Reviews for Locanda Del Pilone
Review 1:The restaurant serves well prepared dishes, an burst of Michelin Star quality, but does not match the high prices and the breakfast below standard with dry bread all 3 days. The cakes however looked good
Review 2:In the middle of the wine fields with a perfect view over the whole area.
Review 3:- noise from the kitchen ( probably cooker hood) in room no. 6
Review 4:- very nice interior - excellent dinner - location amid beautiful vineyards, but close to Alba
Review 5:It was a bit hard to find. The road was not well marked
Review 6:This place was amazing! The room was spacious and lovely. The bath had fabulous Aqua di Parma soaps and shampoos. We didn't need the Airconditioning but the room was equipped with it, unlike many other European lodgings. Definitely eat in their restaurant. We had the 9 course meal with the wine pairings. The food was spectacular and so beautiful. The courses were tiny so you could eat all 9 courses. Presentation and service was top notch. I'd definitely stay here again.
Review 7:No wifi during our entire stay (technical issue)
Review 8:Amazing location in the middle of the vineyards with amazing views 360 degrees around. The restaurant is amazing, great food, great service, great wines! Well worth the Michelin star. About 5km from the city center and the ride has a lot of hills so a car is handy.
Review 9:Poor quality breakfast for standard of hotel not what we expected at all. Tables in breakfast room too close together. Quality of food was poor, no chopped fresh fruits, homemade preserves or yogurts and very poor selection of meats cheese and bread. Quite different to the wonderful dinner.
Review 10:Beautiful room, with good quality toiletries. Wonderful dinner in restaurant with very attentive staff.
Review 11:The room cleaning service could have been better. One staff member who I think is the manager was not very pleasant. Also the wine tasting is a bit forward it is almost as if that is a requirement of your stay.
Review 12:Nice boutique hotel with a great restaurant and the staff are very helpful.
Review 13:It's a pity that a place like this has no pool, that the breakfast is just normal, and bed are not so comfortable. Fix these 3 things and you deserve 5 starts.
Review 14:Place is nice, restaurant is great, staff is super kind. Location is great and view is breathtaking.
Review 15:Very noisy air conditioner, hard bed poor pillows
Review 16:Fabulous view, room amenities, location. Food the best ever. Staff polite, informative, helpful. With the exceptions noted, one of the great places to stay and eat
Review 17:Beautiful hotel and location with views of the vineyards in all directions. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Dog friendly. Fabulous Michelin stared restaurant.
Review 18:Situated on top of a hill the hotel affords great views over the rolling vineyards. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful (we arrived Sunday afternoon when the kitchen was busy with prepping for dinner, but we received a great selecton of coldcuts and cheeses, different kinds of bread -- and wine, of course, at an extremely reasonable price. The dining room is very nice with windows on both sides (there is, however, one table near the kitchen door which is definitely not to be recommended). Excellent dinner, very attentive, friendly, helpful service!
Review 19:Fourth time at Pilone, the staff has changed, especially the restaurant staff, where I've greatly missed the competence of the previous sommelier. Service is a bit messy and anonymous
Review 20:Location, beautiful and relaxing Rooms and shared areas are very nicely furnished, and give a sense of warmth and elegance
Review 21:The rooms are quite basic, nothing special and a bit cold. We have been here 3 times now due to convenience. The breakfast was not great this time around, they really cut back on what they offer. We would not recommend the restaurant ( even with it's one Michelin star) which the staff pushes a bit too much. There are too many other places nearby which are outstanding.
Review 22:The location is excellent. The staff is friendly.
Review 23:slightly difficult to locate if you do not have the exact address and a good GPS
Review 24:small establishment with excellent restaurant and comfortable rooms superb birds-eye views of vineyards close to Alba
Review 25:Nothing to dislike.
