Reviews for Ferryport House B&B
Review 1:On arrival we were told that the restaurant was closed and wouldn't be open until approx March 2016. This was not stated on your website.
Review 2:The position of the B & B is perfect when using the ferry.
Review 3:only downside was that the restaurant was closed when we stayed so we went hunting for food in the rain
Review 4:We had a lovely stay here! Very good value for money, close to the ferry and lovely staff :) Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Review 5:Plumbing to shower needs attention. Water stopped twice whilst using it. Frustrating!
Review 6:Friendly welcome. Excellent breakfast. Close to Ferry terminal.
Review 7:As restaurant closed no access to food and no info available on availability of food elsewhere. Reception closed so no way to contact to enquire.
Review 8:Very near ferryport so ideal for travellers
Review 9:There was no hot water and after reporting this twice the owner still charged us 20euro for breakfast and offered no other excuse or resolution for the problem. In this day and age to have no hot water is ridiculous. We were travelling with a young baby which made having no hot water unacceptable. We will not be returning to this b&b.
Review 10:I have only one small criticism in that I had expected some shampoo to have been made available. Given that I left the having a shower til very late at night I had to use the available bodywash as a shampoo. As I said it is only a small criticism and I would definitely stay there again.
Review 11:Locality was great for getting the ferry the next morning.
Review 12:Stayed for one night on Dec. 21st. Paid in advance and booked breakfast. Mattress stone hard, duvet very heavy, not enough toilet paper. Found it hard to sleep because of the bed situation. Next morning not a drop off the hot water taps, therefore no shower etc. Arrived at breakfast room which was locked and in darkness. A member of staff arrived and announced that the breakfast lady will not be doing breakfast after having been notified that no guests will be requiring such. We were not the only ones affected, there was a queue for breakfast! In fairness, our breakfast money was refunded.
Review 13:There was no hot water for a shower in the morning and no hot water from the hot water tap. No one to speak to and we had to leave for the ferry. The same issue in my son's room.
Review 14:Location and price
Review 15:Restaurant was shut. Thought price included breakfast.bathroom was cold, wind coming through window.television didn't work.view of back garden bleak.old carpets, paintwork, and tiles.
Review 16:The staff
Review 17:When we stayed the restaurant was closed
Review 18:Super location for anyone taking the ferry. Very large bedroom and bathroom with full bath. Plenty of parking. Great value for money.
Review 19:No hot water for a shower, and we're not informed about this, and staff seemed to have disappeared not to deal with customers about the cold water.
Review 20:There was problems on both occasions we stayed with the water system. The water in the shower was intermittent and cold. Occasionally came through hot and then would dry up completely.
Review 21:Close to ferry terminal
Review 22:Extremely well-located from the ferry dock, and in fact the Irish Ferry shuttle driver dropped me off at the entrance on his way to town...but I could easily have walked it. Entrance is on the main Wexford road, with a shopping center, grocery store and cafe across the street. Bus stop into Wexford was directly outside the gate, with 10 yards. And the staff is great. Excellent value.
Review 23:-breakfast served too late for travel schedule - restaurant closed (not much else in town open if arriving with evening ferry on a Monday)
Review 24:- plenty of room and useful furniture - comfortable bed - friendly personnel - enough room on parking lot for a long van
Review 25:when toilet was flushed it would drip water til it filled up again very hard to sleep disappointed that restaurant/bar was not open would definitely update their TV stations as very bad reception also Wifi not good in room could only get in Bathroom
Review 26:Carmel met us at reception very pleasant and helpful-reception area very nice too Breakfast 5*
Review 27:A very warm welcome for me and my 3 children. Perfectly located right at the Ferry port for our early morning ferry. Room was bee hot but all in all a pleasant experience.
Review 28:The staff were brilliant and so helpful, it was like home from home. people could not have been friendlier. you can hop on a bus outside the door and leave the car behind. the beach is beautiful, overall it was a most relaxing few days away.
Review 29:Although very comfortable and clean the general feel of the hotel was 'tired'.
Review 30:Location is excellent - couple of minutes drive to the ferry port. Very nice Chinese restaurant attached to the hotel, with a very relaxing atmosphere.
Review 31:very helpful, booking taxi etc for us.meal fantastic in evening, nothing too much trouble.breakfast great with a good choice.come again any time, we were nine altogether.ranging from 5 - 66 yrs.all enjoyed.
