Reviews for Hotel Lario

Review 1:The hotel needs some update. The carpet on the different floors, especially the 3rd floor, are all stained up and look trashy. The elevator also needs to be updated. It was shaky and bumpy every time we got in. Once there was a big bump and it was the last time I got in there, did not feel safe. The room was nice and big and clean for the most part but the bed is hard as concrete and the pillows look fluffy but are really flat as a pancake. The balcony area could have been up kept much better as there were spider webs every where and a small table would have been nice to set down a drink while out there. The breakfast was also not good at all. All they offer is croissants, toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, and fruit. We ended up driving up the street 15 minutes to a hotel/restaurant that offered an actual breakfast.

Review 2:The location is on the other side of Bellagio and just up the street from Tremezza. If you don't have a car I do not recommend staying here as the roads are not very safe to walk. I would also only recommend this hotel if you are booking a balcony room, that is what made it worth it to us. The view of the lake was beautiful and peaceful. The staff was also very friendly and they have a nice large parking garage if you are driving.

Review 3:Staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the dining room wait staff and the young women who cleaned our room. The view from our room was glorious and we used the balcony every day. A lovely place to return to after a day of exploring Lage de Como.

Review 4:excellent location , the hotel is fantastic very clean , large rooms with balconies, the food is very good and the staff very informative and helpful . everything about this hotel helped us to have a great stay in Lake Como

Review 5:far from ferry station or rail station, won't recommend for travelers without a car; room rather small considering it's a hotel;

Review 6:Swimming pool; breakfast and restaurant; comfortable bed;

Review 7:The wifi was not brilliant but that did not deter us from having a good trip

Review 8:The location and balcony with the view. Made up for the bad time we had camping when we decided to do a hotel instead. This was the best!

Review 9:Nothing.

Review 10:Booked at last minute. During check in we extended the stay by another night. Nothing was too much trouble. Great lake view from the lake view room. Parking was on site. Location was fantastic.

Review 11:The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough to help us and make us feel welcome and they are really knowledgeable of the area. The pool and outside areas were great and the rooms were really clean. Overall, great value for money and an amazing holiday!

Review 12:The location is excellent, right on the lake (across the road). The ferry stop is nearby and there is a wonderful park with access to the lake. We had a lake view room with a balcony, which was definitely worth the extra money. The pool is great for cooling off. The staff are friendly and helpful - giving us suggestions of where to go and making restaurant reservations for us. Their Aperol Spiritz is the best in Tremezzo!

Review 13:A lovely hotel,in a great location, made better by the professionalism and friendliness of staff. Beautiful views and balcony overlooking the lake. The hotel's restaurant is a bonus for the end of busy days. There's also a wonderful restaurant, Antica Trattoria del Risorgimento, very close by. Just follow the brown and white signs and don't give up when you think you're lost. It's seriously worth it and very reasonable for great food. Also a little bar across the road from the 'pub' on the corner - almost next door to the laundromat - where you can have a drink and a chat with the locals for a change of pace. Lots to see walking about the local district including the spot where Mussolini met his end. It's an area well worth checking out, and Hotel Lario is a great base to do it from.

Review 14:The wonderful staff - particularly the reception desk team. They could not have been more helpful - providing useful advice on the locality, ferries, directions etc.

Review 15:The hotel is located on a very busy road. Who prefers peace and quiet should choose a room with mountain views. There is a part of the road to the hotel, about 300 meters where it is dangerous for pedestrians, because there is no sidewalk. Breakfast is not included in the price. Parking is charged € 8 per day

Review 16:The hotel is located above the lake and has a splendid view.Room and bathroom are large and well furnished, has a small terrace. There is underground parking lot. Walking distance to Villa Carlotta and dock ships. I recommend this hotel.

Review 17:Filthy corridor carpeting on the fourth floor in an otherwise spotless hotel, our room and bathroom were beyond spotless....our room was the Attic of the building and you had to go from the fourth floor to gain access to the sole room on the fifth floor....you walked out of the door and immediately had a staircase with stairs turning a corner one inch outside the door...I own rental properties on Lake Cono and Manage LAKE COMO LUXURY RENTALS l....that room is dangerous....an unsuspecting or slightly inebriated guest could have an issue...with that said the room was nice with a tiny bathroom that had a view of the lake as did the bedroom itself...AC worked well, and our only complaint about the room was the wooden beds 90 degree corners that we hit with our shins at least 3 times...easy fix, just use acoustical foam with spray adhesive and wrap the corners, it will give it a modern look.

Review 18:Great Location on main road but set up higher than the road to get some views of the lake....walkable to the downtown of Mezzegra....That means about 10shops,bars, and restaurants....

