Reviews for Hotel Dei Templi
Review 1:only down side was being right on what was a pretty busy road - sometimes a little noisy.
Review 2:what a room! or suite of rooms actually... in a traditional house, our accommodation was all brand new and gorgeous! Pity we were only there to see the ruins and only stayed one night.
Review 3:The location is great, although a tad hard to find. The staff are friendly and helpful, but not super knowledgeable about things like where to buy ticket or restaurant hours. They did make some great recommendations - most of this in Ital-English, but perfectly understandable.
Review 4:Without any warning (phone calls or emails are quite easy in 2015) and with no apology, we were told on arrival at 7pm that there was a problem with the toilet in the room and we would have to stay in the rather tired hotel next door. The staff member was barely civil in his attitude and verging on rude. He had a list of rooms in his pad with around 6 out of 12 with an 'OK' by them and others with guest names by them. The truth of the situation, I do not know. I'm sure people have good experiences at this property but be warned that if there is a problem, they are unlikely to be particularly helpful or courteous in how it is handled. A bad situation made ten times worse by the way it was handled.
Review 5:The photographs online suggest a nice clean, modern environment. The location makes visiting the Paestum site very easy. The temples there are extraordinarily good and worth the trip.
Review 6:To get to the beach, you have to drive, otherwise its a walk on the side on the road, no light in the dark.
Review 7:The spacious well equipped rooms, lots of wood and stone, good quality finish. Beautiful wooden cieling. The place is walking distance to the Paestum site.
Review 8:Shower water did not come out continuously fast so took a lot longer to shower!!
Review 9:Close to the ruins. We were on top floor no elevator but did get help carrying luggage up stairs. Breakfast was fine.
Review 10:Nothing bad, but the bed is quite hard. Ask for extra pillows.
Review 11:The location was great - next door to a very good restaurant and easy access to the archeological site. WIFI was decent. The staff is very kind and helpful. They even carried our bags to our room. For the price it is almost unbelievable.
Review 12:Great location very close to the temple. There's a nice restaurant nearby very recommendable for dinner. There's no parking but it's easy and safe to park the car on the road.
Review 13:Perfect location for Paestum's main attractions. within walking distance of restaurants, a 5 minute drive to the beach and a perfect jump off point to go further south into Calabria.
Review 14:We only stayed one night...would have liked to stay for a few more.
Review 15:Great location, very close to the temple site. Staff was very friendly with a wonderful dinner recommendation! They allowed us to leave our bags after we checked out while we explored the temple site and city.
Review 16:I would advise guys to purchase bikes, as the sea is 30 min away, and not less, by walking along a highway with no pedestrian walks. And there wasn't any dry cleaning as well which is also quite a pity.
Review 17:Amazing hotel owners Constantina and Pietro. They are very friendly and fun, and they always were there to help with advice or action. For example, we needed bikes to ride around, and they found 2 at their neighbors. Unfortunately, they gave us bikes only twice, but we stayed in Paesum a week.
Review 18:Location on a road with lots of traffic, which can be heard in the rooms. Parking is in front of the Hotel on this road and unsecure.
Review 19:The owners are great, and the location to the ruins is more than perfect. Have a drink at Bar Anna at sunset overlooking the temples ... perfect ! The coffee for breakfast was a really good start to the day, even though the breakfast is a little on the lite side. If you want to visit the ruins ... stay here.
Review 20:It was difficult to identify from the on-line photograph and actual Hotel sign is difficult to read when driving past.
Review 21:Owners very friendly and helpful. Outside could put you off, but inside is a different world. The location is excellent for visiting the temples. Some good restaurants found within walking distance.
Review 22:The renewal of the property was done with an exquisite taste and style. The staff was helpful and their advices and recommendations made of our stay in Paestum an unexpected highlight in our trip.
