Reviews for Emlagh House
Review 1:We didn't stay there long enough. Only 2 nights.
Review 2:Very nice and friendly staff. The rooms were very spacious and nicely decorated. The surrounding town and scenery was fantastic. We would definitely stay here again!
Review 3:Nothing bad to say at all. We will definitely stay here again if we re-visit Ireland. And will most certainly recommend to friends.
Review 4:Loved this property! Didn't really want to depart after our two nights. It has great ambience... you feel like you're stepping back in time and actually living in a manor home. We had a room with a view of the water which was beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was quite large with excellent decor. The bathroom was very large with a separate tub and shower. The breakfast was delicious with superb service and in a beautiful room with views.Location is excellent...just a 5 minute walk into Dingle...which was our favorite place to visit while in Ireland. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure our stay was fabulous. They made excellent recommendations in terms of where to go for lunch and dinner. Allowed us to check in early and even offered to drive us into town for dinner.
Review 5:Beautiful mansion right on the water, three minute walk from town. Room was immense, wonderful furnishings and a great view of the Bay. Truly a hidden gem!
Review 6:The reception was warm with a good fire going in the entry parlor and a lovely hostess to greet us. The room was amazing, large, well appointed and clean with a bay window overlooking green pastures. Loved the wind outside and the warmth inside.
Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:There is absolutely "NOTHING" to dislike about thisproperty....Top Class all the way and also well deserved of the 5 Starrating...even a Plus with the 5.
Review 9:Highlights were 1) amazing rooms (Blackberry, Honeysuckle) 2) fantastic staff and service (Elena, Emma, Dorothy) 3) beautiful breakfast 4) view of the ocean 5) feeling like it was your own home 6) remote feeling location but 5 minutes walk to town
Review 10:Is a bit expensive but you pay for what you get! Other than that, everything was perfect!
Review 11:Location was brilliant and staff were also very welcoming and friendly! If I was to fault anything it would be that the bed was almost too comfy and I never wanted to leave!!!
Review 12:It was a beautiful house, with great food and very friendly staff. The location is perfect. The bedrooms are individually styled and are very comfortable.
Review 13:Wonderful inn-like setting; large bedroom with great view of harbor; great location with short walk to downtown Dingle; wonderful Irish breakfast options
Review 14:The only quirky issue was that the bed duvet was too short for the bed.
Review 15:The view from our room was wonderful. Staff were great. Location near Dingle fabulous. Breakfast, especially the porridge was superb.
Review 16:I thought breakfast would be better due to the exceptionally high standard of everything else. It was a 3 star breakfast in a 5 star hotel.
Review 17:Staff, location and the house itself were all fantastic!
Review 18:Nothing!
Review 19:V friendly staff delicious breakfast lovely antique furniture n paintings short stroll into town staff booked us into a restaurant couldn't have been more helpful
Review 20:Would have preferred if cereal and juice section of breakfast was buffet style...disappointed in late breakfast start at 8.30.. I had early start on Mon morning at 7am and could not access any breakfast...
Review 21:Lovely place very clean tidy close to all amenities...
Review 22:Served "free water" in an obviously reused bottle, which we considered rather cheap. Our room was not cleaned very well between our days there. Bed seemed thrown together and we had to call down for towels that were not replaced. No soap bar, just liquid soap and bath gel, something my spouse hates. There was a horrible and disturbing painting hanging high above the wall next to our bed (think "velvet Elvis" with people, instead of dogs, playing poker) that we took down and leaned facing the wall during our stay in the fuschia room. The common rooms are very nice, and the breakfast atrium is very sunny and cheerful. Our room was large and sparcely furnished with a nonfunctioning old coal bin fireplace. TV was too small to be so far away from the bed, though the selection of programming is very limited, which appears to be common in Ireland hotels.
Review 23:Staff was helpful and friendly, and morning breakfast was really great. It's within walking distance to downtown, as long as it's not raining.
Review 24:tv in the room didn't work
Review 25:We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and throughout our short stay. The room was absolutely lovely and spotless and the location is perfect.
Review 26:Dingle is absolutely breathtaking and the Emlagh House is exquisite! I truly can't say enough! We have stayed in numerous b&b's and this is our favorite!
