Reviews for Relais Santa Anastasia
Review 1:Nothing! Maybe the long bumpy road into the hotel, but a pretty drive!
Review 2:The place was amazing. You had to drive up this beautiful twisty road through vineyards and arrive at this old monastery building. The pool was beautiful though too cold for us to swim in since it was October. The rooms were large and comfortable decorated in and old antique almost Tuscan style.
Review 3:The mattress was ripe for renewal, giving insufficient support.
Review 4:Th reception was friendly and the help with the luggage was appreciated as a number of small flights of stairs had to be traversed. The room was pleasant and the bathroom was good. The interior decoration of the public spaces and the room was vey, very pleasant. The breakfast was outstanding, both the overall choice and the inclusion of fried eggs and bacon made to order. Unique in our experience was that the staff gave unremitting attention to the buffet and the tables of the guests. The restaurant provides first class cooking: inventive and attractive. The wine from the property is delicious
Review 5:Lovely but rather isolated location means little choice but dinner at the hotel restaurant. The restaurant ois friendly but a little formal with mixed success for its dishes. Not as much fish on offer as we expected with a few rather off putting large cuts of meat that were cheaper cuts so slow cooked but still on occasion a bit dry.
Review 6:Beautiful surroundings, very comfortable bed, , well set up bathroom. Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 7:The pool, great food, fantastic breakfast buffet, the surrounding views, old historic room with lot of cachet
Review 8:Unfriendly and stiff staff (hotel and restaurant). A bit more relaxed attitude would be good.
Review 9:It was made for middle aged English people, who seems to like it. It was cut off from the surroundings- it could have existed anywhere in the world, the reception staff were depressed and cynical. The atmosphere was depressing.
Review 10:We really didn't like it! However the food was good at dinner.
Review 11:I'm nitpicking here! Free wifi was available which was great, but I would like to have had access to a proper, free, computer. Also it was a disconcerting that they operate dynamic pricing, so a room that cost 120 euros on the Monday cost 170 on the Friday but in fairness that's pretty much standard practice everywhere
Review 12:Fabulous location, stunning views, lovely staff, nothing too much trouble, gorgeous pool, very comfortable, even luxurious and prices for "extras" quite reasonable e.g. the restaurant was excellent with reasonably priced food and wine
Review 13:While the room was amply sized the bed was just not as comfortable as it could be. They could use an upgrade on the mattress.
Review 14:We've stayed here 3 times over the past 10 years. They've improved immensely. Great Wifi, best breakfast ever, amazing and entertaining staff, professional and accommodating. Facility is very comfortable, common areas with wonderful climate control, incredibly clean. Chef Antonio's attention to the menu and quality of food is exemplary. Really wonderful and worth every euro! Close proximity to Cefalu!
Review 15:The calm peaceful location Architecture and decor of the abbey Magnificent views Interesting wine from their own estate Beautiful pool and breakfast terraces
Review 16:Maybe the entrance road with the long drive would have been annoying if we had stayed a few days.
Review 17:Lovely converted old property in the centre of attractive hills lined with vineyards. The staff were more than helpful, the food very high standard and facilities excellent. We would have liked to stay longer.
Review 18:Our two day stay was just about right. The rather formal restaurant might have been too much for longer and it was a ways to the beautiful town of Castel Buono.
Review 19:This inn is in a vineyard outside of Castel Buono by 8 miles. Very nice property with restaurant in house; the room was large, the bed very comfy. If it had been warmer in mid May we would have enjoyed the beautiful pool.
Review 20:The dinner menu was a bit heavy. We would have enjoyed some local fish and more vegetables.
Review 21:WE loved being away from the crowds of Cefalu but still only 20 minutes away. We could see the sea on a clear day. The buildings are beautifully restored and the surrounding vineyards are captivating.
Review 22:We drive very low ride sportscars and the drainage gullys on the drive are tough on rigid suspensions.
Review 23:We arrived out of season and after a trek from Agrigento, nothing was too much trouble, we were eating at a friend's restaurant the first evening but the staff said that even though the restaurant was closed a snack could be arranged the following evening. Snack!!!!! An amazing selection of local gastronomy in the main restaurant with full silver service...... Cellar visit organised with no problem, wine shop opened when requested and when I mentioned that we would be renewing our Wedding vows in 2017 I was handed the key to their chapel...... This hotel has everything for everyone, we shall return with friends asap.
Review 24:Only let down by poor quality shower, a pity - only just suitable for rinsing hair in bath.
