Reviews for Hotel Scala
Review 1:Wifi wasn't very good, location wasn't ideal as we didn't have a car and wanted to visit the centre regularly. Toilet and shower didn't work great but these were all minor issues easily resolved.
Review 2:Room was lovely, beds comfortable. Modern and attractive building and decoration.
Review 3:Wifi connection signal was very weak. Airconditioning temperature can't be regulated from the room its a one system that need to be switched on and off by the hotel personell.
Review 4:Good location, midway between the airport and the city centre. Ideal for a short stay.
Review 5:The minus is that there is no restaurant in the hotell. Only cafeteria is available and breakfast is served. Breakfast was quite modest. Not many warm dishes available for breakfast. Wi-Fi signall was weak on 2nd floor. Air conditioning only centralny controlled from reception. The fridge in the room was broken. TV only with italiana stations. Also some electric lamps were not functioning in the room.
Review 6:Free parking and location near bus stop
Review 7:We had no control over the air conditioning for the room.. it was controlled by staff & we had to constantly ask to have the air conditioning turned on (one of europe's hottest summers); no fan available!
Review 8:found a quaint old fashioned hotel, but with all mod coms, modern bathroom with with shower with body masarging jets to ease tension from traveling. The bed so comfortable. the owner and his wife could not do enough for us. hotel spotlessly clean.
Review 9:The hotel is not 1 km away from the city center and the airport was at 5 km away. There was no transport service offered by the hotel and the taxi cost 20 euros. The day receptionist was not speaking english at all ( the night receptionist was , however) . The bus ticket is 1,3 euro and you can find tickets at the restaurants across the street but it is more expensive if you buy it from the bus
Review 10:The room was nice and clean and it was quiet enough to sleep. The neighbourhood was nice, although very far from the airport
Review 11:Location poor for access to restaurants. Opposite side of Treviso from Ryanair Airport. Taxi at €20 better option than combining Bus #1 with Bus #6 if carrying luggage.
Review 12:Bus stop outside hotel with regular service to City Centre. Tickets cheap when bought in advance.
Review 13:Very noisy outside and windows do not provide complete isolation from the noise. The breakfast available at the hotel is pure, it's better to have a breakfast at the nearest pizzeria (it's close to the hotel).
Review 14:The room was big and clean, nice furniture, staff is friendly and helpful. Really good WiFi. Shuttle to airport costs 15 EUR for two. Good neighborhood.
Review 15:Awful breakfast. Stale coffee in the percolator, and stale bread on theway to off. On a late night return I observed why, they were all justleft out all night in the breakfast room. No ironing facilities forroom. On request was told I had to come down first thing in the morningand borrow the cleaners and iron in the foyer! Old plug sockets so myEuropean plug couldn't work and couldn't charge literally any ofmy electrical equipment. Tatty walls in room. Wouldn't sell a beerto me. To be honest on arrival I called around to find another hotelroom but none available in town. Overall, very disappointing, despite areasonable price.
Review 16:The bed was firm and comfortable.
Review 17:nothing We didn;t like.
Review 18:Every thing
Review 19:Decent breakfast - good cappuccino!
Review 20:The fact that they took the money from the card before we arrived at the hotel.
Review 21:Helpful staff, good selection for breakfast
Review 22:Wifi coverage was poor in the room.
Review 23:A rather busy street.
Review 24:Appropriate
Review 25:Convenient location close to airport
Review 26:IT IS A QUIETE AND CLEAN HOTEL.
Review 27:We were promised a minibus pick-up from the airport, and had it confirmed by email. When we arrived phoned the hotel and told to get on No6 bus outside airport. Went to bus stop and waited, by which time there was torrential rain, and wáter washing over footpaths from passing traffic. We had to go back to the airport and get a taxi. Those buses are not suitcase friendly either, though convenient there is no baggage store and very few seats, so we had to take a taxi to the railway station to continue our journey. Also the hotel restaurant was closed, we were not informed till we got there
Review 28:Nice breakfast in pleasant surroundings Handy for bus stop and supermarket across road. Fortunately some eateries close by too.
Review 29:Nothing specific, one of the staff did not speak English and was not very polite.
Review 30:The price was great and the location is not bad. it is in good neighborhood and it was clean and nice. It is close to Venice and Padua, also Verona and it is not that expensive. Good train connections.
