Reviews for The Rosslare Port Lodge

Review 1:The accomadation was dated and there was a stale smell about the place. Noted were plug in air freshners which were of no use.

Review 2:Location was ideal. Staff pleasant and friendly.

Review 3:Perhaps the most boring lodgings in Rosslare, it's a grave misrepresentation to call this an hotel, horrible, but so is Rosslare.

Review 4:Absolutely nothing

Review 5:Not a wide choice of places to eat within easy walking distance.

Review 6:Convenience of location near the Ferry Port. Sufficient parking. Continental breakfast included. Pay on arrival so no delays in leaving. Two key cards so we could operate independently if necessary.

Review 7:Nothing to fall out with, would definitely use it again/

Review 8:Ideal stopover for ferry. proximity to local restaurants. Basic but perfect for overnight stay,

Review 9:Sleep disturbed by other guests shouting, slamming room doors and allowing small children to run up and down corridors in early hours of the morning. Not what you need when you have to get up early for the ferry.

Review 10:Cottage was hard to find - better signposting visible from the road would help. The charge of 40 euros per week for fuel felt excessive.

Review 11:Cottage was clean, compact and comfortable.

Review 12:nothing it was perfect

Review 13:My wife is badly disabled and our room was great and had a wet room which really helped her. The beds were comfortable, we had a continental breakfast which was nice. This is a great hotel if you are going to the docks approximately 5 miles from the docks.

Review 14:no staff..at night or the next morning...had to check yourself out...office closed..very old tired building..not the cleanest either..

Review 15:location..easy getting right off the boat..short cab ride

Review 16:Ample parking, clean room, hot shower, simple (continental type) breakfast at a reasonable price + a minute or so from the Europort ferry terminal. What else could I want .

Review 17:The rooms had less than basic facilities, no tea or coffee making equipment. The arrangements for tea and coffee and breakfast were at best 1960's style. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere.

Review 18:There was nothing at the site to like. Just one member of staff was very helpful. The rest did not speak or smile. the only positive thing I can say ,is that it is very close to the ferry terminal.

Review 19:breakfast room very basic, breakfast adequate. room very bland some cushions or different colours on walls would brighten it up.

Review 20:clean and comfortable and close to ferry port

Review 21:The room was very spartan-clean and functional but just the bare necessities.

Review 22:Great location close to the ferry terminal which made for great viewing from the pub

Review 23:Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was basic but well presented. Rooms were basic but very clean. Bed very comfortable. Location was excellent in proximity to the ferry.

Review 24:No kettle in room - Tea/coffee room closes and no more refreshments available. Shower curtain - not in the best condition.... and they cling to you. Shower screens are more hygienic

Review 25:Location great for ferry Helpful reception Basic continental breakfast available this year as well as coffee/tea - cereals, toast etc.

Review 26:Would have preferred tea/coffee facilities in the room. Free drinks were available in the dining room, but only until 9.30pm which is too early for many people who like a hot drink before going to bed.

Review 27:Free wifi!

Review 28:Duvet on bed much to heavy would have been better with a top sheet and two extra pillows

Review 29:Comfortable stay in Hotel Very clean with a comfortable bed and friendly staff

Review 30:It was tiresome not to be able to make tea or coffee in the bedroom, and WiFi only operated in public areas.

Review 31:The staff were very friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable. Great to have proper Irish brown bread for breakfast.

Review 32:No tea/coffee making facility in the bedroom - pretty much a standard feature in hotels these days.

Review 33:Perfect location for catching the morning ferry, with no risk of getting caught in traffic.

Review 34:I'd like a little more choice for breakfast, it was advertised as continental breakfast, but it was a version of it, tea, coffee, cereal and toast. Adequate but basic. Tea and coffee was available in the common / TV room but I didn't realise till I was leaving, a kettle in the room with a few bits of coffee wouldn't go amiss

Review 35:Location, reasonable price

Review 36:Very helpful and friendly staff, large comfortable room, great location. The provision of a basic breakfast was a nice bonus. large public room in which to eat takeaway food was beneficial. Great value for an overnight stay near the ferry port. Jonathan very kindly posted back my Sat-Nav (which I left behind) very quickly

Review 37:Very slick check in and nothing to do at departure, which is beneficial when leaving for the ferry port - which is 1 minute away. Makes for stress free arrival at dock side!

Review 38:Breakfast isn't served until 7am which is when check-in opens at the port. Needs to open at 6am as there isn't anywhere open to get a decent breakfast at that time of the morning.

Review 39:Very comfortable beds. Ideally located for the harbour. Family room was the perfect size for a family of 4.

