make evenings difficult to fill if you don't want to drive to the next big town (Siofok).
Review 37:The setting of this hotel is beautiful, right on the lakeside. The rooms are very spacious, comfortble and extremely clean/modern. The food was excellent and the spa facilities were just what we needed for a relaxing weekend away.
Review 38:The wellness area is a bit small when the hotel is full with a limited number of relaxing chairs. The breakfast was 7-10 on Sunday and Holiday too that could have been longer. The massage area can be reached through the pool area that was a bit uncomfortable on the way and back. Not all information is available in English language.
Review 39:The location is very good. Zamardi is a quiter place at Balaton but has a great access to the other side of the lake by using the ferry. The hotel offers bicycles. There is an adventure park also close that is a good activity for children and parents.
Review 40:The live music at the dinner was much too noisy and lively. Also, theselection of food and its quality should be better for a hotel in thisprice range.
Review 41:Nice, clean rooms with a side lake view, even though we didn'texplicity order a lake view. Squash facility was excellent, as was thepool area. The hotel itself is new, on a quiet location and welldesigned. We'd probably stay here again when on Lake Balaton.
Review 42:Only the indoor pool was open and it is a bit small. The dinners were decent but not what I hoped for.
Review 43:Room was fantastic.
Review 44:poor entertainment
Review 45:clean, good food, staff very friendly
Review 46:Indoor pool is too small during full booked period!
Review 47:Its very nice place to relax. Serve very good Food!! Good suana programs!!
Review 48:Nice clean rooms, wellness, good food, friendly staff. To have a nice, quiet weekend for two, that's good location at winter.
Review 49:Staff, location, cleanliness, view
Review 50:elevator is small and very slow
Review 51:Staff, location, half-board meals, pools, beach restaurant, selection of wines by the glass
Review 52:Nice and large room with nice bathroom. Nice spa area. good restaurants around. Quite beach at the lake.
Review 53:I cannot find anything bad to say about it
Review 54:I liked everything about it, the location, the décor, the food, staff. All round totally excellent
