Reviews for Desert Home
Review 1:Chen Hadar, owner/operator of Dessert Home, is a lovely person operating a fabulous getaway location for couples seeking the quiet of the Negev desert in simple yet comfortably and quaintly elegant surroundings. She is most attentive and responsive to guests' needs, and anticipates and accommodates in a way that enables you to really enjoy the facility, as well as the offerings of Mitzpe Ramon and the attractions of the Ramon Crater and its environs. Most highly recommend!
Review 2:The only thing I did not like was it was too cold in late December to sit out on the lovely back porch and look out at the desert.
Review 3:We had a wonderful time in Mitzpe Ramon and Chen's Desert Home was special. Very clean and extra care taken with everything in the room from sea salts in the shower to cookies when we arrived, and if it pay a bit extea, you can open a bottle of local wine. The breakfast each morning was such a treat I would go Just for the breakfast. It's in a residential neighborhood so it's quiet and close to the Spice Route quarter that has some cute restaurants, galleries and music. Next time we are in Mitzpe Ramon I would stay here for sure. It's a special place. Thank you Chen.
Review 4:The fact that you cannot use a credit card to pay for your room hasn't been clear enough. It would have helped if the staff could bring that to our attention while showing us to the room.
Review 5:The service was great, the was spacious and clean. Great porch.
Review 6:No complaints
Review 7:Very comfortable room. Delicious breakfast tray delivered to your room along with warm fresh bread. You cook your own eggs and make coffee or tea when you want it. Enough food for a later light meal.Quiet area of Mitzpe Ramon
Review 8:Lovely room, equipped with everything you would need for vacation. Yummy breakfast that you would take a photo of before eating. Very welcoming owner.
Review 9:that we only stayed 1 night
Review 10:Everything was super. The desert was one of the nicer, cooler places to visit in this summer-heat wave time in israel. The welcome by the hostess was warm & honest. The accomodation had everything you would want, or at least what we wanted :-) A relaxed place with a nice balcony on which to drink your glass of wine overlooking the desert. We will surely be coming back!
Review 11:Very nice host who proved to be very helpful. Nice view on the desert from the terrace with a wonderful fresh breakfast. We requested it for 7am and got it sharp. We were able to go hiking until 2pm came back for a shower before heading back north thanks to our host who let us the room until we were rested and fresh enough to travel.
Review 12:Single complaint: curtains do not block out the strong morning sun. As a result, we woke much earlier than we wanted to...
Review 13:Everything was lovely & perfect.
Review 14:We had a very pleasant stay, no complaints. The Hot tub could have been cleaner but we didn't use it. The other problem with the hot tub was that it was right outside out room so when the couple next door used it, it was a "bit" noisy.
Review 15:Quite tricky to find
Review 16:Lovely apartment, easy parking. Great place to watch the sunset/sunrise over the crater. Near to the visitor centre and Ramon crater. Good breakfast brought to your room at a time to suit.
Review 17:Only two things: No real place to sit and nothing like a desk. The only furniture besides the bed was a futon with far too wide a seat to sit back on. It's in a pleasant neighborhood, but a dog, or dogs were barking nearby all night long.
Review 18:Nice, personable owner. Lovely landscaping around and behind the house.
Review 19:Not applicable
Review 20:Everything was great. We could walk to restaurants and the views of the crater. Breakfast brought to our room every morning was really wonderful.
Review 21:The only slight difficulty we had with our stay was finding it. This was due to user error on our part since we had not printed the detailed directions sent by email. Our hostess was very helpful over the phone and got us there easily once we called. She spoke excellent English, so the directions were easy to follow.
Review 22:The Desert Home was wonderful. The room was beautifully set up with tall ceilings and all amenities we could want including a beautiful porch out back affording great views of the spectacular desert sunset. The best feature, though, was the breakfast. Our hostess prepared a true feast of Israeli salads, beads, cheeses, and spreads with the option to cook our own eggs as well (they were waiting on the fridge). If we are ever fortunate enough to stay in Mitzpe Ramon again, we will definitely stay here again.
Review 23:A neighbor decided to have a late and noisy party the night we were here which ruined our peaceful evening but Chen assured us this is not a common occurrence.