Review 27:Wifi was weak and kept losing signal. Also there was a sound near our room like water pumping through the walls-woke us several times in the night. Unfortunate as it colored our stay.
Review 28:Great location right as you come into the city. Lovely large guest house. Breakfast was delightful. Staff very friendly and en-suite room was large and spacious. Lovely shower with good pressure.
Review 29:I would have liked a self service cereal, fruit & juice table in the dining room... had to wait for everything to be brought out from kitchen... also I left at 7.30am on Monday morning and dining did not open until 8.30 so no breakfast
Review 30:location good and staff very nice & helpful
Review 31:The twin beds are narrow and seem short. The room needed to be dusted, but the bathroom was clean.
Review 32:The location is excellent and the property provides views of the harbor, although our room did not. There is ample parking. The sunroom is a delightful spot to drink tea, which is self-served in the parlor. The interior is beautifully decorated.
Review 33:Upon entering the room, we had to swat a few moths and kill a few spiders.
Review 34:Excellent location, close to town center. Beautiful view out from study. Delicious breakfast. Heated towel bars for drying damp clothes and towels. Great water pressure in shower.
Review 35:The staff here is wonderful and makes you feel immediately at home. The location of the inn, is within easy walking distance of the town and has ample parking. This is a great place to stay when exploring the Dingle Peninsula.
Review 36:If you are going to Dingle, try to get a room here!! You won't be disappointed! Loved everything about it!!! Staff , room , location, breakfast !!!
Review 37:Decor was poor . Breakfast was very disappointing- it didn't llive up to how the menu read. Fish wasn't fresh and the batter was highly processed. The scone (which was split in half - for 2 people!) was not fresh.
Review 38:location
Review 39:The house, the decor, the view from the breakfast room, the food and the hospitality of the staff. The location of the house meant the walk into the village was easy without the noise being closer would bring.
Review 40:We booked out parents a two night stay here for their anniversary. They were blown away by the setting, staff and room. Thank you for making their time in Dingle so wonderful. Would definitely recommend and return to Emlagh House. 10/10.
Review 41:No dislikes, this is a professionally run unit and offers exactly what any traveller would want. Great for all age groups and great value.
Review 42:The property is purpose built, always warm and the rooms are superb. The bathroom floors are heated and the location is walking distance to Dingle Town. Overall, perfect!
Review 43:Our only suggestion would be to shower early. We started getting ready around 9:00am and there was very little hot water available.
Review 44:The Emlagh House is absolutely gorgeous. Huge rooms/bathrooms, beautiful views, extremely friendly staff, and a delicious breakfast. It's location right on the edge of the town is perfect...a 5 minute walk to the pubs and shops while being away from the traffic and bus crowds.
Review 45:They shouldn't accept bookings for children & esp NOT for babies - no babyseat, no travel cot, dangerous windows not child proofed. No tea making facilities in room. No staff in the house overnight in case of problems. Very expensive expected much more!
Review 46:Location - within walking distance of town
Review 47:Room was dirty, carpet, spider webs in chandelier, no bar soap in the lavatory, worn out towels and wash cloths ... And the hallways were very dark ?... Wall sconces were never on and the house looked like it was closed down most of the time. We arrived a bit late on the first day and went for breakfast at 9:30 am ... All tables were dirty and the one waitress seemedbupsetvthatvwe sat at a dirty table, commenting that "everyone wants to sit by the window" ... All tables were dirty and it was the one with the least amount of dishes to clear. Not a pleasant beginning to our stay. We stayed 2 nights and never met the owner. Wifi did not work.
Review 48:Cold bathroom. Rattling windows during a windy night. Establishment appeared to be short of staff, especially at breakfast time.
Review 49:Breakfasts were really good, gluten free available. Dining room very light and wonderful position with views over the bay.
Review 50:Absolutely nothing.
