Reviews for D Hotel

Review 1:After a shower rude words appeared on the bathroom mirror from steam but were removed when I reported it to reception

Review 2:Good food and helpful and friendly staff

Review 3:Expensive!

Review 4:Rooms are very nice and spacious, good to have a choice of a balcony, thought it was very expensive, tho I will stay at the d on my next trip!

Review 5:The breakfast room was small for the size of hotel so we had to queue but it was only about 10 mins.

Review 6:Our room was very spacious and had a lovely river view.

Review 7:queuing 25 minutes for breakfast !!!!! restaurant is not properly designed - too small ; bad layout -staff ferrying food across corridor where people are queuing ; tables too small ; longitudinal layout ; chairs outside restaurant door indicating problem is on going just not acceptable for a modern hotel

Review 8:location

Review 9:Didn't get to have breakfast as it started late at the weekend and had to make do with a bag with a sandwich and fruit for breakfast. No breakfast available early at weekends

Review 10:Rooms were very comfortable and to a good standard

Review 11:Lack of private bar on-site. Their "bar" was full of locals from the town, it was loud, no seating and loud with a football game on show- not what I'd expect from a hotel like this. Maybe it was good in the day, but now it's not value for money or of good standard!

Review 12:The bedroom.

Review 13:I had booked a double and a twin room and also for rooms to be beside each other which I had emailed about about before our stay but both rooms were doubles and the only option was to move us into a room across which had a double and a small uncomfortable single bed. No compensation was offered.

Review 14:The location was fantastic and staff were very friendly

Review 15:Loved the location and the bedroom view was excellent Would have liked a cosier atmosphere. In reception area perhaps a nice soft settee for waiting or people watching or reading etc but will most definitely return again soon X

Review 16:The breakfast was average, the food which was meant to be hot was luke warm

Review 17:The room was really clean and warm. The location is good. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 18:Stayed on 2nd floor outside building lights lit up room in the middle of the night through the curtains , need blinds on these large windows

Review 19:Spacious , modern, car parking

Review 20:the quality of the breakfast was not up to the quality of customer service. the food looked like it was boiled!

Review 21:we arrived quite late and were trying to find a location of a building where my partner was having an interview the next day, the gentleman at reception went above and beyond to help us. 5 star customer service!!!

Review 22:Expensive room service. Better to eat in foyer However lovely restaurant menu, good quality food. No swimming pool etc in hotel and I don't do gym.

Review 23:Late breakfast times and good variety of menus. Convenience of shopping centre and access to town.

Review 24:That the Hotel had closed its own bar and restaurant, I would not class the pub next door as hotel standard. Would have been nice to have sat at the outside area like before but was closed off to guests as no bar.

Review 25:Friendly staff and lovely room,as well as a good location.

Review 26:Our first weekend away without our baby and our room was a supposed upgrade room 502 somebody had reused the room had a sleep and made tea the room itself was horrible and had duck tap all around the main cabinet the TVs phone etc sat on .. We got moved to a diff standered room which was better marginally paper was peaking off wall and when opened the large window the top hinge was broken very dangerous . Very disappointed in this hotel standards have dropped significantly dice last stay in it s few years ago

Review 27:Restaurant food. Uncomfortable bed. Sloppy housekeeping 2 days out of 5. A little bit out of the way from shops and restaurants. Laundry service didn't press shirts.

Review 28:Polite staff. Good pub.

Review 29:Disappointed not to have the televisions working throughout the hotel. After trying television on arrival, not working and I was told "a man is working on it". We were told the same information 30 hours later, and still not working all of 2 day / 2 night stay. Little niggly things behind the scenes didn't seem quite right - loose fitting here and there, no mattress cover etc. You almost have to use the lift - stairs are not signed and lead you only to first floor, then get lost finding ground floor! First day, I found some service stairs and ended up in laundry/kitchen area. Would have been nice to be offered vegetarian options (sausages) for breakfast. If I'd paid half the price, I would have been very happy!

