Reviews for Hotel Esperia

Review 1:Fantastic view from balcony of the Island of Elba. Room was basic staff a little blasè, nothing to write home about. Building looking tired and dated.

Review 2:Staff is not very friendly, wierd receptionist, she was calling to the room 30 minutes befora check out, that we have to leave room.

Review 3:Nice view from balcony, clean room. Good location. Private beach.

Review 4:Breakfast was a little limited.

Review 5:This hotel was fantastic. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the location was perfect and we really couldn't have asked for more.

Review 6:The breakfasts were very basic compared to other hotels we used in Italy.

Review 7:The location and views were superb. The private beach was a bonus. The staff were helpful and free onsite parking was good. There was a bit of renovation going on but it didn't interfere with our stay.

Review 8:Superb location with views of Elba and the coastline. Sunsets while dining are superb. Nice hotel with good access and easy parking. Highly recommended.

Review 9:I didn't want to leave.

Review 10:We had a wonderful ocean front room with a spectacular view. The sunset was unsurpassed! There's a great breakfast with many options. The staff was very kind and caring.

Review 11:The beds are verry hard, can be depend on roomnumber. We had 46.

Review 12:The quality of de food, and you do not pay to much. The hotelpersonal is verry nice and helps you with everything.

Review 13:The staff is sort of lounging around the area. There was one lovely lady that obviously knows everything. Please don't have a meal there. We ordered the Grilled Fish with a carafe of white wine. The wine was warm. When we asked for cold wine we were told that this was all there was with a shrug of take it or leave it attitude. The table next to us also ordered white wine and we could clearly see that their wine was cold. We asked why and were told that these people had booked a table . . . The grilled fish looked ok on the platter, but was just too horrible to eat and even the french fries were not very good. We also found the rooms overpriced. Make sure you settle your bill the day before your departure or they charge an extra night, huh? What a shame, with just a little more effort this could be a fabulous place.

Review 14:Excellent position with beautiful views, the hotel is 'perched' on the rocks. It has a semi-private beach with comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas, you can't ask for more . . . Breakfast was ok.

Review 15:This hotel is not your plastic American hotel but is individual and has many quirky features. Not least of these is the way you enter from the roof where the cars park. The hotel is built on a cliff with a glass lift that takes you to the various floor levels. If you come to Italy and want an American motel then don't stay here, but if you want to experience real Italy then give it a try. Ideally positioned also for day trips to Elba.

Review 16:A refresh of the hotel in general would be in place. Unfortunately you got the feeling that the common areas haden't been cleaned and refreshed for many years. Also unfortunately there were locals (not staying at the hotel) that thought they owned the hotel beach.

Review 17:The main reason for us chosing this hotel was their beach. After some days inland Tuscany it was nice to get the possibility to swim and sun-bath at their beach.

Review 18:Location is rather far from the town center, it's a problem when without a car. When it was a strong rain the dirty water from the town streets was discharged through a tube just near the hotel making the water a yellow-brown color, but next morning all was ok.

Review 19:The staff is friendly, most of them speak English. Espresso, cappuccino free for breakfast. The room was facing at the sea, and the sea was in 10 steps from the room. Not many guests in high season, quite and calm. Very tasty meals for dinner, esp. fish and seafood

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:We loved the location and authenticity of this hotel. The sea was gorgeous and there are excellent restaurants plus a charming historic center in walking distance.

Review 22:Breakfast closed by 9.10 one morning when it should have been open until 9.30. The restaurant area could be a lot better with little input and the shopping trolley (used to move things around the building) and unused items should be out of main view in the reception areas?

Review 23:Location and panoramic views of Elba, Available car park, Rooms with sea view and balcony and useful fridge/excellent shower, Access to good beach/swim area. Good WiFi when not on the blink? Staff very helpful and understanding.

Review 24:No draught beer Unsmiling owner Dripping air conditioning Breakfast seemingly elaborate but, in reality, very unexciting. Mainly cakes and nothing savoury apart from some cold ham.

Review 25:Spectacular position and views. Excellent room. Helpful receptionist and waitress.

Review 26:Restaurant décor wow!!!

Review 27:Fantastic views and terrace overlooking the sea.Restaurant portion size.

Review 28:We enjoyed our stay, the staff were most helpful.

Review 30:Enjoyed the location

Review 31:There are no comments available for this review

Review 32:Excellent

Review 33:nothing

Review 34:great location, fantastic view, close to many venues

Review 35:A couple of niggerly things, a bit hit and miss if you wanted a drink at the bar and as for ice forget it.

Review 36:The view and the food was excellent

Review 37:The restaurant was poor for the dinner. (The potato came half an hour later than the meat.)

Review 38:Calm beach, nice seaview.

Review 39:Structure not much taken care of. Abandoned areas, as children small playground.

Review 40:Location

Review 41:very good staff, perfect location parking availability, good restaurant.

