Reviews for Hotel Carlton
Review 1:Our non-smoking room had had a few years of smoking in it! Room was basic, but fine, particularly for what we paid.
Review 2:Good location near the station and a short walk to town. Friendly and helpful staff. Good price.
Review 3:start wrong with economy room(unacceptable for a 4 star hotel), but when we got a new rooms at extra cost ....it was nice.
Review 4:cozy rooms, excellent position excellent breakfat
Review 5:We didn't know about the City Tax they have bought in, and would have been easier if we could have paid it with our original booking - but that's nothing to do with the hotel.
Review 6:This is the third time we've stayed at the Hotel Carlton and again it did not disappoint. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, well serviced and of a good size, and the breakfast is plentiful with loads of variety.
Review 7:Many bites on my body found on last day-Bed Bugs ? Room too hot, had to sleep with windows open with consequential external noise.
Review 8:Location close to city centre and Treviso Centrale Station
Review 9:Room was very nice - shower room minute (but served the purpose!).
Review 10:Location is excellent - easy walk to the station and into town. Also very easy to get from the airport - take a bus from just outside the airport (on the main road) and it takes you directly to the station. Town is lovely - really interesting and cheap restaurants. Getting into Venice very easy too 3.30 euros each and trains go every 30 mins. Hotel breakfast excellent and staff very helpful.
Review 11:What a disappointment! The reception smelt like a drain, the air con was stuck on in the room so the window had to be open and it was very noisy outside, the shower/bath leaked, the room safe was broken, there were no staff around at breakfast to explain where things were. So all in all didn't really enjoy the experience.
Review 12:Hard to say anything in particular I'm afraid
Review 13:We were in a comfort double, room number 106 and the shower cubicle was very small. It was a good thing we are not 'big' people. A small thing but never did find the free slippers. LOL Not convinced this a 4 star but a good 2.5 star.
Review 14:The reception lady was very helpful and the beds comfortable. The position was excellent being both close to the station and town.
Review 15:Nothing!
Review 16:The staff are excellent cannot do enough to make your stay an experience, receptionists and breakfast room staff are lovely, we have been to the Carlton a number of times and can recommend without any hesitation!
Review 17:location was great. Close to the station for easy links to Venice, Verona and Padua. The staff (Particularly in the restaurant) were friendly and helpful.
Review 18:This is the trainstation and the airport hotel, in the same time. Having the worst of both worlds. Rundown, shady, apparently was already out of fashion in 1992 - seems to be the best option if you get there in the middle of the night to leave before sunrise. And never come back. Which is what we did.
Review 19:No comfortable chair to sit in i except desk chair. We couldn't get the expresso coffee machine to work.,Would have preferred an electric kettle
Review 20:Perfect location from train station and bus to take us to the airport next day...about a 5 minutes walk. Easy walk also into town and resaurants.
Review 21:loved location as we didn't need to use buses or taxis. Went into Venice twice on the train, 5 mins. to Station . Staff very very helpful , room very quiet and spotless. Will use again . Thank you !
Review 22:Alot of noise from uilding work close by, road cleaners and dustin collection. Had asked for a quiet room!!!
Review 23:Staff mostly friendly and accomodating. breakfast times good and choice good. Very clean. A good position for accessing station and town.
Review 24:TV channel options were limited. Front staff said they only had basic channels and all in Italian language. No English speaking channels. Bed was uncomfortable.
Review 25:Room was freshly painted and clean. Convenient to train station. Breakfast was good.
Review 26:When we arrived there was building works going on which had not been mentioned at any time before arriving and I had booked in July was horrific noise from 7am until 6pm !! That was if the road cleaner didn't wake you at 5am daily we asked for a quiet room and was put directly opposite the building works!! If that's quiet what is noisy !! The reception staff I found abrupt and unhelpful and in future will not recommend to my friends as previously I have done
Review 27:The location of the hotel as I have stayed several times near to the train station for venice
Review 28:Desk staff did not advise us about how to connect to wifi; one of us went downstairs for network name and password, but soon realized that every phone and tablet needed a separate network and password. Took three trips down to front desk before anyone enlightened us! Holes in wall, generally run down. Tacky furniture. However, breakfast good and breakfast room staff friendly and helpful.
Review 29:Parking at reasonable prices close to hotel
Review 30:It's really old hotel. Back to the 70's. Bad smell, only 1 towel. Room was cold and smells bad. It isn't 4 star hotel.
