Reviews for Hotel Murmann

Review 1:We did not realize that the hotel is quite a distance from Matera itself. Still, the location is very pleasant.

Review 2:Well appointed rooms, nice and spacious, with a good size bathroom. Recently refurbished.Friendly staff.Recommended!

Review 3:The warm welcoming wasn't there when we arrived in front the lady at the reception. In our attic room there was a problem with their A/C (28 degrees in our room!!!) Had to change twice our room. Thanks to their great housekeepers to find us another room with A/C that had worked the next morning. FYI : Parking fee per day is 12 euros... expensive and don't really necessary in September. Pool towel is 3 euros per person.

Review 4:The pool was really great and big! Enjoyed to have Prosecco at the pool. The guy at the bar was really nice.

Review 5:The village is really tiny and the public transport is nor very reliable. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the nearest beach, might be an issue if not travelling by car.

Review 6:Nice hotel, all clean and tidy. Some of the staff really charming! :)) Very quet area.

Review 7:The staff were excellent including the breakfast staff who was very courteous and attentive. The gardens were lovely, a little oasis and a nice change from the overcrowded Amalfi coast. The surrounding mountains were spectacular.

Review 8:The pool is fantastic although we as a group of 3 appeared to have fun so one of the staff members promptly typed up some pool rules and when he returned, nailed them to a wall near by. It seemed totally unnecessary and put a damper on our perfect afternoon. The front of house staff seemed a little grumpy but on average the service was good. The bed was two singles put together, something I'm not used to.

Review 9:Nice spacious rooms with all the amenities one could ask for. Its a stones throw from a supermarket and eateries. Picture perfect location!

Review 10:You are not asked if you want to have real espresso for breakfast, so please don't hesitate to ask for.

Review 11:Harbour and beach can be reached within 15 minutes walking.

Review 12:Nothing, everything was perfect!

Review 13:Nice clean rooms with balcony with view of the mountains. Lovely spacious pool with umbrellas and sunbeds. Close to the beach, just a few minutes walk. Very helpfull staff who recommended a great restaurant for dinner. Great breakfast. All in all, the best place for visiting Maratea and surroundings!

Review 14:Sort of a shock when we discovered the cost of there secure parking. 24euros for two nts.

Review 15:We'll positioned hotel and only a short drive to the famous statue high on the hill, overlooking the bay.

Review 16:The staff were extremely helpful. We were travelling en route to Sicily from the Amalfi Coast and Maratea was a convenient and very pleasant place to spend the night.

Review 17:Price of parking was on the high side, especially for low season.

Review 18:We spent 2 nights here in April, very quiet, possibly too quiet. Very friendly and helpful personel.

Review 19:Totally un-charming staff (although correct). Typically a 4-star hotel that overestimate itself. Boring. Ventilation in the room was a disaster. The room became like a Turkish sauna, even when low humidity outside, forming condensation on the inside of the window. Bad smell in the room as well. Also, very bad sound comfort. You could hear everything from every room close to your own.

Review 20:To leave the place.

Review 21:An absolute unexpected jewel of a place amongst the most beautifulcolors of nature. Was a surprise to see the wee bay and beautiful colorsof the sea and gorgeous hills and trees. Loved it. Clran and refreshing.

Review 22:Staffs were not customer centric, impolite and not helpful. Requested the iron and the ironing board but reques was rejected because they believe that it violates the hotel's safety policy. SERIOUSLY???? I have traveled around the world, stayed in so many hotels and never.had issue in getting an iron! After convincing them to borrow ( because we had wedding reception the next day and it was important for us) they finally agree , unwillingly. Would I return??? No and never again for their lack of hospitality.

Review 23:Building did not feel like old Italy!

Review 24:Rooms very comfortable and clean with lovely views. Lady at reception very helpful with doing some bookings for us.

Review 25:bathroom layout, problem if you are tall as the toilet is under the eaves!

Review 26:Modern hotel, friendly staff. A little distant from the village centre but good for the beach.

Review 27:There was absolutely nothing I didn't like!

