Reviews for Hotel Villa Delle Meraviglie

Review 1:The only thing is that there is no restaurant on site. You need to drive into town and go for dinner. However, not at all a big deal.

Review 2:The grounds are beautiful! I wish we could have stayed longer than one night. It was very lovely!

Review 3:We were looking forward to swimming from the rocky beach but after one experience gave up - the swell made getting back to land quite tricky.

Review 4:Very comfortable hotel - peaceful and beautiful.

Review 5:NO ELEVATOR !! BREAKFAST - NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS.

Review 6:The hotel is located in an amazing & beautiful place, which gives you a great calmness. Rooms are nice, crew is welcoming. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Review 7:No real hotel services after 7pm. Be prepared to take the free shuttle to Fuimcello, a few taxis, or drive, in order to eat out.

Review 8:Lovely, friendly staff, especially the waiters. Hotel is well laid out in a peaceful location. Relaxing hotel ambience.

Review 9:Lot of mosquitoes and wasps (on the terrace at breakfast). The welcome at the reception was a little too cold. It would have been nice to have a few more quality options for breakfast, but for that price it was ok. Car is necessary

Review 10:The luscious garden surrounding the estate. Very pleasant atmosphere by the pool and in the park. The personal was willing to go that little extra for making us feel welcome and we really appreciated that the waiter took time to serve a good cappuccino. We recommend it for people who want to stay close to the nature.

Review 11:No elevator to take your suitcases Needs to improve breakfast

Review 12:The hotel is located in an amazing & beautiful place, which gives you a great calmness. Rooms are nice and clean, crew is welcoming. Enjoyed our stay.

Review 13:the last mornign we heard people from the next room playing at 6am with their dog as if they were in our own room.

Review 14:We love this hotel. It is a charming Italian villa within a mediteraen park. the view is fantastic from the hotel, the swimming pool or anywhere from the garden. Personnel is nice and helpfull. there is also a private beach.

Review 15:Carrying our bags up three flights to get to the room. No evening restaurant so had to go out to eat. Steep winding road down from main road SS18.

Review 16:The hotel has a great sea view, is very well set out and landscaped, and has two swimming pools on terraces below with a bar/cafe open all day. The hotel itself is well built and very tastefully decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.

Review 17:Wow, what a fabulously elegant old world hotel! The rooms (we had 2 owing to our last minute reservation), are simple Italian decor, nothing fancy but very clean and functional. However....the views of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the surrounding peaks dropping sharply into the ocean, the pine trees and the stunning terraced gardens are something to behold. The paved (relatively steep) 4 minute walk to the sea finds you on a small flat rock outcropping complete with beach chairs, umbrellas and a little laddar to launch yourself into the warm sea. If that's not your cup of tea, you can hang pool-side enjoying the ocean views, landscaping and a nice lunch prepared and served by the hotel's super professional yet friendly staff. Atypically of Italy, breakfast was a fairly extensive buffet offering some protein, fresh fruit and delicious homemade pastries. My husband and I travel extensively and this is the first time ever we chose to stay at the hotel all day rather than venturing out to explore the area. Not one to retrace footsteps, I'd return in a heartbeat.

Review 18:My only complaint was the breakfast with tinned fruit.

Review 19:The location is wonderful. The staff charming and helpful. The garden and pool are very beautiful. We cannot wait to return.

Review 20:The "beach" wasn't that good, long way of stairs and then impossible to swim....waves, no information at the hotel, you need bathshoes! No restaurant!!

Review 21:The staff and two trainees in breakfastrestaurang were exellent!

Review 22:The fact that the hotel does not have a restaurant means that guests have to go into Maratea for lunch and dinner and as the village is not within easy walking distance, transport has to be taxis if you don't have your own car

Review 23:Hotel itself is lovely. The grounds, views, swimming pool, terraces and gardens delightful

Review 24:Nothing bad, however the restaurants in the area that we tried were a little wanting.

Review 25:The position of the hotel on the ocean front and the many patios to enjoy relaxing. The staff were so attentive and always obliging.would like to have stayed longer.

Review 26:No restaurant on site--need to drive into Maratea for good selection. Hint: If you are using a GPS to find this location you will have difficulty, unless you use Fiumicello instead of Maratea for the city

Review 27:Helpful staff, especially Claudio, who volunteered to drive us to restaurants in town. Good breakfast. Nice pools

Review 28:google maps navigate you to the other destiny - be careful at night; despite being very nice staff didn't speak English

Review 29:beautiful location; delicious breakfast you can eat in the tarrace; not crowded - perfect privacy

Review 30:It is not in Maratea but more like Fumincello. There is no restaurant. Be aware that to get to Maritea is a €20 taxi ride.

Review 31:The location on a mountainside is beautiful, with a private (rocky) beach, a swimming pool with bar, nooks and crannies for privacy, a sauna, great staff, a fabulous breakfast.