Review 31:road outside can be noisy, but I used ear plugs and slept really well. Was provided with photocopued map of treviso centre, quality could be better to enable it to be of more use. Marking where bus stops are for return and outward journey would be great. Wasnt much I didnt like, thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Review 32:Room location and staff was all fab. Glad I had lovely room, made the trip. Easy access to treviso by bus . Right outside. Timetable provided. Gellateria and pizzeria across tge riad and a bakery. Supermarket next door. Really good location to make a trip to venice easier on a budget.
Review 33:we probably got the worst room in the hotel. Very small. Bathroom needs to be updated. Water was coming out from the floor.
Review 34:there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, so it's easy to reach if you dont have your own car
Review 35:We stayed here because we had arrived late from Frankfurt. The staff was very friendly and the location was close to the bus stop which takes you to the train station.
Review 36:Well I am really disappointed about the receptionist who was a bit unsupportable to cope with. (not all of them ) that was a bit as if he has such comand or else as if he is the owner of the hotel. The way he welcomed us when we arrived was unexpected. He told me to pay for the double booking I made.Consequently I had to pay for the booking I did the first time because I thought it had been cancelled .I wasn't informed that it wasn't cancelled, that's why I booked for the second time.Anyway I had to pay since he was persistent to the point that he spoiled my holiday. However I hope that this won't happen again in the future.
Review 37:The shower was a little bit too small, considering I'm not a tall person.
Review 38:It was relatively easy to get to Venice, with a bus that stops very close to the hotel and then train for half an hour. Pretty good deal!
Review 39:The the bedrooms are a little tired & shabby, decor is stuck ina1970s time warp. The whole place could do with refreshing.Maintenanceis poor with flaking paint and damp patches on bathroom ceiling from aprevious flood, toilet seat was broken and hairdryer overheated and blewa fuse. It's expensive for a hotel that has seen better days.
Review 40:The location of this hotel is very convenient to visit the historicwalled town of Treviso by short bus ride. The hotel building is acharming old italian villa and we have been regular visitors for over 30years. The staff are friendly. We will continue to stay here only becauseof location.
Review 41:Room wasn't to taste and rather dated/worn Hotel on a very main & busy street so there is a lot of noise into the night and early morning.
Review 42:Location to airport Nearby restaurants & ice cream parlour
Review 43:Needs renewal, extra-pay for breakfast, no wifi in room, poor staff's English
Review 44:Breakfast quality, location, big free private parking, supermarket near hotel, nice design, price, nice and friendly staff
Review 45:Some traffic noise during the day,but less at night.
Review 46:The director of the hotel was really welcoming , breakfast is very goodand varied, the rooms are correct.
Review 47:Not a minus in our case, but it should be noted that it does not have a lift, although I think the guest rooms are all on the first two floors.
Review 48:Great location right near bus stop; supermarket, restaurants, cafeteria and shops nearby. Friendly and helpful staff. Loved the fireplace in the lobby. :)
Review 49:The hotel's employee at checking out did not know any foreignlanguage. Thus it was not possible to discuss the question of reblockingmy Visa card.
Review 50:Very close to the Treviso airport
Review 51:Our room was on the side of the road, so it was noisy sometimes duringthe day, but it wasn't disturbing at night.
Review 52:It was near to a supermarket and the bus stop, so we could reach to citycentre within 15-20 minutes. Everybody was really nice, I can suggestyoung couples with low budget to go there.
Review 53:Be advised that the hotel is located out of the historic center. It isnot convenient for travellers on foot and/or public transportation. It is far from train station or any kind of public transportation. Theonly way was to take a taxi to get there. To go to the historic centeron foot, you have to walk at least 25/30 minutes. If you travel bycar, it is a nice hotel to stay in as there is a free private parking. No breakfast included in the room rate.
Review 54:Room was comfortable and clean. Staff was helpful & welcoming.
Review 55:No elevator! (We were quite loaded with luggage as we were traveling with a 9 month old boy and our room was on 2nd floor). WiFi signal non existent in our room. No restaurant. TV in the room is too small, the size of a computer monitor.
Review 56:Clean rooms of good size. Good location. One receptionist was particularly helpful.
Review 57:My bed was a wee bit creaky.
