Reviews for The Swiss Motel
Review 1:There was a queen mattress on a double bed frame so it hung over on one side - a double bed would have been better. No wifi (or at least I couldn't see a wifi network and wasn't given a password on checkin). No milk with tea/coffee facilities, had to go and ask for some.
Review 2:Good location for Cooma centre
Review 3:Old and tired, no staff on arrival and didn't return calls or email when I tried contacting them. Sheets didn't look like they'd been washed, carpets were dirty, and prior guest's rubbish was left behind. Fridge didn't work very well. No milk in fridge. Older rooms don't have air conditioning. You get what you pay for.
Review 4:Friendly manager, walking distance to town, cheap. Bed was large and reasonably comfortable.
Review 5:After a long day travelling it was so refreshing how nice and friendly the manager was! The room we got was very comfortable and clean and a lot more spacious than expected, I feel like We got such great value for money!
Review 6:This is possibly the worst value for money motel I have had the misfortune to stay in. In fact the whole of the Cooma ,NSW hotel/motels are way overpriced. I would recommend that you find another town to visit. Also Booking .com so called genius price discount is a lie as I could have got the same price if I had just walked in off the street. As well as their photos are misleading as the room nowhere near as nice as the photos depict. I am going to use trevargo in future.
Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:The bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned, the crockery was dirty. We couldn't watch the TV as it kept pixilating and dropping out. The room backed onto a car wash and the east facing bathroom turned into a sauna in the morning.
Review 9:can't say will be staying again. staff were lovely however picture very deceiving, does not show the shopping trolleys, loose tyres and junk out the front. when I opened the room door, very distant odour that stayed on our clothes until we got home. definitely not properly cleaned. dead bugs on the floor, mould in shower. when I pulled back the bed sheets there were clear crusty stains on the sheets that I hope like hell were glue but doubtful!! slept on one of the stained but acceptably clean bath towels on top of the bed to make sure.
Review 10:staff friendly. cheap good location.
Review 11:No broom or dustpan in the unit No extra roll of toilet paper TV a little small Parking area needs an update Area near the entry to the rooms was littered
Review 12:The motel was centrally located, rooms were of a reasonable size.
Review 13:There was a kitchen but it in need of attention. Rusty and scratched pots and pans and lacking in glassware and cutlery etc. Stairwells and hotel surrounds need some lovin'. A little bit of work and the ratings would go up I'm sure.
Review 14:John in the front office is very friendly and helpful. The location is great. The beds are comfortable enough.
Review 15:Noisy neighbors. Event attendees who stayed up until 2am talking outside.
Review 16:Good location. Room was great value. Came for the awesome Snowy Mountains 1000.
Review 17:Checkin was a colourful experience. Trying to INSIST on a double bed three times was not up to progressive 2015 standards.
Review 18:The price was appealing and the room was clean and warm. Recommendations of where to eat were helpful.
Review 19:Shower and floors not clean New areas too some domestis or bleach would go a long way in keeping them nice and the kitchen sink too
Review 20:The friendly manner of John Location and cost very good value
Review 21:Could have been cleaner and property was rundown.
Review 22:Although rooms were very basic, they were very cheep, the location was good, so excellent value for money. We were also upgraded to a better room due to staying there three nights
Review 23:Room wasnt clean properly , used coffee cups with coffee still in them , used soap on shower floor , dead moths on floor , fridge not on , leaking vanity tap ..
Review 24:Cheap , close to town ..
Review 25:Room was obviously recently renovated which is nice but shower head was crooked. Bathroom had spider webs and general cleaning was poor. Beds were very old and worn out in master bedroom especially.
Review 26:Nice friendly staff and good location.
Review 27:Bathroom, especially shower recess dirty, one towel dirty, towel rail coming off wall. Frying pans dirty. Over supply of some crockery and cutlery and inadequate even for 2 people with others. Two control knobs missing on cook top. Exhaust fan over cooktop falling down. Kitchen chairs unstable. Grounds very poorly maintained.
