Reviews for Hotel Gasthof Klause

Review 1:Didn't expect a special event, easy enough to work around though.

Review 2:Location was perfect for convenience of hiking the castle area and spending time.

Review 3:due to being in a narrow valley it can get dark early

Review 4:perfect for either a stop over in Ausserfern or if visit the castles around, basic but clean and very friendly

Review 5:location is good if you have a car or bicycle. near many opportunities for recreation and sightseeing. we were going to stay one night but stayed 4. great price.

Review 6:Very accommodating and friendly staff. Accommodation was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. Great stopover location, would definitely stay for longer and would recommend.

Review 7:The buffet breakfast was not good, the plates were dirty and there were dead flies on top of the dishes...

Review 8:Good location, very close to the Highline 179. Great experience.

Review 9:We were surprised to find no bedside lights or reading light for the settee.

Review 10:The studio appartment was clean & had the nice surprise of a small dishwasher.

Review 11:We didn't get the room we had booked nor the promised facilities - that can happen from time to time and we can survive a night without a bathtub and kitchen but the staff was directly rude and arrogant in all our interactions. A bad day at work doesn't justify this kind of behavior at all, it's the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Avoid it if you can, there are many nice places in Reutte with decent customer service

Review 12:Location is next to the highway so it doesn't have to be a long stop

Review 13:We felt like we were in a different time with the gorgeous barn, castle and dirt above. The kids loved the playground and hands on museum! My husband and I walked up to the castle at night and saw the fireflies dancing all around us. The castle was all lit up and eerie quiet, a highlight on our trip!

Review 14:Place locked up on arrival. Eventually found reception in nearby restaurant but there was nothing to direct us to it. Food and service at restaurant, including breakfast, was not great.

Review 15:Convenient location on our route.

Review 16:Had to pay in cash due to their machines not accepting my American Visa or Mastercard. I have not had issues with other Austrian businesses and this was a first.

Review 17:Rooms for five were plenty big! Beds were comfortable and inviting! Wifi was strong and easy to connect. Kitchenette was ready to use. At base of Ehrenburg Castle and Fort Claudia and Highline bridge made for great morning hike!

Review 18:The restaurant stopped serving at 8pm. Perhaps it's different at busier times of the year, but that's a bit early for us. There are restaurants in the nearby town, we were pleased to find a very nice tapas restaurant.

Review 19:This was an ideal stop for us for a couple of days, easy to find and not far from the main road. The accommodation block is separate from the restaurant, and as it is primarily geared for skiing, it is quite quiet in June. The community in which it is set is really interesting, as is the nearby town of Reutte.

Review 20:Unfortunately, there was an event being held at a nearby building which meant the noise levels were quite high late into the night.

Review 21:This hotel has a converted barn as its restaurant giving it wonderful character.

Review 22:NOTE: The Reception area is located within the restaurant and on arrival mid-afternoon we had difficulty finding where to check in or staff to advise us.

Review 23:This guesthouse is in a superb location. Very close to the main through road for travel to Germany/Itay, yet there is no traffic noise. There are castles to explore nearby, the newly constructed record-breaking suspension bridge Highline 179 is directly overhead and opportunities abound for scenic walks in every direction. The food in the restaurant was surprisingly good. It looked rather like a school canteen at first glance - a restored high-ceilinged barn - but there was tasty fare to be enjoyed at reasonable prices. The room was basic but quiet and very clean.

Review 24:Dinner: the 'house' wine bottle was very expensive, this gave us a feel of being fooled by the waiter. Next day we had to pay for the breakfast which was supposed to be included in the price.

Review 25:Perfect family room with huge bathroom

Review 26:Kitchen could be better equiped and pull out beds only recommended for youth comfort.

Review 27:Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Fun adventures can be had right at hotel area. Good location for skiing Zugspitze and seeing Bavarian sites.

