Reviews for St. Martin's Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:Extremely convenient for ferry. Very friendly welcome and useful information provided. Room well appointed, shower was a little tricky to work and the wooden floor in bedroom not to everyone's taste (from a comfort/noise perspective) but no complaints. The location and price are very hard to beat.
Review 2:The booking was not clear, I probably should have read it more carefully but I booked for a family , ie two adults and two children, the room that we got had two double beds. We were not expecting this and our nights sleep was consequently not good with one of us on the floor. I was also under the impression that we had booked breakfast - but again I was mistaken. This is obviously a common mistake as the B and B has a booking form up on its notice board with the breakfast info circled but it was not clear.
Review 3:The location
Review 4:plumbing a little noisy in the night! Confusion as the owner misunderstood our return date, however was able to accommodate us nevertheless.
Review 5:very convenient for the ferry at the beginning and end of the trip.
Review 6:The stay was not a 'bad experience', it simply lacked the 'cosy' factor! The TV was miniscule for the size of the room. This is a mini factor in the over experience!
Review 7:Very convenient for the Ferry. Very reasonably priced.
Review 8:Very friendly host who was very welcoming on arrival and the room was very comfortable. Ideal location to spend a night before getting on or off the ferry. Will stay again next time for sure.
Review 9:The staff were not terribly friendly. Not readily available and definitely made it clear he was not to be disturbed. Ferry leaves early but to have breakfast and make it in time would be nearly impossible.. No eftpos... This is not clear during the booking process. And breakfast is not included. Not really a 'bed and breakfast' yes it's cheap accom but the Name is definitely misleading. Glorified backpackers or guest house is a better description. Terrible wifi. Ok for overnight stay.
Review 10:The location to the ferry port... Very convenient. It was clean but cosy.
Review 11:Walk a few hundred yards from the hotel and you have the most marvellous view of the harbour ; at night the view is magic, if you like that kind of thing. And yet there is no hint of the lights, or noise, of a busy ferryport at the hotel : absolutely quiet.
Review 12:The address on booking.com form didn't find us the hotel. Could say "next to Bank of Ireland" or give postal code. We telephoned and the kind man was waiting for us on the doorstep when we drove back.
Review 13:Location, close to the ferry. Quiet Lots of parking Good recommendations about where to have dinner.
Review 14:Owner was very helpful, guided us to an excellent pub, where the welcome and food was amazing. The location was brilliant for the ferry, would definitely use again and recommend.
Review 15:The proprietor was especially friendly and helpful, and the location was excellent for us as we were taking the ferry the following morning. There is also a lovely conservatory style sitting room.
Review 16:Very friendly and helpful host with many valuable tips for a trip through Ireland. Comfortable rooms, tasty and copious breakfast. A warm welcome to Ireland for the two of us!
Review 17:John the owner couldn't do enough for us. A fabulous host he provided us with a lift from the station as it was a late arrival. He also provided us with advice and tips to make our exploration of the Wexford area well worthwhile. A great location very close to Rosslaire Europort and a great base to stay whilst we explored Wexford. Thank you John hope we will be back soon
Review 18:The town facilities, sea-walk, and sea-front hotels of Rosslare were very poorly kept, or boarded up. Not a good first (or last) impression of Ireland. The most attractive and well maintained building in Rosslare was the church. The restaurant services were not great and the main hotel and its landscaping were quite neglected. To top things off, the owner of the B & B did not encourage guests to take the breakfast, for which he was requesting an extra charge. Not exactly a "true" B&B.
Review 19:The owner was very friendly and helpful.
Review 20:Soulless place. Modern pine everywhere and quite noisy. No bath only shower. Not good value for 110 euros a night. He only takes cash.
Review 21:Very convenient for ferry.
Review 22:Only a short drive from the ferry. We found the host, John, friendly and very helpful with advice, maps and brochures on travelling in Ireland. Accommodation and facilities for guests, including the breakfast was excellent.
Review 23:We had an overnight stay arriving late in the evening. John was very attentive and drove us to a fantastic local pub so that we could have a meal and also arranged for us to get some cash as the only ATM machine was out of use.The room was just beautiful, charming character and very clean. Our brief visit was delightful.
Review 24:I felt the continental breakfast was a little overpriced at 7.50 euros per person on top of the room cost. There were no croissants of pastries included.
Review 25:Very friendly and helpful host, very clean and comfortable room and an excellent location 2 mins drive from ferry port.