Review 19:Nothing, it was a lovely place to stay.

Review 20:The staff and service were excellent. Menu was tasty and very good value, as was the wine. Swimming pool and outside terrace were superb, just what was required in 35 degrees.

Review 23:Some traffic noise but not intrusive

Review 24:Friendly hotel with helpful staff, good rooms, and great car parking. Direct access to the Lake for swimming down a small lane directly opposite the hotel.

Review 25:Expensive breakfast. Narrow street without pathways right outside the hotel - although it is not far to nearby facilities one needs to be very careful not to be run over...

Review 26:Beautiful view over the lake. Service minded pleasant staff. Spacious rooms. Nice swimming pool. The a la carte dinner is excellent while today's menu less thrilling but be aware that big tourist groups dominate the restaurant - ask the nice staff for a table outside.

Review 27:The room was perfectly fine, but as always in Italy, there's room for improvement regarding the bathroom. The wifi was not available in our room but only in the lobby and pool area.

Review 28:It was a very nice stay absolutely worth the money. I can definitely recommend the hotel.

Review 29:Not in a village (though not far from them), very narrow road in front of the hotel. But there´s so little they can do about thiese things.

Review 30:Awesome view from the balcony, staff, breakfast, cleanliness, room. Would defenetly go again. Really nice place.

Review 31:Lots of street noise during the day if staying on the "lake view" side of the hotel. Lessened during the nigh time hours.

Review 32:View of lake and surrounding mountains were spectacular. Easy to get to Switzerland if you have a car.

Review 33:- Quite boor breakfast menu - Slow internet - There was only water in the minibar

Review 34:Location. You can walk to Villa Carlotta in Tremezzio and to Villa del Balbianello in Lenno. There are you can find good restaurants in these cities. To start a journey you can find a stations of public transport (boats). If you are tired you can gave a dinner in Hotel's restaurant. Not something special but quite good. Very clean & quite. The landscape you can see in the window is marvellous either on lake or mountains side. Very friendly hostess. Once they took us form restaurant in Lenno by their own car and didn't take money for it.

Review 35:Only downside was the traffic was a little noisy first thing in the morning and the pool, although open was like ice!!

Review 36:The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was near the lake and in walking distance to the Villa Carlotta botanical gardens.

Review 37:We couldn't stay longer

Review 38:Everything - couldn't stop smiling. The views, the rooms, the WIFI (best we had in Italy, really made a difference being able to Skype)

Review 39:No complaints really, was a hard drive on that road, you should book underground parking. mattresses were a bit tough.

Review 40:great location, if you are not driving yourself. The restaurant was nice, staff friendly and the room nice and modern. Breakfast decent

Review 41:The locks. Hair dryer. Pillows.

Review 42:The staff is excellent at providing information and very attentive to our needs. The hotel is super clean. The door locks are a bit odd and difficult to learn, which means it would be tough on criminals too. Breakfast was standard fare and plentiful.

Review 43:The busy road and very few footpaths. We found an Alley way ... if you take a right out of hotel the alley is on your left.... This felt much safer however you will need to use road still at times.

Review 44:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble. We had a lovely room with a balcony and excellent views of Lake Como. We had a very nice stay

Review 45:The water were a problem in our room. Went from freezing to scalding randomly. Staff didn't know what I was talking about. I am not complaining since I only stayed there a day. But I urge the travelers to check their shower when they arrive. =)

Review 46:Everything. Classy, clean and warm. I'd add loving! The staff was perfect. Besides, that's one of the most beautiful places I've seen.

Review 47:The first 150 meters of the walk to the main part of Tremezzo is difficult as there is no pavement and the road is busy. Pleasant walk after 150 meters. The road is well lit at night and less traffic so almost easier at night. Not a problem if you have a car! Probably a bigger issue for me than most as I was attending a wedding where most of the other guests were further up in Tremezzo so I walked it a lot!

Review 48:Comfortable, clean, family run hotel with a really relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff who speak good English. Breakfast was good, typical continental, ask for coffee from the proper coffee machine, not the instant from the self service machine. The coffee is excellent. Swimming pool is a big bonus at a hotel in this price range and not too cold either! Overall a good choice for a comfortable, good value hotel, especially if you have a car.

Review 49:Difficulty to walk outside because in some part of the road there is no place for the pedestrians. We were at the forth floor (under the roof) and it should have better to be at the lower levels.

Review 50:The view on the lake. The garage for the car. The service. The confort of the room. The swimming pool. The location

Review 51:Extremely monotonous breakfast, even for the Italian three stars hotel standards. For our nine-days visit there was no change of linen.