Review 28:Very quiet location, super friendly and helpful staff! In a very small town which is like a suburb of Maratea! The beach is just a short walk down the road/ stairs. Small rocky beach , but it's still a beach! A must do is to drive up the mountain to el Giardino Di Epicuro ;This is one of the top 50 restaurants in Italy; a family business . You won't be disappointed , the food is all amazing and homemade by Pappa and Nona! House wine super good, made by Pappa as well! The Murman itself is overall a great hotel, we had a poolside room: on the first floor, great bed, super clean , breakfast is typical with sweets , bread, cheese and no fruit! Yougurt and granola available! Good coffee out of a machine but staff more than happy to whip u up a real cappuccino ! Bar available for a beer or glass of Vino! This was one of my fav hotel while touring the south of Italy!

Review 29:Lovely ocean views from our balcony, attentive staff and wonderful local cuisine.

Review 30:Great hotel near the beach and the old port. Great view of the sea from the balcony of the room. Nice breakfast buffet.

Review 31:Comfortable room, excellent air conditioning, staff very welcoming and friendly, beautifully kept pool.

Review 32:The view was spectacular, we loved the pool and the walk to town for dinner!

Review 33:Attic bedrooms a bit warm, but air conditioned

Review 34:parking on site, charming staff, immaculately clean, good condition of hotel

Review 35:The mattress on the bed needs to be replaced.

Review 36:The location, swimming pool and room. Good variety for breakfast.

Review 37:The staff is kind and professional, ready to help and give advice. The location is near the beach and the port. Maratea is easy to reach.

Review 38:The only think we did not like was no wifi in the bedroom This hotel has wifi in the foyer only

Review 39:The rooms were large with a balcony and lovely pool and staff were very friendly and location was great

Review 40:We loved this hotel. The staff were warm and welcoming, the breakfast was good with excellent coffee and the decor with its bluish floor tiles fitted the maritime setting.

Review 41:View from lower floor rooms facing away from the sea includes, as wellas the mountains, the bins and the car park, but that's a minorissue. Car parking is sometimes a problem. Hotel allows dogs, whichmight be a good thing if you're a dog-owner but not for others ifyou leave your dog barking when you have gone out for the evening.

Review 42:Modern, well-appointed hotel. Lovely pool, almost always quiet. Close tobeaches and wide range of restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful. Roomscomfortable, light, well-furnished and immaculate. Great roof terracefor sundowners.

Review 43:The only negative was really just an inconvenience. There were absolutely no power outlets in the room except for the 2 where the desk lamp and the TV were plugged in. Charging a cell phone on the nightstand was impossible. You had to choose between watching TV or charging a phone.

Review 44:The hotel was clean and modern. The location was great as it was central to everything. The pool was also a great feature to have if you decide not to go to the beach one day.

Review 45:Lack of power points in room to charge items. Was in the attic rooms so kept smashing our heads on the low beams. No WiFi in the rooms.

Review 46:Breakfast was amazing. Location wasn't too bad. Bus ride to centre, walk to beach. If coming from Sapri - 30€ taxi fare. Great views from balcony at sunset. Relaxing by the pool.

Review 47:Good location - a short walk to the port and beach. Grocery store nearby. Room was very clean and big - we were in the attic . Breakfast was good - warm croissants! Wifi only available in the lobby though. Staff helpful.

Review 48:Great location. Modern beautiful rooms. Really good value for money and a great place to enjoy the beach and the city (there is a free shuttle). Free parking near the hotel. Good breakfast and a very friendly stuff.

Review 49:I'm being picky now, but that pool was really quite cold...

Review 50:It was a lovely place - near to a nice beach and well located for exploring Maratea. Pool area was as beautiful as it looks in the pictures, if a bit cold! There was also a nice roof sun terrace where you could watch the sun go down! We stayed in the attic room as we were looking for something quite budget (it was cheapest!), and it was perfect for us - comfy, spacious and a really good power shower. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, even patient with our lack of italian! There was a really nice man at breakfast (we decided he must have been "Mr Murmann"), who got us fancy coffees and made sure we had everything we wanted. Breakfast was nice - range of breads, pastries, fruit, cereals, juices and jams, nutella etc! The area it's in is nice and near to Port where you can find trendy cafes, restaurants. We ate in a little local place down the road, and had some nice antipasti and local fish.

