Reviews for Hosteria Pehoe
Review 1:Far too expensive for what it is. Duvets have no covers, only coffee is Nescafé instant, bar menu rip off (fries are $9), breakfast removed at 0930 on dot despite your progress....
Review 2:Staff were nice, albeit not really trained in anything resembling customer service.
Review 3:We had a hard time reaching them prior to arrival. Try calling or emailing directly.
Review 4:I had very modest expectations based on the reviews, and my stay was very pleasant. It was basic. We had warm showers. Comfortable beds. The room was very warm (great since we camped in the snow the night before arriving). Wifi was okay if you were persistent. The location made it easy to get to the Catamaran, the base of the Torres hike, and Lake Gray; we had our own rental car. It had an Alpine cabin feel. After 3 full days of hiking, we relaxed on couches in the upstairs restaurant/lounge area. We had the space to ourselves. The view was stunning (see pic). The breakfast was a full spread. We took all other meals at Parrilla Pehoe (BBQ) just down the road, which was delicious. The Hosteria Pehoe bartender was very friendly (gave me a huge make shift ice pack for my injured knee), and the bar is open late (it is supposed to close at 11p, but they still served some late patrons). Value-wise, it was cheaper than if two of us had stayed in bunks at a refugio, and probably had better views than any other hotel. I would definitely recommend it.
Review 5:The furniture and decoration could be a little more updated but it's also part of the charm.
Review 6:The location is unbelievable!!!!! The views are breathtaking and the hotel is very charming. The room was very comfortable and the staff friendly.
Review 7:This hotel was quite disappointing. We were prepared to accept basic accomodations in exchange for the setting, but Lake Pehoe is a tired and neglected place, badly in need of some new investment by the owners. Even in the so-called superior rooms, the bathrooms are small, badly designed, old and dirty-looking. The carpets are well-worn and the walls need a fresh coat of paint. The rooms are poorly lit, the front doors to the building with the rooms bang loudy when shut, the WiFi is practically nonexistent. We tried the prix-fixe dinner one evening and that was enough for us--totally low quality for the price--and we went in search for better meals in the other hotels in the area.
Review 8:The "curb appeal" of this hotel is its asset. Situated in an isle on Lake Pehoe with the Cuernos de Paine in the background, our approach to the hotel each time was breathtaking. But other hotels, we found out, had at least as stunning a view of the mountains (e.g., Lago Grey hotel, Las Torres hotel) from their own lobbies or restaurants. The Lake Grey hotel lobby/restraurant, for example, has a beautiful view of the Grey glaciers. Las Torres has a lively bar and restaurant area with a soaring ceiling and modern, interesting furniture. Hosteria Pehoe's social space is quite inferior by comparison to these two hotels.
Review 9:The door didn't lock, and it had a crack in it. They didn't fix either issue when asked. The shower never got warm, which is sad after a long day hiking. The food was poor and grossly overpriced. They charged me twice for dinner--once in cash and again to the room bill.
Review 10:Location.
Review 11:The room is pretty outdated....breakfast is very basic.
Review 12:The view and the location of the hotel is excellent! This is just right in the center of the park, which is very important when there is no gas station in the park!
Review 13:The bar meals and breakfast were fine, but the set dinner is a tour group dinner and not worth while.
Review 14:Fantastic location with amazing view from our room and the bar. Local buses will stop there if requested. Always Glaciers bus to El Calafate also stops there.
Review 15:Only one menu same for lunch and dinner , they work with tours that stop for meals and not for the hotel guests food is not a good quality.hotel is deteriorating rapidly , bathrooms are tiny
Review 16:The view
Review 17:The rooms are very old and in serious need of renovation and they are not really clean (look below the bed). Regarding the level of interior accommodation, the value for money is low.
Review 18:Fantastic location, by far the best in Torres del Paine that I know of. Beautiful exterior, stunningly located restaurant and friendly staff.
Review 19:You need transport to travel anywhere else from the hosteria.
Review 20:Staff were very helpful and friendly, going out of their way to help us with bookings. Location was stunning but you do need transport to get anywhere in the National Park from the hosterria.
Review 21:Impossible to arrange any activities in the Torres del Paine park from the hotel. As an individual, non Spanish speaking tourist, the hotel was most unhelpful in arranging for me to get to the hotel. The only information was "Ring us". Well, not everyone has a phone! And, it transpired, but only as I was leaving that a bus "Stops" right at the door. I walked 5kms. The Hotel website could include this simple information and a link to the bus company and or the timetable!!