Review 31:Helpful staff, great loacation.
Review 32:Wifi €2/day, not much but irritating. Free internet was via an old but functional PC in the lobby area.
Review 33:The location was excellent for access to buses to the airport and trains for Venice, Padua and the Dolomite region. Just a few minutes walk from the town centre. The staff were very helpful, providing maps, timetables, weather forecasts and printing boarding passes. Plenty of choice at breakfast. The room was surprisingly quiet and we did not hear neighbours despite the hotel being full at one stage. Air con worked.
Review 34:Don't be mislead by the stars. Very old furniture, Smells of cigaret. Consider this hotel only as solution for one night
Review 35:Big room for good price.Great location for the travelers - just next to train station and 5 minutes walk to the center.
Review 36:You would have to specifically go the reception and ask for a password for the WiFi every day.
Review 37:The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. The location was great too for people who com by bus from the airport.
Review 38:the way the waitresses hovered over me whilst i was trying to eat breakfast i felt i was being watched before they pounced to clear tables
Review 39:i liked the reception staff very helpful
Review 40:I wish the room had provided an iron.
Review 41:One night, after a long day of sightseeing in the countryside, we got back to Treviso late, in a rainstorm. We couldn't find anywhere to eat, and we were really hungry, so the bartender made us sandwiches and gave us great ice cream, even though the kitchen was closed. Washed down with a bottle of prosecco, it was a great dinner!
Review 42:The air conditioning was broken (it was impossible to turn off it or increasing the temperature) and the bathroom was really dirty, full of dust and hair.
Review 43:The position, the rich breakfast and the parking for free.
Review 44:The service is poor: Because of cleaning we couldn't use our room in the afternoon. Due to maintanence on the electrical system we had to check out before 8.15 in the morning. There was no refunding or sympathy from the staff. Wifi works poorly.
Review 45:The location is okay. Near to the station and city centre.
Review 46:Local town regulations that apparently prevent having tea making facilities in the room.
Review 47:Helpfulness of staff - especially over lost luggage and advice on local travel options. Location: near rail station, bus station & supermarket.
Review 48:Don't forget to validate your train ticket ! 30 euro penalty / person
Review 49:Good location to visit Venice, 2 min walking to stainstation, 30 min train to Venice, 15 min bus 6 to airport. Bikes for free to visit Treviso and nearby villages along the river was very nice.
Review 50:Nothing.
Review 51:Bedroom & bathroom were spacious, nIcely decorated and spotless . Air conditioning was powerful yet quiet. Breakfast was excellent. Staff on reception were friendly & so helpful
Review 52:Booking.com search criteria was with free parking. This is not factual. The Hotel has no parking at all at this time, was quite a luck to find parking and carry all luggages to the hotel. Breakfast was very limited in choice.
Review 53:Location - short walk to the city, or the railway station to catch train to Venice.
Review 54:Top floor unit air conditioning couldn't cope with heat and beds were hard hard
Review 55:very close to station which was great bonus and easy walk to restaurants in old treviso
Review 56:Room & Reception service were excellent. Wifi in reception was free. Breakfast was good. We have only stayed one night but can easily use this hotel for a longer stay to discover the area.
Review 57:The hotel has very good location if one wants to go to Venice from there. Train station is only couple of minutes walking away, so no taxi or public transport needed (we had 8 pieces of luggage and managed it without any difficulty). If traveling with a plane, then the taxi costs 15 Euros from the airport to the hotel, which is a normal price. The rooms are reconstructed and clean (only the carpet in the room was a little old, but still better than in most of the accommodations in the UK). The bathrooms are equipped both with italian summer towels (estivi) and frote towels. Great! Breakfast served till 11:30am - superb for a long lay in, which we needed after 3 weeks traveling and it is a good breakfast. Enough to choose from, not only sweet breakfast like the Italian custom says. Hotel gives out maps of Venice for free. 2 Euros charge for 24h internet is ok. There is a superb restaurant just 20 minutes walk from the hotel called Kofler and they serve food till 2am (No fastfood! It is a proper restaurant with wide selection of fresh local food, pasta, main courses, delicious pizzas and enormous wine list)!
Review 58:Breakfast is terrible, rooms and decor very outdated, I cannot understand how this hotel could have 4 stars.
Review 59:Location was great, close to station and short walk to great restaurants. Staff very helpful
Review 60:For the price, there was nothing I didn't like
Review 61:Massive room with balcony for an amazing price. Felt like a hotel that hasn't been updated for about 50 years. Staff were good.
