Reviews for Hotel Forum
Review 1:The rooms we stayed in didn't have a full size mirror! The breakfast was poor with no proper bread.
Review 2:The hotel is well located for visiting the region.
Review 3:Old weary beds and old/ weary shower in bath room. Pillows are too firm. No coffee machine in the room for a cup of coffee or tea. Not realy spacy rooms. Rooms need an update.
Review 4:Nice accomodation, nicely located in the centre of the city, Balkony in the room is fine, just as the view and the combination of screens and the windows.
Review 5:Went to the restaurant sat for 5 minutes and no staff in restaurant but could hear them talking somewhere, maybe the kitchen. Check in staff very good, rest average at best.
Review 6:Location and facilities
Review 7:It's not that I didn't like it, however, the hotel restaurant has a limited menu. The food was very nice.
Review 8:Located within 50m to one of the Pompeii excavation entrances. Garden and buildings well kept. Friendly staff. Well equipped bed room and bathroom.
Review 9:The beds were hard, the shower a little dated, and the walls very thin, but I think that goes with the character of the building.
Review 10:Friendly staff, excellent location, beautiful garden even in the winter! Clean rooms, a great base for a weekend break .
Review 11:The staff on the desk in the morning when we left were very cold and not particularly helpful or friendly.
Review 12:The garden outside - nice and relaxing and having a table and chairs outside our room - made for a very romantic evening for us.
Review 13:The hotel forum was a great and we were lucky enough to be up graded into a suite at the front of the hotel with magnificent views of Vesuvius. Our room was spacious and grand which included a free safe, mini fridge, extra double glazing to block out traffic noise, slippers and a bath robe. The bed was massive and very comfy. The bathroom had a window which overlooked the lemon tree garden. The hotel was on different levels and was quite quirky, you could enjoy the sun on various sun terraces. In the evening in the reception they laid out a few nibbles which was a nice touch. Reception was helpful enough and answered our queries. The out door space of the hotel has lots of lemon trees, shrubs and bushes. It looked very pretty at night when the lights were lit. The breakfast room was cosy although the breakfast was average there was enough choice to keep you going. The location was great just across the road was one of the entrances to Pompeii and modern day Pompeii square was down the road close enough for food and drink. Also there was a magnificent cathedral and bell tower.
Review 14:The location opposite the relatively quiet amphitheatre entrance to the Pompeii ruins is perfect. Not far from the Circumvesuviana station to get to other locations around the Bay of Naples
Review 15:Eating outside in the Garden Restaurant was disappointing.
Review 16:A lovely hotel perfectly positioned to visit the Pompeii Ruins with a beautiful garden full of lemon trees. Our first night we had a very uncomfortable bed but after mentioning to reception we were upgraded to a beautiful refurbished room for our second night. Nice breakfast but wouldn't recommend eating in the garden restaurant in the evening as the restaurant just across the road and a few doors down to the right is a real gem and a much better, bigger choice of food. There is also a wonderful geletaria just opposite! Parking is plentiful, free and just across the road in a 24 hour car park. Would definitely use again but would request a refurbished room!
Review 17:The staff were very nice and helpful. They gave us suggestions to local nearby restaurants which were lovely. The room was lovely and spacious and quiet - for being on the main road. We were close to two circumsuviana train stations, right opposite the Pompeii ruins (worth it!) and near the bus stop for visiting Mount Vesuvius! Would definitely go back again!
Review 18:The showers were very small. Rooms 24 and 25.
Review 19:Lovely location near the ruins at Pompeii. Quiet and set back from the road. The reception staff were excellent and very helpful. Our rooms were a bit basic, but I think for a little more some of the rooms with balconies were more luxurious and larger.
Review 20:Our room had a dreadful view. Room service was poor/inconsistent. Sat in the restaurant area for fully 20 minutes first evening and nobody came to serve us, so we left. Breakfasts had one waitress who was rushed off her feet, and many items were empty needing refilled as a consequence.
Review 21:Location was excellent - across the road from Pompeii entrance to the ruins. Many nice restaurants close by. Hotel was clean. Free car park across the road from the hotel.
Review 22:None
Review 23:An excellent hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. Next time I visit the Bay of Naples area I will base myself at this hotel from where I would make my trips. Good breakfast and restaurant. Perfect for a visit to Old Pompei
Review 24:The grounds, breakfast, and staff of this hotel were all wonderful; we loved it! The staff really went out of their way to help with reservations and print outs, and the hotel overall was beautiful and well kept. Such a pleasure to stay there!!
