Reviews for Old Orchard Lodge B&B
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Location right next to the ferry port, two pubs a one minute walk away, friendly staff, wifi, cleanliness of rooms, quiet nights sleep, excellent breakfast
Review 3:Our hostess, Kay was very friendly, she made the children fresh pancakes each morning and I had the most delicious omelettes each morning and the homemade brown bread was delicious!
Review 4:Old Orchard Lodge is a convenient B/B when leaving or going to travel by ferry. The accommodation is very comfortable and guests are made very welcome.
Review 5:Not pet friendly, dog was only allowed in my room which had a wooden floor. Another guest with a dog was put in a converted garage across the garden Asked to give my breakfast order the night before,I gave it, egg bacon , sausage and black pudding. What arrived was egg bacon and tomato. I was not given a key to my room or the front door until midnight.so bedroom unlocked while I went out to walk the dog and to have supper. Not very secure.
Review 6:Location ,well thought out room
Review 7:Kay was a great host. She had beautiful gardens and made a great breakfast. She directed us to the pub across the street for dinner which had good traditional food and local live music. We had a splendid time. Finally, Kay gave us great tour/sites advice and we saw some things we otherwise would have missed.
Review 8:A truly excellent B&B. Kay was the perfect hostess on both our overnight stays on our trip to County Kerry.A welcoming cuppa, delicious cakes and a comfy bed plus a so convenient distance from the ferry make this the perfect place to stay. Our Guide Dog and other dogs most welcome.
Review 9:Our host - very friendly and accommodating. Very comfortable and cozy room on first floor at front of the house. Good pub food in walking distance after long drive. Early breakfast offered for ferry and only a few minutes drive away to the boat.
Review 10:We asked for an early breakfast as we were catching a ferry but waited quite a while as hostess was late up and we ended up right at back of queue at port, which is only 5 mins driving time away.
Review 11:Very friendly hostess
Review 12:Lovely host , lovely location , clean and comfortable , kay the host even turnt up at the ferry terminal with my uncles glasses that he had left behind , thank you once again would defiantly recommend
Review 13:Uncomfortable bed, poor breakfast - forgot kids order, sausages very poor quality. House was cold in the morning. Not suitable / set-up for young children
Review 14:Location relative to the harbour
Review 15:Kay was amazing! The room was beautiful! After seeing our bags and that I was pregnant she moved us to a downstairs room. Breakfast was scrumpous and plentiful! I couldn't finish it all! She was able to answer all the questions we had about out onward travels. If Rosslare Harbour were on the itinerary again I wouldn't hesitate to book again!
Review 16:Our hostess was friendly and welcoming and our room was comfortable and perfect for our needs. The location is very convenient to the ferry and there's a lovely pub within walking distance for an evening meal.
Review 17:From the moment we arrived the owner was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make sure everything was ok for us. Would recommend to anyone that needs to travel to Rosslare and very easy to find.
Review 18:On arrival there was nobody go greet us, after travelling for 4 hours we were quite tired and wanted to get settled in. When we called Kay she said she would be back in an hour!!! Bearing in mind my sister and I had two young children and practically in the middle of nowhere we found this to be very unprofessional and felt we had been mislead by the description promising a warm welcome on arrival when she did finally arrive there was no apology and no offer of tea and coffee. She asked if we would tea in the morning before we leave and we said yes but again we did not even get that and the worst thing is that she wasn't even busy so overall very very disappointed and will definitely not return!!!!
Review 19:The fact that it was so close to the ferry port
Review 20:Hostess buzzed so quickly from task to task, that we didn't feel particularly important. Basically "welcome," but no time to spare. I am sure she wanted to make the place perfect for us, and can't be in 2 places at once. However, it was a little off putting.
Review 21:Safe. They picked us up at the station for a small fee.
Review 22:It was difficult to find the accommodation in the dark. Google maps has the property on the main road, when in fact you have to turn left in the village and its on the left.
Review 23:Arrived late, and as we hadn't eaten Kay made us some toasties, tea and cake - very much appreciated. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice of cereals etc. It was wonderful to find somewhere where we could have the dog with us.
Review 24:It was perfect!
Review 25:Kay welcomed us very heartwarming with cuppa tea and apple crumble. Her house and the rooms are very cosy and she also had in Mond that we Cole with a little doggy.
Review 26:When my ferry was cancelled within 24hours of my booking, how easily Kay let me change it without charge. Lovely, friendly welcome. Nice breakfast, tasty, freshly baked scones.
Review 27:The Wi-fi was playing up the night we were there, but Kay did her best to get it sorted.
Review 28:Kay is very friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for her. Her house is lovely: a real home from home, beautifully decorated for Christmas. The breakfast is enormous - and delicious! We have stayed here several times on our way to catch the ferry and are happy to keep going there. It is very convenient for nearby pubs for an evening meal.
Review 29:Nothing really, no request was too big
Review 30:Innkeeper Kay was absolutely fantastic. She was ready with a nice cup of tea after we'd arrived on the late ferry and made it to the B and B around 8pm. She gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner and she looked after our kids while we were packing up in the morning even though she was busy getting the rooms organised for the coming night - a great place to stay with very comfortable beds and an excellent breakfast!
Review 31:Bed a little firm and initially cold for my wife but extra heating was provided. Dog had to stay in the room which is quite understandable but does restrict you a little.
Review 32:Host and tea and cakes on arrival. Really well situated for the ferry and excellent breakfast provided as you like it. Welcomed the dog.
Review 33:First class comfort and accommodation and the most friendly welcome. This is a 'must' for us any time we will travel this way in the future. Excellent breakfast. So handy from the ferry terminal - just opposite the first Pub in Ireland which does a tasty cod and chips.
Review 34:Nothing of note.
Review 35:The welcome of tea and coffee and home made cakes. The quality of the breakfast. The helpfulness of the host. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 36:We arrived late but it was no problem at all for Kay. We were welcomed and shown our room which was so clean! We were offered tea and coffee and it was a lovely surprise to get a scone as well along with home made jam (can't guarantee that she will always have that). We met a lovely family while we were there and had a lovely evening. All the facilities were great including the wifi and the breakfast was great. Have a try of the Baileys Porridge!