Review 28:Location and size of unit
Review 29:Would rate it as 0 out of 5. The room had stained carpets, mouldy old sheets, mouldy sagging ceiling in the bathroom, exposed wiring at the doorway, no electrical aapliance cords were able to reach plug points and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly. Parking is not garenteed and car park is very small. The room wasn't decent enough to even let your dog live in. The room was so unhealthy that it made my wife ill. We were booked for 3 nights but left early as it was the worst motel room! The website pictures are NOTHING like the actual room. We booked elsewhere in Cooma for the remainder of our trip. Anyone would be better sleeping in their car than staying here.
Review 30:Leaving
Review 31:Was very impressed with the service from John the manager. We were going arrive in town a lot later than expected. He made sure our room was ready... Left the lights on, and the heater so was nice and cosy when we arrived in the wee hours of the night
Review 32:The property was run down and unkempt. I should have walked out when I saw the reception area was filthy and very untidy. Cramped rooms broken furniture
Review 33:Leaving the premises with the knowledge that I won't be coming back
Review 34:The outside lights need to be turned off late at night or a duller bulb in them . We were in room 104 and it was so bright inside that it was hard to sleep.
Review 35:Very basic facilities. Felt like a gaol cell might be about as comfortable. Very cheap I suppose but that's about all you could say positively about it.
Review 36:The lights outside each unit are too bright. The vertical venetians aren't enough to block the light out. There is no table or chair in the room. A microwave would be nice.
Review 37:This hotel was closed, no one in attendance when I arrived, the place seemed very run down and I did not feel comfortable as a solo female traveller. Note on door saying back tomorrow, sorry. Do not book this place, pat a little more.
Review 38:It's a very run down property that has had a recent coat of paint. Definitely seen better days. A hot potch collection of furniture & a tired & dated bedspread.
Review 39:That I was able to find a room in Cooma during a very busy conference period
Review 40:Absolutely filthy Smelt Cigarette butts everywhere Booking was not even on computer Owner wasn't around to check out (had to ring and wasn't on the premises) Gravel carpark No fly screens.
Review 41:Close to shops Hot water
Review 42:Broken glass on floor, not enough plates etc for us,main bed broken and on lean. Food from last guests still in fridge/freezer and Not clean. Compressor outside main bedroom going all night. At checkin attempt to charge more than quoted however quickly fixed once advised
Review 43:Close to town
Review 44:Disappointing - didn't look like photos on listing! Dirty carpet (baby picked up strands of previous guests hair), really old raggy blankets on some beds, lots of random extension cords on floor, unused 'bits & pieces' in cupboard & drawers, blinds didn't quite cover entire window so night lights outside shone in our faces whilst in bed, no table or bench and although there was a kettle, toaster & fridge - no cutlery (hard to butter toast, etc) & absolutely nowhere to make any kind of snack. Building is very run-down.
Review 45:Good location - clean sheets & shower
Review 46:Were told they didn't think we'd show up so they gave the room we'd booked to someone else who arrived earlier! Had a microwave nook so low above the head of the bed not even the pillow fit under it!! Dodgy experience in a small town! Not recommended!
Review 47:My booking was for "Family Connecting Rooms" but when we arrived it was only a single room with a double and 2 singles crammed into the space. Given the lateness of our arrival with two small children, we were too tired to complain. Despite below freezing temperatures, one bed didn't have an electric blanket and one electric blanket didn't work. There were a couple of old oil heaters which typically take an hour or so to heat a room. The room itself was very basic. No cupboards/drawers, reading lights or spare pillows/blankets.
Review 48:The manager was good enough to wait up for us given our 11:30pm arrival.
Review 49:There were stains on the bed sheets, dirty dishes, and the bathroom didnt look like it had been cleaned in months
Review 50:The staff were friendly, and it was in a great location
Review 51:Didn't like that interconnecting family room was connected via shared tiny bathroom. Bathroom in double room was 3 times the size. Electric extension cords everywhere. Backed onto self car wash which was noisy when in use.