Review 58:The hotel was magnificent. Everything was nice. A definite place to introduce to others. The price could be more affordable though in my opinion.
Review 59:That the telephones didn't work.
Review 60:Its very central and easy to get around. The hotel is also nicely decorated and rooms are spacious and very clean.
Review 61:The international breakfast is ok but nothing special. The staff couldsmile a bit more.
Review 62:Good price and good position for tourists wishing to visit Treviso towncentre and nearby areas: the hotel has a private parking lot and thereis also a bus next to it, with a ride every 15 minutes. Room very clean.
Review 63:no choice of breakfast or any meals on offer no lift no comfortable seating for outside sitting/smoking mold stains on ceiling in bedroom and bathroom mo English tv or dvd choice
Review 64:old fashioned look and feel about it
Review 65:Fantastic hotel, clean, friendly staff, great location . 12 euro taxi to station then 6 euro return to Venice by train, great pizza shop opposite hotel also bakers next to it. Will most certainly stay again at this hotel loved the log fire
Review 66:Treviso, as a point of starting visiting Venice, like 25 km away. Can be choose if you come to Treviso Airport. If you come to Venice airport (marco Polo) you don`t have anything to do/see or come to Treviso ( a small boring town)] Scala Hotel is very far from Center of Treviso, and even far from Airport and Venice. From airport (Treviso one) take taxi (about 18 euro) or Bus no.6 (about 3 euro) to the Treviso Train Station. Then cross the street and take Bus no.1 into direction opposite of airport. Bus no 1 is have a stop exactly infront of Scala Hotel. There are about 6-7 stops from Train station to the Hotel. Buy ticket from any Newspaper Stand (is 1.2 euro) If you buy from driver is double: 2.5 euro. The distance from Centre of Treviso (and also Traion station) is to big to try walking (takes more than 40 minutes). When you go to Venice, take bus 1 from Scala Hotel to train station, and then Train to Venice -to the last station (NOT Venice Mestre). Ticket is 3 euro /one way, and go very fast (like 30 minutes) There is not a direct bus, and take more than 1 hour by bus. Hotel is kind of old, but clean, very noisy (on the side of a very circulated road). Have across the stret a supermarket and a bakery. Rooms clean , but with old furniture, clean sheets and towels, very old bathroom with stained toilet and floors. Very old TV with NO english or other programs, only italian ones. Do not stay on mansarde (3-th floor)
Review 67:The hotel was not necessarily a pedestrian friendly area. Public transportation (readily available outside the hotel) is really the only choice.
Review 68:Breakfast offered many choices and the food was tasty.
Review 69:It was declared that they have Airport Shuttle. When I asked about theshuttle to airport lady at reception told me that she can order a taxifor me which I will pay for.I can not consider that as a Airport Shuttle. Weather was warm but air condition did not functioned in the room.
Review 70:Free Wi-Fi, Nice building
Review 71:The television in our room was broken. No air conditioning No lift - however desk clerk took our cases up two flights of stairs and they were prepared to take them down.
Review 72:Apart from the traffic noise the hotel was quiet. Excellent breakfast Very clean Staff very pleasant and two of them spoke English
Review 73:Location is a bit distanced from the centre of Treviso. There arehowever, buses going to the city centre/railway station and airport.
Review 74:Nice and helpful staff. Furniture and style of a place are a bit old-fashioned, but cosy. Nice trattoria by the corner recommended by thepersonel fulfill high expectations regarding basic Italian food.
Review 75:It smells a little bit like old furniture, but this is because all furniture are restored old furniture in very good shape.
Review 76:Very clean and comfortable. The hotel is an old House very well restored. Rooms fully equiped with good Air conditioning. We were only for the night, but the location is 15 min in bus from the main station, wich i think is good compromise between noise and remoteness.
Review 77:the only thing i can possibly say slightly is there are no english speaking channels on the t.v,
Review 78:everything, the hotel was absolutely brilliant, we couldnt have wished for a more perfect stay, the staff were extremely helpful and curteous, the room was a very high standard for the cost of it and was also airconditioned, i would recomend this hotel to anyone, there is a supermarket literally seconds away, a bus stop outside which takes you into treviso and the local restaurants which are minutes walk away are absolutely brilliant , we stayed here to travel to venice as the first part of our holiday and we couldnt have wished for a more perfect stay, staying at this hotel made our holiday! thankyou very much!!