Review 25:Nothing.
Review 26:Everything from the entrance into the hotel on the day of arrival till the minute we left we could not fault anything. Staff were excellent, bedroom excellent, food excellent, location excellent 10/10
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:The room was fabulous! Very very modern & comfortable! I would defiantly tell others about the hotel! The location was perfect for us! The staff was always helpful & friendly!
Review 29:The girlfriend now wants the house decorating with things she saw in the hotel... Looking around... It's not going to be cheap for me
Review 30:Stayed 2 nights here during a tour of Italy. The hotel has been/is being refurbished (I don't know if there are any rooms still requiring the refurb) but our room was stunning, as were the public areas of the hotel. The garden area to the rear is also beautifully designed, the first night we relaxed there just for a few drinks. The second we had our evening meal there, this was by far the best meal we had during our Italian trip. Any other venues we tried for food and drink in Pompeii were extremely disappointing, this hotel really was fantastic.
Review 31:We absolutely loved staying here, we got upgraded when we arrived and made a last minute booking. We were welcomed with friendly smiles and the garden bar was amazing after a long journey! The room was exceptional and we can't recommend this place enough.
Review 32:Waitress service non-existent in outside area. Had to ask at reception every time we wanted to order something.
Review 33:Every evening there was an array of free nibbles to enjoy with a drink in the bar area.
Review 34:The hotel is in a great location for the ruins, lovely little garden to sit and enjoy a bite to eat and a glass of wine. Friendly management and desk staff, very clean and comfortable room with air conditioning
Review 35:Bathrooms need renovation.
Review 36:Forum is like an old friend to us. Very pleasant and well located. Probably the most beatiful garden of the region. We look forward to come again.
Review 37:Nothing bad really but you need to ignore some of the unprepossesing surroundings.
Review 38:Very convenient for the Pompei ruins & for the town & Circumvesuviana station. Parking just over the road. Good wifi connection. Decent food & breakfast.
Review 39:we reserved 4 rooms, one of which had to be changed quickly due to a failed A/C unit in 38C+ heat.
Review 40:Staff outstanding, one problem was corrected immediately and with no fuss!
Review 41:Pompeii town itself doesn't have much to interest tourists.
Review 42:Great location just a few minutes walk from the entrance to Pompeii ruins. The hotel restaurant has good value food so there's not much reason to leave the hotel.
Review 43:Excellent size of room for the price and the ruins of Pompeii are almost opposite the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Only downside was the air conditioning was not very effective.
Review 44:Our room was obviously an old one as it was extremely dated. Quite awful actually. We saw the staff cleaning one of the newer rooms which looked very nice.
Review 45:So close to Pompeii. Beautiful gardens.
Review 46:Our rooms were very dated, although they have refurbished a lot of them - sadly we were given two of the older ones. The service in the garden is very poor, you have to always go and find someone to serve you - you would sell a lot more drinks!
Review 47:The location of the hotel, and the peaceful gardens in the evening Nice touch of a free poster of Pompeii when you leave - Thank you
Review 48:The city of Pompeii is a dump and it's sad that it derives so little from the site.
Review 49:To visit the excavations of Pompeii, this hotel is the perfect location - right across the street, so you can be there at opening time, when it's coolest (there's almost no shade in Pompeii.)
Review 50:the only downside is the food, we ate at the restaurant one night and were disappointed with the quality of the food and breakfast also was limited and not the best but we weren't really there for the food, the hotel itself and staff were great.
Review 51:The location is ideal for visiting Pompei, across the road from one of the entrances and slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the station yet close enough for us to walk without need of cars.
Review 52:nothing i did not like about the area
Review 53:if you have a car the parking is free 20 mitre from the hotel. pompeii entrance is 30 mitre from the hotel door you cannot get better, this hotel was a hidden gem in the heart of pompeii loved this place, we will definitely go back.
Review 54:The food was a little hit and miss and we felt the restaurant could have really maximised on its charming garden and offered far more variety of menu. We ate there 3 times and each time the menu was the same both lunch and dinner with only about 6 choices, 1 appetiser and 1 dessert on offer. If you offer evening meals and lunch do it properly or not at all with English speaking staff who can advise and help, there were some communication problems and not just with us but also other guests. Make it a destination and people from other hotels would eat there too and create a better atmosphere rather than relying on piped music, albeit very soothing, easy listening English music. It could so easily be perfect with just bit more effort. Aircon didn't work very efficiently - seems to be blowing out air but room was always warm and stuffy at night where as the reception as like a fridge.