Review 52:Conveniently close to shops and restaurants, electric blankets in beds, fridge in room.
Review 53:With a family and being a stop over for families that ski, a dining table with 6 chairs is great, but squishy on a 2 seater lounge isn't. There was room for a bigger lounge, no TV's in the bed, so if you are sore, don't book the 2 bedroom apartment if you want comfort. The shower head in the shower was also broken, we fixed it with some cardboard so it didn't keep sagging. When I raised this with reception they said they knew and had someone coming to fix it. Ummm, that would be nice to know at check in!
Review 54:Convenient location and clean.
Review 55:From the moment we arrived and checked in it was clear this was going tobe a bad experience. The main office had a rancid smell about it. Wewere shown to our 'family room - Room 2 on lower level'. Bed inmain bedroom was a double, not a queen. Another double and a single inbedroom 2 and a single bed in the middle of the small lounge room area.Old furniture and all a bit smelly. The vertical blinds in the livingarea had several slats missing, meaning that anyone could see in fromthe street, particularly after dark. Hot water in the shower almost nonexistent. Lasted a couple of minutes then went. After than only had hotwater intermittently. Kitchen utensils were poor. One wine glass andanother with a huge crack in it. Plates and cutlery were very old. The'family' and only tv in the unit was smaller than an oldcomputer screen. Very disappointing. Outside the door there was a chairadjacent to a garden which was littered with hundreds of cigarettebutts. These weren't cleaned for the duration of our 4 day stay.Overall, this is the worst accommodation I have stayed in anywhere inthe world. At $200 per night. Yes $200 per night I expect much better.Remember, the accommodation is still 1.5 hours from the snow. Iregularly review accommodation on different sites and have neverreviewed anyone like this. I'm actually quite easy to please andscore highly. Booking.com need to seriously consider whether to continueto endorse this motel.
Review 56:Not a bad location. That's about it. Hang on......oh yeah thefridge worked.
Review 57:the room was very cold when we got there... but once we turn the heater on and the electric blanket was fine.
Review 58:Great value for money, cheapest place in Cooma. The rooms are comfortable but don't expect to much. We stayed there 1 night on our way to Perisher.
Review 59:No mixer tap in bathroom basin. Individual hot and cold taps are inconvenient and uncomfortable to use.
Review 60:clean quiet convenient location warm(winter) comfortable bed
Review 61:the apartment door cannot be locked from inside, the utensils are quite rundown, the family room had renovation material left in the cupboard and bedside draws had electrical wire connecters left in it, and some of the staff are quite grumpy as if they got out wrong side of the bed and finally carpark space issues should be sorted out because it is not allocated and anybody can park in your space.
Review 62:the location is great, and the rooms are spacy, cleanliness was average but can be better
Review 63:The kettle was filthy and clearly never been cleaned. We really don't ask for much more than a clean room and clean items, but the kettle has taken the cake... It was black inside.
Review 64:Good location, walking distance to town
Review 65:Located just down the road from Woolworths (for last minute forgotten items), a slightly old building but good, comfortable beds. The four bedroom apartment was good for us as we were able to have a nice family dinner and breakfast.
Review 66:Overcrowded, not well maintained, rooms very small and not arranged well (power cords did not reach outlets), bathroom offered no heating options, extremely noisy, outside lighting remained on all night which filtered through blinds which did not close properly. Extremely disappointed.
Review 67:The price
Review 68:Very basic but fine for mid trip o/nite stay
Review 69:The owner was very good to organize another room when needed Room was warm & electric blankets were great
Review 70:It was in Cooma which is not a great town. Basic hotel but ok for a stopover while driving up to Sydney
Review 71:Location was good Price was reasonable for ski season and it was good we were able to book a single night without surcharge
Review 72:Where do i start. Dirty carpet. Dirty tissues under the bed. No bench or table to make coffee. No where to sit. 1.mug for the 3 of us. Bed covers were old and dirty. Room smelt musty. Stains on carpet.