Review 25:Stunning location, vast beautifully kept building, amazingly helpful staff, restaurant with quality local wines from the estate. All such good value.
Review 26:Lovely location set in the middle of a vineyard. They offer a "tasting" menu of their own wines during dinner - take it, they are excellent. And the food was good too.
Review 27:The hotel's number one priority is clearly events, at the expense of their hotel guests. During our 5 night stay there were 2 weddings which kept us awake at night - so much for the peaceful surroundings! When we explained to a member of staff that we had been disturbed by the first event and were concerned that there may be others, we were told there would be another event the following night but that they would take steps to ensure we weren't disturbed - we heard nothing more about it and were disturbed yet again. Not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel.
Review 28:Beautiful hotel in a stunning setting with delicious food and wine.
Review 29:The resort is in the middle of a vineyard on a hill and getting to the surrounding villages requires getting in a car for 15-20 minutes. So not the place for those that want everything at their finger tips.
Review 30:Very attentive service. Great wines and food. Nice pool with outstanding view. Ideal place to relax, yet close to Cefalu' and Castelbuono which have interesting cultural events and a more active night life.
Review 31:Only down side was that they sometimes have weddings and it would be a hassel to find a parking space if you happened to return a bit late . Should reserve parking location for guests staying there when they have these private functions. Although one of the receptionists gave up her space and offered it to us. That was very nice of her
Review 32:It is set amongst lush vegitation of vineyards and olive groves. Very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are well appointed. Everywhere is impressively clean. Breakfast is very good. Staff all are very helpful. The views are breathtaking. Lunch and dinner at the Abbazia was very good. It is very close to Cefalu and Castelbuono, but believe me once there you would find it difficult to go anywhere. I highly recommend this accommodation and the various dining options. Will definitely go again
Review 33:Mosquitos - be prepared to take repellents with you. And also only thing we can complain about is that when they have a private function, it would be a problem to park your car. I expect that they should reserve parking for residents whilst having these functions. Having said that, one of the receptionist on duty went out of her way to offer us her car space for us. Thank you
Review 34:The setting is beautiful and peaceful. It is surrounded by acres of fields, vineyards and olive groves all around. The views are wonderful you can even see the islands of Lipari. The cleanliness all over is impressive, the staff extremely helpful and well educated. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed with all facilities . Wifi is very fast everywhere on site even by the pool. The food is exquisite . There is also a covered porch to park cars which is very convenient in the summer . It is close to Castelbuono a small town and also close to Cefalu which is a seaside delight with lots of restaurants. It was a very relaxing holiday and hope to visit again. Keep it up
Review 35:Nothing.
Review 36:A converted monastery with attached vineyard and oil production set up the mountainside 20 minutes from Cefalu and Castelbuono. Beautiful location with views over the coast from the pool and terrace. Lovely room with traditional furniture. Fantastic pool and an excellent restaurant - 4 course menu of Sicilian food changing every day with wines from the vineyard. You could eat as little or as much as you wanted. Beautiful breakfast on the terrace or breakfast room. Snacks at bar if required. The staff on reception were very helpful and the staff in the restaurant were faultless and friendly. Not a smart, modern hotel - the bar is not always manned - you just need to ring a bell and a waiter will wander along - but a characterful, relaxed and beautiful place.
Review 37:the food in the restaurant could and should be improved, my 'local' lamb was clearly straight out of the deep frieze, the bedrooms are comfortable but the public rooms are stuffy, lacking in atmosphere and feel unloved and dated
Review 38:lovely setting beautiful buildings superb vistas, comfortable and well appointed bedrooms, great pool and very nice and helpful staff overall.
Review 39:The service was excellent, the views superb and the food delicious. An oasis of relaxation amidst vineyards and mountains with view of the sea. We even saw the Aeolian islands from afar.
Review 40:Dinner in the restaurant was overpriced and we ate much better meals in Sicily for far less
Review 41:Amazing views
Review 42:Charming location, excellent cuisine and very attentive service. Excellent wines.
Review 43:service, comfort, attention to detail
Review 44:The grounds were lovely, the wine tasting excellent, the swimming pool delightful and the staff very kind and helpful. The location was beautiful!
Review 45:Nothing
Review 46:Location, tranquility, food, staff, pool, room...... Need I go on ;)
Review 47:Ambiance
Review 48:Beautiful hotel
Review 49:Not very good when out of summer season, little to do and not many places worth a visit.
