Reviews for Lorelei Bed & Breakfast
Review 1:The spa bath tab needs handles or rails because it's very easy to slip. The sofas in the living need new covers here & there.
Review 2:Location is very convenient for shopping or meals. Free cold or hot drink includes wine & beer plus snacks. Roger's services, advice and information about the local areas.
Review 3:Small bathroom but still more than adequate.
Review 4:Beautiful big old fashioned bedroom with high ceilings, canopy bed and quality wood features. Very warm and inviting!!
Review 5:Had a great stay at Lorelei, very welcoming and comfortable with lots of special little touches like cheese and wine on offer in the dining room. Would definitely return and highly recommend

Review 7:This B&B was lovely. The owner, Rodger, was warm and welcoming. The room was delightful. Beautiful soft furnishings, comfortable, great spa. Breakfast was lovely, and in the evening, complimentary wine & cheese were available in the sitting room. WiFi worked well. Only 2 blocks to main street.
Review 8:Spacious room with everything provided. The free wine, beer etc was an unexpected bonus. Friendly & informative host. We both loved our brief stay at Lorelei B & B
Review 9:We loved everything about the place. It's so beautiful inside and out, so much character. I really loved the big old tree in the yard. The owner is so passionate about his business and loves what he does. The rooms are lovely, it's cosy and we will definitely stay there anytime we travel to Portland!!!

Review 11:Beautiful and spacious house with +100 yrs history, yet it is very well maintained by the friendly host Roger. The room was lovely and very comfortable as well.
Review 12:We loved the old features, furniture and decor of the house. Very quiet and peaceful and the host Roger couldn't have been more accommodating. Great beer/wine and cheese in the afternoon and a short stroll to shops and restaurants. Highly recommend this place if you're passing through or visiting Portland. We loved it.
Review 13:Very friendly and helpful host, lots and lots of extra things for free on the premises - even free beers and wine (even though we didn't use it, it was good to know it's there for free!)
Review 14:Roger is the perfect host. We felt welcome and relaxed from the moment we arrived, the house is lovely and in a very convenient location. The complementary wine and cheese are a nice inclusion, and a game of cards with Rogers delightful children made for a great stay.
Review 15:Spa bath was smaller than expected and not sure on the cleanliness of the spa but everything else in the room looked clean and well maintained. Room a little dark even with the lights on.
Review 16:Liked the location. A little tucked out of the way and private but not too far from main facilities/beach. Staff friendly and accommodating. Room nice and quiet, good acoustics. Old bed surprisingly comfortable.
Review 17:All was good but breakfast was lacking variety, especially if you get there after others have eaten. We ended up going somewhere else to have more breakfast and better coffee. The value was reduced considerably by this.
Review 18:There was nothing to dislike
Review 19:Reception, the room, availability of drinks, etc, advice on where to eat, great breakfast with all you could wish for available and as important - a good host!

The port, wine, chocolates and cheeses set out in the guest lounge were divine. Rooms were nice and warm and electric blankets for the winter nights were cold when we were there! The included breakfast and beverage selection was wonderful and the owner is truly a lovely and personable man.

Review 28:Modern Hotels and Motels are rather similar. But this really charming Victorian house is something very special. The rooms are big and equipped with period furniture. We were welcomed very warmly and felt at home immediately. There was free use of drinks and snacks in the big lounge. The continental breakfast was superb. Altogether this accomodation offers excellent value for money.

Review 69:Not the fault of the host or managers, but our 2 nite stay was interrupted by an infant's cry- 3 x first night and 4x second nite. Unable to get a good night sleep. Had to take afternoon naps.
Review 70:Host was very welcoming, hospitable and has fair knowledge of the surrounding areas on recommendations for restaurants, etc. Decor and access to common lounge with tea/coffee and beverages makes you feel almost at home. Superb location. Highly recommended for a getaway, but best check with host if there are children or infants during your stay.

Review 76:Having to leave. :(
Review 77:Everything about this place is absolutely beautiful! I strongly recommend to stay here! Well worth it's money and simply elegant. Just beautiful!
Review 78:I think we got the oldest room in the house, it was cold, dark, the bathroom was small, and only got 1 set of towels although we were 2 guests (got a 2nd set when requested), the room just felt dusty and needs an upgrade
Review 79:Welcome cheese, crackers and wine, nice living room area with magazines, newspapers, wi-fi throughout the house, all drinks on the house (water, beer, tea, coffee, etc.), nice owner
Review 80:Could just do to tidy up outside which would be only a simple job.
Review 81:Great interior with real old world style. Bedrooms were excellent with loads of space and we had the four poster bed. Owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Free wines available and also port and sherry. Cheese provided FOC. Breakfast was excellent. He could just do to upgrade the outside a bit. Just needs a little tidying up which would only take a short while. In general a really good place to stay.
Review 82:Untidy dirty veranda at the entry and broken fly screen front door that kills the first impression of the place feels like entering into a cheap back packers/hostel.
Review 83:Excellent in room cleaness very clean linen and towels.
Review 84:Nothing I can think of.
Review 85:The warm welcome by Roger and Madeline. Generous beer, wine, nuts, cheese and crackers. No intrusions and treated us as mature adults. Variety in Continental Breakfast. As we had to leave early, Roger made sure he had breakfast ready for us. Ann & Jerry
Review 86:Very friendly, quirky B&B with period features retaining old style characteristics. If you want somewhere a little bit different this is the place to stay. We loved it.
Review 87:There was nothing to dislike!!
Review 88:The host, Roger, was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere of the Lorelei was just amazing, the homestead has been kept in the era of the building but with lovely spotlessly clean bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Roger's daughter gave us a quick lesson on some of the native birds in the garden. We would certainly stay with Roger again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in that area.
Review 89:Nothing. I did not want to leave.

Review 95:The fact that we were only able to stay one night!
Review 96:Everything; we cannot praise it enough. This delightful old house withits lovely period furnishings is an absolute gem, as is its owner. Setonly five minutes walk away from the main street and the shoreline park,Lorelie could not be more convenient and yet it is blissfully quiet atnight. Our host keeps a well-stocked fridge and offers carte blanche tothose who want a quick tea or coffee with biscuits and other nibbles. Inthe evening, port and other comforts are left in the well-appointedlounge for those who wish either to chat or collapse quietly on thesofas. The rooms are large, generously furnished and have en suitebathrooms with spa fittings. The breakfast room is large friendly andvery well provided. Wonderful!!

Rob is a fabulous host, so many nice touchesright down to complimentary wines, cheese, drinks, toiletries.Everything is there in a beautiful old home with antique furniture. Review 101:Very amiable owner. Lovely bathroom with good quality fittings, soaps, etc. Large bedroom and very comfortable bed. Large lounge area for guests plus free local wines and beer!