Review 51:Our balcony overlooked the parking lot. The location is not great, it took us 20min to walk down to the beach and you have to drive to get to the centre of Maratea.

Review 52:Everything is brand new and in good condition. The aircon is a must as there were a lot of mosquitoes outside. Very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast. Nice restaurant nearby.

Review 53:Single downside - it's not really Maratea, the hotel is located inFiumicello which is sort of outskirts of Maratea, you need to drive toget to city center. That's not bad really, you just need to realizethat before booking

Review 54:Nice hotel, we used it as our base for two days, so didn't reallyuse its facilities, room really had a sunset seaview, very nice/Room very clean. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Very nice restaurantnearby - just walk towards Maratea itself 200 meters and you'll seeit in a small garden. Can't say anything about beach access, I thinkit's nearby.

Review 55:You would definitely need a rental car if staying here as there is little to do nearby except relax. Even walking can be a problem with the very narrow twisting roads along cliff tops.

Review 56:Everything about the Hotel Murmann was excellent from cleanliness to value for money.

Review 57:our room (209) was a bit unlucky: underperforming AC, shower-box leaking water on the floor, view on the car parking.

Review 58:nice and relatively cheap hotel conveniently located in Fiumicello, a small village close to the sea at about 4 km from the beautiful town centre of Maratea. good breakfast, small swimming pool, very helpful and nice staff.

Review 59:Not enough restaurants within walking distance or even in Maratea.

Review 60:Friendly and professional staff, very clean in all areas with a high standard of finishing. Good bus service into Maratea.

Review 61:Not much, couple of hairs on bedroom floor on arrival. Bar service a little slow (maybe I was drinking too fast)

Review 62:Beautiful hotel with great staff set between beach and village. Good restaurants close by. Village of Maratea must be seen, like something out of a postcard. A great holiday had here.

Review 63:The bathroom was especially cramped, and the shower drained too slowly, making it very easy to flood the premises.

Review 64:Hotel Murmann is located a short walk from the enticing black sand beach at Maratea and within walking distance of the beach town's restaurants. From the terrace of our room, we could see the sea. The room was small and functional, though spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet on the open terrace was the most generous I've had in Italy. The standout element, however, was the hotel staff, which was friendly, professional, and willing to extend itself in many small and large ways.

Review 65:The nicest hotel during our 3 week vacation to southern Italy andSicily. New hotel with excellent staff. On-site parking. Several nicerestaurants within walking distance. Wish we could have stayedseveral days.

Review 66:Not really close to anything - not really the fault of hotel - that isthe makeup of the area - 4-5 km from old centre and 1 km from the townharbour which is worth a visit

Review 67:Well maintained hotel with english speaking staff - great views of seaand mountains from our balcony -

Review 68:Hotel was difficult to find as website says it is in Maratea but hotelis actually in the small village of Fiumicello. No decafinatted coffee.

Review 69:Great location. Clean well equiped good sized room.

Review 70:Staff very correct but lacking charm

Review 71:Lovely hotel, balcony, terrace, swimming pool

Review 72:Nothing..

Review 73:Great location. The staff especially Nino Cristiano, the director, were great. Nino did a great job and made us feel right at home...

Review 74:Staff very friendly

Review 75:- parking is not free - the place has a quite sterile interior

Review 76:+ low prices out of season

Review 77:Very nice place with good facilities. Helpful staff

Review 78:No in room wifi, no restaurant, basic breakfast, small shower

Review 79:Modern, inexpensive

Review 80:Grazie a tutti! It was a very nice stay at Hotel Murmann.

Review 81:Position great walking distance to the beach. Small sea side village. Great for relaxing .

Review 82:The cleaning, the courtesy and efficiency of the staff and the comfort.

Review 83:Nothing.

Review 84:The pool, the location, the room.

Review 85:Breakfast wasn't great

Review 86:Nice big room. Close to lovely beach

Review 87:Excellent staff. Lovely room. Great location.

Review 88:everything. but not a place for teenage kids for more than a few days. idle for couples who want a quiet romantic break.

Review 89:Lovely hotel in Maratea with good design....helpful staff...beautiful common areas and pool!

Review 90:Hard to find!!!!!

Review 91:It was a convenient mid-way stop between Sorrento and Taormina.