Review 50:Spacious area and fantastic views.
Review 51:breakfast was quite poor.
Review 52:situation of the hotel, historic site
Review 53:Bit isolated location but fine with a car.
Review 54:Friendly staff Food superb Beautiful decor
Review 55:bit off the beacon track
Review 56:food and wine and pool
Review 57:nothing
Review 58:pool food wine tranquillity room service
Review 59:Room dark Being given the disabled room No bar staff Short handed at reception
Review 60:Location Beautiful buildings
Review 61:Staff is doing their utmost to make your stay the best it can be. Delicious wines that are a real bargain at their own restaurant!
Review 62:A group of English people with children arrived during our stay. These people were very loud, other guests moved away from the swimming pool for this. They must have been warned, because the second day was much better. The road up to the relais contains a lot of gutters across. Don't miss one, your car must be in first gear! To the hotel: why not place covers to these gutters?
Review 63:Excellent and beautiful location, beautiful view on surroundings, cozy ambiance, excellent service. Soon you will realize to stay and not leave for sightseeing because....just to stay here, read your book at the swimming pool, get an excellent bruschette for lunch, have your drink at the cozy courtyard terrace. And finish the day in the good restaurant. Tip for the restaurant: ask to wait 10 mins before serving the next course. And certainly enjoy the excellent wine!
Review 64:We had a room overlooking the pool which was spacious. We loved relaxing by the pool in the afternoon. Very nice breakfast which was served outside although hot water for tea was in insulated jugs - not fresh so not always hot enough. Dinner excellent - although not sure if desserts were home made
Review 65:Dinner in the restaurant was rather mediocer- Cefalú and Castelbuono offer a lot more No WLAN in the room only at the reception It's also a party location (daytime) and used for conferences- during break they gatherd in the Pool area to smoke and make their phone calls which made it rather noisy than relaxing.
Review 66:Placed admit a wineyard it's very peaceful and a great spot to relax
Review 67:nothing!
Review 68:Everything! Such a relaxing place. Staff very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, rooms were very nice and the setting was to die for. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a real get away holiday
Review 69:Excellent hotel, very good food and restaurant at night was excellent and not formal or stuffy. Plenty of sitting space and basement bar was very cool in summer heat.
Review 70:Hard to make a connection with the staff members Food was ok/average. Would have expected more from a 5* (self rated?) hotel
Review 71:Very remote and quiet location Romantic roooms Nice pool
Review 72:We enjoyed the receptionist in training but the main receptionist was bossy to both us and the other staff members...she was'nt very accomidating to us either. The rooms were cold and smelled musty and ants were crawling on the bedroom floor and bathroom. Although, the area was beautiful we would choose a more relaxing/accomidating place to stay.
Review 73:The facilty was pretty and the horseback riding that was offered by a nearby farm was amazing.
Review 74:There isn't much we didn't like :)
Review 75:Breath-taking views and the property itself is something out of this world!! The food was divine!! Castelbuono's city centre is really nice. It seems to be a really safe place as the locals let the children go out on their own. Would definitely recommend the hotel and the location to friends!
Review 76:The food did not meet our expectations. It was like the chef had left the building. Not value for money, neither were the wines. We tried the wine testing menu (middle level) and it was not good. Can not recommend the wines. Change the chef and have a wine testing menu only on the real good wines. The restaurant staff urged to get us out from the restaurant, pretending they wanted to show us the vinery. Bad performance. Dont´t hazard your trademark!
Review 77:The old buildings nicely renovated. Nice and Clean rooms. High standard of service. Nice staff.
Review 78:Although we told we had been upgraded to a junior suite we weredisappointed to find that neither of the two rooms, or bathrooms, hadadequate natural light - just two very small windows, one in each roomof the suite.
Review 79:The location, up a private road, was superb giving wonderful views ofthe surrounding countryside and even a glimpse of the sea. Therestaurant was excellent as was the service. Tomasso, one of thewaiters, was excellent and also very funny! Breakfast was moderate - wehad better breakfasts at other hotels during our trip.
Review 80:The hotel is some distance from the nearest town so better for longer stays than one nighters, probably
Review 81:Hotel a little difficult to find but well worth it when we arrived. We were upgraded to a luxury room which was extremely large, comfortable and luxurious. Great dinner, reasonably priced, and breakfast; lovely walks. SOme of the facilities, such as gym were not available for some reason but we did not really mind.