Review 30:Looks lovely, in great location, free parking, next to shopping centre and river. Lovely staff.

Review 31:could have done without the hum from machines in the corridor outside the room and would have liked an extra chair in the room

Review 32:location (so handy) and the adjoining bistro where we had a lovely meal + charming and helpful staff + convenient and easy parking

Review 33:My room had no lock on the door the restaurant joined to the hotel was awful there was no main stair case and the price was ridiculous for what it was

Review 34:The room was lovely staff were helpful Drink prices were average

Review 35:Room dirty carpet stained, walls stains,no air con, noise outside hotel had to keep window shut, bed not comfortable, attended wedding at hotel function room way to small for amount if people, food served was worse food ever at a wedding every course was muck.

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:There's no air con which might be an issue on hot days. There are fans in the rooms but how effective these are is debatable.

Review 38:Superb hotel in a central location with extremely helpful and friendly staff.

Review 39:A very difficult access for anyone walking from the train station.

Review 40:New hotel, on the river side and close to downtown. Also, the fastest wi fi we have found in Ireland.

Review 41:The hot food at breakfast was rather dried up when I came down towards the end of serving time.

Review 42:I was upgraded to an upper room with balcony overlooking the river. Central location in the town very convenient.

Review 43:Fab hotel! The hotel contacted us to see if the reason for our trip was the slane concert and then progressed to give us information about buses. Food was made available to buy on return from the concert and foo fighters cupcakes and waterin our room! Brilliant stay!

Review 44:Nothing loved my stay.

Review 45:On arrival staff where very welcoming. 10 minutes after check in we had a knock to the door....what a treat just what we needed after a 2 hr drive 2 cupcakes and water delivered to our room (nice welcoming touch). Staff where great can't fault them at all would highly recommended.

Review 46:Our room had a balcony but we couldn't open the door it seemed to be jammed but it wasn't a major problem for us :)

Review 47:stayed here The night we went to slane for the foo fighters concert. Honestly never met such friendly and helpful staff! Gave us loads of information about the bus to slane and helped us with our bags. Bus station was 5 min walk and bus took us 15 mins so really handy! Room was lovely and spacious, huge bed! When we came back at 12 we were able to get sandwiches and soup which was well needed after a long day out in the rain! We arrived back at our room to 2 complimentary bottles of water and 2 cup cakes with foo fighter logo on them I thought it was a lovely touch :) next morning I had the breakfast and again greeted by lovely and friendly staff and the breakfast was really tasty! Honestly can't stop raving about the D Hotel we will definitely be back thanks a million!

Review 48:Lovely atmosphere, vibrant bar, excellent restaurant with attentive staff. Great value for money and convenient parking. extremely polite and helpful staff, I will definitely be back.

Review 49:Wi-Fi was difficult to set up. No instructions telling you what to do. Normally I would go to google and then directed to your joining site. Going to facebook first was not mentioned. I also thouight the wi-fi was slow.

Review 50:The staff we very friendly, helpful and tried to sort out any problems you had quickly.

Review 51:I didn't like the pillows. It's the only thing I didn't like.

Review 52:Siobhán the girl who works on reception is such a beautiful girl who didn't stop smiling. She was very pleasant and extremely helpful. The D Hotel are very lucky to have her as part of their team.

Review 53:We asked about getting a dvd player for the room. The first guy I askeddidn't do anything about it. Eventually after 3 different staffmembers came to the room to set up the dvd player it did not work. Allthe staff members were lovely it was just unfortunate.as we were onlystaying the one night.

Review 54:Room was lovely & spacious. Breakfast was very tasty & there waslots of it.

Review 55:Unacceptable to be renting rooms in the hotel in the state they were in and hotel staff were actually agreeing with our opinion of the rooms

Review 56:Lobby bar was fine

Review 57:Our room was overheated though radiator was off. Problem solved the second night ,We discovered how to open the window!!!

