Reviews for Lodge Paine Grande

Review 1:ice cold shower (others were hot and working). Run down.

Review 2:comfortable beds in dorm. Food okay. Only show in town. Great place to hang out with fellow walkers.

Review 3:It was very cold throughout the hostel and showers were not hot, both of which were necessary after a day's hiking in the wind and rain...

Review 4:It was out of the weather...food was pretty good, if served in a canteen

Review 5:Upstairs toilets didn't work

Review 6:Location to French Valley.

Review 7:No water for a couple of hours but the problem was fixed the same night

Review 8:Comfortable bed, good food, friendly staff, spacious common area.

Review 9:Heater Small rooms Food

Review 10:Staff Location Ambience

Review 11:The only minor complaint was of a somewhat unpleasant smell associated with the common bathrooms.

Review 12:We stayed 1 night in this refugio after having completed the W circuit. The facility is relatively new and was clean and appeared to be well looked after. We thought that we had booked 2 beds in a 6 bed dorm and were pleasantly surprised when we were given a private room with only 2 beds (an upper and lower bunk). The refugio has ample lounge space and fires were burning in several of them. The included dinner and breakfast were of good quality and quantity. The bathrooms were clean and the showers adequate.

Review 13:The stupid idea of the staff throwing a party from 1 am through 3 am with loud music invading all rooms. Still no other option, so if you go there bring your earplugs as you should while staying in any shelter.

Review 14:Awesome place, decent buffet (vegan options)

Review 15:Showers need some TLC. Pretty expensive too.

Review 16:We scored our own room. It was a double bunker, but after doing the trek and staying at some 3 x triple decker rooms, we were wrapped.

Review 17:Could be cleaner (especially bathrooms), but this might be unavoidable with so many people staying there every night.

Review 18:We booked a dorm but ended up with a room with only one bunk bed for the two of us. Beds were very comfortable. Food (full board) was okay, but definitely enough after a day of hiking. Great bar for some drinks in the evening!

Review 19:You'd best time your showers better than we did, as never scored hot water for a shower when we returned from a full day's hike when we needed it the most, however others seem to have steam pouring out earlier or later!

Review 20:Brilliant to day walk two 'legs' of the famous 'W' from here. We were pleasantly surprised to find our 'dorm' accommodation was a room with just one bunk with two beds so had it to ourselves, very small but private. We pre-ordered brekky, packed lunch and dinner, and found it to be more than adequate. It's not gourmet but plenty of it to fill you up for a full day's hike. Friendly folk on the front desk etc. Comfy lounge areas dotted around and the staff are happy to light the wood fires for us. Very relaxed happy atmosphere.

Review 21:We liked the small rooms upstairs where one could relax, read or play games away from the masses of people.A bonus if the fire was lit.

Review 22:Food, public rest area, great location right by ferry port

Review 23:bathroom facilities; way-finding inside the building

Review 24:private twin room, big portion for dinner and boxed lunch, location

Review 25:quite high price for a bunk bed option, but fair enough

Review 26:excellent location for the W trek
