Reviews for Kelly's Resort Hotel & Spa

Review 1:The effort of the staff to ensure my stay was everything I wanted it to be was constant- I really felt I mattered. I was recuperating from an illness and I loved the many places I could rest comfortably, without having to go back to my room? The talk about the art collection was really enjoyable.

Review 2:None

Review 3:Very good staff attitude - more than helpful Each morning, at breakfast, Bill Kelly coming around to all guest tables asking if everything was to their satisfaction Top class food & great dining room staff

Review 4:The welcome, everyone at reception, dining room, bar & Bill Kelly - the little touch of giving us a camera to use during our stay & doing up an album for the "birthday girl" ...

Review 5:I found the restaurant manager colder than the rest of the staff. Heactually walked through me on the corridor at one stage which wasneither pleasant nor professional.

Review 6:The warm welcome from Mary at 930 pm after a very long and tedious drivein lashing rain was fantastic and helped us relax immediately, Food andrelaxed atmosphere was great.

Review 7:The weather was amazing during our stay and we could lie out on the sun loungers for the day. The spa was really relaxing. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The food was lovely.

Review 8:There isn't enough space here to say all I would like to say. I have had years of experience of hotels all over Europe , and very, very few tick as many boxes that Kelly's did in my opinion. The food was so delicious , I am now on a diet (!)etcetc XXX

Review 9:I absolutely fell in love with this hotel and its beautiful location. The design of the hotel is great, a lot of cosy places to sit and relax, wonderful complimentary afternoon tea, good swimming pool facilities.

Review 10:Staff friendly, but Irish restaurant/dinner staff a little inefficient and prone to making mistakes and not clearing tables well. Glass of wine delivered, not poured at table; a sea-trout main course was ordered but salmon served without a word said by waiter; desserts served were not as described in menu. And whippy ice-cream should never appear in a restaurant of the calibre of Beaches.

Review 11:Warm, personal welcome, the hotel decor, sense of space, friendly staff

Review 12:Some minor repairs and redecorating touch ups required

Review 13:Peace and chill out , great service friendly and helpfull staff, great food and excellent location

Review 14:Having to leave!!

Review 15:I liked the daily activities available and the fact that there was music and dancing every night.. The staff were very friendly and got to know our names and room number even though we were only there for two days. Weather was a bonus and made the walks on the beach very pleasant. We hope to return perhaps in the spring.

Review 16:However, entertainment could be better. Bands and the odd comedian would be great. Just liven it up somewhat and this is coming from a golden oldie!!

Review 17:Everything to be honest ! Breakfast is very tasty and the bar food is just perfect for a light lunch. Our sea view rooms are much appreciated!

Review 18:Afternoon tea very poor awful in fact I did not like walking through rest area by reception which had a nursing home feel about it ideal for coffee but not for feet up booking readings

Review 19:Breakfast excellent Dinner excellent but expensive at 45 euro Waiter excellent and good fun Beech walk pleasant Mary at reception excellent and very attentive

Review 20:Very friendly helpful staff, wonderful facilities, our room with panoramic view of the sea was perfect.choice of restaurants aqua zone spa and childrens play areas were first class.tea and coffee available all day and especially liked afternoon tea at four o'clock.well done kellys we will be back.

Review 21:Dinner was a little disappointing in the Beaches (main course)

Review 22:Everything was great. Very comfortable and homey. Lovely ambiance. Art work was a treat to enjoy. Room was excellent and sea views to die for. Breakfast was excellent ( a choice of jams would add to it) Bar food tasty. Garden was lovely.

Review 23:would like to see more younger couples. so maybe a few good deals might work. I do believe you pay for what you get, but i would need a deal to afford to go back again.

Review 24:staff were great so nice and helpful. we went there for our honeymoon loved our room looking over the Irish Sea fab....

Review 25:Bit confusing to find that, after parking, you were across a road from the hotel itself. More signage maybe?

Review 26:Real comfort, pleasant surroundings, helpful staff. Geared up for early morning departures.

Review 27:I was unable to use my Ipad as the internet connection was not available.

Review 28:The friendliness of the staff. I was overwhelmed with the Spa.

Review 29:The hotels bedrooms are very outdated and shower could be updated also

Review 30:The whole experience was wonderful

Review 31:Warmth ,friendliness family oriented stmosphere

Review 32:Location at beach , leisure facilities in the hotel

Review 33:just liked relaxed atmosphere and comfort. Food excellent.

Review 34:Too short a stay

Review 35:Food, facilities and staff

Review 36:There was nothing I did not like except the weather and I appreciate it was not your fault

Review 37:Loved the pool Tubs and sauna. The food was lovely too.

Review 38:Relaxed atmosphere due to the professionalism of the staff.