Review 58:Staff were courteous and attentive. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was extremely good. Helpings were generous. Quiet though a busy weekend.

Review 59:Room was lovely but plain. An felt a bit small. Bed was so comfy though. The noise from the smoking area as the room was face towards it. Guests banging doors.

Review 60:I enjoyed the shopping center next door. Also the view of the river. Modern interior of the hotel.

Review 61:i pre requested a river view room but did not get one when we got to our room there was information on upgrading to one but i wasn't prepared to go back to reception and start moving rooms, it would have been nice to have been offered it on arrival

Review 62:location comfort parking entertainment

Review 63:Plugs in bedroom not near bed No shower caps Speaker in the toilet roof Not enough coffee milk No movie stations

Review 64:Room breakfast staff booking out were friendlier than booking in staff

Review 65:The room and bed linen was showing some age. The room servicing was hit and miss (some days good others we wondered if they'd been!). Room rate we paid was €115 pn yet there were many advertisements for €49 which left me feeling ripped off somewhat.

Review 66:The reception staff were lovely. The Games room facility was a big hit with my 3 year old. The room (411) was very spacious. The breakfast was very good and the waiting staff in there wonderful.

Review 67:The room was very bland looking almost cold not welcoming. The big ball over the chair needs to be rid off! You have to pay extra for river view, we were facing the car park not a pretty site.

Review 68:The receptionist was very welcoming. Bed very comfortable.

Review 69:The location is horrible. View is the worst I have ever seen from a hotel. Bed and chair were stained, drapes were stained, wall had staines on it. Staff was unable to accommodate a room change. The city is dirty and smells like sewage. Very unpleasant experience.

Review 70:The hotel is close to a mall.

Review 71:Steak in the restaurant was inedible (tough as old boots!). Fish however was excellent.

Review 72:Bed was very comfy Staff very helpful Breakfasts excellent, loads of fresh fruit.

Review 73:Clearer instructions regarding unloading and parking car. A specified unloading space outside main door would be helpful.

Review 74:Location - on quayside and near shops. Very good food, comfortable room and friendly, helpful staff.

Review 75:Felt the hotel was run down. Corridors needing character. Room quite run down and dated. Bed had wood all around and was quite uncomfortable. Glad we were only there one night.

Review 76:Entertainment in the bar was dire both evenings we were there We had a river view, but also overlooked a building site

Review 77:Room size and quality Good breakfasts Friendly staff

Review 78:Absolutely nothing

Review 79:Loved the room I had a balcony facing on to the river excellent breakfast excellent staff lovely area plenty shops lots of good pubs I highly recommend this hotel

Review 80:Small criticism - the bathroom door should open the other way and be able to be left open.

Review 81:Really stylish hotel. Excellent value for a large room with a balcony and expensive river view - you can even see the salmon in the river!

Review 82:shower hard to use Breakfast: fruit was excellent bad layout of breakfast room and needs a supervisor to foresee possible delays, not a relaxing place. hot trays of food being carried and children running around. trays empty and then removed to be refilled so i got last sausage, no scrambled egg and no bread had to ask for plates & wait had to go looking for someone to get tea and coffee for us Food we actually got was of a high standard, the breakfast room just needs to be better organised.

Review 83:most comfortable hotel bed ever balcony door for fresh air was great quiet peaceful hotel and I personally love the sound of herring gulls

Review 84:Rooms are very hot, for a four star hotel, you would think that they would invest in some air condtioning instead of a blow fan! Uncomfortable to try to sleep in, especially for young children.

Review 85:Modern, clean, great staff, good food. Room was spacious and very clean. Great location, close to centre of town and funtasia and Clogherhead beach only 15/20 mins away

Review 86:Everything, hotel is totally unclean, dirt on walls, soiled duvet, stained carpet, not dusted etc. staff upon arrival cannot even greet you, 4 star please, I think a hostel would have been better!

Review 87:Room was cold, food in restaurant very bland

Review 88:Receptionist was very friendly