Review 40:Lack of a kettle in the room; a simple, basic provision which could easily be provided at little cost, to enable a hot drink to be obtained outside the hours when such comforts are provided in the lounge.

Review 41:Quiet, convenient location (for ferry port as a foot passenger).

Review 42:The inability to make a hot drink as no tea making facilities in rooms. Breakfast was disappointing as we had to use cheap plastic cutlery to eat our food.My knife snapped when I was using it. The staff spent the whole time chatting to each other. Guests were ignored as we were not even greeted with a good morning or shown what was available (which was very poor!)

Review 43:Close to port

Review 44:Was expecting to have a kettle in the room, really missed my cup of tea after driving all day. Other guests were a bit noisy and could hear next rooms phone alarm vibrating in the morning.

Review 45:Clean and comfortable, very convenient for ferry.

Review 46:Family room is two double beds - not liked by teenage boys, staff complaining about customers loudly. Breakfast not suitable for diabetics, cereals, toast, etc (weetabix ,shredded wheat, low sugar yoghurt, fresh fruit would of being good.) staff did not stand out as staff due to casual dress ie joggers. No tea making in room.

Review 47:Extremely clean, very good beds and linen, great to have use of lounge/tv room- a lovely sunny room, huge tv in lounge. Could help self to tea from lounge. Friendly welcome.

Review 48:Would like kettle in room to make coffee Fine for a night before or after ferry but wouldn't want to stay longer - to be fair I think it is geared towards this market anyway

Review 49:Good that they are now doing a basic breakfast. VERY close to Rosslare Port Reception - very helpful person Ferry information and advce given at reception - very useful VERY basic but clean

Review 50:Nothing really, its basic accommodation with no bar or anything but you pay for what you get and we were happy.

Review 51:The location to Rosslare Harbour is magnificent. Just minutes!

Review 52:Stayed for four nights to explore the surrounding area. We were very comfortable, the staff couldn't have been more helpfull allowing us to fill our flask each morning ready for our excursions and we had every facility needed at the Lodge for a very pleasing stay. We will return to explore the area further.

Review 53:Reception staff very friendly . Although breakfast was very basic this was explained on check in to avoid disappointment. Still good value for money. Very close to the ferry so would stay again

Review 54:The town itself is quite boring and there are almost no restaurants and just a few stores (but the lodge is of course not to blame for that).

Review 55:Clean, big, comfortable modern rooms. Early breakfast for when you have to catch the ferry.

Review 56:We really liked how close to the Port the Rosslare Port Lodge was. Reception was manned by an extremely friendly, pleasant and informative young man and later in the evening the more mature receptionist was very helpful and informative about places to eat. Bed was very comfortable and we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was at night and had an excellent nights sleep. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and tables were cleared quickly and unobtrusively. all in all a good experience and full marks for a well thought out service for Ferry passengers.

Review 57:The TV room closing at 9.30 pm. In rooms where there were also children staying it meant adults had to sleep at the same time as the children

Review 58:Location to Port

Review 59:We Had a great stay in a good quality hotel. It was very clean and well appointed with an unexpected continental breakfast. We booked early online and got a really cheap deal. I do not think it is possible to get a room for two people in the port for less money. Really good value!!!!

Review 60:Bed was hard, only one pillow No staff were available, we saw one on check in and then one when we reported a problem with the room Main light in the room was not working on arrival Check in time is very rigid. 4pm is the earliest

Review 61:Free Wifi Local pub served lovely food

Review 62:A very basic room indeed. No hairdryer in room, also no tea making facilities.Hairdryers available at reception and tea can be found in the dinning room, but this isn't the same thing.Bare shelves where the spare blankets would be in any other hotel.Wooden chairs very uncomfortable for watching TV.

Review 63:Close to Rosslare Harbour.Smooth check-in.Room/bathroom clean & continental breakfast had a good supply of everything I wanted.

Review 64:I found the whole experience very poor. The fact that we had no WiFi in the rooms and no tea making facilities in the room in this day and age poor. The dinning area felt more like a youth hostel with paper cups and ridiculously poorly written signs about not throwing coffee at the walls. Felt like I was being told off when all I wanted was a cup of tea. No biscuits provide either. The breakfast again was very poor quality. The croissants were stale and very small probably coming from a bag bought very cheaply. Overall not happy would not stay again unless it improved drastically.

Review 65:It was cheap.

Review 66:When we arrived to the reception, we found it difficult to communicate with the man at the desk. His english was very poor and it took us a long time time to pay and get to our rooms.

Review 67:I enjoyed the comfort of the rooms. The room was up to the same standard as a 3* hotel. The wifi was very handy aswell.

