Reviews for Hotel Luna Convento

Review 1:not enough electrical plugs, not enough amenities for the price that we paid..breakfast limited and the same everyday. too many stairs, no direct lift to our bedroom.

Review 2:the sea view from our balcony, comfortable bed, and nice bathroom,

Review 3:Watch out for the corner the hotel is on!! Dangerous for the inexperienced. ... and breakfasts are pretty standard -- but this could be bcs it was off season.

Review 4:This is a one of a kind hotel. It was, long ago, a medieval convent, converted now into a charming, white hotel, overlooking the sea and the heartbreakingly pretty town of Amalfi. Both Wagner and Ibsen worked here (not together!), Bogart, Lollobrigida, Ingrid Bergman and Rossellini -- and Mussolini -- stayed here. No wonder. My room overlooked the town and sea, was huge and venerable in white plaster and a trompe l'oeil painted ceiling frescoe. Bathroom huge and modern. I was all alone in the hotel, like Jack in The Shining. But all the ghosts were friendly. I would return every year if I could.

Review 5:Specific for people with small children: Every floor is tiled, sudden marble staircases around the place, old furniture with sharp corners, no place safe for a child to run.

Review 6:Beautiful location, fantastic, helpful staff.

Review 7:No tea/coffee facilities in rooms. Pool very basic with old deckchairs - no sun loungers.

Review 8:Location and history of the building. Beautiful view - breakfast on the terrace was a great way to start the day.

Review 9:The staff could have been more pro- active with local events and helping guests with plans .

Review 10:Superb location . Wonderful views from the room and the restaurant . The pool was fabulous and Peppi the pool man was excellent .

Review 11:The bed was two singles pushed together instead of a double. Transfer organised by the hotel was terrible. But overall we loved it.

Review 12:Wonderful staff, location, VIEWS!!!, pool, access to sea, food.

Review 13:The bathroom and I do realise that the building is old and that may account for the size of the shower extremely small so don't drop the soap. Lighting very poor in both the bedroom and bathroom. Also our room was directly looked into from the balcony next door which made this a little uncomfortable for both parties.

Review 14:Fantastic location, superb views from bedroom and restaurant. Friendly staff. Good meals.

Review 15:None.

Review 16:Great hotel in a unique location. Friendly and helpful staff. beautiful room with amazing sea view. Valet parking service worked well. Two nice restaurants with direct sea view. Good breakfast considering that you are in Italy.

Review 17:- While there is an elevator for the main entrance, access to the breakfast room or sleeping room are via stairs, as is the access to the pool, which is a bit of challenge for baby prams and handicapped. - to access the pool, one needs to cross the street in a dangerous bending - the swimming pool already closes at 6pm - the pictures for the standard room show a balcony which is misleading as this is not the case; - in general, the pictures on the website should be improved to give a better impression of the wonderful location - when making the booking, the price was indicated at a 80% discount, but after checking it turned out that it was actually the standard price for the room!!

Review 18:- The location is great - The swimming pool with direct access to the sea, and the view both on Atrani and Amalfi stunning; - lovely breakfast area with terrasse onto the sea and Amalfi and good variety of food (even though the "freshly squeezed orange juice was actually not)

Review 19:Crossing the busy road and going down 70 steps to the pool. Great when you get there.......but you're going to have to come back up again!

Review 20:Stylish decor and gorgeous food with a magnificent view from the terrace while you're eating. All staff are very helpful and restaurant service fantastic - which crepe suzette were best?

Review 21:Front desk - extremely poor customer service. Rather than assist or provide solutions or alternatives when help was requested, I got nothing.

Review 22:Staff who worked the breakfast and afternoon aperitif time were great and attentive

Review 23:The price paid too much for such small suite we had applied for 2 rooms Not suitable for 4 adults as the adjoining room and bath facilities were totally inadequate apparently thats all they had available

Review 24:The staff and the location with fantastic views

Review 25:The staff would open up the balcony doors, which interrupted the Air conditioner and caused the room to get hot. The WiFi was slow, and was overwhelmed when too many guests tried to connect.

Review 26:Very clean. Friendly staff. Nice location. Great private beach. Good breakfast included in the price of the room.

Review 27:Our rooms were not four star quality. Shower flooded because of a very shallow pan vs. poor drainage. Wifi spotty and did not work at all for my iPhone 6. Worked fine for iPad and iPhone5. Staff was not overly friendly or helpful

Review 28:Beautiful view

Review 29:Hotel restaurants are below average. Breakfast is decent though. Slow wifi.

Review 30:It's old and not trying to hide it, the staff was good overall. The receptionist lady is stern like a school head mistress but effective. Overall, we would visit again, particularly if we get a better deal.

Review 31:Needs major repairs and renovations. If the owners were to invest in multiple major renovations and restorations, this could be a showplace.