Review 55:location - just outside one of the entrances to Pompeii is perfect. the lovely courtyard garden, beautifully lit and well kept the bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable though space a bit tight around the bed and luggage rack would be useful. Good breakfast, lovely fresh cakes and eggs and fresh fruit salad. Welcome snacks were offered but we were not told about them till we asked?? Lovely free posters of Pompeii given as a parting gift. Nice touch.
Review 56:nothing
Review 57:The garden at night was definitely a very nice surprise even if we read good critics about it. It was nicer than expected and the food was really good as well as the lounge music in the background. It was really romantic.. no need to look for other restaurants in Pompei (we ate at Garum which was excellent but the atmosphere was nicer at the Forum hotel Restaurant). Marika the person at the reception was Outstanding...and spoke a perfect English...gave us all the info we needed and because of her, we felt really welcome in the hotel. The room was nice and clean but needed a little bit of update. We understand that the rooms are under renovation and not all of them have been yet completed.
Review 58:My husband says the coffee at breakfast was not pleasant but if you ask you can have a cappuccino which hen liked. Do note there are three train station in pompei which we did not realise until we used the wrong station and ended up on the wrong train and and had to walk quite a way. Haha
Review 59:Ideal location opposite the back entrance which had no que. We loved the early evening appetisers which we ate in the superb garden, it's like. Little haven away from the hustle an bustle. Bedroom was fab with great mountain views, which when we stayed had a fabulous firework display over them. Beds were comfy, room spacious and bathroom has everything you need.
Review 60:The hotel promotes itself as 4 star but the room is 2.5 to 3 star at best. Given a room with a tiny shower when I asked for a bathtub 4 months ahead of time.
Review 61:We loved the beautiful garden with relaxing music piped in. The location was directly across the street from the Pompeii Archeological Site.
Review 62:Beautiful Hotel with spacious room and balcony overlooking mountains. Lovely attentive staff. A fabulous garden with lemon trees, candles and lights in the evenings very romantic and relaxing after a visit to Pompeii.
Review 63:opposite the ruins, the location is perfect for Pompeii. The hotel has a lovely garden growing lemons and the staff were so helpful providing bus and train times etc..
Review 64:the front desk was ok - did not go out of their way to be especially friendly.
Review 65:literally right next to the second entrance to the pompei ruins - near the amphitheatre. location is unbeatable. room was comofortable and clean. their garden is lovely to sit in, with lemon trees and herbs.
Review 66:Sometimes the Internet speed was too slow.
Review 67:Convenient location, only at 5 min from train station. Great service with a renovated hotel, and managed by a friendly staff. We were surprised with complementary food and drinks after our "expedition" to the old Pompeii.
Review 68:No complaints
Review 69:Location is perfect overlooking ruins the room was super clean and the standard of a 4-5 star hotel. The value was great and the staff was exceptional! Thank you
Review 70:Nothing to dislike at all.
Review 71:The staff - helpful& friendly. The owner who intoduced himself as "the gardener" was charming. Location, gardens. First class and very well run hotel. Absolute value for money.
Review 72:Magnificent Oasis of a Hotel, great location for visiting ruins ,near train terminals, very comfortable, sun roof, cool gardens, and topped of by most friendly and helpful staff.Magnifico!
Review 73:Room was a bit on the small side and decoration was simple
Review 74:Location just in front of the entrance to the archeological area. Good breakfast buffet, nice garden with lemon and orange tree. They have a deal with the parking just in front of the hotel, so it is free for hotel guests.
Review 75:Close to the quiet eastern entrance to the ruins but a good 15 minute walk from the Scavi train station. In Naples the train that said it's stops at Pompeii Sancturio didn't! But could always get a taxi from Scavi - prices in Pompeii seem v reasonable.
Review 76:Outside space was incredible and a compete surprise! Some of the best food we ate in our whole 2 week stay too! We booked the economy room for 1 night to see Pompeii on our way to the Amalfi Coast and wasn't expecting much from a hotel that we'd booked for 80 euros a night BUT it was beautiful - yes the economy room isn't 5 star but it has a terrace and is very comfortable! The hotel itself was a really happy surprise, we would highly recommend anyone to stay here for the food and the beautiful quiet garden space all lit up at night. After a hectic day exploring Pompeii it was bliss!
Review 77:Breakfast staff could communicate better and advise us of what was available re coffee's etc. that part was vague.
Review 78:Close to site, close to town , close to train to Naples . Great room.