Review 73:Absolutely nothing.
Review 74:Afraid my husband's sheets had been slept in and we had to ask for more sheets and make up the beds ourselves. I had read this in the reviews but frankly did not believe it. I know you get what you pay for but this is not acceptable.
Review 75:Location within easy walking to go out for dinner. Man at the front desk was pleasant. Cheap price.
Review 76:The fridge only worked spasmotically. There was no microwave or hair dryer. The blanket was too small for the bed which was as hard as a rock.
Review 77:Lovely crisp white sheets.
Review 78:Pillows were terrible but I asked for 2 more and was given them with no problem. The extra ones were fine.
Review 79:Good price and easy location. Man at reception was friendly and helpful.
Review 80:It's old and run-down. Very few facilities: no bed light, no table, no chairs. Bathroom facilities missing or inconveniently placed.
Review 81:The heater worked well.
Review 82:The whole place smelled of cigarette smoke, the kettle had old milk & coffe in it, the bathroom was a condensation nightmare. The beds were way too soft for comfort.
Review 83:Kitchen has knobs missing, very dirty, filthy carpet, balcony lock broken, air-conditioning filter needs a clean, lounge looks like its 30 years old and extremely filthy, broken dining chairs, not enough chairs for everyone to sit on in the four bedroom family apartment, fly screens missing and covered in dust.
Review 84:Close to the shops
Review 85:No cutlery to even make a cup of tea. There was a dirty glass inside the fridge, looked underneath the beds to see if kids had left anything behind, and found empty chip packets as well as a few glasses!! Noisy airconditioner going all night from outside.
Review 86:Heater was on when we arrived, so was nice and warm inside.
Review 87:We went for a short snow trip. This place represents fair value for money in comparison to others. Our unit had an updated kitchen and bathroom, electric blankets and heaters.
Review 88:Late check-in catered for. Quite adequate one night stay (in transit) for 3 adults and 3 children in a 3 bedroom apartment. We didn't use the kitchen.
Review 89:We were greeted by a 'wall' of het as we walked into the room- just what we needed after a day on the slopes. The two single beds had electric blankets, but none on the queen bed. An air conditioner kept us comfy all night.
Review 90:Didn't have a remote for the telly and the shower was not to good the water kept changing temperature
Review 91:It was very nice to stay at the Swiss hotel got what we paid for staff were lovely
Review 92:The room was already warmed up, beds had electric blankets. There were extra blankets but I would have preferred a warmer doona. The electric blanket and heater kept us warm though. Room was clean. Older looking and small room, but everything worked fine. Suited us for an overnight stop.
Review 93:Poorly maintained, sink and shower didnt drain. Bed uncomfortable. Tiny room. Room wasnt cleaned properly - dirty tissues under bed, rubbish in cupboard, used towels left in bathroom
Review 94:It's not glamorous but it's clean and the owner is friendly and helpful. My bed was comfortable. I would've liked a bedside light so you don't have to get out of bed to turn the light off. I would stay there again.
Review 95:We arrived and were informed that we had been downgraded without even being consulted. There were 5 of us packed into a very small room with a double bed and three single beds jammed into the room and taking up nearly all the space. No room for our luggage and a struggle to get to the door or bathroom. The blinds let in lots of light making sleep difficult.
Review 96:Cheap.
Review 97:The room finishes were shabby and old. Maintenance quality was poor. The room layout was dis-functional. No heating in the bathroom. The carpet was dirty. The room was too small. The floor or bed was the only place to unpack luggage.
Review 98:The car was parked directly in front of the room.
Review 99:If you are driving to the snow from Sydney, Swiss Motel in Cooma is great for the first night stop for sure! Half price of Jindabyne accommodation and rooms are much bigger! It is only over an hour drive to Thredbo or Perisher, you could have an early night sleep and be at the snow by 8am! John the manager (I think) is a great host! He will wait for your arrival even at mid night!!! The place is simple, warm with great heater & air conditioning! Highly recommend! Huyen
Review 100:It would perfectly if had wifi service. That's it I need.