Review 32:Doors banging in the night. No hot water in the morning
Review 33:Convenient to the port. Also it has a restaurant which we did not realise when we booked. Breakfast is available from 7.00am which is good for the boat at 9.00am
Review 34:The restaurant & bar was closed on our night there this was notmade known at time of booking. The ground floor room is near reception & breakfast room, so very noisy in the mornings. Staff did not give a lot of info on the area & it's attractions.
Review 35:The TV lounge was good.On arrival, they noticed my mother was elderly so immediately offered to switch us to a ground floor room from 2nd floor.
Review 36:Having to drag a large case up one flight of stairs (age 72) and no one being available to carry this up for me. Also no bar availability. I will not be staying here again even tho the room was pleasant.
Review 37:Receptionist was very pleasant and it was very near to Rosslare Port for my early departure the next morning.
Review 38:First room was small because someone had forgotten to log our booking in the book so we were given the last available double room. Noise insulation is not very good and bedroom doors close firmly and loudly. On our first stay other guests talked loudly and slammed doors until well after 11pm. Room was much better on second stay and B&B was much quieter
Review 39:Lovely people, great position convenient to the ferry to Wales. Good Asian restaurant attached to the B&B. Very good value.
Review 40:I stay at this venue every year. Dinner at Fusion was excellent as always and our server was fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. The room had heating on and for me felt too warm so did not give the comfort of the room excellent. Early breakfast available which is good value for money. Perfect stop over for catching the early ferry or as a base for touring the south east of the country. I would recommend.
Review 41:No hot water until about 8.30am in morning, hard to find because of unclear address
Review 42:Lovely people with lovely Irish humour, good room, good restaurant, good wi-fi reception, 2 minutes from ferry landing
Review 43:Large airy room, comfortable beds, nice clean bathroom, good shower, nice white towels. Very good evening meal & breakfast. Welcoming, attentive staffŷ
Review 44:The family room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the hotel's location was perfect for us as we were on an early ferry the next morning. Staff were welcoming and efficient.
Review 45:No pubs or nightlife. limited choice of where to eat.
Review 46:Very warm welcome. Good sized room with decent bathroom. Good breakfast and only a couple of minutes from ferry terminals.
Review 47:we stayed here as we were heading to England next morning and we are so glad we did it was lovely the staff were so nice very accommodating anything they could help us with was no trouble especially the girl on reception that night which was the 18th of august so happy we stayed and will do again next time would definitely recommend to everyone.
Review 48:Walls are super thin-I hated listening to my neighbors TV two nights running.
Review 49:Excellent food, nice owners and staff. Pleasant sunny room. Very bicycle friendly.
Review 50:Other than a poorly fitting window in the room (really not an issue!) nothing; exactly as described, friendly staff and great location.
Review 51:Great location, really friendly welcome from all staff and the asian restaurant meal a welcome (and tasty!) added bonus.
Review 52:Overpriced for what it is. Thin walls, quite dirty and old. Beds are not comfortable and ran out of hot water. Right next to the road so can hear overnight. Wifi not in the rooms. Staff are doing their best but for the same price you could get much better accommodation in Ireland. This place is 2 star.
Review 53:Location is great, literally a minute from the port but unfortunately that is about it. Staff were trying hard to please.
Review 54:Had to go to reception to get wifi, not much around and evening meal at the restaurant looked pricey. Had the take away
Review 55:Very big breakfast and lovely sausages
Review 56:PILLOWS HARD /FOOD OK RESTAURANT VERY HOT WITH NOT ENOUGH BLINDS TO CUTOUT SOME OF THE STRONG SUN SHOULD HAVE AIR CONDITIONING
Review 57:GOOD LOCATION FOR FERRY
Review 58:Stayed for one night with our grandchildren, so as to catch early morning ferry to UK, after travelling most of the day found this hotel ideal for us.
Review 59:All the staff were friendly and helpful. Although they do not have a bar, you can sit in the lounge with a drink from the restaurant. We would stay there again when next in the area.
Review 60:The carpet in our room was grubby and hadn't been vacuumed behind the entry door. Bathroom floor was the same! Toilet seat was broken.
Review 61:The staff were very friendly especially in the dining room
Review 62:Was not made aware when booked on line that evening meal would not be available on night of arrival - was available on other nights. Staff suggested pub down the road which had very good food and a good pint of Guinness.
Review 63:Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 64:Nothing
Review 65:Great Irish welcome by the Hostess, we only stayed for one night but were made to feel right at home, check out the great asian restaruant on site. if your looking for somewhere to stay prior to your ferry trip , you won't beat this accommodation.