Review 62:very reasonably priced hotel in a good location, easy walk from bus and railway station and 5 minute walk to city centre. Good breakfast, hotel is all in all excellent value for money
Review 63:Air conditioning didn't work well, if at all. Room too hot to sleep in and 18 month old baby very upset. Opened windows but flies came in. After several complaints, managed to get a fan for the room. Ants coming out of the walls on day 3.
Review 64:Location was great - 10 mins taxi from Treviso airport, 3 minute walk to train station
Review 65:We just wanted somewhere to stay one night not far from airport at good price - the hotel was good for that. Design was a bit weird, felt like it was leftover from the 70's.
Review 66:Nothing
Review 67:Staff lovely. Clean fresh room. Were able to extend check out time until 2pm free of charge. Breakfast served until 11.30 what more could you want !
Review 68:Their level of security is zero: I was given a key to room 425 but when I opened the door, the room was occupied by somebody else. They apologized and gave me the noisiest room with the worst bed, and next to the elevator.
Review 69:not much to like
Review 70:Refurbishment work currently being undertaken on car park area resulting in some early morning noise - but unfortunately this has to be done.
Review 71:The hotel is ideally situated to access all public transport and within easy walking distance of the main square, shops and bars. The rooms are well-appointed and breakfast was plentiful and varied. Complimentary coffee in the foyer was a welcome touch. Great base for visiting Venice.
Review 72:Nothing to report all good
Review 73:Staff VERY helpful, good sized room with balcony, breakfast continental but everything you need, complimentary Tea/Coffee in reception. Very central yet 4/5 minute walk to rail station. ONLY 3.30euro to Venice
Review 74:Paid wifi , the room I was given it were very warm I had to sleep all night with windows open to much noise. No ar conditioned in winter/spring
Review 75:Location, breakfast, friendly staff
Review 76:The car park is being resurfaced at present which means there is very little available parking.
Review 77:Excellent location for city and railway station, comfortable room, helpful staff.
Review 78:old-fashioned 80s/90s outfit cumbersome WiFi (credentials need to be obtained from the reception in person - did not use) air-con instead of heating (travel in December)
Review 79:large room with a balcony central, convenient but quiet location free tea in the lobby
Review 80:Background noise from trains and cars. And I had asked for a quiet room, the very friendly and concerned staff put me in a room right next to where the excavator started renovating the garden from 7AM.
Review 81:Right next to train station and historical center. Big rooms.
Review 82:Excellent location to the town and railway station, within easy access of Venice on the train. Buses to and from the airport very easy and cheap. The hotel was lovely, and quiet, very helpful staff and good breakfast.
Review 83:Do not ever ask for an early arrival facility or you will be banished to the far corners of the Hotel!! Left out of the Reception to the Lift which carries you up to the second floor, thereafter you walk upstairs to the third floor to the "Rooms for Little People" The Lift smell was atrocious at what ever time of day it is used!! As the room was clearly for small people, the Shower was adequate. However, anyone of normal stature would be unable to carry out the normal ablutions!! The Breakfast was extremely limited in relation to the Fruit Salad! comprising tinned Pears and Apricots daily
Review 84:The staff were courteous and helpful most of the time, with the exception of the young man whom we asked to contact the adjacent Restaurant on Saturday night to check if they had a Table for 2, to which the response was yes!! However, upon arrival at the Restaurant this did not prove to be the case causing extreme embarrassment!!
Review 85:Room (in the old part of the hotel) rather basic and tired - needs redecoration and more attractive furnishings. No safe in room. On the first night lingering smell of cigarette smoke - from the neighbouring balcony. Empty bar - situated in corner of breakfast room.
Review 86:Conveniently situated close to the railway station and centre of an attractive and friendly town - good restaurants and easy access to Venice. Quiet. Really helpful staff. Pleasant public spaces. Very good buffet breakfast. Overall good value from a budget hotel.
Review 87:Limited choice of nearby resturants open in the evening.
Review 88:Very central short walk to train and bus stations. Good wifi in the rooms though you can only use one device at a time it is only a euro a day so two passes would still be reasonable.
Review 89:Shame that the hotel was upgrading its front parking lot and was quite noisy throughout the day - and as a consequence there was no outside seating area. Found it unusual for a 4* hotel not to have a restaurant for evening meals.
Review 90:Good size bedroom, sufficient storage facilities, nice sized bathroom - with bath! Good choice of food at breakfast.