Review 24:The unit we had was a studio apartment with bed at one end and living room and kitchen at the other. Everything was clean. The balcony space is large, chairs comfortable, and view lovely. Chen provided cookies, nuts, olives, and water on arrival, which was a treat and unexpected. Breakfast included many treats and was too large for 2 ... We had a picnic lunch and still left some.
Review 25:Spacious, clean and comfortable room with balcony overlooking the desert. 5 minutes drive from the Visitor Center and entrance to the Ramon Crater. Short walk or drive to the Spice Quarter. Ample and delicious Israeli breakfast delivered to the room each morning.
Review 26:the bedroom was very big and equipped with any kind of facilities. the breakfast was rich and delicious. the owner is extremely nice. the apartment has a nice view of the desert and enjoying the hot tub is simply amazing!
Review 27:I cannot think of anything I did not like.
Review 28:Desert Home was a fantastic. The property is beautiful and the accommodations are some of the best I've ever experienced in Israel. Chen was great and the breakfast spread she brings in the morning is unbelievable.
Review 29:-A bit pricey. -Outdoors hot tub did not seem to be available, probably due to winter season, but it was not mentioned (we also arrived late at night and did not have a chance to talk much with owner about this).
Review 30:Very comfortable, clean and pleasant place. Excellent, home made and beautiful breakfast, as promised in pictures, served to our room, we could eat it on the porch but it was a little too cold in the morning to eat out (December). We used the left overs of breakfast to make sandwiches for lunch when we were hiking on the trail. Interesting books, magazines and trail tips in the room and hallway.
Review 31:We also experienced the wi-fi as poor (it was down for many hours). But, in true Desert Home fashion, they have a selection of DVDs to choose from. Also, the hot-tub could be described as a luke-warm tub of water with no jets.
Review 32:They thought of everything - from the candles next to the bath, to the little plate of chocolate in the fridge when you arrive, to the sketchpad of desert scenery - the Desert Home is meticulously prepared for the traveler who wants to be pampered but doesn't know it yet! The location is in a quiet residential area and it is a 20 minute walk to the visitor center and the start of the hiking trails. The beautiful breakfast is brought to your room at the time of your choosing. Overall, a wonderful stay at a reasonable price. You won't regret it!
Review 33:Wifi was intermittent but I wasn't too fussed.
Review 34:The view, the location, the professionalism of Chen, the breakfast (OMG,) the fair price of wine provided in toom with which to watch sunset , the sops, bathroom, etc etc etc
Review 35:Other guests slamming doors
Review 36:Beautifully decorated, extremely relaxing, lovely hostess. We came late so we were allowed to check out late. Would highly recommend!
Review 37:we could not enjoy the breakfast outside in the garden due to road work. wifi was poor.
Review 38:flair of the apartment; breakfast (nevertheless you need to like salty breakfast); due to road work we got a discount

Review 55:None
Review 56:Very clean and very nice and equipt room. The house owner was very polite and generous

The room is spacious, the kitchenette has everything you need to coo, and the patio and garden are beautiful with phenomenal desert breeze. Very recommended.
Review 74:No reception , no payment with credit cards, no wifi ..
Review 75:Excellent breakfast, very nice large room, comfortable bed , good facilities, very private hotel with 5 rooms
Review 76:Having to leave
Review 77:Breakfast was amazing and lasted for lunch too especially as there was a kitchen as part of the rooms (large bedroom/ sitting room/ kitchen with bathroom and large terrace). I would recommend this place to anyone.
Review 78:Nothing comes to mind.
Review 79:Moore like a bomb with a few rooms at the edge of the desert decorated with much love by the owner. It's kind of new age environmentally conscious but with all the amenities. Would stay there again.
Review 80:We were met by a friendly face who was eager to help in any way. Since our suitcases were lost, she even offered to wash & dry our cloths. The place had everything we needed, very clean and the view was beautiful. The breakfast was plentiful and good. A very pleasant trip.
Review 81:the homely and inviting environment, the attention to detail eg soft towels, toweling gowns and the soft aroma permeating the unit, the welcoming outdoor area, not to forget the well presented tasty breakfast.
Review 82:Wifi didn't work properly. Would have liked fresh coffee (not Nescafe) for breakfast.