Review 68:I would have liked kettle , tea and coffee etc in room and breakfast half an hour earlier to allow us to have breakfast and catch train at 7.20am to Dublin. As it was we had to skip breakfast and buy it in the local petrol station.

Review 69:Basic , simple and convenient

Review 70:We were awoke at 1.30 am with water coming through ceiling and found it hard to find a member of staff and we wear not offer any assistance to get out clothing dry

Review 71:It is near the ferry

Review 72:I stay in at least 4 hotels every week of the year and as yet have never come across a hotel that does not have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Bad idea that. Nearly walked out in disgust, nothing in the description to suggest that this was the case. Think I deserve some money back for being misled. I had to be on the road early the next morning before breakfast which was at 7.00 am so no chance of any tea or coffee. Bed was on wheels so when in bed sitting up the bed moves forward leaving a gap at headboard end, another bad idea !!!! Rubbish

Review 73:Location to the ferry

Review 74:Loud Banging at 6am... Few solutions here, Put in phones to wake guestsor get their Mobiles off them and suggest a early wake up call.Breakfast Utensils where plastic and bowls were the same...

Review 75:This place was a very big Dissapointment to us as my side and I hadbooked it prior to our anniversary...No Wifi available and when askedrwas told "it should be ok to get signal"...WOKE Up thefolloeing morning by loud Bangs on Guests doors, then to walk Down forbreakfast to be greeted with plastic bowls and utensils... This isappalling and very eager to pass my expierience here to the IrishTravellers board committee .

Review 76:Wi-fi has a poor / hit and miss connection.

Review 77:Close to the Port and easy parking. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room's are clean and bed comfortable.

Review 78:Very basic accomodation and general decor, just about acceptable, no tea making facility in room. Tea and coffee available in lounge until 9.30pm only.

Review 79:Convenient for ferry, cheap and cheerful, loads of car parking, all clean. The bedroom was a good size, and bed small but comfortable.

Review 80:This is the worst B&B Hotel I have ever stayed in. If you want to feel as if you are in a detention centre this is the place for you. Breakfast was derisory -plastic knives and forks. Cups with no saucers or spoons. The food was from a pound shop.

Review 81:Departing ASAP

Review 82:The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, the sheet was too small for the bed and there was no mattress protector. In the morning there was no hot water. As there was no phone in the room there was no way to communicate our issues and as we were catching a ferry we simply felt that we would just get on our way.

Review 83:Sadly nothing - although the location is convenient for the ferry port. We usually stay a few miles outside of Rosslare, but on this occasion thought we'd stay in the port itself. €70 whilst cheap is still similar is not more than many other places in the Rosslare area - however when one has no sleep and cannot have a shower in the morning then the price does not represent value for money.

Review 84:It is clean but spartan. I stay in monasteries and this would be a good candidate.

Review 85:It is within walking distance of the ferry and rail if necessary and cabs are not always around. My third time here for this reason.

Review 86:The breakfast is mediocre at best.

Review 87:The location is excellent, with regard to access to the port. The accommodation is very clean, but the hot water was non-existent early in the morning and late at night.

Review 88:Nothing really.....maybe just that the TV was very small but that's not important....all the important things were just fine.

Review 89:Excellent family run hotel a few minutes from the ferry terminal. Extremely helpful and friendly young man at reception was more than happy to chat and answer some questions. Our room was large enough, airy and very clean......as was the bathroom. Continental breakfast was plentiful and plenty to choose from....perfect before catching the ferry. An excellent hotel and we thoroughly recommend it. Very good value for money.

Review 90:The room felt damp. The breakfast was poor. Our request for Gluten free items didn't seem to be revived from our booking. The choice of other items was limited and of poor quality. Oh and the family of elephants in the room above us didn't go to sleep until 0300!

Review 91:The location for the port is excellent.

Review 92:No kettle etc in our room. Bathroom not clean, hair in bath. Dirty plug hole. Curtains didn't draw correctly.

Review 93:Location after getting off the ferry.

Review 94:complimentary tea / coffee in shared lounge instead of in room

Review 95:Its in a great location for quick access to the ferry in the morning. Bathroom was excellent

Review 96:You could hear people talking in the next room and people walking about upstairs. The hotel needs a complete makeover. Glad we were only booked in for one night.

Review 97:The location was excellent for the ferry port.

Review 98:No WiFi in the rooms. Only available in reception unfortunately.

Review 99:Comfortable beds and very clean, very airy and spacious. Very good location for the port and ferry - within walking distance. Free tea and coffee during the day and nice breakfast - not too heavy!