Review 79:Just a little tricky to find as does not have big frontage
Review 80:Suberb location, fabulous luxurious and spacious rooms v quiet even though on main street. Breakfast the best we have ever had. Beautifully maintained with loads of character it even has a sunbathing terrace. Staff were delightful and safe parking directly opposite
Review 81:One of our rooms on the 1st floor was quite cold, the other on the 2nd floor was too hot. Our rooms were fine, but fairly basic, I would go for one of the pricier rooms next time. Eating out locally is a bit hit and miss, but try Stuzzico by Lucius - just along from Hotel Forum. Perfect for lunch.
Review 82:The staff were so helpful, perfect location for the Pompeii ruins. And a 10/15 minute walk from the train to Naples, Herculaneum and Sorrento. There are lots of trains and they are cheap. Food at the Hotel Forum is not cheap, but they do the best melanzane parmigiana and fruit platter. Wifi is good.
Review 83:Nothing could be better.
Review 84:24h reception, all staff exceedingly helpful, assisting with day planning, helping to retrieve the delayed luggage from the airline, tips for restaurants, etc. Very comfortable room, good bathroom, all very clean. The location is truly excellent to visit the area, you are very close to virtually all the attractions. Free parking on top!
Review 85:Great location to the ruins and Pompei town. Lovely hotel and staff very helpful. Hotel felt warm and clean and had a lovely terrace surrounded by lemon trees. Would recommend to anyone travelling to the area.
Review 86:Staff were friendly and helpful. I was travelling with my two daughters and our three-bed room was excellent value for money. I would certainly go back there or recommend to a friend
Review 87:one of the two rooms was a bit small - nowhere to store the suitcases -so a bit cramped. However the standard of the accommodation and bedding more than mde up for this!
Review 88:staff were very friendly and helpful, outside garden area was very comfortable - an oasis of calm in a theatre of tourism!! It is just opposite the amphitheatre entrance
Review 89:Reception and bar a little tired
Review 90:Proximity to ruins and central location free nearby parking. Lovely rooms though reception area/bar a little tired complimentary nibbles and snacks during early evening. Lovely gardens
Review 91:We thought the room would have a nice view but it didn't (we asked for a change but the non-deluxe rooms in upper floors didn't have a nice view either). The receptionists were not very helpful (each time we asked them questions to prepare our tourist plans they didn't care that much). Finally, we tried to have a bath in the bath tub but the water was leaking through the plug hole (considering all the money we paid this shouldn't happen).
Review 92:Location, location, location (literally just a few meters away from one of the main entrances to the ruins attraction). The bed was super comfortable, and the breakfast was also very nice. Decent wifi.
Review 93:The tub shower enclosure was a little tricky getting into and out of, but seems the norm for European hotels.
Review 94:The Hotel is much more than meets the eye. The room was spacious and well appointed, clean and comfortable. The breakfast and service was excellent. We dined in the hotel restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the cuisine. The hotel is convenient to the exit of the Pompeii ruins (but you can enter there.) The staff pointed us to the train station were we went to Herculaneum for 3.80 € round trip.
Review 95:There was a strange thumping noise from somewhere on the first night which reception were unable to explain. Breakfast selection could be more extensive for a 4 star.
Review 96:Free Car Parking include very close by. Superb location for visiting Pompeii. Very comfortable. Nice view of Vesuvius from balcony.
Review 97:Front Desk Clerk, most specifically the man, is not approachable. He makes you feel like you're bothering him. The room they provided us is unappealing, noisy (although we paid extra for soundproofing), small balcony. Breakfast very limited.
Review 98:Great location for visiting Pompeii. Entrance to Pompeii is right across the street. Free parking.
Review 99:There is not much to recommend Pompeii other than the Ruins.
Review 100:We visited with our 19 year old son with specific purpose of visiting the Ruins. This neat little place is great for this purpose.
Review 101:Nothing that worth mentioning.
Review 102:Friendly and helpful people at front desk. Nice and very clean room. A backyard nicely prepared for a drink at sunset. And the most important, across the street to Pompeii ruins.
Review 103:The location was key. Across the street from Pompeii ruins. 2 blocks from Pompeii main square. Internet was good. Room for the money was decent. Breakfast was outstanding, above expectations.
Review 104:Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be appreciated. The light switches were puzzling and it was hard to work out what each one was for.
Review 105:This hotel is perfectly placed for visiting the ruins and is also well located for being in the town with its shops and restaurants. The room was large and comfortable, slippers were provided and the breakfast was plentiful. The staff were helpful and very friendly.