Review 32:Historic ambience, old-school character, beautifully painted ceilings, magnificent setting

Review 33:Minor lapses in facilities in the room(bulb not working, intermittent wi-fi, bath plug leaking, delayed cleaning on Sunday) all corrected asp. Tendency to overcharge

Review 34:Excellent service at all times Valet parking Two good restaurants

Review 35:Room air con not that efficient

Review 36:Position of hotel near to the centre, however far enough away not to be bothered. Great view out to sea and back to Amalfi. Food in restaurant was very good.

Review 37:We loved everything about this hotel.

Review 38:Set just up the hill from the main town, the gentle 5 minute climb is well worth it to this beautiful hotel, which was a former convemt. Rooms are well furnished and comfortable. Staff are friendly and cannot do enough to help. Views over Amalfi are amazing. An excellent hotel. LOVE IT!

Review 39:The room where I stayed didn't have a shower but a small bath instead. However, some other rooms do have showers, so checking the room and your personal preferences (bath or shower) when booking is recommended.

Review 40:The hotel is conveniently located, walking distance from Amalfi town centre. The building is from the 13th century and very well preserved. Staff is really friendly and prices are pretty reasonable for the Amalfi Coast. And the sea view from the room was priceless!

Review 41:If I had to pick something then the only thing was the bed was a little hard and 1 pillow wasn't quite enough but 2 was too high.

Review 42:We loved absolutely everything the staff were so friendly and welcoming, they went out of their way to make our stay special.

Review 43:We cannot recommend this hotel enough! Such an amazing location, history, staff are great and the food is fab! We will definitely be heading back! Very special hotel!

Review 44:We didn't like to leave this place, but would have stayed longer, but job and school didn't permit.

Review 45:Best location in town, beautiful property, excellent breakfast

Review 46:Small bedroom and bathroom. Able to hear next door's occupants through thin bathroom walls. Breakfast was chaotic, one small coffee machine and had to wait 15 minutes for some eggs.

Review 47:Lovely ocean views from the hotel and an amazingly located pool and restaurant. The courtyard and lounge is full of history.

Review 48:Not much liked everything.

Review 49:I liked everthing fronm the view to the facilities the pool the breakfast area and selection the service the closeness to everything the weather and the friendly staff. Just a good experience.

Review 50:Very small plain room and cramped shower stall for the cost of the basic room.

Review 51:The pool is located amongst the cliffs above which the hotel is perched upon. Absolutely fabulous spot. The breakfast balcony view is stunning.

Review 52:The floor in our room was filthy. There was a loud noise from the pipes in the middle of the night every night. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful and weren't very welcoming.

Review 53:The hotel is in a good location only a few hundred metres from the centre with nice sea views. The hotel look is unique and looks grand with a lovely secluded pool, although there are a lot of steps to it. The breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit and fresh bread every morning.

Review 54:Our stay at the hotel was perfect. The hotels proximity to the town, to the sea and outdoor pool is second to none. Stunning location, stunning views. This was our second visit to Luna, the hotel is just so special. A real treat.

Review 55:Nothing to dislike in Amalfi town!

Review 56:And what a sea view! We spent all afternoon till late evening on our balcony watching life going by on the sea in front of us. Boats of all shapes & sizes passing by as we soaked up the rays. Bliss! Parking an issue? No problem, the porter whisked our car away & he reappeared with it like majic the next day>

Review 57:Very basic room for the price paid and small. Not a particularly warm welcome by staff and bit of a stiff atmosphere in general which is a shame as I was particularly looking forward to staying here given the history of the hotel. Could be fantastic with a bit of TLC and a few more smiles around the place!

Review 58:Good location and views from the rooms. Swimming pool is nice.

Review 59:Bed a bit hard but in line with european standards

Review 60:Clean, large and very well placed. Swimming pool excellent. Their restaurant in tower is highly recommended for spectacular lunch. Magnificent views. Huge breakfast buffet choice

Review 61:Bathroom sink/ ledge dirty, had to clean it myself on arrival; shower tile grout falling out/many cracked tiles

Review 62:Views spectacular; interior common areas very upscale and comfortable

Review 63:This was our most expensive hotel stay during our honeymoon. It's hard to say whether it's worth the money because we didn't see inside any of the other hotels in the Amalfi area. But other than cost, we didn't have anything we didn't like about this hotel.

Review 64:The hotel is just a short walk from town. Plenty of options for pizza, gilato, limoncello, coffee, etc. The hotel restaurants were nice for dinner and breakfast. We never were around to try lunch. The pool is very nice and quiet. It felt like walking up or down about four flights of stairs.

Review 65:Please try a dessert ( at the end of the list) , peach flambé. Served at the table with the marvelous operation. Wonderful dish with a fabulous night view !

Review 66:This place is stunning! The cloisters, the terraces, the two restaurants, the pool in the cliff and the dive off reef are certainly 4 star. Dinner on the terrace was perfect. Roberto the waiter was super professional and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble. Luna convento has rustic charm. Not contemporary but very fitting.

