Reviews for Hotel Malcesine

Review 1:we did not end up in this hotel as ther was problem with the water burst pipe we were on holiday in germany when you rung about the problem at the hotel we had bad reception on our phone we could not ring you back as the number only made calls out this is something you need to concider when you have the same problem having said all that we still had good time and will concider useing you again

Review 2:Had to pay for Wi-fi and even so there was no wi-fi connection in the room. The rooms were a bit old fashion and the bed not so comfortable The breakfast was average, had everything you need but always the same choices, no variety

Review 3:Perefect location, nice view over the lake, the restaurant was geat plus had a 10% discount for customers.

Review 4:No air conditioning in room made it difficult to sleep on a hot night. Had to pay €7 for Wi-fi access for 3 days which doesn't work in the rooms, only in reception and bar area and decking out at lake.

Review 5:Great location with beautiful view, friendly and helpful staff, reasonable price and decent clean room.

Review 6:When I arrived, I was given a room in the B&B, not in the hotel where I had made my reservation. The room had no normal entry door. We had to go through the terrace of another room to get to my room, and the only entry was through this terrace door. There was no window nor other door in the room. The room was at least 100F inside. I could not sleep with the door open because then anyone could come inside and it would have been unsafe to close myself in that hot of a room. When I explained this to the night reception guy, he first told me there was no other room and that is why they put me in the B & B instead of the hotel. I had to go down 3 times to the night reception guy, who, the second time, claimed only to be the "bar man" and could make no decisions on rooms. Finally, the third time, he called the day-time reception person and they finally changed my room to one in the hotel that had a regular entry door, with a traditional lock, and a small window. It was after midnight before this happened. He also told me there was no WIFI, which was another lie. The second room was old and smelled stale and almost as hot as the first room. The bed was too soft and lumpy. I doubt they had purchased a new mattress for it in years. I had reserved 3 nights in the hotel, but my first night's experience was so horrible, that I checked out the next morning. I have no idea why this hotel has 3-stars, as even a hostel would have been a better, safer and more comfortable choice and the customer service would definitely have been better.

Review 7:The location of this hotel was the ONLY positive thing.

Review 8:I didn't like the price of their hotel shuttle service (120 euros compared to some of the other hotels of 25 euros)

Review 9:The staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel location was ideal

Review 10:great view, great location in a charming town. really enjoyed the food and the view during our supper in the hotel restaurant. Nice design of the room.

Review 11:Understandably Parking expensive. Slightly surpised that internet was not free and available in all the rooms. But otherwise we could not fault anything.

Review 12:Superb room with terrace overlooking Lago di Garda. We booked for 4 nights but regretable on arrival we had to reduce it by one night. No quibble about not charging for the last night, even though we expected to pay for part of it. Excellent breakfast. Good restaurant. Hotel ideally placed for enjoying Malcesne, getting to the restaurants, tourist attractions etc.. The Castello and Museum a must to visit and only 5 Euros. We even had a grandstand seat from our balcony for 2 hour orchestral consert by the hotel, prior to a band fiesta on the Sunday. We will be back.

Review 13:We arrived and were given a hotel room overlooking lake we had asked for a room with a balcony but did not expect to get it. Excellent location. Breakfast v good. Could def recommend.

Review 14:Nothing really - a bit dated but we have stayed in Italy (florence) and it seems to be the decor style over there :)

Review 15:Great location - right in the centre of Malcesine.

Review 16:Air conditioning supplied by two fans which clicked constantly, advised that all fans do this! Breakfast atrocious! Left over desserts served for breakfast. Internet charged per person Rooms furnished with misplaced items from god only knows where: 2kitchen chairs, bureau, wooden cable wheel turned on its side for a table. Had to climb steep stairs to a balcony with double bed....not suitable for anyone who has a fear of heights. Wardrobe tilted so doors constantly opening. I could go on and on but suffice to say I certainly wouldn't recommend and feel aggrieved that I had to pay! They should have paid us to stay there!!!

Review 17:Location

Review 18:Our room was on a split level which was a problem having to keep going up and down stairs, especially in the night.

Review 19:Fantastic as central location for tow centre

Review 20:A/C didn't work

Review 21:Frederico at the front desk was awesome but the wait staff looked like they'd been through a long Summer and lost their enthusiasm for the job.

Review 22:No Cushions on the Terrace Sun Loungers.

Review 23:The Excellent Location, Friendly, Professional and Caring Staff, Hotel Malcesine Menu and Quality of Food (Excellent), Value for Money and Quality of Service.

Review 24:A classic and cosy hotel with an excellent view to the lake Garda. Very pleasant staff, excellent breakfast

Review 25:Excellent location, friendly staff.

Review 26:need updating badly and towels were unacceptable, No air conditioning and sheets were old too

Review 27:location

Review 28:all good

Review 29:No air con

Review 30:Location is fab

Review 31:Right on the lake front.