Review 52:The location was ok, the staff was pleasant, the overall organization good.

Review 53:Everything was brilliant

Review 54:wonderful view on the mountains and the lake, big and comfortable room, quiet, excellent staff made us feel as the most important clients, good location-take the greenway on the mountain side instead of the busy road to nearest town and ferry port. Nice pool, good parking slot, excellent value for money

Review 55:A topmadras on the beds would have been nice, as all the springs could be felt. Pilllows too soft, bit then again, it could be just me. Road close, and cars speeding. No real alternative to the hotel restaurant, if you do not want to drive. Terrible coffee!

Review 56:Friendly staff..Easy and safe parking... Enjoyed the 3 course dinner menu, which was fine for 20euros. Nice and cosy atmosphere. Breakfast was okay, except for the coffee; better coffee machines are available at gas stations.

Review 57:The lack of pavement walking from hotel into the village, dangerous at any time of the day.

Review 58:We liked the pool and the parking facilities-very secure to leave luggage in the car.

Review 59:Great view ! The rest Like everywere :)

Review 86:everything is just very nice

Review 87:Staff wasn't very friendly and the quality of the breakfast was really low. The coffee was undrinkable.

Review 88:Location, value for money, clean rooms

Review 89:There were no faults

Review 90:Everything about this hotel down to the location, service, rooms, staff, food.

Review 91:Service , location ,

Review 92:The staff were amazing. We arrived last minute on 31 Dec and they managed to squeeze us in for the delightful New Year's Diner. Very friendly.

Review 93:Be careful crossing the street. No sidewalks and the road is very busy.

Review 94:Very nice small hotel. Pesonnel is friendly and helpful.

Review 95:paying for car parking

Review 105:Parking garage and breakfast.

Review 106:Mattress springs

Review 107:Pool, free wifi, breakfast, clean rooms, balconies, walking distance to restaurants

Review 108:Very poor breakfast.

Review 109:Location, lake view, good rooms.

Review 110:Location,pool,clean

Review 111:We stayed four nights as part of a longer tour around Europe. However it was easily the worst of the nine hotels we used on this trip. The hotel is essentially a bus stop over. We were probably the only ones not part of a coach trip and the staff don't seem interested in those staying more than one night nor in fostering returning clientele. The food is terrible and there is no separate bar area. We even resorted to eating breakfast elsewhere despite having it included in the room rate. The beds are strangely knobbly as though the springs failed some years ago. Very uncomfortable. If there are two coaches staying overnight it is very difficult to get in the garage with anything larger than a Fiat panda and the turning in from the road becomes very dangerous. All in all a hotel to be avoided.

Review 112:For two nights we were joined by our daughter and the hotel was very accommodating in putting an extra bed in our room as they had no spare rooms. There is a good garage for parking cars

Review 113:There was not much I didn't like but having followed your directions I discovered that the bus stop at Collono was wrong and I had to wait 40 minutes for another bus to Mezzegra.

Review 114:The hotel was in a central location which was very convenient for exploring lake Como in each direction. Also I had a beautiful view from the balcony.

Review 115:Breakfast was disappointing. Poor tasking juices, coffee and tea.

Review 116:The location is sensational. Difficult access to negotiate unless you are travelling with a car as there are limited footpaths on the main road in Azzano.

Review 117:Nothing

Review 118:We stayed at Lario Hotel for the second time. Every time we are at Komo lake we will book only this hotel. Everything there is exellent. Our special thanks to Korinna and Nicole who made our stay very comfortable and pleasant.

Review 119:We were off season so couldn't enjoy the swimming pool. So was looking forward to the views from the balcony. At nite though, the light shone right up at the balcony so we couldn't sit outside and really enjoy.

Review 120:I liked the balconies and how nice the woman at reception was. Breakfast and the coffee was really good too.

Review 121:The beds were very hard; it was difficult to use the shower without getting water all over the floor and toilet. Although Tremezzo is within walking distance, there is no footpath for half of this walk and the road is very narrow.

Review 122:The view over Lake Como from our balcony, the friendly and helpful staff, we could eat in at night

Review 123:We loved the location. Within walking distance to the ferries across the lake. The view from our balcony was stunning. Staff very helpful. Good breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Review 124:garage was already booked; we had to park outside but still for free balcony is very small; not worth booking a special room with balcony.

Review 125:location food ladies on the reception internet

Review 126:- close to noisy road (but thats something all hotels suffer from) - weird garage construction: we have a rather long car and ti was hard and difficult to maneuver.

Review 127:Location - close to all relevant spots. Lake view