Review 32:Not so much a dislike, but the hotel does not have a restaurant and the nearest town has good but basic offerings; plus one then must decide whether to have a glass of wine and risk the drive back to the hotel. Also, the construction of the hotel is tile, plaster etc and therefore noises transfer easily between rooms. Fortunately guests seem to be there for the peaceful quiet experience!

Review 33:Beautiful buildings, landscaped grounds, beach, fine, well-appointed room, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast. A gorgeous rural setting. Quiet!

Review 34:the address could not be entered into the GPS, and the staff were very unhelpful when I rang 3 times for directions- kept saying 250km... Clearly incorrect. Finally entered lat. and long. co-ords into GPS and arrived tired and frustrated. The reception staff looked bored when we arrived, there was no welcome from them and our room was not ready even though it was after 3 pm. Breakfast OK.

Review 35:stunning location and beautiful layout to the grounds including secluded areas with seating and easy, well formed steps to the sea below.

Review 36:Room smelled of damp mould when doors window was closed at night.

Review 37:The many outdoor areas Beach front Relaxing chairs and furniture Breakfast Beautiful gardens

Review 38:The Bed was not so comfortable as you could expect. The Room Size is also a concern, even with a nice little garden overlooking the sea. No dinner is served so you have to drive in to town at night and this can be a small drag if you just want to stay at the hotel.

Review 39:We loved the Location and the mood. The pool is a bit small but nicely located. Breakfast is really nice and the staff are very friendly but do not speak so good English.

Review 40:Nice to walk large property but need car or ride to restaurants port and town. Main road is dangerous to walk. No problem if you have a car.

Review 41:Location. private beach. Nice pool with snack bar. Very relaxing. View was spectacular. Staff friendly and helpful. Free parking. Free ride to port to take day boat.

Review 42:We arrived after a significant rainstorm. Window screens would help as there were mosquitoes due to the water and surrounding pines. It was a shame we had to sleep with our window closed.

Review 43:This hotel lives up to its name: marvelous! Quiet, scenic, attentive staff, lovely room, and delicious buffet breakfast on the terrace. We could not have asked for a better hotel; our only regret is that we stayed only one night.

Review 44:Car is required as no dinner is served. Access to the ocean is very dangerous - you better stay at the pool!

Review 45:Cosy place close to Maratea. Nice to relax a couple of days.

Review 46:The facilities and grounds were beautiful. The pictures didn't do it justice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will return to this beautiful and peaceful spot.

Review 47:As it was end of season I think the staff were a little past it by the time we arrived. Nice enough though.

Review 48:Location. Setting. Views.

Review 49:Beautiful property, wonderful location and garden, great breakfast, well-appointed room, proximity to Matarea, excellent value for money.

Review 50:An amazing place. We want to come back!

Review 51:Beautiful location. Very quiet.

Review 52:No bad experience. V. Helpful staff. Would like some food here at nighttime.

Review 53:Swimming in the sea. Fabulous! Best ever. Will return for this alone.

Review 54:No wifi in room

Review 55:Dipped in the pool at night

Review 56:Location,Staff,Facilities

Review 57:Driveway.

Review 58:Staff friendliness, location with beautiful outlook, overall facilities.

Review 59:need car to get there. Had to go out for dinner

Review 60:views and location Pool and bar offering lunch Breakfast on terrace

Review 61:No lift, a little tough to find but that's it.

Review 62:Everything, breakfast, pool, staff, room and view excellent.

Review 63:Nothing

Review 64:Everything

Review 65:Distance from restaurants

Review 66:Surroundings

Review 67:Remote and require car to access. Must drive to find dinner and it is mostly closed around the main road.

Review 68:local free parking. many stairs from the beach as the hotel is on the hill side. decorated perfectly.

Review 69:The hotel is located a short way out from the old town, so you would need a car, but it is a short, easy drive to the old town. We had no trouble finding parking but it might be an issue during high season. There are only a few hotels located right in the town and they are very expensive. Oceanside some sort of tiny, black insects found me to be quite tasty and their bites were very itchy. This seems to be an issue oceanside in many places in Italy. No one else seemed as bothered by them as me so I must be quite tasty!

Review 70:An exceptional hotel located oceanside with beautifully landscaped surroundings. Staff was very helpful and spoke English. The breakfast buffet offered a large variety of foods, including healthy options and tantalizing tortes. Our room was clean and comfortable and there were many areas in which to relax, indoors and outdoors.

Review 71:A bit isolated, no restaurant, so driving necessary for evening meals.

Review 72:Beautiful extensive grounds, lovely gardens set out with care, many places to sit in comfort in shade and enjoy surroundings.. Hotel itself furnished with care. Staff pleasant and helpful. Hotel organises transport to local beach as direct access to sea from hotel unsuitable for children or disabled.

