Reviews for HI - Mitzpe Ramon Hostel

Review 1:Across the street from the visitors center and we got up at sunrise to see the sunrise and Ibex. Yeah

Review 2:There was a city wide power outage and they gave us anything we needed. They had to get up around 2:00 am to shut off the alarms. They took 50% off since we didn't have power. Breakfast was great and the location was amazing.

Review 3:It has a lot of stairs, and you have to move from one building, to the breakfast in another building.

Review 4:The staff was very nice, and also the location, very close to the Machtesh

Review 5:The annex is for families, unfortunately on our second night a family with two children, a boy of about 6/7 and a girl around 5 years old were in the two rooms next to us. Their behaviour was nothing short of disgraceful. The girl was whining, as kids are, particularly when they are tired, but the parents screamed at the kids and each other for over three hours, until around 11:30 pm at night. The children did not seem to respect their parents or have consideration for anybody else staying there, but the parents were by far worse than the children. I can only imagine what the children will be like as teenagers, with parents who are part of the 'me' generation. I put the flag up, so to speak when they left the following morning, and enjoyed the rest of our stay with families that exhibited manners.

Review 6:The bedrooms in the annex are fabulous. The lady on reception was awesome, and the young lad and girl in the breakfast room were great, and worked hard to keep the place clean and tidy. The location is fabulous, overlooking the Ramon Crater, and within easy reach of Ben Gurions house and burial place. Some great hiking to be had around the crater. Great supermarket across the street.

Review 7:Perfect place if you look for a modest and clean place to sleep , while during the day you are out for trips . The place has no swimming pool, but is walking distance from Mitzpe Ramon observatory .

Review 8:The rooms are very simple - as if besides the new flat TV, they haven't been renovated for many years.

Review 9:The location is great - it's a 10 minute walk to an amazing view of the crater. The personal are nice and friendly.

Review 10:try to find for the first time, booking.com directions were wrong

Review 11:very close to crater edge to observe the sunrise, very good breakfast with big choice of vegetarian food, nice personel, big room with nice bathroom, close to small shopping centre. - excellent value for money ratio

Review 12:Bathrooms are cramped.

Review 13:Friendly, clean, spacious, since we booked double rooms with bath, and had additional rooms we could use. We loved walking out to see the sun rise over the rim and the many ibex out at dawn.

Review 14:The name of the hostel in booking is different from the real name of the hostel (that is part of the Israel Youth Hostel Association). The geographic coordinates in booking are totally wrong.

Review 15:Nice staff. Greta position to see sunset and sunrise. Clean. Good to travel alone or with a family.

Review 16:We booked a room for 2 person. We got a room with 5 beds (2 two-tier beds and 1 double bed). Not bad, but not very cosy.

Review 17:It is situated just 2 steps to Makhtesh Ramon. Clean but fit rather to backpackers. Very kind personal.

Review 20:Good private room. Location of Makhtesh Ramon outside back door was splendid. Minutes away (walking) from bars/restaurants. Breakfast was very nice for budget accommodation. Can be inside makhtesh within minutes (driving). Staff helpful and informed. Would book again when in Mitzpe Ramon.

Review 21:- it was very very very hard to find the hostel, because the address+ name were unknown to anyone in mitzpe Ramon! Later we found out, that it is the Youth Hostel!! Would be nice if the name could be changed on booking.com!!!!!it took us over an hour to find it - reception was closed nearly all the time, so it was not possible to store luggage during the day, only till noon.

Review 22:- very modern, nice and quiet room

Review 23:I got a personal unit, it cost like $70 a night. I don't feel I got this kind of value for the unit. First of all, the staffing was uneven. Some of the staff were nice and did their best to help with broken English, but others were downright rude. For example, I was sick and got some chicken soup packet to make at the hostel. Most hostels I have stayed in have a kitchen area you can use - at the very least a microwave and something to make hot water. This hostel didn't and when I asked for a plastic bowl to make my soup in (which I knew they had in their kitchen from breakfast), they refused to give me one. It was petty and mean-spirited. My room was also underwhelming. I was there in the winter, but the room was very drafty, so even with the heater on, the temperature was uneven and the room was not comfortable. I think it worsened my cold having the hot heater air blowing on me while at the same time freezing cold air was coming in through the drafty windows and the door. Third, the room was so small that the bed took up the entire room, there was nowhere to put my bag. It was clean overall, but I was a little disgusted by a suspicious looking liquid underneath the toilet in my room. Overall disappointed and would not book this hostel again.