Review 42:Ristorante mediocre e caro

Review 43:Spiaggia e hotel davvero belli. Staff cortese.

Review 44:Could not figure out the style of the hotel, is it kitch or.....

Review 45:The hotel and the seaside

Review 46:Staff was helpful and service was good even though they did not speak English

Review 47:not much atmosphere, seems a bit old

Review 48:location/view private beach breakfast "architecture"

Review 49:- place; it's a thing that you can't value, it was amazing - view from the room to Elba, sea, sun... :)

Review 50:-Location -Rooms -Private beach -Private parking

Review 51:Quiet in the restaurant and no others very nearby

Review 52:Quirky upside down hotel in the side of a cliff! Good beach area nice settees for a glass of wine

Review 53:No complaints

Review 54:Good breakfast and fresh fruit

Review 55:Plastic flowers, net curtains and clutter distracted from the lovel architecture

Review 56:Loved the location and te views from the private beach were amazing. Really relaxing and peaceful. interesting town of historical interest. 15 mins walk from hotel to town centre and 5mins to marina. Totally non touristy feeling, able to experience local way of life.

Review 57:Nothing. We loved it!

Review 58:Beautiful place on the sea. Loved our room with windows that totally opened, balcony off living room and bedroom. Restaurant fabulous. Beach wonderful. Family and staff there so welcoming!

Review 59:The hotel has phenomenal potential, but needs updated furnishings. The suite was beautiful and the marble bathroom and floors were incredible. The view was priceless, but the sofas, tables, wall décor and bedding detracted from all the good things.

Review 60:After deciding to stay in a city no one had recommended, we chose Piombino. The view and the beach area were fantastic. Little English was spoken, but staff were attentive.

Review 61:We arrived when the weather was terrible and given the hotels location, there was nothing to do indoors nearby. Also the staff both at dinner and breakfast were completely and utterly disinterested in serving people and gave off the impression that had better things to do.

Review 62:Rooms clean and tidy. Good view. If the weather is nice, the private beach would be awesome.

Review 63:Parking is always fully overloaded If you are a hotel visitor you can use only very limited area of the beach (also always busy) Never come again!

Review 64:Nice view to Elba from breakfast area

Review 65:Room smelled like really bad aftershave/cologne. Morning/daytime reception woman was not very friendly. Private beach is not really private, since they sell chairs to other people not staying at the hotel.

Review 66:Nice view of the sea from the balcony. Evening/night time receptionist was very nice and helpful as was the breakfast attendant.

Review 67:The breakfast was not very good stale bread Dinner was outstanding

Review 68:I loved our ocean view room # 44 with a full balcony beautiful quiete and very clean

Review 69:Piombino itself wasn't that much of an attraction, tourist wise. We also stayed in Porto Venere. When comparing the two, Piombino fails short by a large margin.

Review 70:We had a room facing the ocean with a stunning view. That's what this hotel's all about: the view is truly spectacular. The breakfast was simple, but sufficient with nice fresh coffee. Another tip: go check out Baratti Beach at sunset: beautiful!

Review 71:outside a little bit run down ... also in the coast area at which I expected a nicer beach. No sand.

Review 72:Good capuccino, clean big rooms, very nice view, very nice and helpful staff,

Review 73:Location - fantastic, few steps from the sea. Hotel staff exceptionally efficient and friendly. If you have a car - so many nice, exciting small towns to visit around.

Review 74:can't think of anything we didn't like.

Review 75:location and sea views were a delight. interior design was welcoming, relaxing and colourful. food was delicious.

Review 76:Decor little dated...

Review 77:Night staff upon arrival were attentive and hospitable. Opening room shutters onto terrazzo and letting in sound of sea was sublime. Early morning view of Isola d'Elba over Tyrrhenian Sea was fantastic. Great solution for 12 hours after international travel and before catching ferry...

Review 78:Nothing.

Review 79:Location by the sea, large clean rooms, friendly helpful staff.

Review 80:Starting to look a bit run down

Review 81:We had a sea view room which was great. The shower was fantastic.

Review 82:Unfriendly staff Cheap furnitures Far from the port for Elba island

Review 83:View over the sea

Review 84:The ocean frontage was ideal for us. The views were amazing. The restaurant provided value for money meal.

Review 85:We loved the view of the sea. Resturant had great food and was great value.

Review 86:Dark hallways

Review 87:Beautiful view, decent furniture

Review 88:Not all of the staff speaks english.

Review 89:Staff - very friendly, helpful. Location- beautiful seaviews! Simply the best before heading to Elba.

Review 90:Small, dark room

Review 91:Beautiful seaside view.

Review 92:Everything was nice. We had a room with a big terrace.

Review 93:Too short staying to say it.

Review 94:Location, landscape, architecture with access from a road-level terrace and 4 storeys down to the beach, cuisine.