Review 28:The staff were fantastic, the food was great and the room was wonderful. I give this hotel my highest rating. A great Austrian experience and we will return to this hotel again. The WIFI was strong and fast,I was able to conduct business easily. Very close to great tourist areas such as Linderhof, Neuschwanstein and the Zugspitze.

Review 29:Other staff not as helpful as who we presumed were owner and wife who were lovely. Food not to our taste but we'll prepared.

Review 30:Very clean. Pleasant owner. Beautiful area.

Review 31:Our room on the ground floor was huge, the bathroom was also spacious, and the bed was one of the best we have slept in, having the restaurant next door was very handy. A great place to stay, very peaceful surroundings

Review 32:- nothing

Review 33:- location surrounded by pine forests offering pure fresh air - not very far to the castles' region - breakfast - simple but very convenient and clean room and bath - offers excellent options for trekking - THE OWNER...very warm and helpful...helped us even with the baggage carrying upstairs

Review 34:Couldn't find where to check in & no one was there. We found the key to our room taped to a window. No map or instructions to tell us where the room was or how to get in. Had to find others to ask how to access the internet.

Review 35:Clean and was good but only stayed 1 night

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:We were travelling through the area on our way to Berlin and wanted to see the castles and spend the night somewhere close by. This Hotel was a real gem we didn't expect and ended up being our favorite place we stayed on our 2 week trip. I wish we would have stayed longer. Gorgeous setting! Super clean and spacious rooms. Very nice staff. We left early and did not do breakfast but it looked great. I was hoping this would be an 'ok' hotel for a quick trip and was astonished by how 'excellent' it was.

Review 38:to pay 35 euros for 1 one night for cleaning the room means to pay much more than the price indicated in the offer (I realized after if was specified at the end of the confirmation and I would not have booked if it was clear from the beginning). consider the apartments are not 'in the castle' as written by some customers, but in a relatively new building near 'a' kind of castle (that can be visited paying).

Review 39:large apartment

Review 40:I like the hotel. We had a very good sleep in the hotel. Everything seems to be excellent: the stall\ breakfast\ beds etc. 旅馆很好,我们选择它作为新天鹅堡观光后的一站,驾车不过半小时,价格却划算很多,旅馆房间很舒适。周围的PLANSEE很美。

Review 41:We loved the history and charm of this place. The castle ruins were amazing and the museum was very nice. Great food in the restaurant. Nice location. Large room.

Review 42:Nothing. Wireless was a bit unreliable, but as the modem was in the room it could be restarted easily, and then worked well (until the next restart was needed).

Review 43:In an absolutely beautiful location in the middle of the mountains in western Austria. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment that was very comfortable, with a great balcony from which it was possible to see both mountains and the excellent playground. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the restaurant also good. Right above the guesthouse is ruins of an old keep, and there is a good small museum next door. In short, very hard to fault, and after a two night stay my kids were suggesting we should come back again for a week.

Review 44:Restaurant was good but a bit expensive.

Review 45:Plenty of hiking right out the door!

Review 46:Shower head ruined the shower, but everything else was great.

Review 47:Great staff. Very friendly and accommodating. Awesome breakfast, great location.

Review 48:Appartment was well equiped, scenary of the mountains, historical background, optional activities

Review 49:Excellent restaurant on site.

Review 50:restaurant closed early

Review 51:location

Review 52:All totally excellent

Review 53:interesting location, great history plus a spectacular bridge. motorcycle parking in a safe location

Review 54:The location was convenient to several castles and the town of reutte. The room was also quite spacious.

Review 55:large studio apartment

Review 56:Staff were very friendly, facilities for kids from rooms to play areas was excellent and the location is stunning.

Review 57:Amazing location: Two castles and air bridge

Review 58:did not have room with balcony as requested. The food (goulash) very poor and tough

Review 59:good location and friendly staff

Review 60:wifi dhcp was not working at the time we were there

Review 61:Excellent help to solve the wifi issue.

Review 62:Interesting location, just below the longest rope bridge in the world, which can be reached with 15 min walk/climb.