Review 22:Location
Review 23:Food and accomodation is costly. We stayed in a adjaoining building with rather limited view to the mountains. Had problems to acess the WiFi with my IPAD
Review 24:Hosteria Pehoe is located inside the Parque Nacional Torres del Paine on a little island. We arrived in the evening via the gravel road close by the lake as the sun was setting .The view was fantastic the mountains, the island & the turquoise lake, the blue sky .
Review 25:The long walk to the hotel from the bus stop could be smoother especially for older individuals. Secondly, there was no shelter while waiting for a bus and that would be a big problem when it rains.
Review 26:The location was great and the facilities were very good.
Review 27:Very hard to connect to wifi, restaurant meal was limited in choice and poor quality.
Review 28:Very kind and helpful staff Fernando at reception. Fantastic view from our room.
Review 29:You can tell that the property has been neglected and that they don't put any more money into it than they have to. Their "dinner" consisted of a buffet with food that they kept running out of and the cost was totally inappropriate. Not much choice considering there aren't a lot of other options. The foot bridge that you have to cross to get to the property would be charming if you didn't keep coming across broken boards and rusty nails.
Review 30:The view is the best thing about this hotel but there are others in the park with equally beautiful views. I would spend the extra money for something a little nicer if I was to stay in the park again.
Review 31:- meals are expensive - rooms are slightly worn down
Review 32:+ definitely a stunning view to and from the island (bridge to the island and view from the other side of the island towards the mountains)
Review 33:The cashier didn't check with us if we have to pay tax or not before telling us to pay. Then she has to reverse the payment and made the thing very complicated.
Review 34:The location is excellent. Best view of Torres del Paines especially Los Cuerros, though it is a little over priced.
Review 35:Food was not great and quite expensive
Review 36:Perfect location, just in the middle of the park. The room was simple but comfortable and clean and with a stunning view (room 36).
Review 37:In Torres Del Paine, hotels will take advantage of tourists and the rates are very high for the quality of the amenities. It has the quality of your average motel 6 in the US.
Review 38:The staff was friendly and the ;location and vistas are incredible. Breakfast was OK.
Review 39:The food (dinner) was less than spectacular and the price for what you get even less so.
Review 40:The location and view from the restaurant is unbeatable. We brought our own wine and they did not charge us for corkage.
Review 41:The breakfast is ok, limited choice. The coffee was good. Lack of information on walks and transport options for the area plus. The transport was unavailable and the staff did not offer alternatives to us. Would have been useful.
Review 42:Fantastic panoramic views of Torres del Paine. The lounge and dining room had good views to the massif and lake
Review 43:The crew seemed to be somehow bored - I can imagine the reason was that we visited the place in September - which was out of season. The Internet was extremely slow - but this seems to be a common thing - you're in the middle of nowhere :)
Review 44:Perfect location - situated on an island with a great view of Cuernos del Paine and Cerro Paine Grande. Great spot for the trek to Mirador Condor (the very next hill to the place), Salto Grade and Mirador Cuernos.
Review 45:It's very bad to get to see all the best trekibg locations from this hotel. The dinner was horrible and extremely overpriced. H Only having WiFi isn't the worst but it can make it more difficult to relax while connecting with friends and family.
Review 46:The breakfast was nice, wine prices from the bar we great too. The view was incredible!
Review 47:The location is absolutely breathtaking. The park pamphlet shows you the most interesting peaks of the park and they sit right in front of you from your room at this hotel. How much better could it get? It is also an easy drive to do the boat trip to the glaciers on Grey Lake. The room was comfortable and clean. We highly recommend this hotel if you want to see the best of the park.
Review 48:Leaving!
Review 49:Great friendly and helpful staff. Good meals, heating, comfort and best location in area. Well stocked bar, in fact everything an outdoor style hotel should be. Its not the Hilton and neither should it be.
Review 50:2 or 3 sentences is not enough to go over how much I love this hotel. The staff, the location, the room, the food. If I were ever to come back to Torres del Paine, I would come here.
Review 51:That I had to stay there only for one night;(
Review 52:Amazing place and people running this place. The food (dinner not included) was excellent, it cost -$25 per plate. We had a chicken and fish (hake) the food compared to what you can get in the states would land in the $35 bracket. The room was clean, bed sheets fresh. The view was spectacular. The menager was very helpful, the waitresses super nice. I highly recommend this place !!!
Review 53:The buildings are a little outdated and the quality of the food was average. But the place was clean, relatively well maintained and some of the rooms have truly amazing views of the mountains.
Review 54:Amazing location and view. The staff was incredibly friendly and accomodating.
Review 55:this hotel is an unloved one, rooms are old and shabby, no wifi connection in rooms, light went off every evening. Overpriced bar and restaurant.
Review 56:perfect and most amazing location and reasonably priced.