Review 83:Lovely room, well appointed, with nice toiletries in the bathroom. The breakfast was generous and served beautifully on our private balcony.
Review 84:Really nice place and I need to add that my husband forgot his wedding ring in the room they found it and immediately shipped to us to the Czech Republic for no charge. I really appreciate it.
Review 85:not alot - need a car to get to the town for resturaunts but otherwise nothing negitive to say. bed was slightly hard but thats a personal opinion
Review 86:great place so homely and the owners are very friendly. they said no children allowed but we brought ours cheekily and they were fine with it - and didnt charge us. They were helpful with information and the breakfast was perfect in an idilic backyard with the desert in view! chocolate and cookies, bottled water, fresh milk and eggs provided on arrive was a sweet touch
Review 87:The minor disadvantages are:loudly air-condition, very poor wi-fi, disconnecting all the time.
Review 88:Great owner. Very nice and clean place. Nice view on the desert from the balcony.
Review 89:The room was amazing, even better than it looked in pictures. Very romantic. Rustic look, but still fantastically clean and modern. The breakfast was incredible. Truly exceeded expectations in every way.
Review 90:It's a very special place at the edge of the desert with special - simple but beautiful - details of furniture. Enormous breakfast with warm bread in the morning.
Review 91:It´s little expensive.
Review 92:Individual Place, i felt very comfortible like at home. they have a look for the details, you habe candles, spices, eggs in the fridge. Nice terrasse. Best breakfast! Food in good quality served in your room.
Review 93:I was expecting a hotel, but it's a b&b. The owner only accepts cash (we knew this) but was not very helpful when we asked where we could find a bank. The furnishing was very crude for such a high price
Review 94:The balcony with view on the desert
Review 95:I really enjoyed my overnight stay at desert home , it was perfect for our needs . It was friendly and comfortable . Our breakfast and the in room facilities were first class. Thouroghly recomended
Review 96:The room was comfortable with all the amenities:a small fridge stocked with milk, eggs and some goodies, a small burner, a kettle. The room had a sofa, television and a lovely porch. Breakfast was delicious and served in the room. It was easy enough to get into the Ramon crater (even in the pitch dark). Recommended !
Review 97:We spent two weeks in Israel and stayed at some wonderful places, butDesert Home was the most beautiful and luxurious. It felt like a spa. Wewatched the sun set over the desert from our balcony, and ate asumptuous, fresh breakfast out there as well. Chen was so kind andhelpful, about the area, and the area is spectacular.
Review 98:Nothing really. It was a little off the beaten track so you need a car but that was expected so not a problem. The patio was divided from next door's by some flower pots and would have thought a screen would give more privacy. These are only small matters, it was very nice
Review 99:Very comfortable with a lovely patio overlooking the desert in each room and a wonderful breakfast brought to your room each morning. Good self catering facilities and some thoughtful extra touches
Review 100:Bed next to wall so no acess from 1 side. Narrow, turning stairway toreach room and hard to carry luggage to room. Shower at odd place in tubso water on floor. Not really onsite parking View to desert wasn'tthat good since lots of junk/trash could be seen.
Review 101:High ceiling room. Owner tried to make interesting place but that didnot make up for functional failures.
Review 102:No criticisms. You do need a good map as the property is in aresidential neighborhood- not along a main highway.
Review 103:We really enjoyed our stay at Desert Home. The room was uniquelydecorated and very relaxing. The breakfast was very well done.

Review 105:no credit cards, but with advance notice, okay
Review 106:-quiet -homey comfort -breakfast served when needed -well maintained and obviously much effort put into materials
Review 107:I was expecting a desert view, a more in-door/outdoor nature feel. We were in a garden level room with a view of the palm trees in the back of the building.
Review 108:Breakfast was beautiful and delicious. Room was well appointed and very clean.
Review 109:Acoustic could be better (we heard music from the neighboring room).Dishes could be cleaner.
Review 110:Very comfortable, spacious and welcoming room well equipped withlovely terrace.
Review 111:heat wouldn't evenly distribute throughout the room; price seems high for value.
Review 112:Very clean, friendly owner, welcomed with treats and beautiful breakfast.