Review 24:I enjoyed the closeness to the Ramon Crater visitor center and proximity to the only restaurant in town. Breakfast in the morning was good.

Review 25:Had a three-bed room all for myself, so very good value indeed. Hotel standard, the room was more like a small studio (with bathroom and kitchenette) than a traditional hostel dorm. All immaculately clean. Big breakfast buffet.

Review 26:Since we stayed at the hostel in the "off season", we got what was essentially 2 rooms for the price of one. The staff was very courteous and attentive, and the breakfast was phenomenal! As an added bonus, we were greeted by a herd of Nubian ibex (wild goats) from the Negev in the parking lot of the property in the morning. It was a spectacular sight to behold.

Review 27:-the Adress of the Hostel is wrong, the Navigation System bring's you to a wrong place. Please check the Adress in advance

Review 28:-friendly and helpful stuff -amazing Location -clean and modern rooms

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:A really welcoming place thanks to Lena and Mariana who manage the reception of this outstanding youth hostel. we spent six marvellous days there for the second time. The restaurant is also excellent thanks to Hussein and the charming Beduin staff.

Review 31:nothing

Review 32:the helpfulness of the staff

Review 33:Breakfast food was salty and not very good.

Review 34:Beautiful location and friendly staff.

Review 35:Excellent location Breakfast is just great Clean room and facilities

Review 36:No English spoken few information

Review 37:Staff allowed us to enter the room at 11 am

Review 38:many noisy kids

Review 39:the price was much too high

Review 40:the breakfast was great, location is also great

Review 41:I had a room to myself, the staff was helpful, and I asked for a packed breakfast and it was enormous!

Review 42:the breakfast was just adequate, would have liked a few fruits..

Review 43:so close to the crater and the visitor center.

Review 44:Difficult to find Personal very cold

Review 45:Nice and clean

Review 46:late night noise of youthful guests

Review 47:proximity to the crater & breakfast

Review 48:Rather high $, no signs how to get there at bus station

Review 49:Beautiful room!!! Even provide amenities!

Review 50:Excellent location, nice breakfast, friendly staff

Review 51:COMFORTABLE BEDS IN SMALL ROOMS , NICE BATHROOM WITH BIG SHOWER.PRIVATE PARKING WITH SECURITY . NICE BREAKFAST . GOOD SITUATION . FRIENDLY ENGLISH SPEAKING STAFF . I DO RECOMMAND !!! FOR THIS PRICE , !

Review 52:We were afraid to use the refrigerator in the room. When we arrived it was unplugged and when I tried to connect it I saw that the plug is not properly installed in the wall.

Review 53:Very good location, right next to the Visitors Center. Nice and clean, breakfast was excellent, staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 54:Wonderful Israeli buffet breakfast, but some days you can be elbow-to-elbow with school kids or tour groups using the hostel as a base for visting the Ramon Crater. Nice two-room unit would sleep up to 5 people, sharing a nice compartmented bathroom (toilet, sink, shower all separate). Just steps to trails and the amazing Ramon Disocvery Center which is a memorial to Ilan Ramon, the Israeli astronaut who died in the explosion of the American Columbia spaceship. But the crater was there and named Ramon for decades. It's exciting to see Israeli trainer jets swoop though the crater -- actually above but it seems like you could reach out and touch them.

Review 55:Rather expensive for what it offers, but that's the way it is in Israel, breakfast is a mistake

Review 56:Good location at the edge of the crater, clean rooms, comfortable beds, wifi

Review 57:The English name outside the Hostel does not include the words 'Mitzpe Ramon' and only says 'Hostel and Guesthouse'. So for first-time visitors this can be confusing because one is not sure how many hostels are in the town and if this is your place. The local taxi driver also had to phone reception first because he wasn't sure himself.

Review 58:The location which is right next to the Mitzpe Ramon Information Centre and lookout points cannot be better. Close to bus stop to Be'er Sheva.

Review 59:For USD 140.00 per night it was VERY basic and the breakfast was OK nothing fancy. Had to make your own bed. No carpert on the floor. TV reception was poor. The check in staff were not friendly. There is no sign to find the place and it was quite hard to find.

Review 60:It was the cheapest accomidation we could find in Mitzpe Ramon

Review 61:Beware of Shabbat in Mitzpe Ramon - however good supermarket close to hostel, stock up to survive very easy.