Review 39:Everything

Review 40:Nothing

Review 41:View and friendly staff

Review 42:We felt very special and knew our comfort and enjoyment was utmost important to all the staff.

Review 43:Out door hot tub, meals in the restaurant were exquisite.

Review 44:Staff were fabulous! So friendly & helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Great food. Baby room equipped with facilities to wash, sterilise & prepare bottles was invaluable. Plenty areas to relax with a coffee & great outdoor areas also.

Review 45:Kellys offers a consistency of standards and a unique quality hotel experience that is a real pleasure for discerning guests. Well done and thank you to the Kelly family and all the staff.

Review 46:Lack of shelf/basket to put things in while using pool showers.very deep step into hot tub ..bad hips.No air extractor in bathroom .awkward to access TV room with drinks in hand .blind cord needs fixing .oddly the long mirror is facing the wrong way.

Review 47:Very Friendly staff.really comfortable room.great food at bistro .great hottub and swimming pool.

Review 48:Cannot think of anything to complain about on this occassion

Review 49:the consistent professional attitude of all the staff. They were able to combine this with friendliness at all times.Good quality food well presented.

Review 50:Fantastic stay with my 2 sisters, friendly staff, lovely surroundings. The extensive art collection displayed all over the resort adds a lovely dimension. Delightful family owned business run by people who know how to provide excellent service. Will be back

Review 51:Staff were very friendly, food was simply divine, hot tub must be made from Scandinavian pine, the scent of which mixed with the scent of the sea was glorious, looking out to sea over the bubbles! Heated stone loungers and leisure centre facilities were fabulous. The garden leading to the beach was beautiful. This hotel is an art gallery - something for all the senses!

Review 52:When we arrived at 1pm, the room was not available until 4pm. Also the breakfast was only average.

Review 53:Overall our stay was very enjoyable. We enjoyed the location and pool facilities. The evening entertainment of the band and dancing was also unexpected but very enjoyable.

Review 54:Very disapointing in evening meal in beaches restaurant. Food cold, baked prawns over cooked, veg not sure what the white veg was ? Turnip?

Review 55:The bar food was excellent!

Review 56:Having to leave :( !!!

Review 57:Everything! Kellys hotel is out on its own regarding homely atmosphere, welcomes, customer service and nothing is ever too much trouble, always look forward to trips here. food and dining are first class all presented beautifully and so fresh! the rooms are excellent and the beds very comfortable. going back in March and cant wait.

Review 58:The family room was very spacious. Food was absolutely first class for adults and children. Hotel very clean . We went November time however, think summer time would be nicer as hotel on the beach. We had a fab weekend, it's expensive but very nice.

Review 59:Rooms could do with uprating.Cumbersome keys needs to be replaced by card same as other hotels. If first person leaves room second should not have to lock door from inside after them. There should be switched sockets in bedroom. At least 33% more expensive than equivalent hotels which have these facilities.

Review 60:Good food nice area relaxing perhaps slightly overstaffed, but I guess that's what one is paying for, but I think unnecessarily.

Review 61:The weak tea! And the entertainment - two men playing terrible music - was more Ballroom of Romance than 2013.

Review 62:Terrific staff, especially chambermaids. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Resort is very family-friendly and also an excellent place for people with wheelchairs or pushers. Buffet breakfasts were brilliant...

Review 63:clients walking around in dressing gowns, especially having lunch in same. the loungers in veranda where people were sleeping. For awhile I thought I was in a hospital setting. Over priced. They have their name made for years, we are not back in the 70's,

Review 64:location, staff,

Review 65:I loved that you could walk out of the hotel and onto the beach. Afternoon tea and coffee/tea whenever you fancied it. Food was beautiful too. Can't wait to go bacj

Review 66:We only stayed for one night whilst waiting for ferry home, but one could see that this is a very well frequented hotel. Good facilities, well located and helpful staff. It deserves its popularity.

Review 67:Would have loved sea view but understand these rooms are all booked out well in advance.

Review 68:I stayed with my 80 year old mother and we had a really lovely time. Staff were so helpfull and friendly everywhere and it was so relaxing.

Review 69:Would have liked area for adult only relaxation.

Review 70:Very family friendly, excellent dinner menu and breakfast. Not a lot to do in Rosslare itself. Stayed in the hotel, relaxed and enjoyed the ambiance

Review 71:The layout of the facility was difficult to decipher and understand. Staff told us where things were like the aqua club but we ended up being directed around the back off the bistro near the kitchens... not great at all. If you are claiming luxury investment is needed in the quality of the facilities decoration, painting it all has to be perfect all of the time.

Review 72:The location and the accommodation

Review 73:Kellys is a unique destination. Fantastic for families yet with great food, wine and art. Family run and an experience centred on the individual. Staff who have been there for years and really care about your experience. Thoroughly recommended.