Review 57:Little bit cold in the apartment - winter times. However, we had a nice night of sleep under the sheets and covers.
Review 58:This is a special place: into the heart of Torres Del Paine Park, in an island, surrounded by green waters. Fantastic view! The staff is very friendly and does everything to please. Meals are carefully prepared and breakfast, in spite of the distance from town, is well served in terms of quality and variety. Little expensive for meals, but it is worth.
Review 59:Room had movies which was a shame and was cold. We had to have triple room despite there only being 3 other guests.
Review 60:Stunning views, great lounge area, great dining area all to beautiful views. Great breakfast.
Review 61:If you stay for more than one night the menu could easily get very boring. It's nice to have your own transport to see the rest if the park, though the staff can help you organise a car and driver aswell.
Review 62:It's amazing to stay within the park as the drive from puerto natales everyday is a significant one. I was lucky that this place was still open in early May when a lot of the places within the park were shut. The place is well maintained, in a beautiful spot! The views are spectacular!
Review 63:Fraud. Too much expensive for the poor quality they give. Rooms with the heating off, cold during all day, and with the water of the shower too. Rooms without wifi and tv. Only one menu really expensive and bad. Relation quality/price, the worst hotel in my live. It´s a pity I didn´t read the bad comment before to book. They repeat again and again.
Review 64:There are many things to not like about the facilities - the wifi is slow and finicky, hot water is only available some times of the day, and the water pressure of the shower is dismal. Unsurprisingly, I read a lot of negative reviews of the place. But given the remote and isolated location, and the bad weather and strong winds in this region, I am sympathetic towards the establishment. I think people staying here should appreciate that it probably isn't easy to maintain the facilities available. Given the constraints, I highly recommend this place. The location of this place is amazing, probably the best in the park.
Review 65:The rooms are quite run down. The bed was terrible. Bed spread was visibly dirty.
Review 66:You can walk to the top of the island for amazing views of the lake and mountains. The location of the hotel -- on an island in Lago Pehoe -- is really amazing. It is such a beautiful area. The breakfast was adequate. Shower was warm and felt good.
Review 67:,Staff completely ruined our stay. To say they were less than helpful would not be enough. Breakfast was terrible. Eggs were terrible all 5 days of our stay. Bread was dry and no effort to improve by staff. Internet was out most of the time as was telephone. It took alot for me to get the staff to help arrange a day tour which they eventually did by CB radio to another hotel. Fire the staff and you will improve anyone's stay immensely. We heard the rooms were bad but they were fine..basic. Staff killed it for us.
Review 68:Location...great view of the mountains and easy access to hiking trails
Review 69:Shower is not hot enough, room facilities need to be upgraded, dinner time is rather late
Review 70:Unbeatable location for sunrise, sunset. Easy connection to the regular buses
Review 71:It is really worn down, the walls are peeling off and the bathroom is all scratched. The public areas are the same, broken heaters, ruined sofas. The food was uneatable and pricy, and i am the one who is known to eat everything. They served rotten fruits at breakfast . In general, it felt like a bad youth hostel. The next day we walked to the close by explora hotel, where we got excellent coffee for just a little bit more. They also wanted to charge 120 usd for a ride within the park!
Review 72:The views and location
Review 73:The food is just plane horrible! For a 50usd dinner (per head) expect a cold steak and side-dish to come from a can. Do yourself a favor and drive 5min or walk for 10-15min till the camping ground where they have an excellent bbq restaurant
Review 74:The view is stunning
Review 75:A shame the rooms don't have a view and face towards the inside of island, but with the wind I guess it's better. Good food, but the portions aren't big and there isn't much choice (2 mains). They could also tell people it's not compulsory to take the whole 3-course menu.
Review 76:Amazing location on a island! Such beautiful views of Los Cuernos from their private mirador and from the restaurant.
Review 77:Room was old. Staff not attentive (advised of an early check out but no one was at the front desk and had to go out of our way to return later that day to pay our bill). Food was a joke and I barely touched it (dinner only offered a fixed menu at $35pp), felt robbed.
Review 78:The location is unique and view amazing
Review 79:I'd never book this hotel if it weren't for the national park. All the hotels in the area are expensive and the Hosteria Pehoe is foregiven but a price like that for such modest quality would normally be a reason to burn it down.
Review 80:It's nice to have a hotel on a little island and the Torres del paine national park is awesome.
Review 81:Rooms are just regular (1-2 stars hotel) for a price of a 4 stars! You have no choice for diner or lunch -only a menu at a tremendous price! The hotel is old and not relinquished and therefore not worth the price even if the view is fantastic. The hotel is far from Pudeto (catamaran and buses) and if you don't have a car you must spend 45 mn walk on the road to reach local transportation...