Review 32:Dated accomodation, but sufficent for our short stay.

Review 33:Excellent location, very friendly & helpful staff. Very clean.

Review 34:Bit noisy but can't have central location and no noise

Review 35:Horrible breakfast, bring your own towel. Wifi only in lobby and at a price.

Review 36:Excellent location

Review 37:Had to change room due to booking issue

Review 38:Considering the town has so many weddings the hotel needs to get an iron. I stayed the night before my wedding and couldn't believe a hotel doesn't have at least 1

Review 39:The hotel. The room was the size of a prison cell, no free wifi and only available in lobby. No aircon, worn room/furniture etc. Payment up front (without having seen the room) Staff was good but they kept having to apologize for things the hotel didn't have and this is usually a bad sign.

Review 40:Malcesine is a beautifull town by the lake. Lots to do and great for a good few days.

Review 41:One girl at the reception was really unhelpful (+very poor English). Almost all the staff was unfriendly. You need to pay at the very beginning (first time I saw that) + you need to pay for the internet in cash. And it's working only at the lobby. You can't bill anything to the room. Our room had 2 levels so it could be really challenge for older people to get to the sleeping area on the 2nd floor. And you have no air in there.

Review 42:Location is nice and the terrace just at the lake.

Review 43:I'm not sure this is a negative. For parking, you are told aboutpublic lots, but you are on your own. But this hotel is on the water ina pedestrian only zone with very narrow streets. I found metered parkingless than 100 meters from the hotel. I had to go pay for the daysparking before 9:00 ~ 8 Eur.

Review 44:An excellent location. Clean pleasant room. Good complete breakfast wasfree with the B&B option. The evening meal on their covered deck (itwas raining) was quite good - lake trout - and reasonable. I found noneof the negative comments I read before booking applied to our stay.

Review 45:Good central location for malcesine close to castle and all shops and cafés and restaurants. Very good value for money. Hotel restaurant food beautiful. Very good value for money. Would stay here again

Review 46:Staff unfriendly, not a warm reception. On our return out one night by daughter and I approach the hotel being very wary of a man we thought was homeless. He turned out to be the receptionist. Grumpy and dirty is an understatement.

Review 47:Location was perfect on the lake and very central for all bars castle cable car. I would recommend this hotel to friends but it does need a little up date and nicer staff.

Review 48:No towels for the sun beds. Neighter in the room or for rent. No terry towels in the room. No aircondition. Poor breakfast, closed already 9.45. Not very friendly personel.

Review 49:The location was excellent, by the sea, in the city.

Review 50:Breakfast wasn't amazing but plenty of it so you won't go hungry.

Review 51:Great location on the lake, stunning views, in the middle of the beautiful town, if you need somewhere to stay for a few days on a bit of a budget this is the right place to book.

Review 52:The wifi is frustrating to use. It should be free. It has very limited coverage (only the lobby, not in guest rooms) and you have to sign in EVERY time you want to use it.

Review 53:Great location on the lake front. Picturesque setting. Like the lakeside deck for taking sun and the restaurant on it for pizza and pasta.

Review 54:When we arrived, the room was not cleaned. This mistake was quickly rectified.

Review 55:Amazing 5* view from the top floor room they give us. Hotel is right in the middle of town.

Review 56:The bus ride was dreadful from the train!! The hotel was hard to find. The room had no ac and since we shared a balcony with several rooms we felt uncomfortable sleeping with the door open. Very hot despite the fan. Breakfast was just ok. Very difficult to get around on this lake so saw very little!!

Review 57:Lovely spot on the lake.

Review 58:Old hotel which has seen better days, decor is dated and furnishings old. No tea/coffee making facilities and room small.

Review 59:Great location, good value for money compared to alternative hotel's in the area. Clean and tidy.

Review 60:No wi-fi, hotel iron, dated en suite, poor breakfast

Review 61:The place and room with Italy scent, breathtakingly beautiful views, comfortable room

Review 62:Decoration a bit dated

Review 63:Great location

Review 64:The block we stayed had to lift to 2nd floor.

Review 65:Near to bus station, jetty and cable car station

Review 66:Restaurants and shops were a few walking distance away.

Review 67:not being able to sign meals and drinks to your room number

Review 68:views

Review 69:Breakfast was a little disappointing

Review 70:Quaint and welcoming hotel. Very clean and great location.

Review 71:Location of hotel is excellent beside lake & in centre of town

Review 72:The room had random furniture crammed in, 4 separate beds in an apparent double room. Not very nice to stay in at all.

Review 73:It was right by the port

Review 74:The staff could have been friendly, rooms quite small and basic for the price

Review 75:The location was excellent

Review 76:The room is too simple and crude.

Review 77:Dinner is excellent and economical.location and view are excellent too.

Review 78:Beds were a little hard but I understand that's obviously personal preference

Review 79:Location was perfect, wonderful views, easy checking in/out.