Review 26:Wifi was so slow that it was very difficult to use. The TV in the room was the size of a shoe box! Get a few frypans and offer the full Irish for breakfast.
Review 27:Handy location. Friendly service and helpful advice on the local area.
Review 28:John, the owner was brilliant and sorted out last evening in Ireland for us within a few minutes. He couldn't do enough to help and we are most grateful to him, The location for the ferry is fantastic. Would definitely stay here again
Review 29:The room was quite warm and there was only one toilet roll left for a family of 5 .
Review 30:It had a very good location to where we needed to be. And the owner was very helpful
Review 31:Gentleman who greeted us was extremely helpful couldn't do enough to make our stay anymore comfortable. Gave great advice about were to eat and drink and how to get to ferry .would highly recommend this b and b
Review 32:nothing
Review 33:The accommodation is of a very high and aesthetically pleasing character - warm wood decor and excellent display of fine art throughout. Our bedroom was characterised by an art decor influence and was spacious both in design and in effect The owner, John, is exceptionally accommodating and goes out of his way to make excellent recommendations concerning some local restaurants - including arranging booking if required. He is rightly proud of his sanctuary and is careful to maintain a high standard. The breakfasts are of the continental variety and are very appropriate for those embarking on an early morning ferry voyage. For those who have more time on their hands full Irish type breakfasts are available close at hand.
Review 34:John is a dear. We really enjoyed our stay. John works a lot, but he always took his time to chat with us and to make us feel welcome. He showed our kids around in the garden and told them about his pets. Our son would have immediately adopted John as his grandfather...He is a very nice man with interesting tipps of things to do and where to go. The house is beautiful and very clean. Breakfast was delicious and more then enough....Dear John, thank you so much for the time you shared with us.
Review 35:Disappointing for the price- there was no breakfast, especially as we were travelling as a family and by ferry early in morning.Overpriced!!
Review 36:Convenient to ferry terminal.
Review 37:Nothing to dislike :-)
Review 38:The situation of the hotel and parking facilities are first class. Host was very welcoming, helpful and obliging. Rooms are fresh and beautifully decorated. Will definitely stay here again.
Review 39:Nothing at all to fault!
Review 40:Absolutely fantastic start to our trip! John was an absolute gentleman from the minute we got there, from recommendations on where to eat to dropping us to the port in the morning, he really couldn't of been any more welcoming! I see bad reviews just because you have to pay cash but there is an ATM right next door and John is an exceptionally patient person, so no problem at all! The property is beautiful, the rooms were extremely clean and beds were comfortable too! Fantastic location, just minutes from the port! Would definitely stay again if in the area! Thanks a million again John!
Review 41:Probably wouldn't take the breakfast option if we did it again.
Review 42:This was a perfect place for the ferry terminal for our last night of the tour of Ireland. Lovely house and less than 2 minutes drive to the Ferry
Review 43:Great location near Rosslare Harbour, walking distance from Hotel Rosslare if you wanted to leave the car and go for a drink. Plenty of other pubs and places to eat withing driving distant. Rooms spotless, overall we had an excellant stay!
Review 44:Very well greeted and assisted in learning about the neighbourhood. Very good bedroom for my family of 5. Very clean and easy going - a very enjoyable stay overall.
Review 45:John gave us the biggest of welcomes, his informative, helpful manor gave us the perfect start to our touring holiday. All the facility where faultless and he even took us to and picked us up from the local pub for nothing. He is a diamond we would stay again and I would recommend that you do too.
Review 46:No bad experience's
Review 47:Normally a B&B is somewhere that allows you to sleep and eat in comfort while you enjoy other activities during a holiday. I can honestly say that staying at St. Martins not only provided this but added to our Holiday. Exceptional facilities, comfortable beds (which can be hard to find), a beautiful property, generous breakfasts, friendly and helpful staff, ample parking and a central location are the reasons myself and my partner found this B&B head and shoulders above many others we have stayed in. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in south east wexford
Review 48:We arrived earlier than the 4pm checking due to the timing of the bus arrival and looking to just to drop off the luggage. The owner was very rude and did not make us feel welcome
Review 49:We were made very welcome from start to finish. The facilities were all we could ask for and this b & b is in a quiet street, but only yards from the Europort access road.
Review 50:Very friendly welcome and extremely helpful regarding our trip, places to go to etc! Also (and how nice/kind is this)The landlord taxied us to a lovely bar/restaurant and picked us up in the rain .Superb!
Review 51:NOTHING
Review 52:The quality or the room and the propritair was very helpful in the choice of a restaurant (excellent). He even made the reservation himself by phone.