Review 63:the room was large and very clean, staff was helpful and we had a superb stay. Thank you

Review 64:wifi

Review 65:great spot, room, restaurant

Review 66:Breakfast

Review 67:Location

Review 68:Great location, right next to two castles, and close to Neuschwanstein.

Review 69:beautiful large, clean and well-equipped apartment, nice staff, good restaurant with good prices. The location is typical and beautiful

Review 70:Kitchen smelling gets til the room

Review 71:Family room Restaurant

Review 72:We stay here every year on our european travels, for the kids it's the high point of the holidays.

Review 73:Loved everything! Hospital staff, walked to incredible castle ruins,

Review 74:We will be coming back. Hotel room was spacious, great sleeper sofa, excellent food with fair prices. Great museum. Wonderful history here.

Review 75:Nothing to report

Review 76:Location Clean and comfortable beds Great meals Extremely Helpful staff

Review 77:Had booked wrong date. Place was closed but management fixed a room for me.

Review 78:Beautiful nature, intreresting places to visit near the hotel, free tickets to swimming pool, museum .Thank you.

Review 79:We loved the history in the area. We didn't know that we had hit a gemstone when we drove in. The restaurant was amazing! Especially their apricot strudel with vanilla sauce. The staff was so friendly. The museum was w fun and brought to life the castle ruins in the area. One of our favorite places to stay. Thx for making our holiday so memorable and especially making us feel so special. We didn't feel like tourist, how refreshing!

Review 80:The apartment is very cold at night as the heating is via the traditional wall-mounted oil heaters. However the host kindly provided us with an additional portable fan heater without being asked.

Review 81:Very accommodating hosts, quaint medieval setting right beneath castle ruins. All-in-all a very budget-friendly place to discover the South Bavaria and Tyrol regions

Review 82:Only annoyance were the flys in the dining room.

Review 83:Our stay was more than we hoped for. Manfred our host was very friendly and accommodating. He spoke very good english and helped us navigate our way during our 2 night stay. We ate all our meals in the restaurant and found the food to be fresh and delicious. Manfred told us about some of the typical local dishes and we enjoyed our meals. Would recommend to others and would definitely stay there again.

Review 84:The Wifi is spotty, (probably) depending on how many guests are staying. The breakfast was fine, for the price, but not great.

Review 85:The location is fantastic! We were very excited to discover the Gasthof is directly beneath the ruins of Castle Ehrenburg. The museum that is part of the same complex is also great for children, with lots of hands-on activities (including armour to try on!) and is free for guests. You can walk up to the castle but we were unlucky and had bad weather. The apartment we stayed in was comfortable, warm, and clean, and big enough for four. There is a small kitchen and the balcony looks towards the Fernpass and mountains. We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was good hearty local cuisine. Our host was great. He made sure we were happy throughout our stay. He spoke very good English. Füssen and Schloss Neuschwanstein are a 10-15 minute drive away, so very accessible. Reutte itself is five minutes away by car at most, with plenty of amenities and a great swimming complex.

Review 86:We had an apartment with very good space. The price was a little high and the only restaraunt was a little expensive but the food was good. There was no dedicated lobby so it was a little confusing at first where to check in.

Review 87:The hiking was amazing. The views were beautiful and our kids really enjoyed the castle and fort ruins. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 88:WiFi did not work when we arrived

Review 89:The apartment was bigger then we thought The kitchen well equipped The location is surprising - a very good place to stay on the way from Austria to Neusvaistein

Review 90:They do have wireless just so happened to be down when we went. The hotel was adorable clean and definitely worth the money the staff wad great and the restaurant was great.

Review 91:Extremely courteous staff. Very kind to our 3-year old twins. The restaurant food is great (best Jagerschnizel I have ever had). Museum is great for kids (they can try on armor). Location could not be better. The three nearby castle ruins are great hikes with amazing views, and Neuschwanstein is only 15 minutes away by car. We will definitely visit again!

