Review 1：Amazing place! We loved the place, and really enjoyed the room and its great views, as well as the home-made breakfast which included freshly picked berries from the property. The owners went above and beyond all our expectations and even drove us to a nearby restaurant so that we wouldn't get lost on our way there!

The location was fab for reaching all of the main sights within walking distance of a ferry port. Located in a nice sleepy town with some super restaurants (recommended by Alice). Wish we had stayed longer than our 3 nights!

Review 32：Everything was designed for our comfort. The bed, sheets, bathroom, toiletries, heating, mechanism of the ceiling window, shower... There were many small details that made the hotel nice. All of them were perfect. Hotel was situated in a quiet part of lago di como, making our stay even more enjoyable. The garden was huge and had lovely olive trees. It was possible to picnic. Breakfast was magnificent. Alice prepared the best omlette ever! She baked great cakes, focaccias in the morning and prepared fresh fruit juices. Her handmade cappucinos tasted perfect. She and Gorgio helped us a lot with our daily plans, they made great suggestions. They even made reservations in restaurants for us. In the afternoon, it was possible to make coffee or tea down at the breakfast room. Parking was also ok.

Review 67：Luckily we had a hire car as we would have struggled with the very, very steep walk up from the lake, restaurants, etc. Once at the gates of this property there is still a huge steep walk up to and then through the house and up more stairs to the rooms which we found quite challenging.

Review 71：Steep, grass walk to property or cobbled alley both not easy with heavy suitcases. Lack of sitting room. We were blessed with perfect weather so breakfast outdoors was fine but we wonder what happens in rain as inside servery would be too small to take more than four guests at a time

Staff were extremely friendly, rooms better than most hotels and the view incredible. Loved being in the quieter town of mezzegra, the best walk to the other great towns around. The owners - Alice&Giorgio, were very friendly and helpful. And if you want a treat, you should not skip the breakfast which is home made with wonderful fresh ingredients and an interesting twist. A true wonderland, we can't wait the summer to go back to Casa del Portico.
Review 85：The room although new and simple, didn't have a desk where we can have sometime at the computer, and there's no reception or no room where one can stay, so either we are in the room or there is nowhere to be. Also there is no full body mirror in the room! The room said lake view, and the view is through a small window. Overall I would say it is overpriced for what you get.

Review 88：Mezzegra is a great little town on the way to Menaggio, which has a top class Golf Course. The villa is situated about a 10 minute walk from the lake or a 2 minute drive. It is set on a large piece of land with great views. The rooms are new and very tastefully decorated. The apartments are spacious and the renovation has exposed the arched Porticoes, which are stunning. The villa has been in the same family for 2 centuries and is now run by daughter Alice and husband George. Breakfasts are amazing, huge choice and all home made. We highly recommend a stay here, although book early as they have people returning each year.