Review 53:Wifi worked, continental breakfast included, the owner shuttled us to the port in the morning. Very friendly Exactly what we needed for the night before taking the ferry.
Review 54:I had the most awful experience in staying in this B&B. I wasverbally attacked by the owner and was so frightened by the interactionI had to report the incidence to the Gardai. The reason: I was delayedand turn up later than planned and he was made aware of this.
Review 55:Nothing
Review 56:Wi Fi worked very intermittently
Review 57:Breakfast was great. Don't use Google Maps to find as it directs you through a non existent path.Just look up on a town map- its a very handy location for the ferry.
Review 58:We arrived late afternoon by ferry after a full travel day. Our host was a fount of information, his property is grand and we felt very comfortable.
Review 59:There was nothing we could fault.
Review 60:The proprietor was extremely helpful and gave useful advice on local amenities and places of interest worth a visit. Good selection of brochures available to read.
Review 61:A great reception, easy checkin, quiet night, early and enjoyable breakfast. Travelling by public transport - St Martin's was a very short distance from the station arriving on the evening train from Dublin, and a short walk down to the port for the ferry the following morning.
Review 62:The owner was lovely, very welcoming and knowledgeable. The room was large and the bed was really comfortable. Ideally located to get to Rosslare ferryport
Review 63:We had to get into the car to get a decent dinner, although it was worth it.
Review 64:This simple, clean B&B is just a couple if minutes of the port. On arrival you are greeted by warm Irish hospitality, John couldn't be more helpful giving advice on where to eat and even making the booking.
Review 65:Very clean, spacious rooms. Host was very friendly and happy to advise us honestly on local places to eat. He even gave us a bag of apples for our journey and travel advice! Easy to find and very close to the port. Nice place to stay.
Review 66:Me and my partner stayed here for 1 night after coming from the ferry. We were greeted very politely by john . He had the heating on in our room so it was nice and cosy . The room was quiet spacious and well supplied with pillows and covers . The bed looked lovely but only down side was a little uncomfortable . The breakfast was lovely and plenty of it . We would definitely recommend this b&b and we will back again . Thanks for everything john hopefully see yous soon .
Review 67:I arrived to a very friendly and warm welcome which was much appreciated. The room was warm and comfortable with good facilities. I was very happy to have chosen such a nice place to stay.
Review 68:The place felt mean-spirited: a tiny television on the wall smaller than my laptop screen! The owner insisted on cash on arrival - no cards (which is ridiculous in a B&B). No breakfast was offered (B&?). There was a teeny shower cubical with one of those awful water-saving heads (really not needed in wet Ireland) which trickled out luke-warm water. The room was clean and tidy but way too small for two beds.
Review 69:The room was immaculately clean and the place is clearly well maintained. Our host was congenial and helpful.
Review 70:Disappointed to find that dining room was locked at 8.30 am. No sign of anyone so had to leave without breakfast. Pretty poor we thought, wont be staying there again.
Review 71:Overpriced breakfast, and I think my bed was broken. As a result I didn't sleep a wink, which was the whole purpose of staying overnight for the morning ferry
Review 72:Location
Review 73:The shower wasn't very powerful, minor quibble!!
Review 74:Loved the friendly welcome John gave us. Very warm without being over the top. Room was clean and spacious and comfortable.
Review 75:We found every thing far beyond what we expected, nice spacious room, Good value breakfast , very comfortable bed and staff were most freindly. As we visited out of main season we found we couldnt get a bus train and a problem getting a taxi so we returned to st Martins to look for more taxi numbers and John the proprietor came along and just said give me 10 minutes and ill take u there which he did for which we where very thankful Every bit of advice we recieved from him was exactly what we needed. So we would like to thank John and his staff for making our two nights so perfect Annette & Adrian
Review 76:Couldnt be cleaner. It was perfecly clean. Never seen this clean hotel. John, the owner was very kind and helped us a lot to find a restautant. The cleaning lady was kind too. She brought a blanket for us when I told her that my mom has a cold.
Review 77:The landlord was extremely friendly and helpful. We couldn't have felt more at home. The breakfast was very generous with a wide selection. The house itself was beautiful, rich in character. No complaints!
Review 78:We stayed one night and John was very obliging. Offered to give us a lift to Strand and nice friendly welcome. B+B was spotless and beds very comfortable. Good hearty Irish Breakfast.Highly recommend St. Martins
Review 79:We had a faucet that did not want to turn off. The owner was very apologetic and stated that he plans to replace it immediately.