Review 66:Nothing Can't comment on the breakfast as we didn't have any
Review 67:It's very close to the port, less than 5 minutes. The staff were friendly and the room was lovely
Review 68:Staff were clattering around cleaning adjacent rooms at 07.30. Although we didn't want to be late leaving this was a little too early Breakfast was decent value for price, can't comment on restaurant as we ate out Seeing the advertised rate at 10 euro less than we had through booking. C
Review 69:Good location for overnight stay from or leaving on ferry. Room was clean with decent facilities although have to fight the curtain when taking a shower
Review 70:Wifi wasn't very strong at times.
Review 71:Staff was all brilliant and helpful, room was clean, spacious and had all essentials. Will definitely be returning next year.
Review 72:Wifi wasn't strong enough to get anything sorted for next stage of our holiday.
Review 73:Carmel, receptionist was awesome. Helpful and friendly, very pleasant.
Review 74:There is little to see or do in the immediate vicinity, so this hotel is not really suitable for more than a night's stay. The nearest pubs, restaurants and shops are quite a long walk from the hotel. However, I would not hesitate to stay here again when catching the ferry on the following morning.
Review 75:This is the second time I have stayed at Ferryport House and I found it as good as ever. Very friendly, helpful staff and an excellent, substantial breakfast available from 7 am. My room was clean, comfortable and pleasantly warm. Altogether, excellent value for money ... and only 3 minutes from the ferry port. The wi-fi worked perfectly in my bedroom.
Review 76:Tiny complaint - The breakfast was lovely but it was soooo quiet in there that it felt a bit uncomfortable as everyone could hear everyone else's conversation - a little background music on low would be great.
Review 77:Nice, modern and comfortable room. Friendly staff and great location for the ferry.
Review 78:Wifi connection in room a little sketchy, and tv very small. Also didn't like the tea in the rooms.
Review 79:Comfy bed, powerful shower, great breakfast and location
Review 80:No bar licence and a Chinese restaurant. W e went down the road to the First and Last pub. Lovely Menu
Review 81:Very convenient for just off the ferry, a warm welcome and a nice size room
Review 82:Reception didn't open until 16.00 which was inconvenient for us. Also unfortunately no alcohol was served. But food and staff were great
Review 83:Bright sunny room very friendly staff
Review 84:check out @ 11 , got a very rude call at 11:02 telling us to leave the room - was already on way down , so don't be late to checkout :P
Review 85:Comfortable beds!
Review 86:The lady at the reception was very helpful and welcoming. The parking is great. There are a couple of traditional pubs just a 10 minute walk away. Both do food and take cards.
Review 87:600m to the nearest restaurant with a licence! Certainly no house for a week's holiday!
Review 88:Somewhat older house with satisfyingly large room in acceptable shape. Restaurant in the hotel, but without a licence!! Woman at reception with friendly routine work. The big advantage: 5 min. to the ferry! Good for 1 night.
Review 89:The Restaurant did not have its drinks Licence so unable to have a drink with Meal. Went elsewhere but quite a long walk to nearest alternative
Review 90:Location and friendly staff
Review 91:The family room had a double and single plus a bunk bed. The bunk bed was very poor - mattresses did not fit the bed; slats not present leading to lean on the bed; foam damaged so top bunk had holes in the mattress. It was only sufficient for a very light 7 year old girl. 10 year old boy could not sleep on it. The reception was not open when we departed - in fact there was no option of breakfast as the restaurant was deserted and there was not a safe place to drop the key. This is poor considering the location is ideal for early morning (9.30 am) ferry crossing.
Review 92:We were able to book a family room close to the ferry port for an early morning crossing.
Review 93:Perfect for family - travel cot provided, bunk beds AND a single and double bed all in one room, within baby monitor range of lounge and (lovely) restaurant.
Review 94:The hotel was a little bit on the tired side. Needed a bit of redecoration, but we had just come from a fab hotel in the north. Bed not too comfortable either.
Review 95:The staff were excellent and breakfast was great!
Review 96:Over the years have stayed many times but this is the last time will try somewhere different a very tired and worn property needs refurbishment urgently
Review 97:Staff
Review 98:We had prepaid for breakfast on the morning of our departure but decided on the morning not to have it. No-one was available to give us our money back.
Review 99:How close it was to Rosslare Harbour for the crossing. Lovely Chinese restaurant.