Review 74:Leaving!

Review 75:Perfectly set up for a family with children. The kids have so manyactivities to do if they wish and it is organised so well that mum anddad can relax and enjoy the fantastic food and evening entertainment. Ihave not experienced any other hotel that has such a perfect set up forthe entire family to enjoy their holiday.

Review 76:I had an early start on the day of my deaparture. The reception staff were not on duty and dining room was not open for breakfast. The staff opened kitchen early and made me a full Irish breakfast. Fantastic

Review 77:I think the evening meal , while it was good is slightly over priced. 45.50 pp is expensive especially when you add in a couple of drinks or bottle of wine. The location within Rosslare is good , especially the close access to the beach. However Rosslare as a destination lacks choice of restaurants , shops and charm. It's a bit remote for us but may suit some travellers.

Review 78:The breakfast served in the Ivy Room was excellent. Good selection of food and very child friendly. The staff will go out of their way to make sure you have the very best experience. The location next to the beach is wonderful.

Review 79:The ambience of the hotel is one of relaxation and tranquility, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and have a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude.

Review 80:Not new and modern, But clean practical next to the beach and good food

Review 81:This time our visit was just an overnight on our way to the ferry toFrance and as usual it was perfect. Hope to get back for a longer staysoon to enjoy the art and all the facilities. Thanks to Phil for helpingwith a future booking also.

Review 82:couple of stuff at reception were kind of ignorants. Even when I requested one thing on my booking list, they didn't take opportunity to give me a notice and whether it will be fine with me. Despite the reception girls,I enjoyed the friendliness of the girl from the bar,who showed me and led to my room, and the middle aged guy,who served me tea before midnight ! You made my day

Review 83:location,relaxation,food

Review 84:Kelly's Hotel has something very special. There is a sense of hospitality with a capital H.The staff have a kind of caring friendliness without being pushy or standing on ceremony. The location is great being right on the beach. Indoors there are unique and unusual flower arrangements and eye catching art works, and outside lovely gardens. Everywhere seemed to invite relaxation. The leisure centre had lots of facilities including two beautiful pools looking out over the sea. Food was mouth watering, and you knew no mater what you choose from the wide range it would be delicious. Already thinking of a return trip.

Review 85:Bar food was very poor at the time of our visit. One of the dished was undercooked greasy and totally not edible . The other was only luke warm. I was extremely disappointed . I was also put of by the fact the housekeeping knocked on my door despite having do not disturb sign up as my child was napping .

Review 86:Childcare staff and facilities were excellent especially baby room and supervised play room. Kids dinner and disco a great addition . Managed well to facilitate both the very young and the very old !

Review 87:I thought the food was poor and clearly preprepared or reheated giventhe speed of service, my fish course was very poor and overlooked andthe separate (why) vegetables very watery and tasteless. Given the priceand other meals I have had in Ireland this was unsatisfactory.

Review 88:Friendly welcome and service Great location

Review 89:I did not like the idea of having to walk through the area of where the food was being served did not think it was very higenic but to get to pool ect had to and we were in our dressing gowns as many were, we never tought of booking with a sea wiew so was dissapointed

Review 90:I loved the canadian outdoor pool, inside spa also very good, enjoyed our massage, food, room very cozy

Review 91:The hotel was more orientated to familys, which is fine if you want that kind of situation.

Review 92:Rather exspensive for what you offered in actual facilities.

Review 93:Asked for sea view room - got a room with view of the roof. We wantedsomething small to eat at around 7pm, but the bistro was fully bookedand food at the bar is served till 5pm only, so the only option was themain Beaches restaurant.. Breakfast bar poor. The hotel is superexpensive, but I don't really see the reason why the price..

Review 94:I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location is beautiful -right on the lovely beach and spa was excellent. And Guinness was reallynice. Other than this, very average..

Review 95:I love everything about this place and Bill Kelly's attention to detail is clearly evident everywhere. He is a master of perfection without loosing the relaxing touch. We will look forward to returning again and taking some dancing lessons(for ME!)

Review 96:If I had to be critical. I felt that the breads were served from thecold room which made it tast not so fresh. I loved the pâté but I feltit too was served too cold too.

Review 97:Felt very relaxed. Great facilities. Great comfort. Fantastic foodselection and taste. Def will be back again. My husband hadn't beenthere before, he was very surprised & impressed

Review 98:Room was cool when we arrived and did not heat up for some time. It was only 3 degrees outside so maybe that was a factor. Door of bathroom did not close properly. Room had tired looking furniture.

Review 99:very friendly staff without being too intrusive. Lovely location. Good variety of areas within hotel complex to relax and good variety of dining areas.Music in bar on both nights of our stay.