Review 82:The view to Los Cuernos. The hostal diner room and first floor.
Review 83:Although the rooms seem dated, the location more than offsets this. Wifi best in 2nd floor lounge and not available in room.
Review 84:Huge 2nd floor lounge above dining room also has breathtaking views of Torres/Cuernos mountains, free wifi and a computer. Best views are from island hill beside lodge. Dining room meals were fixed price, tasted great served by helpful staff. Breakfast was satisfying. Room was clean and serviced daily with shampoo/soap. Comfortable mattress and duvet provided a good sleep.
Review 85:The diesel smell of the on site heating plant that permeated the rooms most nights is truly dangerous. The indifference of the staff to basic requests is below youth hostel level (I.e. Please remove prior guests' dirty towels?) The duct-tape type of "maintenance" is actually humorous at times
Review 86:The location is central. The view is unmatched The footbridge is poetic
Review 87:All lodging/hotels associated with Parque Paine are overpriced for value delivered. Price fixing/cartelization is obviously in place here. Longterm, the Parque will or should suffer from this, since no-one enjoys being ripped off, even in a spectacular setting like this.
Review 88:fantastic views Cheerful personnel Price, though absurdly high, is actually quite low in comparison with alteratives in or around the Parque Paine. So, a negative becomes a possitive.
Review 89:They do not have internet in the room. Food is limited and expensive.
Review 90:It has a great view. The staff was solicitous and friendly. The breakfast was fine.
Review 91:The room was poor kept. No full amentities and not even a complimentary of water like other hotels of the same price range. I think they charge expensive because of the spledid view of snow capped mountain and the lake.
Review 92:The location of the hotel is stunning; on the tiny island amidst the beautiful blue lake Pehoe.
Review 93:Expensive restaurant Careful if you arrive without a rented car - no transport available
Review 94:Can't beat the view Central location in the park Nice lounge area with wifi and view
Review 95:Considerate and friendly staff, many speak excellent English and and very helpful.
Review 96:Fantastic location! Best view on the whole park was just outside my door!
Review 97:Bathroom doesn't work well ; doesn't feel clean
Review 98:The location is amazing
Review 99:The best location in the park! Wonderful view from the breakfast room. I proposed my girlfriend on the bridge in front the hotel :D
Review 100:This hotel is located on an island in Lake Pehoe and has spectacular views of Torres del Paine and the turquoise waters of the lake.
Review 101:Nothing
Review 102:Stunning location, friendly staff
Review 103:Food could be a lot better
Review 104:Helpful and friendly staff ; spectacular view from room and restaurant
Review 105:confort
Review 106:situation exceptionnelle
Review 107:No wifi in room & no TV
Review 108:Location & cleanliness
Review 109:Heating can be warmer in rooms
Review 110:Location, staff
Review 111:Dinner was expensive and not good at all. They can overcharge because of the lack of restaurants in the area
Review 112:wifi is on and off at all times. a heater in our room was not working.
Review 113:the location offers you the best view in the park
Review 114:the internet is very slow and the property needs more upgrades
Review 115:the place is overall amazing
Review 116:food
Review 117:value for money great view (available in a couple of rooms only)
Review 118:The indifference of the staff to the guests
Review 119:The location is without parallel
Review 120:Limited food availability in between meal times.
Review 121:The lounge with the great view to the Paine Massif is just fantastic.
Review 122:The rooms are no confortable, with no modern amenizes, lime televisionado and wifi.
Review 123:Location Staff The view
Review 124:The view and the location is absolutely perfect and is worth staying here instead of cheaper hostels far away from the park.
Review 125:The nicest view in the whole park and the dood was quite good as well!
Review 126:Nice place to stay on your way to NP Torres del Paine
Review 127:Lack of hot water!,,,,,! Fix menu at us$ 20.00 per persona.
Review 128:Location, unique in the world
Review 129:We have stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while visiting Torre del Paine. The hotel is very well ubicated to visit the south east of the park. It is very nice and comfort, there is a narrow and long bridge to reach it because the hotel is on a little island with a small hill where you can see wonderful sunsets.
Review 130:Internet signal is temporally available.
Review 131:This hotel locates in the most beautiful location of Torres del Paine. If you want to enjoy your vacation without much effort, staying here is the must. Young staffs here are very friendly and helpful.
Review 132:The rooms are basic and the money you pay is for the location.
Review 133:The location is beautiful, in the middle of the mountains on the lake. There are many paths that you can take without trekking. Fantastic view for the sunset on the small hill on the island. Staff very friendly and helpful.