Review 79:No wifi in the rooms unlike how it is advertised. Male receptionist doesnot speak english. Hotel far away from restaurants, relatives cannotcall in the room because calls cannot be transferred, size of room verysmall, etc. Definately I dont recommend this hotel. Beware......
Review 80:Lack of restaurant a real disappointment as it meant having to go out to find somehwere at the end of a long day. Nearby pizzeria OK, but...need to drive or half hour walk to city for more choice.
Review 81:Very helpful and friendly staff. Pleasant, traditional interior decor and furnishings; very clean and comfortable room with good air conditioning which was needed! Adequate parking and location on edge of town so a good centre for day trips by car.
Review 82:The Hotel needs maintenance in the grounds and some rooms need maintenance such as loose toilet seats and leaking taps. We were disappointed that there wasn't a lift for luggage.
Review 83:The Hotel Scala was a lovely hotel with antique furniture and spacious rooms. Good position to bus stops and walking to shopping. We loved the great pizzeria di Carla across the street.
Review 84:Lack of light bulbs in table side lamp, 1 out of 4 working light bulbsin bathroom. Air conditioning could not be controlled in room, is donecentrally. Breakfast was sparse, coffee terrible. Room cramped.
Review 85:Location
Review 86:Little bit far away from the city (by walk - 20 min, by taxi - 5 min, 12euro, by bus 10 min - 2,5 euro)
Review 87:Nice hotel, very clean and friendly, not far from the airport (20euro by taxi)
Review 88:Staff were indifferent and unhelpful. It is not elegant or tasteful! The gardens are not beautiful and it is not a place for relaxing ordestressing! It is too far out of town if you don't have a car. Thelast bus in the evening leaves town at 8.30 which leaves youdependent on taxis.
Review 89:The hotel had said they had a shuttle bus to the airport but what they actually meant is you can get a taxi, this costs €20. To get the bus to the airport you have to get a bus back to the train station and then get another bus from the train station to the airport so the location is not great... There is nothing much around the hotel either only a restaurant across the road.
Review 90:the rooms need a bit of attention on maintenance.
Review 91:the hotel was clean but could do with an upgrade in the rooms. When we arrived there my wife and i were told we had to stay in separate rooms as the room we were supposed to sleep in had a problem with the shower.
Review 92:The only small issue was the wi-fi reception was not great at the topfloor. It got better as you got nearer ground floor. Other than that, Iwas very happy with my stay.
Review 93:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was a problem to them.I was very happy with my stay.
Review 94:The staff was very friendly. Our room was small but very clean and very cosy. This hotel is located right at the bus line so it was very easy to get on a bus (1.20 euro) and go right to the train station. I will definitely stay there again.
Review 95:I was on a business trip to a company in Treviso, therefore the location of the hotel was proper. I stayed in a single room which was pretty small and with an old and used furniture. The bathroom was generous and clean, the breakfast really ok. The staff was friendly. For tourism purposes, the hotel is far from the mid-town (1/2 hour walking) and the neighborhood not as quiet as expected.
Review 96:Before arriving at the hotel, we were not aware that there was noelevator available. We are an older couple traveling with our 23-year-old son, and the steps up to our third floor room could potentially havepresented problems. Thankfully, they didn't, but this piece ofinformation could be useful to those individuals unable to climb stairs.
Review 97:The renovated mansion exuded Old World charm. The staff was very kindand accommodating, and gave us helpful travel tips.
Review 98:I and my husband liked the family feeling at the hotel, our twin room was nicely finished and the bathroom was quite spacious. The staff was very helpful and courteous indeed, especially Rita who went our of her way to suggest locations to visit and was always there to give a lending hand. Another blonde front desk lady was also remarkably gentle and helped out several times as did the rest. The fact that there's a bus stop right on the corner of the hotel and that its located on a main thouroughfare made it very easy to travel.
Review 99:Stayed at this hotel primarily for the restauaurant as advertised on the website but the restaurant and kitchen were closed for renovation. When I said I no longer wished to stay there as the kitchen was closed they refused to refund my money. The next morning they gave me a free breakfast which was poor due to the closure of facilities.