Review 101:owner are friendly and kindly. The price is very cheap cause I got one unit four bedroom seven people(actionly can be eleven) just in $249. I really like it.
Review 102:not having a small table and the column heater doesn't provide enough heat to warm the room
Review 103:clean and generous with sleeping arrangement i.e. a double bed and 3 single beds in a room.
Review 104:The pizza from the shop in town
Review 105:Free upgrade to the next size room from the friendly welcoming owner. It was freezing outside, we arrived around 1830hrs and when we walked into our room the AC was already cranked up to 30 deg and we walked into a warm room, that was just the best!
Review 106:Lack of dishes in kitchen,, so no breakfast bowls. Cleaning could be better, but being ski season they would be very busy and rushing through everything.
Review 107:staff very helpful and friendly. good location everything we needed for an overnight stay. Good value for money.
Review 108:Unclean, dirty furnishings, fumbling staff, condemable front office and cleaver-bearing chinese cook should have given it away....the mistake was not to walk away! Do not book.
Review 109:The beds were very soft (too soft) and the bedroom furnishings were quite old. The fridge was not clean inside.
Review 110:The bathroom was very modern and the apartment had good heating. There was ample space for a family of six.
Review 111:I would have liked a bed side light. Toilet didn't flush properly Some mould on ceiling in bathroom - otherwise very clean.
Review 112:Room was nice and warm - good considering it was 2 degrees outside and snowed overnight.
Review 113:The rooms need some tlc. A microwave and a better heating option would help. The beds were not comfortable
Review 114:Staff are lovely and helpful, and it was close to everything.
Review 115:No cleaning daily, No bathroom accessories changed, even bins we have to emptied, Neither cooking range working nor microwave. Oil heater not working.
Review 116:Staff friendly
Review 117:Bed wasn't that comfy but nothing beasts your own bed
Review 118:Nice rooms very new like felt cosy good value for money Owner John was very nice and friendly
Review 119:Excellent location - close to Cooma's main attraction in town. Friendly owner. Clean rooms with plenty of in house amenities. Ideal base for a boys weekend in town.
Review 120:The look of the place ! We were ready to find somewhere else. I was worried staying with my son! Quiet untidy with old furniture, tree cuttings piled up, not the best look.
Review 121:Stayed with my 15 year old son who was working in Cooma for the week ! The appartment was ok it had everything we needed and was warm.
Review 122:There was nothing in particular that u disliked about hotel except one thing which I even did not bother was the sliding door of bathroom that was hanging from top and also it did not have any lock from inside .
Review 123:Rooms , cleanliness , good facility
Review 124:The manager was lovely and very helpful. We arrived much later than anticipated and he had the electric blankets and heater turned on and ready for us - lovely and much needed after a long journey. A nice smiling face in the morning was a bonus!!
Review 125:room was old & Verry Small like a prison...
Review 126:the Bed was comfy & Big & Nice warm heated blankets Good for price only $60! & let my bulldog in the room! :)
Review 127:the carpark is very small and not explained to you when you book that it is first in first served so you can easily miss out on a car park . carpet lifting up into barthroom and when you let them know thewy said that they might not be able to fix it being a weekend (even though I said I would be happy even if it was taped down) . Fold out couch that was our extra bed would not fold back in .and also I mentioned to them that it was not a 700 meter walk from the train station as it said on there web site and there response was that's what google says not them
Review 128:I liked that it was close to the factory outlets and the queen Victorian market
Review 129:The room smelt of damp, very old and in need of a renovation. No extra blanket or pillows. The only bedside table was a vinyl chair with a great hole in the covering, mucus on the back of it. There was food from the previous tenant left in the fridge. The heater was an oil heater that creaked all night and the smoke detector had been removed from the ceiling and put in the cupboard
Review 130:The room had a king size bed!!