Review 92:This was a fantastic place to stay with or without kids. The hiking around the property was amazing, the museum and activity card offered for free to hotel guests was a really great benefit and a wonderful restaurant on the premises. The included breakfast was nice and had plenty of options. The manager and his wife were helpful and very kind. Thank you for a great stay we would definitely recommend this and would return!

Review 93:The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The restaurant can be advised not only for the breakfast (included in the room price) but also for dinner (So nog need to drive with the car to another restaurant)!

Review 94:The staff were amazing really helpful and chatty. Food was splendid, lots of choice and really great quality. The rooms were clean aned looked really new. Location was perfect.

Review 95:The owner/manager angrily accused us of damaging the dining table and chairs, but we never even used them. We left immediately after dressing each day and didn't return until after dinner just in time for bed. He continued to accuse us, didn't want to accept our answer. I understand him being upset about the damage, but we didnt do it and he was very ungracious and unprofessional to us. The rest of the staff was kind but spoke no English. We had changed our reservation several weeks ago on booking.com but they still had our original checkin date. Wifi didn't work the first night.

Review 96:Good location. Enjoyed the hike up to the ruins. Didn't use the kitchen facilities at all so can't comment on them.

Review 97:Our host Manfred was extremely accommodating. Off the beaten path but anexcellent location with an easy drive to the Ludwig castles in Germanyand the breath-taking mountains of Austria. The food at the restaurantwas fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Some of our group toured themuseum and even donned suits of armor and chainmaille. Great stay, highly recommend!!!

Review 98:Only one thing - extractor fan in toilet was noisy & ran for a long time. Otherwise, great :-)

Review 99:We loved this place. Amazing location, in grounds of a ruin and a museum. Half an hour hike up well - maintained path to wonderful ruined fort & spectacular views. Great base for walkers as 3 ruins are nearby. Food was great - generous portions, fab salad, some unusual and tasty options. A couple of staff speak good English. Really helpful, laid-back and hospitable manager. We were in apartment rooms & they were well - furnished with very comfortable beds.

Review 100:Restaurant area was not big enough for breakfast - not enough tables; some of the food ran out. A little disorganised.

Review 101:Very spacious, new accomodation. Well equipped room. Restaurant had decent menu and was good value.

Review 102:Complex is quite close to the main road but with closed window there was no noise in the room.

Review 103:We slept here during our tour from Neuschwanstein castle (only about 20 km). Good value hotel, really nice complex, our room was very modern and new and comfortable, good mattress and blankets, really excellent! Breakfast was great, too. Staff (older man) was nice to us.

Review 104:Breakfast was cold rolls and a small choice of meat and cheese. Second worst one we've had in two months of holiday. Hotel is away from everything, so have to drive to eat dinner unless you eat at their restaurant.

Review 105:I have booked by internet, you know all the details....skip thosecumbersome outcheck procedures!!

Review 106:The site is excellent, the ruins are great and there are three inwalking distance. Good hotel, friendly staff and excellent food!

Review 107:Clean, spacious, confortable rooms. Good value for money restaurant. Pleasant staff who did their best to communicate in English. I would certainly go back if travelling through Tirol again.

Review 108:We all enjoyed this one despite the wet weather setting in while we were here!!

Review 109:The rooms were well equipped and spotless ideal with families, lovely staff always had a smile especially the young man in the restaurant, what a star.

Review 110:I was under the impression that we were staying in the castle when really our rooms were in the knights quarters and the castle is a distance away.

Review 111:We enjoyed the castle ruins.

Review 112:The kichen has most of the equipment but no microwave. Freezer did not work well. hotel manager give answers when asked but not very warm and give a feeling of being welcomed.

Review 113:The room is clean, confortable and spacious. Location is a bit far from Rhuett but if drive a car, its very easy to reach the town. great access to nature

Review 114:Kids park outside Museum near hotel Castle Room big and well equipped 20 minute to Fussen
