Reviews for Etna Hut
Review 1:We couldn't find the B&B at first. We used the address to locate it with our GPS. When we arrived there was nothing. Just a very rocky and steep road. We tried to drive through it but it was impossible. Then we used the GPS coordinates. Also no result. Eventually we found it... When we arrived we got a very poor welcome from the mother of the owner. A LOT different then our previous experiences. We didn't get info of the town, where to eat something, etc. We tried to find something ourselves but we had no wifi-signal. Also in the hut there was a pool of water near the toilet. I tried to get in contact with the owner, but I rang the doorbell twice and got no response. The day after we got a a little bit more info of the husband.
Review 2:Me and my boyfriend went to Sicily for a week. We rented a car to drive around. Our fourth stop was mount Etna. The B&B was cosy. The hut was somewhat romantic to sleep in. The location is amazing: you have a panoramic view over the town and you are close to mount Etna.
Review 3:Great location if you want to visit Mount Etna.Friendly staff, very helpful in booking a trip to Etna. Rooms were lovely, as was the view from the hilltop where the hotel is located.
Review 4:Be careful to book an economy room: it is without Windows And with a musty smell because it is in de basement of the house.
Review 5:Good location, beautiful view, good restaurant tips by the host.
Review 6:.
Review 7:The owner was extremely kind and showed us around the town and pointed out all good traditional Italian eating spots in town. Also gave us information about mt etna and offered lifts to and from mountain (for a fee) but very good
Review 8:There was no internet connection in our room, but not bad at all... finally I read a book instead :-)
Review 9:Two nights we stayed in the Etna Hut. We slept very well, because it was very quiet. The shower was great. Etna hut has a very nice view and its not only close to the Etna but also to Catania. We liked it here and we will come back for sure !
Review 10:When we arrived the owners wife gave up very basic information, like here is your room and keys. To be fair, her English was limited and our Italian non existent. When her husband arrived late that evening he informed us about the breakfast time and location...but nothing else. Because the family lives in the same building, we were hesitant to explore much. It took us two days to discover that there was a very nice common area with information about the area. Breakfast was the poorest we received in our week in Sicily and was badly organized. The owner was busy giving tennis lessons on the tennis court and was not easily accessible. With a little bit of effort, this could be a very good B & B.
Review 11:The Location is fantastic, with incredible views of Catania especially at night. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The price was fair for what we got.
Review 12:Wifi is only in specific places and sometimes very slow
Review 13:The hotel is good overall - rooms are big and comfortable, everything you need including a good pool and a tennis court. What really made the difference was Mimo who is the hotel's owner - he constantly helped us get the right itinerary in place, completely changed our plans to make sure that we maximize our stay there. Every morning he sat with us to plan the day and suggest ideas for tours and adventures for the kids - telling us which roads to use to both stay out of traffic jams while maximizing the scenes on the way. Mimo sent us to various restaurants which were ALL great success. Next time we're in eastern Sicily - we're getting back there, no question what so ever! The hotel is located in a very comfortable town of Nicolosi - not a giant town yet has everything you need, a great set of restaurants, some great Panaficio (Il Vecchio Forno) and a good bar when you can get good coffee and perfect Granita
Review 14:The WiFi did not work inside the room.
Review 15:My kids loved the swimming pool. It is close to Mount Etna. Easy to get into the south side of the Etna excursions,
Review 16:From Etna Hut we had a very beautiful view, one side showed us the sea in the horizon and the other side the Mount Etna. The rooms were incredibly nice decorated. Each room was completely inspired from a continent. The hosts were very pleasant and spoke good English
Review 17:Nothing!
Review 18:The setting is wonderful. Views out to the coast and a peaceful place to relax after a day on Etna. The hosts were really friendly and hospitable. We chose to eat there both nights and even though there isn't a restaurant, they made us homemade pasta which was delicious and set us a table outside overlooking the great view all washed down with a couple of bottles of lovely local wine. Perfect!
Review 19:Loved the wood cabin style triple room. Lovely setting, swimming pool and gardens. Knowledgeable host.
Review 20:Wifi signal was very low, but who cares, the place is spectacular and the owners are very kind.
Review 21:Everything was perfect. We'll be back.
Review 22:We did not have breakfast because it was disgusting and we did not have hot water
Review 23:The location is good and the view is very nice
Review 24:Breakfast was so & so!
Review 25:Good location and comfortable rooms.
Review 26:the breakfast was very bad and nothing was fresh as contrary to the other breakfasts in Sicily where all served was always fresh. The coffee was very bad as well so we had to go and have breakfast elsewhere. The surroundings of the location is full of garbage so it was quite an eyesore , considering the beautiful view of the etna.
Review 27:we liked the room and it was clean .The premises are also clean.
Review 28:Our room was ok but only had a small window that did not open all theway
Review 29:It was on a beautiful hillside it near Mt Etna. It was very quite andpretty with a pool and terrace and the dining area was of glass to lookout to the city and the sea in the distance . The owners live there andwere very gracious and potential and helpful with information to helpus. We asked for dinner and it was outstanding .
Review 30:This is a lovely place to stay in Nicolosi (we've been 3 times now). The views down to the coast and up the mountain are brilliant. Also, the pool area is great.
Review 31:Great location at the edge of lovely town Nicolosi, and on the road to Mount Etna (15 minutes to the lift). The owner's couple were friendly and very helpful for our trip to the top of Etna. Tip: leave the hotel at 08:30, so you take the earliest lift to the top and enjoy the morning sun. Later in the day it gets cloudly. There are three clean, modern and spacious rooms in the basement and four wooden cottages in the garden. Nice pool with stunning view and a professional tennis court.
Review 32:The location of Etna Hut is superb, it is near the town of Nicolosi. You can see both the coast and Etna. You are only 25 minutes from Etna. There is a lovely pool and tennis court. Paolo the owner took time to help us book for Etna, and even put breakfast out early for us on the day we left.
Review 33:The breakfast was not very special for us, visitors from Holland, unlessyou prefer sweet ingredients. No bread , only sweet bread, no freshorange juice. (That we encountered in almost every hotel we passedduring our 2 ½ week trip through Sicily). The water from the can we usedfor tea tasted like coffee. Despite this a great place to stay!
Review 34:Although we booked for 2 nights for a hotelroom with seaview we stayedin one of the three cozy and modern Huts, behind the hotelbuilding, situated in a beautiful garden. The Huts are small, but for us it was noproblem. We were the only guests and enjoyed the quiet swimming poolwith great views on the Etna and the coastal area. The couple that runsthis place are nice, friendly and service minded. They speak very wellEnglish and provided us with all the information you need to visit anunknown area and also a ticket for the cable- car station, taking you toEtna. Nicolosi is a green village with a few restaurants, the lastvillage on the road to the Etna. We didn’t had time to use thetenniscourt (next time we will).
Review 35:The pool was not well maintained. Probably because it was not yet hight season.
Review 36:Situated between Nicolosi and Etna. Best location to stay overnight before going to see Etna. Ask the staff, they'll make you a free reservation for tickets and will explain how to pass through queues and what to see.
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:Peaceful and beautiful views
Review 39:Wooden huts primitive. Hard beds.
Review 40:Nice view over Etna. Pool for the children.
Review 41:Mountainview, clean scenery, nice setting, friendly people, helpfull.