Review 82:Not quite enough detailed information about surrounding walks, though all were findable by the intrepid.
Review 83:Combination of luxury and informality. Wonderful view. Good walking country. Very big bedrooms. Helpful and friendly staff. Good food on site. Shade for parking the car and sun by the pool. Wine made on the estate.
Review 84:Not easy to access, but normal considering it was a monastery in the past. Nicely renovated, but a bit too big and too commercial to feel really cosy.
Review 85:This place is quite nice, really everything is present for comfort. A bit too crowdy to be cosy during the holiday season, but it's a choice to make. The environment is gorgeous...and some beautiful small villages in the neighborhood to enjoy !
Review 86:Dinner was disappointing. We both had seafood ravioli and the fish on top of the ravioli looked a mess and mine had a piece of fin in it. The veal was tough and the salad uninteresting.
Review 87:The room was extremely comfortable and the staff could not have been more helpful.
Review 88:Having to get out of the car at the security gate and ring reception to open said gate every time we returned to the hotel.
Review 89:Courteous efficient friendly staff, excellent food and fantastic setting.
Review 90:Mediocre breakfast-didn't replenish dishes that ran out. Poor quality pillows-very lumpy-and not up to the standard of the hotel.
Review 91:Fabulous setting
Review 92:The lack of amenities, e.g. no internet in our room, and lack of entertainment options, e. g. no dvd players/dvds; the thin walls between rooms in our particular building; the unfriendly head waiter in the restaurant in the evenings; The hotel was full of elderly couples--it felt like a retirement home. There was a festival on the grounds on Sunday that felt more like an intrusion of privacy.
Review 93:The countryside, the desk staff.
Review 94:We had to walk up almost 3 flights of stairs. There was no elevator or staff to help us. Both my husband and I had to carry our luggage ourselves. This was truly a shortfall.
Review 95:The setting was incredible. The views of the country side and sea were breathtaking. It was peaceful with the only sounds of horses, roosters, birds, and donkeys delightfully breaking the quiet. The breakfast was organic and local, fresh products.
Review 96:Wine store was closed the entire 3 days we spent there. Difficulty getting a wine tour. The pool was closed for repairs and it was something we'd looked forward to. No wi-fi in the rooms.
Review 97:The staff. The beautiful grounds and the abbey.
Review 98:The food was not very good. The service was a bit odd. Almost as if it they don't understand how to run the business.
Review 99:The view is amazing. The rooms are huge.
Review 100:If I'm being fussy, I'd say the water pressure in the shower was a little low.
Review 101:Lovely relaxing stay, beautiful views and countryside. Fabulous food. Helpful and attentive staff. Large well decorated rooms. Good facilities.
Review 102:No tea making facilities in room.
Review 103:Excellent service from very friendly staff. Lovely food in the restaurant. Large comfortable rooms and amazing scenery..
Review 104:Superb location Very friendly and helpful staff Excellent food (breakfast & dinner) Good wines Very clean facilities Very relaxing environment
Review 105:Bathrooms weren't heated as well as the lounge downstairs.
Review 106:The solitude on a cold February day. The views from the stairway to the top of the hill.
Review 107:Plenty off space to sit about, both inside and out. Very nice dining room and not formal.
Review 108:Solitude, atmosphere, facilities,
Review 109:Approach roads very bumpy
Review 110:Lovely pool Superb wines Friendly staff
Review 111:stay was too short there!
Review 112:the place is absolutely amazing. great service good food. relaxing atmosphere
Review 113:Helpful and very professional friendly staff. Amazing views down to the sea. Lovely setting. Enjoyed the food and wine too.
Review 114:This is our second stay at Santa Anastasia...lovely place full of character and great staff.
Review 115:First of all you will feel (2) landscapes (3) quie (4) air (5) cuisine and (1) the most important thing - friendly staff!
Review 116:Location out in the country.Beautiful architecture and many relaxation areas, Great meals in dining and breakfast room.
Review 117:Truly a magnificent place, beautiful scenery, gorgeous establishment, great food, helpful staff. You cannot go wrong here. Five stars in every way.
Review 118:Beautifully restored monestary. Dining is 5 Star! Staff is very helpful and friendly. Relaxing, quiet vineyard retreat.
Review 119:If you can tell something negative about this, stay home.
Review 120:Everything. This place is beyond every expectation
Review 121:Helpfull and friendly staff , quite, relaxed atmosphere, good food, clean rooms, well worth a visit.