Review 62:big buffet breakfast included. Room very modern and almost out of place but in a good way, staff willing to resolve issues, but the number 1 positive is the location - Macktesh Ramon outside the door and all the walking tracks within less than an hour drive.

Review 63:I did not understand that even if you were staying 2 - 3 people in a room, there would be five single beds in the room. No double beds or way to put two together.

Review 64:Location was next to the Mitze Ramon Visitor Center. Rooms were basic but clean. Breakfast was really good.

Review 65:We were in two youth hostels in Israel, they have the same modern, friendly and practical furniture, good atmosphere, easy check in, free w-lan, central locations, helpful personal. Reliable and clean, they are superior to other accomodations in the same price category. As family we always bacame a room on our own, or two communicating.

Review 66:Room was tiny for the four of us, and it was a six-bed room. The shower was terrible and the bathroom wasn't great. The breakfast was filling but nothing to write home about, although my husband thought it was good for a youth hostel.

Review 67:Great location, clean rooms, comfortable beds, staff came quickly when we had a problem. View was amazing. A perfect place if all you need is a bed and breakfast.

Review 68:Great location on the edge of the crater. Staff was friendly and helpful. Secure private parking lot. well maintained room and good value for relatively low cost.

Review 69:breakfast was limited variety and not fresh. Some hot dishes were cold. rooms had very thin walls. Disturbance caused by neighbors was not attended to by staff.

Review 70:You can skip the breakfast.

Review 71:Great location, just at the rim of the crater. Room was spotless cleanand again since we travel with GrandMa is nice they have big roomoptions, we reserved a quad-room, great space and good value.

Review 72:Sometimes would be noisy due to youth groups. By the way, every time when we accommodated in IYHA hostels, they always located us as away as possible from noisy youth groups.

Review 73:Excellent location close to spectacular Ramon Crater. Friendly staff.

Review 74:This is not a Hostel for backpackers or just independent travellers. Itis a member of the 'international' Youth Hostels Association, but when on arrival I needed issues to sort out (access to wifi, hotwater, kitchen, etc.) there was no one who could speak English wellenough to make sense of my questions or I of their answers. It was sofrustrating, especially in the evening after a long tiring journey. Ihad to interrupt a party of young students having dinner and ask ifsomeone spoke Hebrew and any other language to help with interpreting.Likewise there was no information whatsoever on absolutely anything, notonly about the Hostel itself but about Mitzpe Ramon or the area. Formost of the short time I decided to stay there the place was crawlingwith shouting kids running wild all over the place. It was the sameevery evening after long treks on the Negev and on the Ramon crater. Ifound myself banging my fists and even shouting in sheer desperation toachieve the minimum of information about anything. It´s not that staffwere ill-mannered or not willing, it was just that they were non suitedand incompetent (but for the morning manager) for an ´international´hostel. Tv offered only Hebrew programmes. Not a place to relax in theevening, just your bed. Not a place to mix with fellow travellers.

Review 75:Very good breakfast. I would have liked the possibility of an earliertime but it was not possible. Comfortable accommodation. Very wellpositioned in town, very close to the rim of the crater.

Review 76:Initial impression was like, "oh no." but we really liked our spacious, comfortable room.

Review 77:The "facilities" of our individual room, bathroom, were excellent, very clean, comfortable. Great location. Would stay here again. The facility of the Youth Hostel in general, a little run down. The dining room was fine.

Review 78:The accomodation was very good, for very good price, also good breakfast inclusive. The location is ideal for all who intend to make trips into Makhtesh Ramon crater, which itself is wanderland, worth of spending more than just one or two nights around!

Review 79:We liked everything. Good location. Good shower. Excellent breakfast.

Review 80:Incredible view of the crater from the room, really clean and confortable.

Review 81:Location, location, location...

Review 82:Limited TV channels. Some channels were off during our visit.

Review 83:Good location. Good shower. Excellent breakfast.

Review 84:Typical Hostel, many beds, average, very good breakfast, tidy, but not super-tidy

Review 85:to expensive for the comfort breakfeast without any charme

Review 86:excellent place near the Ramon crater

Review 87:parking for cars is rather distant and not secure

Review 88:location

Review 89:bunk bed

Review 90:good shower television breakfast

Review 91:very good location and fine breakfast

Review 92:Double Room instead of dorms at no extra charge :) Great breakfast too.

Review 93:Excellent location, clean, comfortable, very good restaurant on premises.

Review 94:The room was very cold (February)

Review 95:Very nice, fridge, hot water for tea