Review 80:We are regular visitors at St. Martin's, and we appreciate the convenience and friendly operation of this B&B. They are just up the hill from the ferry port and located in not far from Wexford. The facilities are clean and comfortable, and the staff could not be more helpful. They gave convenient parking on site.
Review 81:Having too little time to look around the area and no opportunity to stay longer
Review 82:Our host went out of his way to be helpful. He recommended a restaurant which was excellent - he booked us a table and organised a cab for us. How good is that?
Review 83:Need to travel for good food.Local restaurant was basically fast food.
Review 84:Convenient location. Accommodation was good meeting all our requirements. Owner helpful and advised on restaurant choices in the area.
Review 85:John went out of his way to guide us to the right place we had to get to. He gave us his contact number and insisted we call him if we had any problems.
Review 86:Breakfast was poor. Would be nice to have fresh milk in room, teaspoons and glasses rather than floppy plastic beakers and a stick.
Review 87:Location and. Cleanliness. Beautiful house with excellent parking. Owner very helpful in suggesting and arranging venue for evening meal.
Review 88:Breakfast was quite basic - no choice of juice, a few oranges but no other fruit. Would have liked pastries or croissants? Payment requested up front, but had to request receipt. Ordinary!
Review 89:Location was good, local information was helpful
Review 90:Would have preferred a later checkout...wasn't the hosts fault as our room needed to be prepared for the next guest.
Review 91:Host was friendly...even offered a ride to a local pub.
Review 92:Absolutely no complaints.
Review 93:We have always found St. Martin's beautifully comfortable. The beds are very good and we always have our best night's sleep on our trips to Ireland. Early breakfast is so efficiently run and the location is perfect for the docks.
Review 94:The room and whole B&B was clean. Our host chatted us up upon welcome and made us feel at home. Breakfast excellent and filling. We have no complaints whatsoever. A Gem!!
Review 95:wifi did not work in the room breakfast could improve
Review 96:clean, comfortable, late check in, tourism advice from owner, convenient for ferry, good orange juice
Review 97:i stayed in saint martins recently 19th to 22nd with my wife aileen and teenage daughter hannah, i found john the owner to be very welcoming and helpfull in local imformation advising on places to eat that were reasonable and cheap drink in the local social club . a lovely stay.
Review 98:Maybe a bit too business like
Review 99:Location is good close to ferry port but not noisy and reasonable views Well run B and B with good advice about places to visit Clean and comfortable
Review 100:Host was hospitable and welcoming. Recommended a great family pub for an evening meal. Delicious Irish breakfast and comfortable beds. Good to find a decent-sized family room that will take 2 adults and 3 children.
Review 101:Breakfast was not included in our deal - we missed the small print that it was room only. Also - the bill had to be settled with cash.
Review 102:Having wifi and three beds in a family bedroom.
Review 103:Wi-fi a bit "flaky" Creaky floorboards made us feel a bit concious when walking about.
Review 104:Owner very helpful and pleasant. Good advice about where to get food from nearby. Clean and comfortable room. Only a short drive from port so ideal location. Adequate parking. Nicely furnished. Handy leaflets available on places to go.
Review 105:I liked everything about it!
Review 106:The room was quiet and very comfortable and spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Good off road parking. The breakfast was great with quick efficient service. It is just a few minutes from the ferry yet was very quiet. It was really excellent value for money and we would stay again.
Review 107:Expensive for what you get. Not much atmosphere to the place. Closer to a hostel than a B&B.
Review 108:Really convenient to get to the early ferries from Rosslare Europort.
Review 109:Owner is very friendly (probably not that much if you act in a "I'm the customer so I'm the boss" way :-) ). Gave us a lot of info on the area and globally on Ireland. Clean, quiet.
Review 110:We were charged extra for the breakfast (7.50 Euro per person), which was not good value and made the B&B option very expensive. Rosslare is not really a highlight, really only useful if you are catching the ferry. If arriving from ferry, continue on for an hour or so closer to Cork area...
Review 111:John was a great host and the facilities were good.
Review 112:We had been lead to believe on booking.com that breakfast was included. It wasn't at all clear that it was not included.
Review 113:Very chatty and friendly member of staff to greet us and give us lots of information about the area. Clean, comfortable room and excellent bathroom.
Review 114:Restored my faith in using B&Bs again !! Great location, helpful staff and good food. Great for a a family with rooms that sleep 5. We shall return.