Review 23:Some basic necessities missing in the bathroom (towel hooks, paper holder, etc)
Review 24:Nicely renovated historic building Walking distance from Paestum archaeological site Very good restaurant in the adjacent building
Review 25:Our room was beautiful, mostly white with an exposed stone wall, antique furniture, comfy bed and lovely tiled bathroom. The owners were very helpful and recommended an excellent restaurant a few doors away. A huge advantage for us, as we were on public transport, is that Paestum and the hotel are an easy 2km walk from the station. The beach resort is a further 2km walk down a busy road with no pavement!
Review 26:Had some minor issues with the shower due to some maintenance work that was in progress; the staff around reception at the time didn't speak the best English (equally we didn't speak much Italian at all) so was hard to work out what was going on. The manager, Pierro, was very apologetic later on however.
Review 27:The hotel was really close to the temples and had several nearby bars and restaurants. We found it very easy to explore the area from the hotel on foot. The manager, Pierro, is also incredible friendly and welcoming - does a mean cappuccino too!
Review 28:Since we are old and soft, the bed was a tiny bit firm for our liking, but we were so tired, it did not matter. You need to keep the windows closed during the mosquito season, since they are busy and plentiful, but only when you are trying to sleep!
Review 29:we got an upgrade to a suit that was truly spectacular; beautiful, huge ensuite bathroom and a separate large sitting room with 2 tables and a nice big couch! Ceilings had to be 15 feet high!! Very classy and clean.
Review 30:Although the hotel isn't far from the train station it would be difficult to walk there with luggage and there is no taxi or shuttle service. A dirth of decent restaurants.
Review 31:Personable and attentive owner, makes the best cappuccino in Italy. Literally across the road from the temples which are as stunning as the Parthenon and no crowds. We spent an entire day on the grounds and museum.
Review 32:Everything was great!
Review 33:The location was great, in walking distance to the temples. The staff was very friendly and did small extra services for me. The room was simple but clean. I felt safe as a solo women traveller and enjoyed the glass of wine in the evening in their little bar at the reception.
Review 34:Small and poorly equipped room (the were not even beakers in the bathroom...) Very noisy (located on a main transit way) Incompetent staff (the lady of the day/afternoon shift)
Review 35:Close to the temples Friendly staff (the gentleman of the night/morning shift)
Review 36:That we couldn't stay longer.
Review 37:We were greeted by Piermatteo the owner who was warm, friendly and helpful. He made great coffee and let us know about the amazing temples close by. The hotel was beautiful, clean with a beautiful view of fields and a charming building. It was within walking distance of the ruins, museum and places to eat.
Review 38:This hotel is 2 blocks from the entrance to the marvelous ruins of Paestum. Piero is welcoming and kind, very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 39:Not convenient to anything other than ruins. Noisy street with a lot of cars passing by (main thoroughfare). Good room, but not exactly a view of the ruins (none from the suite which was a low floor).
Review 40:Great location near ruins.
Review 41:the hotel is characterful and a few minutes walk from the Paestum temple site and museum. The owner was very helpful and could not do enough for usw although we were staying just the one night he checked trains for us because he considered the bus station too far and even drove us to the station
Review 42:Surprisingly busy road outside, but not a major problem.
Review 43:Excellent owners and very helpful. Delightful, clean and comfortable hotel. Great location with regard to village.
Review 44:Paestum has a wonderful museum and the site of the temples beautiful. The Hotel dei Templii was perfectly located for visiting, just on the edge of the archaeological park. I can certainly recommend.
Review 45:the hotel was near the historical site. This is what we came to see, so it fitted our purpose. The owner was able to give us a lift to the train station when we needed it.
Review 46:Hotel dei Templi is in a beautiful building that is both elegant and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, recommending great places to eat right around the corner. A great feature of the hotel is, unlike most hotels in Italy, the staff prepare you coffee themselves rather than from a coffee machine - a lovely personable touch.
Review 47:On street parking only.
Review 48:We arrived late but the proprietor was kindly waiting for us and carried our bags upstairs. He made a recommendation for a late dinner at a nearby osteria which was good and very inexpensive. Breakfast was good and he let us leave our bags while we toured Paestum nearby.