Review 106:Staff were very friendly and their English is okay but not so informed about local amenities eg. bus tours
Review 107:Lovely clean room, good breakfast and basic small meals if you want to eat in in the evening. So wonderful to walk straight into the hotel after a long day of walking around Pompeii.
Review 108:Hotel was great - wasn't thrilled with the surrounding town. Almost lost wallet to pick pockets at sidewalk cafe. Be careful.
Review 109:Great location across the street from back entrance to Pompeii ruins. A nice oasis off the gritty streets of the city. Lovely gardens, nice breakfast, large room & bathroom. Room had beautiful view of Mt. Vesuvius. Perfect place to stay while exploring Pompeii.
Review 110:Had a problem with accessing room safe but hotel staff came and retrieved passports/money.
Review 111:Located opposite ruins in centre of town it would be difficult to find a better located hotel. Helpful staff and good facilities.
Review 112:If you need to stay in Pompei for one or more days look no further. This is not only excellent value for money, but also a very good 4* hotel in all respects. Heartily recommended.
Review 113:Room was quite small, probably worth paying for upgrade
Review 114:Excellent location for the Pompeii site - opposite the entrance to the amphitheater.Courtyard very relaxing after a busy day at the ruins. Having dinner at the hotel was a big plus to save looking elsewhere. Tourist info office approx 100 yds away where we bought tickets for a small group tour to the rim of Vesuvius.
Review 115:Having to leave. We booked 2 nights and regretted not booking 5!
Review 116:Lovely modern room. Superb bathroom. Amazing pillows! Bar comfortable and reasonably priced. Excellent service. Breakfast (hot) should have been different from day before but, even so, good quality and plenty of choice. Coffee fab!
Review 117:Mosquitos!! Beware - and protect yourself with spray when out and about.
Review 118:Bed was really comfy. Rooms had air conditioning. Staff were friendly. Food was great. Excellent value for money. Perfect location for visiting ruins and surrounding area. In walking distance of train station. Fantastic place across the road for pastries, gelato & drinks! Great restaurants in town, again within walking distance. Would recommend to anyone. Will be visiting again.
Review 119:Request to not have a room facing the street if you are staying Saturdayand/or Sunday nights....they party till all hour of the morning, driving up & down the street, honking horns, loud music and visitingin the street cafes.
Review 120:Great view of Mt. Vesuvius but.......
Review 121:The parking was a bit hard to figure out until we temp parked and asked at reception, then no problem.
Review 122:The hotel was a pleasant surprise. The quality was high, the extra bed we asked for was ready when we arrived, the staff were pleasant and energetic. And we entered Pompeii (thru the back entrance) in 5 minutes from the hotel.
Review 123:This hotel is located right by the entrance at the far end of the excavations, perfect for access. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food was good, plenty of restaurants around. We had a junior suite which was very spacious.
Review 124:The food from the restaurant is a bit expensive and variety is limited although it taste good. Breakfast is ok but not brilliant.
Review 125:Location, facilities, staff
Review 126:Seems like the hotels that are close to the entrance just ride on that fact and offer nothing else. (such as a room quality and service that matches their advertising statements ... or price!) Jaded rooms, bored attitude from front desk and restaurant staff. Football field with screaming kids right outside the room (most rooms based on the shape of the building) no soundproofing. Restaurant (go elsewhere.. anywhere) Parking is stated but its off site. Overall, don't stay close to the entrance or even in Pompeii...
Review 127:It was close to the entrance (big deal)
Review 128:We would have liked more choice of hot breakfast food and the lady who served us breakfast on our first morning was not particularly friendly
Review 129:We loved the location, the cleanliness, the very modern bedroom and extremely comfortable bed. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. The staff were mainly excellent with the exception of our first morning breakfast staff who must have been having a bad day.
Review 130:Everything, we could not fault it in any way. The location is perfect, facilities superb, food delightful and the staff so very friendly and helpful. Their advice on taxis, guides etc was invaluable, and we hope that Gennaro's ankle is better!
Review 131:Steps off the busy streets of Pompeii lies the oasis of the Hotel Forum. Beautifully appointed rooms, lobby and dining area. Incredibly peaceful garden to relax in and enjoy a glass of wine. Lovely terraces overlooking Mt. Vesuvius. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Enjoy livley Pompeii and then realx at The Hotel Forum.
Review 132:Nothing to dislike.
Review 133:Everything was great. The staff did all they could for us and the location is fantastic to visit the ruins. We had a car and the car park was just across the road, so very convenient.