Review 73:1) They don't have evening meals and it is 20 minutes to Maratea with no bus/taxi option so it wasn't possible to go into town for dinner and a bottle of wine, driving was necessary. 2) The staff didn't speak English, which was not a problem for us and was good for our limited Italian, but some travellers might find this difficult. 3) The swarms of wasps at breakfast were off-putting.

Review 74:1) The gardens and pool area were fabulous and spotlessly maintained. 2) The hotel itself is beautiful and, again, spotless. 3) Our room was elegant and nicely furnished. It was a bit small (and we requested a sea view and didn't get one) but it was comfortable and had mod cons in working order. 4) Breakfast was excellent and it was great to sit outside with a view of the sea. 5) The view and the surrounding area are stunning, we loved the crickets singing all day. 6) Maratea is a pretty town with everything you could need 7) The lunches and pool bar were fabulous and the staff there were lovely

Review 75:We had a car. Absolutely necessary because the hotel is not near a town.No dinner served at hotel so a problem if you have no car. Bedroom wasok. Lighting very poor. In order to read in the evening we had to go tothe lounge. No tea making facilities. Toiletries very poor. .One smallbottle of shampoo and one of shower gel. Definitely not value for moneyat 200 euros a night.

Review 76:Location was beautiful. Hotel grounds were pretty and very well kept.Great swimming pool. Bar attended. Towels provided and plenty of poolfurniture and umbrellas. A walk down to the sea. Umbrellas, chairs andtables were provided. A great place to have a sundowner. Good breakfastarea on the terrace with sea views. Breakfast was ok. No hot food. Fruitwas not as fresh as you would expect. Staff were very helpful but had noEnglish at all. We did communicate via Google translate.

Review 77:Very little English spoken and not one person at reception could understand what you were looking for, so looking for information re area or what was on in the area was impossible, With this have to say the staff were very friendly and helped where possible.

Review 78:good value for money. Friendly staff. Very clean.

Review 79:We were told that we had a sea view room, it was not and they refused tomove us to one with a view.

Review 80:We had a problem with our car the staff could not be more helpful.

Review 81:mattress too hard. they do not have a restaurant so it is needed a car and getting out to eat. restaurants are at driving distance and not walking.

Review 82:the setting was wonderful hence the name.

Review 83:The hotel does not have a restaurant in the evenings and staff appeared to be not very well informed about good restaurants nearby.

Review 84:The hotel is in a beautiful location in its own grounds. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean and the breakfast has a really good choice.

Review 85:Not enough waterpressure in the shower in the 2nd floor. Also not enough warm water. No wifi in the room. The room is old fashioned. No help with the luggage to the 2nd floor, for us no problem. It is isolated. The reception was not very friendly. This place could be perfect, but all these small things didn't make our stay not that special.

Review 86:Beautiful garden!

Review 87:It was a B&B. It is such a loveoly place I would have loved to have evening meals there overlooking the beautiful gardens and the sea.

Review 88:Beautiful surroundings. Staff were friendly. Stunning Location.

Review 89:Warm water only in shower a major issue. Driveway down to hotel is challenging, one for good drivers only

Review 90:Great views and pool. Reasonably priced for a one night stop over

Review 91:We didn't get to stay longer. It was a very sad day when wehad to leave.

Review 92:These accomodations were actually "Heaven on Earth" Thelocation, cleanliness, food, staff, room, grounds, and anything otherthat I have missed it could not have been any better. We can not wait toreturn as this truly is a wonderful place. They have gone over the top -you made our stay a very memorable one - thank you!

Review 93:car is very helpful to get around

Review 94:Great secluded and quiet location. Nice sea view from room. Beautiful garden with swimmingpool and nice relax-area. Breakfast buffet was very extensive, staff very attentive. Wish we had more time to spend..

Review 95:Having to leave.

Review 96:Everything was perfect.

Review 97:slightly tricky exit from the hotel onto the main road

Review 98:exceptional value for money wonderful gardens, pool area and private (rocky) beach

Review 99:The setting was beautiful and well maintained. A hidden gem

Review 100:Absolute gem, I paid nothing for what it was worth. In a beautiful pinewood, you need a car to get there (ever if they have shuttles)

Review 101:amazing location, beautiful private sea side, free parking

Review 102:Beautiful area, fabulous flowers, so peaceful. Friendly helpful staff and clean rooms.

Review 103:Didn't serve dinner, room quite small

Review 104:Staff were amazing, location lovely, breakfast was fabulous

Review 105:=) there is nothing to NOT like at Hotel delle Meraviglie.

Review 106:The location, the people, the food, customer service, everything!

Review 107:As much beauty as the Amalfi Coast but without the crowds of people. Very relaxing and lovely grounds.

Review 108:Everything was amazing. Location, personnel, service, breakfast, view!