Review 91:The general state of the room and hotel in general. Never a 4 star, might have been 25 years ago. Breakfast very poor fruit of very poor quality as was all else, black fungus around the bath, Took us ages to find our room as no one available to take us.
Review 92:The location is excellent, the lady behind the counter printed off train times for us to Padova
Review 93:The Shower was a nightmare to small for a large person Lack of hot water . Personally I think money needs to be spent as it's showing its Age the patio where we had Tea was Grubby the flags had lost there colour if the Company spent money doing the front up a lick paint it would be a beautiful building. The breakfast was a lot to be desired, scrambled egg ,1lump or 2 terrible .
Review 94:The staff where so friendly &helpful. I loved you could walk A few minutes there was the train station &the bus stop .TREVISO REALLY NEEDS TO GO ON The TOURIST MAP. Fantastic City . 15Euro cab journey from the hotel to Airport . A+++
Review 95:the décor is modern with an "old country" feel; calming after hectic travel, excellent staff, price was right and the breakfast was 1st. class. the hotel is within walking distance of historical sites, shopping and parks.
Review 96:Old hotel, website photos very deceiving. Smelled of damp, could do with a good make over. Star rating needs to be reviewed. Not worth the money. Wall Sockets in room all of bar one did not work.
Review 97:Bathroom did not have a window, and the bath plug (pop up type) was bent and did not fit so had to have showers instead of bath.
Review 98:Nearness to railway for trips into Venice. Shopping on doorstep, lovely old town other side of shopping centre.
Review 99:Room had a nasty smell, old furniture, the tranfer to the airport is more expensive than taking a taxi, 2 euro for wifi/device
Review 100:Very close to the train station - short train ride to venice, its an ok hotel if you don't spend more than a night there
Review 101:There was no easy chair in my bedroom.
Review 102:The location was near the train station so that I could easily catch early morning trains. The hotel was also close to the town. Quietness of hotel. Friendly staff.
Review 103:We liked the fact that we got a taxi direct from the port to the hotel with no hold-ups and when we arrived we were given every courtesy. We considered this hotel ideal for purpose and good value for money.
Review 104:The overbath shower was a bit awkward to clamber in and out of, as you had to step over the toilet to get in and out but we managed fine. Would be difficult for someone with limited mobility though. Otherwise, no adverse comments!
Review 105:The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the railway station, 2 minutes walk from the bus stop to the airport and 5 minutes walk from the centre of the old town - an excellent location and surprisingly quiet too. The room was large, with air con which was welcome in July! Breakfast was fine with plenty of choice. Staff all seemed pleasant. Treviso is a lovely small city with excellent little restaurants and bars. We enjoyed walking along the canals, on the city walls and sipping local prosecco in the squares. Lovely Italian atmosphere. Easy to get the train to Venice and Padua, both obviously well worth visiting. We would certainly stay in this hotel again.
Review 106:The location is perfect, really very close to the station; at short walking distans there are restaurants, bars and shops. The room, which we used was nice, clean and with very big terrace, even better looking than the pictures of the hotel site. Breakfast - not much, but enough, and you can sit outside which is pleasant to start the day. Free parking.
Review 107:Bed was too hard
Review 108:Location is excellent
Review 109:No ground floor bar facility.
Review 110:General friendliness of Staff.
Review 111:Four star hotel should not have economy rooms that looks like an old kitchen and not small good.
Review 112:Frendly staff, Excellent breakfast and location
Review 113:Hotel need remodeling asap
Review 114:Location
Review 115:No lift for 3rd floor. Had to take lift to 2nd floor then stairs to 3rd
Review 116:Nice town Nice location and good friendly staff
Review 117:Good central location, handy for train and bus stations. Staff were helpful and friendly. Free wi fi.
Review 118:Building work right outside bedroom. Windows covered over due to scaffolding.
Review 119:Great location
Review 120:There is no bar but there is plenty in the town
Review 121:It has all the basics & is in an excellent location
Review 122:location
Review 123:Staff on reception aloof and rather unapproachable but staff in other parts of the hotel friendly and helpful
Review 124:Lovely big comfortable room
Review 125:the location, nice walking distance from center and train station
Review 126:THe restaurant in front l'Incontro!
Review 127:too much noise from the road
Review 128:close to the railway station
Review 129:not 4star hotel
Review 130:good price
Review 131:The location, very close to centre and close to train station
Review 132:Hotel is old