Review 51:Gorgeous setting gorgeous rooms delicious breakfast and friendly and helpful staff. This was the most enjoyable stay so far on our trip. Excellent
Review 52:The second room had 3 single beds that did not have a good mattress Big difference between the 2 rooms Lack of bath products (only 1 shower gel, shampoo and conditioner for 3 persons. No soap)
Review 53:The house is amazing and well decorated. The main bedroom looked like a suite with view on the harbour. The kingsize bed was very comfortable The breakfast is famtastic as well
Review 54:All was good.
Review 55:Friendly staff, beautiful big McMansion-type property, delicious breakfast, great shower, clean. Next time, I'd request a room in the back overlooking the cows.
Review 56:It was perfect!
Review 57:The Bluebell room was the most charming room in our stay in Ireland! It was large, airy, spotless, comfortable, on the ground floor and the bathroom was outstanding! A 5 minute walk to shops, restaurants, pubs made Emlagh House the perfect place to stay in Dingle. We had to hurry to catch a bus so missed hugging our friend Dorota (Dot!) who greeted us at Out of the Blue and Emlagh House and made us feel welcome! Thanks to Dot and our hostess Dawn who guided us to Half Door and the excellent Warm Squid Salad! Yummy!
Review 58:Nothing - we will book this again if we return to Ireland.
Review 59:Our room was very large and fantastic. The only hotel we stayed in on our two week vacation that offered plenty of electric outlets for charging our devices.
Review 60:Gorgeous purpose built guest house/hotel in fantastic location in Dingle. Stunning scenery and walking distance to this pretty seaside town. Although on the pricey side it is well worth the extra!!
Review 61:Located minutes walk from centre yet quiet at night. Very warm welcome, hostess came across as genuinely delighted to meet me. Very comfortable bed. Very clean.
Review 62:Wifi connection was poor, but not a major!
Review 63:The house is beautiful and the rooms are decorated lovely. A very comfortable stay. Only a 2min walk to pubs restaurants and shops, great location. The staff were so friendly and breakfast was delicious!
Review 64:Beautiful spacious house in fantastic location. Staff were excellent very friendly and informative. Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had looking out at the Skillig Will definitely stay there again when in Dingle
Review 65:The staff at Emlagh House were always available, helpful and willing to do whatever it took to make us more comfortable. Dorota and Edel were outgoing and welcoming. Excellent staff for an elegant house.
Review 66:The Staff are what you would expect from a fabulous, well run business. They will go out of their way to make your stay as plesant as possible. The After 8's on the pillow. Excellent
Review 67:Attention to detail is excellent.
Review 68:There is coffee and tea facilities with cookies in the lounge, but a kettle in the room would have been nice.
Review 69:A BEAUTIFUL establishment! Wonderful decor, furniture. Crystal chandeliers. Our room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom is spacious and lovely with 2 basins and a separate bath and shower with lovely toiletries. Modern. LOVELY staff and fantastic breakfast. The pancakes were delicious and beautifully presented. A fantastic stay!
Review 70:A very spacious house, tastefully decorated. Very comfortable room and a fabulous bathroom. We were welcomed by Edel who could not have been more helpful.
Review 71:Staff were exceptionally friendly, like all the people we met in Dingle. The guesthouse is like a small hotel, lovely living room with open fire where you could read and make yourself tea or coffee.
Review 72:not really a 'sea view' but everything else makes up for it
Review 73:I thought this was the best appointed house we stayed in. Well laid out spotless beautiful room, luxury bathroom, most definitely recommended.
Review 74:The heating was poor, verging on uncomfortable, even though it was brought to the attention of staff. What saved it from a serious problem was that it was v mild locally. Good if there were tea/ coffee facilities in the rooms.
Review 75:Staff friendly and personable, breakfast was excellent, general atmosphere relaxed. Our room spacious, and bathroom large and roomy, but heat?
Review 76:Absolutely nothing to dislike.
Review 77:Beautiful interior, and really helpful staff. The breakfast was outstanding, with locally sourced ingredients. Lovely lounge to relax in with coffee making facilities. My husbands parents were celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary and they thought Emlagh was fabulous. We can't wait to return.
Review 78:I don't like that my house isn't as nice as Emlagh House.
Review 79:The house is beautiful! The rooms are huge and well equipped. Very high end. My wife wanted to move in permanently. The host and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. It's an easy walk into Dingle, which is abundant with nightlife. Staying at Emlagh House was definitely a high point in our 10 days in Ireland.