Review 100:We booked this for ease of catching an early ferry, not expecting it to be great and was very pleasantly surprised. A lovely place to stay, very clean and great staff, and very aware of ferry times etc. would highly recommend.

Review 101:the breakfast was very poor, not continental at all just cerial ,toast , yougurt orange and tea The breakfast room doesn't open until seven and you have to wait for the water to boil there are no tea making facilities in the room.

Review 102:the room was very comfortable bright, warm and everything you would need.

Review 103:It was disappointing there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room, although this was available until 9.30pm in the dining room.

Review 104:Good value, clean and comfortable

Review 105:My only complaint would be about the coffee for breakfast. I didn't think it was good at all.

Review 106:The location is superb. The staff were very helpful on the phone.

Review 107:Specific motorcycle parking provided just outside reception, so easy access to the building (fantastic in the rain) and no chance of being blocked in by cars

Review 108:It was more like a truck stop than a hotel. Very, very basic breakfast included. No elec. points near the bed.....all very basic! Could be more welcoming.

Review 109:It's location close to the ferry terminal

Review 110:4 pm was a little late as a check-in time. No phones in the room and no-one at the desk after 10 pm and our Canadian cell phones don't work here-what happens in an emergency?

Review 111:Good to have something at breakfast but it was just cold cereal, white bread toast, o.j. and apples.

Review 112:Suggestions only: TV in bedroom could be a little bigger but has good reception. Would be nice to have a machine in the hallway where one could purchase a bar of chocolate, bag of crisps, etc

Review 113:Modern building, plenty of parking. The bed was comfortable, bathroom modern and clean, wifi available, good continental breakfast, bedroom had a window that you could open for fresh air, tea and coffee available at any time in a comfortable lounge area. Value for money. Very good experience - will repeat. Would recommended

Review 114:Breakfast pretty basic. Lidl yoghurts- yuk, cheap, too sweet, poor choice. No sugar bowl or sachets- had to spoon sugar from one lidless canister- anyone could have sneezed over it! Free urn of hot water, tea, coffee in dining room- not in room.

Review 115:Good basic provision 1 min drive from Rosslare port.

Review 116:Everything was clean, the breakfast was lovely, and being close to the ferry was great. Nothing we didn't like. We've booked in on the way back.

Review 117:no chair in bedroom. poor wall and ceiling insulation banging and walking noises and snoring noise door locking very noisy

Review 118:convenient to ferry terminal. very basic no frills but functionable

Review 119:The shower curtain was brown which was probably dirt. Because the shower curtain wasn't very long as soon as the shower came in it was drawn towards you and wanted to cling to you. To avoid this I had to put the curtain on the outside of the bath and then deal with the water on the floor after the shower.

Review 120:The room was big and available, the room was also clean.

Review 121:Only one pillow per person and no spares. Shower was stuck on one temperature HOT! Not many towels and were not replaced next day.no kettle in room or hair dryer but are available in lounge area and at reception

Review 122:Close to the port. Shop nearby.clean. very spacious rooms. Free WiFi was a good speed. Staff were nice. Breakfast was good also

Review 123:VERY LIMITED RECEPTION DESK - 4PM - 6PM. Without a vehicle only one restaurant in reasonable walking distance.

Review 124:CONVENIENT TO BUS STOP AND SHORT TAXI RIDE TO PORT.

Review 125:Overpriced for what you got.

Review 126:Friendly owner, good sized carpark. Busy weekend in Wexford area, only accommodation available, did the job. Basic accommodation.

Review 127:wifi was quite slow at times but I think that's generally expected in a hotel

Review 128:The location was perfect for ferry users. Very easy to find as it was just off the main road. It was quiet, clean and spacious.

Review 129:Not a lot to do in the area but good for the ferry.

Review 130:The hotel is good for the night before catching the Ferry to the UK. We left a jacket at the hotel and the manager drove it down to the ferry himself, that was really appreciated.

Review 131:It is a great place to stay it is just a few min from the port and the staff are very friendly and a tv lounge with free tea and coffee and in the morning u got free continental breakfast it is a good start to any holidays

Review 132:The checking in & out was so straight forward.Cleanliness of our room..comfy beds..friendly staff..breakfast basic..but no shortage of tea coffee cereals toast yoghurt...Great value for money

Review 133:The breakfast/television/sitting-room was of youth hostel character and the breakfast was very little 'continental' with nothing but cornflakes, toast, butter and marmelade with teabags and almost hot water.

Review 134:The room and bathroom were clean and quite.

Review 135:Staff were so friendly and accommodating. The area was so quiet but had lovely places around to go out at night and a handy shop two seconds away which was brilliant.
