Reviews for Hotel Capo Casale

Review 1:Arrived in Maratea train station and had to phone for taxi to take us the considerable distance up the mountain. More advance warning would have been helpful. Once there it was perfect- probably our favourite place in our 2 week touring holiday.

Review 2:Fantastic location above the town. Ate lunch and dinner in the hotel's terrace. Both meals were the best we ate in our 2 weeks touring the south of Italy.

Review 3:The view was astonishing, the room was modern and clean. Staff was very friendly. Ideal for a romantic couple of days. The hotel is up in the village (Maratea Paese). It is not a beachfront hotel. However, a bus runs regularly from the beach and train station up to the village. While there w would swim during the day and then come up to the village for dinner and an evening stroll. Hotel is 100% recommendable, but try to get one of the rooms with a view.

Review 4:If you come in a car and it is between June and end of September you will have parking difficulties. Hey, it a town that was established in 1152 and does not run to endless multistory parking garages at the expense of the spirit and beauty of the town. More important, if you have difficulty in walking up and down very steep walkways this town may not be for you. I stayed for 7 nights and loved every minute. I'm 68 years old, reasonably fit but tackling some the narrow streets in the historic part of the town took some doing. The hotel is perfectly located if you enjoy exploring on foot. Taxi's are readily available and reasonably priced but if you find steep hills a problem you may end up using them more that you might wish.

Review 5:With the help of Google Translate, sign language and a few laughs the staff and I communicated. But this was the same throughout Maratea. Drop dead views from the bedroom windows and a great location for walking to see the historic town. The meal I had at the hotel was excellent although the risotto was a bit salty for my taste. Nonetheless all was good. The hotel room was adequate, clean and well kept but a bit spartan. There are some very elegant hotels in town with elegant prices. A return trip to Maratea would find me back at the Capo Casale without doubt.

Review 6:There wasn't much we didn't like about this hotel. It is alittle bit of a walk to the main square but close to some of thehistoric sites, so a good location overall. The outside looks lessinviting than the inside so don't let it put you off! Go inside andenjoy the warm hospitality and cozy rooms. It's very close to astreet but we didn't hear any street noise at night.

Review 7:The staff at this hotel are among the best we've ever experienced. The owner took time to help us book a hotel for the next stop on ourvacation, even calling ahead for us and arranging a ride for part of theway! His niece was our host when we first arrived and she was absolutelydelightful and provided us with maps, detailed information on the bestsites in the city and how to get to them as well as good restaurantrecommendations. The room was basic but very comfortable. They havedouble doors on all the rooms, which makes them very quiet. What a greatidea! Breakfast was much like all the other tourist hotels but all weneeded to start our day. We would highly recommend this comfortablelittle hotel.

Review 8:The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, though some knowledge of Italian was certainly helpful in communicating. The view was breathtaking and room was basic but comfortable and quite large.

Review 9:The steep steps into town weren't a problem for us, but might not be good for everyone.

Review 10:So peaceful! We had the hotel pretty much to ourselves. Over the 4 nights we stayed we only saw 3 other guests at breakfast, so it was a treat to have the wonderful view from the terrace just for us. It was a good way to start the day. Our suite was very large, with great views and a nice terrace. Simple in design it wasn't by any means luxurious, but gave us what we needed. The staff were friendly too.

Review 11:I booked the hotel at the end of October in a town that is usuallycrowded in the summer because I wanted some peace and quiet for theweekend. The city was a ghost town. Unfortunately, the hotel booked agroup of about 30 people in a hotel of about 10 rooms and let them takeover the hotel completely. There was noise and loud singing all night.I went down once to ask for some quiet and called two more times afterI was awakened near midnight for the last time. I was on the top floorand the noise was unbelievable loud. The staff were there the wholetime since the group was in the lobby, and they never got them to gosomewhere else or be quiet. It was louder than any hostel that I haveever stayed when I was in college....in fact, even a hostel has quiettimes. The staff saw me the next morning and never apologized...I Wascharged full price for a stay that was a horrible experience. Stay farway from this place, the staff obviously doesn't care enough abouttheir guests.

Review 12:The location was good, although up a lot of stairs in narrow, unlitalleys, from the main part of the city. The lady at check-in was verynice, unfortunately she was not there for the rest of my stay.

The Fine Print

During summer, some of the streets become pedestrian areas. If you are arriving by you are advised to contact the property in advance for driving directions.