Review 80:We loved the room, the size of it, the view, the comfort of the bed, the fabulous breakfast in the morning served by a very friendly and professional (Polish) member of staff, basically just about everything!
Review 81:We enjoyed a beautiful large room, lovely modern bath, with a towel warmer. The beds were so comfortable, and we slept so well the first night we missed breakfast. That was a shame because the next day we found out we had missed a wonderful meal. Lovely views of the water, and a private patio for our room just added to the comfort.
Review 82:breakfast started too late - 8,30 am. expensive for a B&B for a routine stay. needs better tea and coffee facilities. also some fresh fruit for the price being paid!
Review 83:comfort, location, discounted price on booking.com, air con in the rooms and rooms not too hot. great bathrooms and deep carpet on bedroom. wi fi really fast. nice breakfast.
Review 84:Very large room and ensuite. Great view of Dingle harbour. Very clean and attractive building. Short walk to town and away from any street noise. Excellent choice for a stay in Dingle.
Review 85:There wasn't a spa on facility. I would also have been nice to have a dedicated concierge desk in lobby.
Review 86:Our room overlooked the harbor and a cow pasture, three large windows. Irish Breakfast and dining room were exceptional. Staff were very attentive and eager to make our stay as comfortable. Donita (spelling) greeted us and checked us in, and corrected a minor complaint of ours. Loved small size (10 rooms) and walking location to town.
Review 87:The Place which was incredible was only surpassed by the view which was outstanding. The breakfast was very extensive and really tasty. The staff were excellent and so welcoming. All in all looking forward to our return visit - Excellent.
Review 88:- could only stay one night as it was booked up
Review 89:- the whole building was furnished to an amazing standard - breakfast and the breakfast room - given good recommendations on where to eat locally
Review 90:There is nothing you can fault. A perfect score.
Review 91:This place is simply fabulous. 12room guesthouse, tastefully furnished with most rooms enjoying superlative water views and only a short walk to town. Staff are most helpful. Great breakfast cooked to your order is included in the price.
Review 92:Nothing.
Review 93:The location was perfect for walking into town but quiet and in a beautiful garden setting. It was like staying in a lovely large manor house with every comfort included as if you were a valued guest. At breakfast a staff person asked us about our stay and helped us plan our time. The food was excellent, the room very large and comfortable and the building itself made us feel like visitors to some more gracious time.
Review 94:Could not get onto the wifi
Review 95:Thought the house was beautifully done. Best place we stayed on our trip. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was in a really nice room and was delicious
Review 96:WiFi was a bit unreliable.
Review 97:Views from our bedroom and the dining room. Breakfast was delicious. Coffee the best we had in Ireland. Staff were extremely friendly. Location was an easy walk to everything in Dingle. Ask for Blackberry room. It has a fantastic view.
Review 98:Very nice hotel. Quiet location and only a five minute walk to town. Had breakfast looking out at the water. Nice walking path adjacent to the hotel. The staff could not have been nicer or more friendly. We would most definitely stay there again. Rooms had air conditioning which is pretty unusual.
Review 99:The breakfast menu was good but I would like if there was some cereal available, (cornflakes/wheatabix).
Review 100:Our stay was most enjoyable and we will be returning.
Review 101:The house is deserving of its 5star mark and there was nothing that we could fault throughout our stay.
Review 102:Brian from Cork, I endorse everything you have written about Emlagh House. A wonderful house that has clearly had lots of attention to detail lavished on it; from the impressive décor and furnishings to the professionalism and warmth of all those who work there. Brian you commented on lack of bar- staff happily chilled our bottles of wine for us and had glasses set up in our room for our return in the evening; nothing was too much trouble for them, you only had to ask. Massive bedroom that comfortably 'hosted' 3 adults for 3 nights. Excellent beds that ensured a marvellous night's sleep for all in the group even the insomniac!! Fantastic breakfasts that set you up for a day exploring this beautiful part of Ireland. The freshly made porridge with its complimentary jug of Baileys or wafer thin pancakes with fresh fruit and chocolate sauce are just two of the STARTERS!! Access to beautifully furnished sitting rooms which overlook the bay and where tea and coffee facilities are available all day. Powerful shower to ensure a refreshing start or finish to the day and luxury toiletries and towels replaced daily. Trouser press and ironing facilities. Easy access to the centre of Dingle which is 'heaving' with lots of wonderful restaurants. Fentons, within easy walking distance, won our vote every night! We loved our stay and will definitely be back.