Review 100:The Owner was rude, inconsiderate and ignorant. The TV was up so loud you could hear every word, the owner and customers were talking and shouting so loud i left after an hour upon arrival. not even worth listening to, a complete cow.
Review 101:The bed needed to be replaced, could feel the springs. Pillows very flat and uncomfortable. Tv far too small and dated, hung high upon the wall making viewing difficult.
Review 102:Friendly staff and the place was warm. lots of hot water available,
Review 103:Bed was not very comfortable.
Review 104:Very friendly and helpful staff.Ordered a takeaway from Chinese downstairs and hotel staff provided plates and cutlery. Location was perfect for Ferryport.
Review 105:TV was a bit small
Review 106:Very friendly, good value and great feel about the restaurant. Wake up refreshed and less than 2 minutes to the ferry. Would definitely use again
Review 107:Only downside was that the evening meal option is chinese. Whilst it was delicious, I didnt really want chinese and so perhaps a more varied menu would be better.
Review 108:Fantastic staff, they couldn't do enough for us and our young twins. Clean big and comfortable room. Quiet and peaceful, ideal location for the ferry and tasty food.
Review 109:Ferryport House is friendly and welcoming. Being so close to Rosslare Ferryport it makes the ideal stop-over. We particularly enjoyed our evening meal (Wide selection of Chinese and traditional dishes) Will dfefinitely come here again.
Review 110:The facility was closed until 4pm, so we had to roam around the small town for a couple of hours. Hauling our suitcases up the stairs was difficult.
Review 111:The Ferry terminal was very close, which given the early departure time was a bonus. The restaurant co-located with the B&B was a pleasant surprise. The lady behind the desk was very helpful and helped get us a drink while the restaurant opened.
Review 112:Walls paper thin, could hear everything from other rooms and the water pump.
Review 113:Chinese restaurant onsite, although it stopped serving very early for a Sat night - 9pm.
Review 114:Just there was no heat on and it was a bit cold in my room 2
Review 115:The staff were very very friendly to us room was good food was good great for the price I will be going again and will stay longer next time
Review 116:Not much. Only critisism was the shower, which was a good size, but had a curtain instead of a door, so despite trying very hard not to get water outside the shower it was not possible.
Review 117:Location, and a very straight forward set up. Clean, tidy, comfortable.
Review 118:Just the beds were bit uncomfortable & the pillows were hard
Review 119:Thank you Sue for all your help. After a long journey this was an ideal location to stop over for early ferry home. Clean rooms but hard pillows . The staff couldn't have been more helpful . Will definitely stay again.
Review 120:TV was a little bit small and high in the corner, although I don't wear glasses I would have done with some to see it!!!
Review 121:I liked everything from helpful staff, on site restaruant, great location to harbour, hot water, clean comfortable room and beds.
Review 122:It was closed up when I arrived and I felt the hotel Was only used for bed and breakfast. It was clean and warm but lacked atmosphere. The receptionist was exceptional which helped to correct the lack of homeliness. Check opening times!
Review 123:The greeting of the receptionist was lovely. She was friendly and kind.
Review 124:Nothing.
Review 125:Great location, approx. 5-10min drive from Ferry; local Supervalue supermarket and petrol station; on major road to Cork and Wexford; lots of parking in front of B&B (off main road); Fusion Chinese food on premises; lovely breakfast; good sized room with bathroom and storage space; Wifi facilities, coffee making and tv; rooms at back on ground floor are very quiet. Staff very helpful both in facilities and information about local area etc.
Review 126:No hot water in the bathroom before 6am. Complaint dealt with very poorly and staff were dismissive. Full Irish breakfast not as described in the menu and service was not particularly friendly or proactive.
Review 127:Décor is simple, slightly dated but clean. Nice Chinese restaurant with friendly staff.
Review 128:I like chinese food but to be met with the smell coming in the front door of a hotel seemed very unusual. Hard to eat breakfast next morning with strong smell of chinese food in the restaurant.
Review 129:I liked the sense of space in the restaurant with the large glass windows. Also, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good budget hotel for 1 night stay. Basic and clean.
Review 130:Breakfast lacking, only cereal/yoghurt/juices and full Irish available. No porridge.
Review 131:Comfortable room. Restaurant attached. Accommodating staff.
Review 132:paid €50 for a nights stay in this B&B - ie: bed and breakfast . woke up early to avail of breakfast only to be informed breakfast was not included, even though I booked it!?! Also was told there would be wifi access in my room which I needed for busines and theyre was not.
The Fine Print
Please note that the restaurant is closed until 11 March 2016.