Review 67:Old, worn-down, slightly dirty, small rooms, uncomfortable/old sheets, pool chairs/towels old and worn, not a nice pool.

Review 68:Views, private balcony, location (if you don't mind walking 5-10 minutes down the road into town)

Review 69:The decor in the rooms was a little tired, but everything was clean and comfortable.

Review 70:A lovely hotel, with lots of character in the communal areas, very helpful staff and views to die for. In a perfect location, five minutes walk from the centre of Amalfi.

Review 71:Our room no.1 (adjacent to 2 and 3 which all overlook Atrani on the other side to the hotel which overlooks Amalfi) was quite basic and small and our room was just above the road which tainted the experience of enjoying he balcony as it's the main coast road into Amalfi and a very busy corner.

Review 72:The location of this hotel is incredible, perched just on the edge of town right on the sea front it offers incredible views of Amalfi and Minori/Maori if you're room is situated on the Atrani side of the hotel. You're no more than a 3 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of Amalfi town but far away enough to enjoy the peace and quiet of a glass of wine on the balcony. The building itself has the rich beauty of a 600 year old monastery and te hotel boasts arguably the best pool in Amalfi which is nestled below the cliffs on a sea platform with stunning views across the gulf of Salerno, Atrani a short swim to the left and Amalfi just round the corner to the right. Our room was quite basic and small you pay for the location and the pool which was well worth it!

Review 73:Slightly dated. They should refurbish the room and it would have been perfect. Room 6 has its shower slightly choked so we were showering in a puddle of water. The pillow sheet was stained. But the hotel staff had it changed within minutes of our complain.

Review 74:Location. View. Valet parking. Big room. Ocean view was beautiful. All their staff provided outstanding service.

Review 75:Everything!!Worst was the grumpy old night manager. Yes all the rooms are looking to the sea if you manage to see them through their small windows. My worst experience for sure compared to the price paid!!!

Review 76:The best thing about this hotel was LEAVING IT!!

Review 77:The swimming pool, although in a fantastic position once you are there, is on the opposite side of a pretty busy road at the foot of the cliff (80 steps!) and rather discouraged an early morning dip. As we had to leave at 7.00am for our flight there was no provision for breakfast at that time and were disappointed by the disinterested attitude of the dining room staff on duty. This was rather sad as it has left a negative memory of what was otherwise an enjoyable stay.

Review 78:The position of the hotel overlooking the bay was amazing. The room was spotlessly clean. Our bed linen and towels were changed every day with crisp white cotton sheets and pillow cases. There is an historic, calm feel to the hotel and drinks in the cloister courtyard at the end of the day are a must. Breakfast was good and the restaurant served a fine meal in the evening from a varied menu. The staff were generally helpful and one or two gave excellent service.

Review 79:Expensive. Room was small although acceptable.

Review 80:Beautiful location; all rooms have sea view. Dinner was wonderful, and breakfast delightful. Valet car parking.

Review 81:nothing

Review 82:We had a lovely room with an amazing view over the Amalfi marina.Breakfast was always a great pleasure.Staff always very helpful and friendly.Even when the weather was not great Pepe at the pool always brought a smile to our face. Great transport links to nearby towns.

Review 83:Hotel is very dated. Bathroom was dreadful, very shabby and the shower head was fixed lower than five foot high. Air con was faulty in the room. Communal areas were untidy with lots of clutter left around. Could not get to see the old chapel in the hotel as it was closed! Check in/out we're a bit chaotic. No offer of a taxi despite having 2 cases with us. Not asked if we enjoyed the stay, just a 'goodbye'. Very expensive for what it was.

Review 84:Great location to explore Amalfi. Amazing old building lots of character. Pepe the pool attendant is a real character.

Review 85:chairs by the pool were uncomfortable No water supplied in the room bedrooms dated

Review 86:Balcony View from room Friendly efficient staff location breakfast linens Housekeeping

Review 87:We had a hard time deciding what to write here...no gym and weak wifi. BUT...if you want to exercise, swim or hike to Ravello or take some of the other hikes in the area...just gorgeous. And on our vacation...we really didn't need to be glued to our computers!

Review 88:The location is superb and the hotel oozes charm. We've also stayed in some lovely hotels in Positano and Sorrento, but we prefer Amalfi. The hotel is a short walk to the center of Amalfi in one direction and to Atrani in the opposite direction. A good mix between tourist kitsch and local life. You can catch a boat, taxi or bus to other points along the coast from the dock area just a few minutes walk from the hotel. We especially enjoyed the pool area which is on the sea. You can jump off the rocks into the sea water or swim in the salt water pool. Pepe, who manages the pool area, is awesome! The restaurant has gorgeous views and the wait staff is lovely. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. We had dinner at the hotel one night. The service was excellent and the food was not great...but good. We will definitely return.

Review 89:Hard beds

Review 101:The hotel runs like a very well oiled machine. The staff are fruendly and professional. The place is beautiful and the views surpass even this.