Review 100:The layout of hotel and ambience was excellent.they have staff for all ur needs although i was on my own i met with people very easy because of the set up i have already re booked for june.

Review 101:A few minor ones:- No aertel in room; no small fridge in room, nosauvignon blanc in bar or restaurant, charge on daily paper:

Review 102:The whole set up from friendly staff, excellent food, relaxation andbeach walks.

Review 103:I loved all the art work - what a collection! The flower arrangements were works of art in themselves! Perfect for relaxation and afternoon tea was a nice touch. Spa staff most friendly and helpful and the spa etc great. Food delicious and menu extensive. So many activities to experience and enjoy. Will be back for sure.

Review 104:Room was far too hot despite lowering radiator down to lowest level. Made for an uncomfortable night's sleep.

Review 105:Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location and comfortable facilities.

Review 106:This hotel tends to attract families with you children especially at the weekend, however the children's pool is separate and they are served dinner in a different location to the dining room earlier than the normal dining hours. They are not allowed into the spa area however you have to pay €15/hr to use the general spa area but this is to keep it exclusive. When I was there it was dyeing the week in November so there was a lot of much older couples.

Review 107:The facilities were great and the staff were great, very helpful and ever present.

Review 108:room drab and dated. Bed small and worn out. no tea making facilities in the room. horrible view from window ,room 1 . barely working hair dryer. constant drone from outside equipment through night. Public areas shabby and dated, tacky artificial flowers everywhere. many chairs worn out.

Review 109:the food was quite good . good size bath and plenty of hot water. Open fire in lounge area was welcoming when there was room to sit.

Review 110:as i said on check out i was using a gift voucher purchased 4 me last --october/nov in which the person buying would have stressed the need 5 smoking room - now i know you went non-smoking in january & i did have a room with a balcony but i do feel that the person who purchased it should have been informed of that change as then she could have passed it on to someone else & she would have given me 1 4 somewhere else-- my only other issue is thar 1 day 1 had a do not disturb sign on door but i was disturbed -as it turnedout 1 was.nt feeling well so it was o.k but why was sign ignored

Review 111:staff were great & food was excellent

Review 112:Lots of little slips - haphazard checkin and checkout - newspapers paid for but not delivered with breakfast trays - vague smell of feet in room (not mine) - had to call hotel staff to open safe in room, so late for dinner. Looks awful from the outside!

Review 113:It's hard to say what exactly it is about Kelly's that makes you want to go back - and you do want to go back. If you're expecting cool, streamlined luxury, then you may be a little disappointed. But if you want to feel as if you've been welcomed by your adoring, if slightly distracted, aunt and uncle to their warm and comfortable home, then Kelly's is the place for you. It has the atmosphere of a big well-heeled family house party - everyone is happy and relaxed but everyone knows how to behave. It caters for everyone, but no-one gets in anyone's way. You can wander to and from the spa in your slippers and robe and no-one minds you. You can stop for a coffee on the way back and that's fine. The leisure centre distinguishes itself by opening directly onto the beach and the spa is very soothing and affordable. If you are at all able, brave a winter dip in the sea then scurry back to the outdoor hot tub - heaven on earth! Underneath the slightly less-than-perfect surface of this hotel lies a mature, well oiled machine. They know their customers at Kelly's and really provide what they need. Book well ahead - Kelly's is great value and it's always full!

Review 114:When we booked at Kelly's we asked for a seaview room if possible...on check-in we were delighted to see we had been upgraded to a cover suite which was just beautiful. We then realized the room was double and not twin that we required. Wanting to keep our upgrade...we asked if the bed could re-made into twins. The staff were only too happy to meet our requests...we were told to have complimentary tea & cake in the Ivy Room & our room would be altered immediately. Beautiful location & fantastic staff!

Review 115:The one draw back was that upon check out there is an automatic 10% service charge added to the entire bill. When booking please be aware that the price you are shown does not include the 10% service charge. Accommodation, dinners, beverages are all tallied up in one bill and then 10% added to the entire bill. This was a negative, I feel that this was a hidden charge. For 3 nights mid week it was quite pricey.

Review 116:Good atmosphere, good food & lovely location on the beach

Review 117:The wide range of activities on offer. Good choice of restaurants/food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Pool and Spa facilities. Proximity to the strand. Proximity to the ferry port.

Review 118:This was a really lovely hotel; extremely well-maintained, very helpfuland attentive staff, lovely big clean room with a shower and a balconylooking out onto the Irish Sea. The 3 course dinner in the main dining-room was excellent and the wine list was absolutely superb. Ourbreakfast was brought to our room by the night porter, the morning weleft, as we were leaving so early to catch the ferry to Fishguard. Myonly regret is that we did not stay longer. Before dinner, they offereda glass of sherry - compliments of the hotel and in the afternoon, thereis a complimentary cream tea.