Review 49:Paestum is a stunning place to visit and spend the holidays. Hotel dei Templi is an impeccable small hotel with a personal touch. The staff is friendly and helpful (Piero is the best!!!). The room was very clean. Every morning we had an authentic generous italian breakfast. We would definitely recommend staying at The Hotel dei Templi.
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Great location - Walking distance to Paestum ruins Beautiful interior Delicious breakfast - especially for the cappuccino!
Review 52:Loved the atmosphere - small & friendly Bedrooms spacious and immaculate Friendly and professional staff.... Ideal location for visiting the archaeological temples, for the beach and other interesting places in the Cilento area. Could not have asked for more!
Review 53:It was a nice surprise. The hotel was small, but the rooms were very nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Even though the stay was one night, they treated us as repeat travelers or long term members. We enjoyed our stay especially recommended visit to a buffalo mozzarella factory and restaurant.
Review 54:Fantastic value for money Beautifully cool on a hot hot day. A shower that gives instant hot water. Friendly owners. Excellent location for the temples - 5 minutes walk. Some might want to actually overlook them, which this hotel doesn't but - since they were only round the corner, who minds? Would definitely recommend/go again
Review 55:Friendly helpful staff, lovely room, spotlessly clean,v good breakfast, owner got up early to make us breakfast and gave us a lift to the station, highly recommend
Review 56:To be at a walking distance of the Museum and the archeological park. The good disposition of the staff to please us.
Review 57:Delightful staff, very helpful. Excellent coffee and simple but good breakfast. Short walk to temples. Excellent restaurant just next door.
Review 58:None
Review 59:Really lovely room which was very spacious
Review 60:Very clean, modern and comfortable. The staff were lovely and helpful. Great location and free parking outside the hotel
Review 61:Close to the museum and ruins. Breakfast is continental but good. Very nice and helpful staff
Review 62:Super friendly staff, great location
Review 63:The location was great. And the parking spot available was great. The room was really nice..
Review 64:The location is perfect and the staff exceptional.
Review 65:Some noise from the street.
Review 66:The location is 5 minutes walk from the temples Free parking
Review 67:Very near to Paestum, a five minute walk. Delightful suite of rooms, and very welcoming host and hostess. Excellent value.
Review 68:I liked the look but some might find t too plain.
Review 69:Stylish but unpretentious renovation of charming ol building, glorious location and views.
Review 70:I never thought about that.
Review 71:The attention of the staff and the cleanliness and contort of a particularly large room.
Review 72:Historic Palace and our host Dorothy. Most excellent!
Review 73:The location is great. The hotel was very clean and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.
Review 74:Great room (free upgrade to a suite was perfect for repaving before flying home ) fabulous cheerful owner , incredible location.
Review 75:Nothing to dislike
Review 76:Great location just by the Temples. Accomodation has plenty of character and the staff are very pleasant.
Review 77:Upgrade to empty suite at no additional cost; excellent Italian continental breakfast
Review 78:Traffic noise at night
Review 79:Proximity to ruins
Review 80:Planning regulations did not allow lifts and mosquito nets.
Review 81:Delightful, intelligent staff, excellent breakfast, very nice design, close to the museum.
Review 82:Value for Money Comfort and furbishing quality Very pleasant room Breakfast
Review 83:Only problem - it was extremely difficult to find: despite driving by twice we had still not seen the very obscure name on the door; and it is not listed amongst the hotel signs at the nearby crossroads.
Review 84:Perfect location, a few hundred metres from the Paestum site and the restaurants near to it. Great to see these magic temples both at dusk and at dawn. Also only a short drive to a long sandy beach and a number of buffalo farms. Very friendly people who served an excellent breakfast.
Review 85:The hotel is an historic building, upgraded with beautiful wood elements, lovely tile and stone work, and fine furnishings; yet, it retains many interesting features of the original building. The owner was extremely welcoming and accommodating.