Review 100:Breakfast is not worth 8 euros and our room was bit noisy since it was on the street side. Our friends stayed in another one and didn't had that problem.
Review 101:Everything was ok, parking in front of the entrance, nice rooms and supermarket beside the hotel. Great for passing by. For us it was a good experience.
Review 102:We didn't have the breakfast as it cost more than we wanted to spend. Wedidn't mind the walk into town, but some people could be put off bythat/bad weather could make that a pain.
Review 103:The hotel is well situated for those visiting Treviso or those arrivingat Treviso airport for Venice. There is a direct connection to the trainstation on the bus from where you can easily (and very cheaply) travelinto Venice. The hotel is about a 30minute walk into town along a longstraight (and thus easy) road - we found the walk to be no problem. There is a bus, but the last one returning to the hotel was before 9, sowas too early for us. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean andcomfortable. The staff were excellent and helped us with the bus andalso directed us to the lovely patisserie across the road. Overall, areally good option for travelling to Venice. Good price, excellentservice. Recommended.
Review 104:The double room although nice and airy, had visible mould on the outside wall around the corner, covered by curtains. We were only staying for one night so didin't mention it. We were also disappointed, as according to the information on the booking website,, We could have had an evening meal at the hotel and had planned to do so that evening, but on enquiring we were told that there was no meal available that night. We were, however, directed to a delightful pizzeria (Pizza di Carla) directly opposite which was brilliant, it was busy and popular with the local Italian residents which says it all, no need to book, excellent food with extensive choices, and inexpensive as well. The last negative point is that the hotel is listed as having easy access to Treviso airport, via local frequent bus service leaving from opposite the hotel every 10 mins or so. On enquiry it seems there is not a direct bus, you would have to get a bus to the train station and then another to the airport. We opted for a taxi at 20 euros as we were a family of 4 and, even though public transport is cheaper than in UK, this was as cheap and easier than getting 2 buses and less hassle,( it was raining when we left). We had a morning flight and needed to be at the airport for 9 am at the latest, so taking a taxi also led to peace of mind about getting there in good time at rush hour.
Review 105:We booked for one night only as the hotel is in a good location for our return to Treviso airport the next day. We booked 2 rooms, a double and a twin, they were facing each other across a large landing, making it easy to supervise our older children in their room. Accommodation looks exactly as shown on website and was clean and comfortable, although it is clearly an older property. The staff speak both Italian and English which was good because this was our first trip to Italy. They were efficient and helpful and able to advise us about local transport etc. Only 3 of us wanted breakfast before travelling and this was no problem. The continental breakfast buffet was adequate and fresh and we could eat as much as we needed.
Review 106:The bus stops early and if you will have to take a taxi or walk after a certain time. walking from the train station takes almost an hour. A taxi ride costs about 11 euros.
Review 107:It was really nice for the price. Treviso is a nice city and not far from the train station so you can visit any city on Italy!
Review 108:The rooms got a bit cool at times.
Review 109:Hotel Scala is a really nice traditional Italian hotel with helpfulstaff. Quite close to the centre of Treviso which is a nice town andonly 20 mins from Venice! Great value.
Review 110:Last bus from Treviso leaves quite early and it is a fair walk back to the hotel if you miss it!!
Review 111:Individual style of rooms, helpful staff who speak good English, excellent breakfast with a very good choice - fruit, yogurts, cereal, cheese, meat, bread and croissants and cake, ease of public transport with bus tickets for sale in the gelateria by the bus stop (although it doesn't sell weekend tickets which are amazing value - got ours from the bus station opposite the train station)
Review 112:Town centre a bit far to walk
Review 113:Building has period charm. Fireplace. Good breakfast
Review 114:too far from center,
Review 115:i like interiors, disign, quiet and calm.
Review 116:20 euros in taxi from airport, then 15 euros to rail station
Review 117:Standard of rooms. Offered two single rooms because there was no twin room available
Review 118:Fireplace and how the hotel looks inside! Amazing.
Review 119:Staff were nice and helpful and breakfast was good
Review 120:Noise by the cars
Review 121:Good appearance
Review 122:Traffic on both sides of the hotel The coffee was awful
Review 123:nice hotel lovely shower
Review 124:Rather removed from the train station, but good bus access into City Centre
Review 125:Friendly staff
Review 126:Good breakfast Warm environment
