Review 11：We stayed in the Belmondo Mare which is an annexed property right on the harbour. A regular shuttle bus took us to and from the main hotel on the hill to use the pool and facilities, but we found the harbour property to be much more convenient and casual.

Review 14：The only things that bothered me were: 1. the tardiness of management in responding to my concern about the location of a pushchair belonging to guests in an adjoining room; I felt that it posed a hazard were a fire to break out and a speedy exit required but the problem was not resolved until after the 4th complaint 2. the (marble?) step outside our room and floor of the same material were a little troubling for the same reason

Review 17：You just can't beat the incredible location, with stunning lake views, airy rooms, a gorgeous lakeside pool and beach, and the sense of being close to everything but also in your own secluded world when you want to be.

Review 18：The staff at the Splendido were a totally different kettle of fish! rude and unhelpful. We were really surprised at the attitude of both the staff around the pool and those in the restaurant. We ate lunch at the beautiful restaurant overlooking the bay and had the most ridiculous meal, a tuna nicoise salad with an inch square piece of tined tuna, a quails egg a couple of capers and a few lettuce leaves and at a price of 34 euros. We had to ask three different waiters for the wine list etc etc. The restaurant was not at all busy so this could not be used as an excuse. We had booked for dinner but cancelled our reservation as the little restaurants around the harbour just knock this pretentious restaurant into a cocked hat with lovely fresh ingredients, sensible portions at a third of the cost. I do not mind paying a premium but not for rubbish.

Review 19：The staff at the Splendido Mare were fantastic, so friendly, helpful and accomodating. This is a little hotel right in the square but with the use of the pool and facilities at the Splendido. The breakfast at the Splendido Mare is to die for, you can have almost everything, cooked freshly and to perfection. I would not hesitate staying here again.

Review 20：Be aware, be very very aware, of the difference between the Splendidoand the Splendido Mare, the absurd 3x market value cost of food andbeverage on the property, and the fact that you will be a social outcastin the unavoidably close company of billionaires. Review 25：We stayed at the Belmond Hotel Splendido (not Splendido Maire ). The first on has a better location on the top of the hill, absolutely amazing views. The second one is down at the waterfront, a little bit more noisy. I loved the room we were so lucky to be upgraded to. It was room # 101. It had the most spacious balcony I have ever seen in a hotel. The breakfast buffet had so many selections, They even got me my favorite bowl of blueberries every morning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Spa was very relaxing with so many treatments to choose from, just make sure you book before arrival.

Review 26：Both of us have knee problems--my husband's is currently quite severe ; I was able to negotiate sightseeing; my husband counted on a day at the pool and in the gym; neither the gym nor the pool were accessible to anyone with any sort of mobility issue.

Review 28：Be careful where to stay , you have to distinguish between Belmont hotel splendido and belmond splendido mare , the first one is exceptional in terms of its room comfort and view of portofino bay but Belmontd mare was very poor in terms of its comfort , the wardrobes are located in the bathroom and the furniture is very old , the rooms were very noisy and you can always find cleaning tols left at the corridor of the hotel , Belmond mare is not a five star hotel in my opinion , I have seen three stars hotel which are better than this , the staff were very friendly and the manager was very helpful and friendly to recommend places to dine but we really did not enjoy the room , we enjoyed the facility of the Belmond hotel splendido with its beautiful pool and restaurant overlooking portofino bay and had a look at the rooms which were far better than Belmond mare , if you want to stay at Belmond then go for Belmond hotel splendido , this is a true feel of a five star hotel and avoid Belmond splendido mare

Review 32：From the moment driving into the property through to check in and guided around for the property this was an amazing visit for three days. The service was superb and entertainment after a great meal on the Terrace restaurant was great. Shame to have to leave.

Review 33：We stayed at room 484 and it was absolutely superb! The room was beautifully decorated with huge bed and a breathtaking view over the sea and Portofino's marina. We enjoyed couple of days breakfast at the balcony admiring the panorama. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly! They organised a lovely babysitter for us, Laura, who took care of our six month old couple of nights. The location of the hotel is absolute heaven, overlooking the sea and Portofino's marina, tucked in gardens with palm trees and flowers with absolutely amazing scent. We enjoyed very much having drinks at the bar watching the sunset, as well as taking a dip in the heated infinity pool! It takes around 10 min to walk to Portofino's piazza, but the hotel also runs a shuttle. Food was overall very delicious, except for their Niçoise salad, which was very dissapointing! The chef should really learn how to make a proper Niçoise. It is below average! The tuna is canned (which he also forgot to add it in the salad) and the salad is lacking half of the ingredients. Real shame for such a high quality restaurant! However, that set aside, we had a great stay and can't wait to go back!

Review 43：We chose the Splendido to end our honeymoon tour of northern Italy. Despite paying over 1000 euros per night the rooms were tired and dated. Our room had no balcony and a view of the carpark. Its decor felt as though we were entering the 1980s. In our bathroom the towels were stained and bathrobes very worn. There were no duvets on beds, instead dark brown fleece throws coupled with the 1980s stencilling on the walls made it look very dated. We did not eat at the main hotel restaurant as we simply could not afford it! However we had lunch at the poolside restaurant where two pizzas and two glasses of their cheapest wine cost almost 150 euros. Breakfast was a disaster, we waited for over half an hour to be served coffee and waited another half for breakfast, the breakfast buffet was not not replenished and therefore poorly stocked. Sunloungers were incredibly crowded my wife was told off for taking a photo of the view as mobile phones were not allowed at the poolside however some Russian guests were allowed to spend the afternoon talking very loudly on their phones. This is a hotel which is living off its reputation from the 1950s-1980's. It does not meet the standard of a modern 5 star hotel and despite this it is the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in!! A sour taste at the end of a wonderful honeymoon

The location is sublime, looking out on the Piazzetta and the pretty harbour. The staff were delightful and nothing was too much trouble for them. There are only 16 rooms in Splendido Mare and so it feels very personal, including all of the staff remembering to wish my wife a happy birthday while we were there.

Review 88：1) Was not completly happy with sea view, as we was placed at the tennis court end (room 237) very little view of the sea. This room should not of been in the sea view price bracket.

Review 90：It was not clear from the website which hotel we have booked, the Mareor just the splendido. First we have arrived to Splendido Mare and theyhave sent us down to Portofino to Splendidoamare. The building is not a5 star hotel, it is barely a 4. The hotel claims that we can use all thefacilities of both hotels, however you can not have breakfast atsplendido mare (or 50£ each). The reception lady is very nice, howeverknows nothing about what is going on in the city. The restaurant inSplendido mare tried cheating us on the dinner bill, which wasredicolous, considering how much money we have paid for the hotel.