Review 86:The location within walking distance of the ruins and many restaurants. The owner was very accommodating, he helped us book a tour and gave his suggestions of places to visiting the area.
Review 87:Nothing to say.
Review 88:The hosts were extremely friendly, of good advise and always adapating to our schedule. You can park the car right in front without any problem, and wifi is excellent in room and in breakfast area. We stayed one night, but felt like at home. The view on nature and landscapes from the room is astonishing, and the b&b is only a few meters away from the temples entrance. You can reach it by foot in less than 5 minutes.
Review 89:No food in the evening and on a Monday (early season), there is nothing open seemingly for miles. Bring a picnic supper. Road outside is a race track (as the road outside the temples is closed to traffic - which makes that location good).
Review 90:Great location. Pasteum is a wonder. Wonderful conversion. Very tasteful. Walking distance to Italy's greatest tourist site. Do this early season without the crowds.
Review 91:This is a lovely, small hotel. The owner is friendly and helpful; the rooms are charming, clean and "authentically Italian" -and the location great, being next to the park-like Phaestum. I will stay here again!
Review 92:No parking place, you park just along quite busy street.
Review 93:Very nice restored hotel, with old elements kept. Close to Temples-5 min walk. Good breakfast (sweet). Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 94:Huge room, very clean, comfy bed, huge bathroom and wonderful shower. Great location for walking to the archeological area and the nearby Buffalo farm where you can get some of the tastiest mozarella di buffala.
Review 95:Leaving!
Review 96:This hotel is a beautifully restored two hundred year old grand house beside the ancient walls of the temples. The room was spacious and scrupulously clean. The staff was friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Booked tours and recommended restaurants. We felt very much at home. There was adjacent parking on the street.
Review 97:Great location. A short walk from the historical site and not far from the station. Host extremely friendly and happy to do anything to help. Recent well done conversion of an older building
Review 98:The hotel has no elevator, it lies on a very noisy road, but the windows are very well isolated, so not too much noise.
Review 99:very friendly personnel, on walking distance of the termples.
Review 100:Had hoped to be able to see the temples from the hotel
Review 101:Great location within walking distance of the Greek temples and museumof Paestum, and several excellent restaurants
Review 102:not a complaint to level!
Review 103:Great location. The facilities are four-star. Our room had a sitting room, gorgeous high ceilings, beautifully appointed. This is a lovely place. Knowledgeable and congenial staff, great breakfast, great location, beautiful digs.
Review 104:No remarks.
Review 105:Very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice and clean rooms. Cozy lobby. Situated close to the historical remainings. We highly recommend this hotel.
Review 106:Within walking distance of paestum archeological site; small town setting; staff friendly, courteous and helpful; rooms are upstairs; Tatianna insisted on carrying all the heavy bags to our rooms and down again in the morning; breakfast was simple but adequate.
Review 107:The staff were exceptional, and ensured my visit to Paestum and my stay at their B&B went well. I could not have asked for a better accomodation; clean and comfortable, close to the temples and to good food and transportation. Great value.
Review 108:We found the hotel very noisy being so close to the main through road.No real view onto the temples but they were still within walking distance
Review 109:Helpful and obliging staff and well designed and stylish decor in the rooms.Perhaps slightly too expensive for what it offered. The local restaurants etc were very charming.Paestum was truely quite delightful and special. To be recommended
Review 110:Friendly welcome, the rooms were beautifully decorated and clean, thehotel had a good ambience as an older building which had been very wellmodernised, and the location right next to the wall of the ancient cityof Paestum and a short walk from the temples was fantastic. The hotelalso arranged dinner at a suitable restaurant for us and with a 20 percent discount on the meal.
Review 111:Great location. Very nice people that run the place.
Review 112:nothing. fantastic place!
Review 113:Proximity to the ruins was fantastic, and we really enjoyed the free concert on the grounds.