Review 26:The location is beautiful, romantic and breathtaking.the welcome, the feeling of being cared for , as a guest, was very special and unusual( thank you) . All staff perfect and unobtrusive, with great charm. The restaurant is out of this world!! Go. You will be as thrilled as we all were. Thinking of returning at Christmas. THANK YOU
Review 27:Breakfast service is not fitting for such a location. Breakfast was ok. Michelin 1* restaurant is nice and the food is appropiate. The menu prices are ok. The prices for drinks absolutly not. E.g. Apperol Spitz €15,-
Review 28:Big room Clean Top reception service
Review 29:Lack of fresh fruit or even coffee or tea in room.A complementary anything ,even a bottle of water would have been nice.It should be made much clearer at time of booking that the restaurant is closed on a Tuesday as we arrived after a long journey and the last thing we wanted was to have to travel out again to get food when the hotel is quite isolated.
Review 30:Magnificent setting.
Review 31:nothing
Review 32:Dinner was beyond the Michelin 1 star rating it had received. Staff and owner saw to all our needs. Views from hilltop location were breath taking.
Review 33:Great place to stay.
Review 34:Great restaurant and delicious breakfast buffet
Review 35:Dirty glasses were not removed and were not replenished in the room.
Review 36:The hotel staff were fantastic, the food excellent and the views were beautiful.
Review 37:A simple but OK breakfast buffet
Review 38:Location, service level and the restaurant
Review 39:Great restaurant with informal service, innovative food and a comprehensive wine list.
Review 40:The whole place, its setting and we had a meal that was out of this world. Expensive, but a real treat.
Review 41:Being woken up at 7.30 am because of the grape picking
Review 42:Views
Review 43:Nothing. To bad that the restaurant was closed, but the crew/staff recomended some good ones for us.
Review 44:Everything!! Crew, location, the view!
Review 45:Excellent location, the food. Perfect hide-away for a romantic extended weekend. Will go there again!
Review 46:A very elegant property set on a working vineyard, comfortable rooms not flashy but adequate. You have to eat at the Restaurant to experience French quality in Italy
Review 47:My rental car's gps did not work so it was difficult to navigate intowns, which often do not have readily visible or consecutive streetsignage. The hotel staff bent over backwards though to providedirections, including printing out Google instructions.
Review 48:Well-located small luxury hotel with a great restaurant in the countrywith 360 degree views of surrounding wine country and small towns. Only6 rooms, with attentive personal service.
Review 49:Restaurant was closed 2 out of Nights. 5km away from the city ALBA. No bar facilities. Bad outside facilities in the garden.
Review 50:Location and room. Very kind and helpfull staf.
Review 51:No bar for drinks and the outside terrace has uncomfortable chairs
Review 52:Amazing view surrounded by vines as far as the eye can see with the alps in the far distance. Hotel on a high plateau between two valleys. Beautifully appointed rooms. Fantastic food.
Review 53:Ideally it would have been closer to multiple restaurants so we wouldn't have had to drive so far for meals, but the silence was worth it.
Review 54:Wonderful small hotel with 6 rooms and Michelin 1-star restaurant. Service was personal and food was excellent. Breakfast food was exceptional for Italy with delicious proscuitto, cheese, fruit and baked goods. Absolutely silent mornings.
Review 55:The staff at the restaurant is super polite and the prices are good fora Michelin-starred venue, but it is not our type of food (toosophisticated, think foie gras foam). It would have been nice to eatmore often at the hotel restaurant, but this was a minor issue, thereare plenty of options in Alba and around.
Review 56:Our room was very spacious, with a balcony and decorated as if you werein the guest room of a friend's house (old furniture, various bookson the shelves). Comfortable bed, excellent heating (it was freezingoutside!), very clean. The views from Locanda are amazing in a clearday. Very kind and helpful staff.
Review 57:Breakfast is a little bleak.
Review 58:Beautiful setting in the countryside. Dinner in the restaurant is gourmet.
Review 59:The whole experiencia was perfect. Excelent staff and a very high quality and relaxing stay.
Review 60:the fog
Review 61:The scenary
Review 62:It is a bit out of town, but the view compensates for it.
Review 63:Great view. Excellent restaurant. Nice and friendly staff. A good value for the money.