Review 103:breakfast main was smallish, toast cold, choice poor for the money. Buffet better option. I felt the kitchen was skimping a bit on portion size. Does not compare well to competitors such as castlewood yet cost same bracket. rooms not tidied much each day. water not refilled. No valances on beds. Headboards look wrong, holes left in wall from previous headboard. No extra in rooms such as nice magazines, dressing gowns etc, given its 5 star and we paid 140 euros per night. On leaving nobody asked about my stay. The small things matter and I hope the owner considers what is said here given the cost to the guest.
Review 104:quiet great space great parking and location nice staff comfortable beds but could have been bigger given size of room, perhaps 2 4ft beds nice decor, peaceful
Review 105:Furniture---like tired irish
Review 106:Everything---one of the best places we stayed in ireland and anexcellent value---even has air conditioning and an elevator! Extremelyfriendly proprietor who did everything to please
Review 107:No tea making facilities in room was available downstairs but there is nothing better than a first cup of tea in bed. Lovely antique furniture but not always terribly practical.
Review 108:Fabulous breakfast, very spacious rooms with very good en suite facilities. Staff extremely friendly/ helpful.
Review 109:The House was amazing. Everything was excellent: the welcome, attention, comfort, rooms, view and the breakfast was amazing. Our stay was too short.
Review 110:We paid for 2 breakfasts though we did not take them. It should be possible to deduct the price of the breakfast if not taken.
Review 111:Positive points: excellent location, common rooms tastefully decorated, very clean, our bedroom was very spacious with a very nice bathroom.
Review 112:Exceptionally slow service at breakfast. Food good but not amazing; Considering that we paid €85 per person sharing per night for B&B, I expected it to be fabulous; it was bad value for money. The website details were misleading, they obviously applied to when it was under previous ownership, and should be updated, including photos.
Review 113:Location of house, size of our room, view from our room, cleanliness, friendliness of staff. If the price dropped to €55-€60 pps I would consider recommending it, not at current price.
Review 114:No complaints.
Review 115:Very spacious, comfortable & clean room with good view over Dingle Bay. Excellent breakfast. Altogether a very pleasant & relaxing stay. Hotel doesn't do evening meal, but that isn't an issue as it's just a few minutes walk from the town centre where there are lots of excellent places to eat (& drink).
Review 116:Can't think of anything
Review 117:The beautiful room and stylish bathroom, the little terrace outside our bedroom. Above all the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The freshly cooked breakfast was also memorable.
Review 118:Nothing really. This is a guest house, not an hotel so, not too surprisingly, there was no bar or evening dining room. We didn't miss this but some people may do. Perhaps a move for the future especially with the culinary skills of the resident chef?
Review 119:A dream of a house, filled with antiques and most of the comforts of home. Opulent massive bedroom with amazing views over Dingle and the bay. Beautiful bathroom with a shower to die for. Excellent breakfast with unusual choices such as freshly made scones, pancakes with numerous toppings, fresh "catch of the day" which was hake (yes, for breakfast - and how nice it was) and everything served for you, just like in the good old days - no fight at the hot counter and cooking your own toast. Easy walk into Dingle for all the wonderful restaurants, and no need to worry about drinking and driving. The owner, Dawn, was charming, helpful and hard-working.
Review 120:Tea toast delivered to table long before breakfast Scones & bread - no need & they weren't freshly made
Review 121:Spaciousness location cleanliness breakfast Parking
Review 122:Amazing room with a view in a lovely garden in a beautiful house
Review 123:This was the best experience we have ever had....from location, to the amazingly helpful and friendly staff, to the beautiful accommodations.
Review 124:Location, spacious, quiet and comfortable rooms. Staff members very friendly and helpful.
