Reviews for Hafnarnes

Review 1:The location was a little too far from the village. The bathroom was very mouldy and we could not use the shower. The kitchen is kind of cramped and hard for more than 2 people to use it. The staff were not always knowledgeable and it was hard to get information from them.

Review 2:The room was comfortable and appeared to be clean.

Review 3:Wi-Fi mainly works only in public areas. Only one hob for cooking

Review 4:Good location just outside Höfn, this guesthouse has good-sized, nice, clean and warm rooms, however Wi-Fi is only available in public areas. The kitchen is equipped and modern but there is only one hob for cooking, tea and coffee is free and available all day. The dining area is quite big and comfortable. Bathrooms are modern and clean. We would definitely go back and recommend it to others.

Review 5:Room very very small, commom areas with no particular care, not equipped kitchen, building with no maintenance. Too expansive for what it gives. It seems more an hostel

Review 6:Kind owners and the position

Review 7:Pricey, but that's all of Iceland. WiFi was spotty since we had a corner room.

Review 8:Beautiful location, convenient from main drag, very close to city center. Owner is very sweet. Stayed during off peak season so no breakfast offered.

Review 9:the Owner is a family - husband and wife - very nice people. The Guesthouse is a clean place , near the central rood to Hofn. The husband is a very polite man - I was only one night and the next morning He took Me with the private car to the bus station in Hofn.

Review 10:Felt just like a dorm.

Review 11:Beautiful location. Enjoyed watching the horses and resident pets from the dining area. Nicely equipped kitchen and coffee included.

Review 12:The guesthouse is 2 km far from Hofn, so it could be a problem if you are not travelling by car. Anyway, I just called the hosts and they . came to pick me up and give me a ride! Thank you!

Review 13:I loved the hosts, extremely kind and helpful, and the beautiful view from the common kitchen windows.

Review 14:Steps to upstairs rooms difficult to negotiate. If a problem, make sure to ask for room downstairs

Review 15:Very good value for the price, well equipped kitchen to cook your own meal, great views and very quiet surroundings.

Review 16:The wifi could be a little temperamental but generally worked ok.

Review 17:Great staff; were helpful for recommendations for local restaurants and sightseeing. All of the common areas were cleaned daily - no issues with cleanliness.

Review 18:Room and bed was basic. And narrow stairs up to the room (hard to carry suitcase). Gravel road to get there. 6 minute drive into Hofn town.

Review 19:Nice host who greeted me, nice 'homely' feeling about the place. Cute cats. Clean bathrooms. Free coffee. Was perfect for one night.

Review 20:It's a bit far from town, but if you're travelling with a car, it's a wonderful guesthouse!

Review 21:The staff were really friendly and helpful! Knowing I didn't have a car, they immediately offered to drive me to town and to the gas station to catch the bus early the next morning! :)

Review 22:only a few kitchen facilities; only 2 bathrooms for a lot of guests, so they were occupied most of the time (esp. in the morning);

Review 23:Close to Höfn; Big kitchen and living room area; nice view; uncomplicated and friendly check in;

Review 24:The guest-house has a large kitchen and sitting room. Tea and coffee were for free. The rooms are small but clean. The bathroom was clean and quiet new. The whole building has new windows.

Review 25:Still a 'work in progress' on outside but bedrooms and community kitchen, living area were excellent. bathroom was ok but HWS would have been better behind a screen.

Review 26:Wifi is only available in the common areas, although that seems pretty similar to other places in Iceland. Not a probably really at all.

Review 27:The hosts were absolutely lovely and stayed up late into the night for us. Our flight was delayed and therefore we were late to meet them.

Review 28:No breakfast and the bed was too small for two people

Review 29:The view was lovely in all directions The owner was wonderful - volunteered his fishing pole to us.

Review 30:Beds are not so good, our room was on the ground floor - loud door slamming, some strange smell in the room. WLAN only in kitchen upstairs.

Review 31:Nice Family. Free coffee and tea.

Review 32:bit basic even for the lower price. Perhaps our view was skewed by the god awful smell of one guest preparing their own dinner, which smelt like off meat - it was an unfortunate nauseating experience!

Review 33:Friendly staff, scenery was lovely.

Review 34:The room was very small and looked a bit like a prison cell. There were no bed lights, nothing on the wall, not enough electrical sockets. The room was also very humid during the night. The price/quality ratio was poor.

Review 35:Good location. The owner was kind.

Review 36:Entry door slams loudly, could be fixed to close more quietly - only a problem if others staying in hostel are inconsiderate

Review 37:Beautiful view from hostel Clean rooms and bathrooms Nice kitchen and sitting room Good wifi

Review 38:Everything was very clean. There were few big bathrooms to use and fully equipped kitchen with coffee and tea. It took 5 minutes by car to get to Hofn city center.

Review 39:Not enough hooks for clothes and towel in shower. Three bathrooms with showers for all guests....could be dicey getting to toilet at peak morning. would be great to have a tiny bathroom with just a toilet so as not to compete with those showering.

Review 40:Convenient to Hofn; staff allowed us to do our laundry! Staff cat and dog.

Review 41:Just need a little more stuff in the kitchen and we needed to wait a lot for the use of the washroom

Review 42:Clean, people are kind and there is place to be other than the room.

Review 43:It is a minor point, but the kitchen is VERY small. It could easily be expanded

Review 44:Location Facilities Bird Sanctuary is like a Private Reserve (NO SHEEP!!! but an ocassional dog)

Review 45:Shared bathrooms. Very minimal lodgings considering how expensive it was.

Review 46:Staff was friendly. Nice kitchen area where you could make your own breakfast.

Review 47:Enough bathrooms for all guests. Well equipped kitchen and comfy dining room. Very welcoming host: we booked a room for 4 but only 3 people staying. The host offered us spontaneously a room for 3 or oringinal 4-person-room but paying only for price of 3. She also showed us both rooms, made a detailed introduction of the guesthouse, and offered a map and introduced Hofn lobster festival . It's a very wonderful living experience overall but only flaw is a little far away from the town (about 5 minuts drives)

Review 48:Welcoming and helpful hosts, good location on the outskirts of Hofn with stunning views to the glacier. Only stayed 1 night but would recommend for self catering accommodation.

Review 49:There was a cat (I'm not sure weather she was owners' cat or from one of the guests) but if someone is alergic or afraid of cats it should be mentioned that there are cats on the premises or that it is possible that there are pets from guests.

Review 50:The staff was very helpfull, the view and the location were great. The room and shared bathroom were very clean. The bathroom looked like it was recently renovated. Everything was really comfortable. It was very quiet and peacefull. The checking in vas fast and efficient. It is 2 minutes drive from the center of the City, so if you are arriving by car the location is excellent. The room wasn't big, but it was 2 bed room, and it was enough for 2 people (2 night stands, a small closet with hangers for clothes and with shelves, enough space for 2 medium suitcases and 2 medium backpacks).

Review 51:It wasn't the prettiest place we stayed, and of the two staff members we interacted with, one was super friendly and nice, the other was a little more.... brisk and dismissive. Bathroom could use a good cleaning and a curtain replacement.

Review 52:The location and price were great. Just about 1 minute outside of Hofn. The wifi was fast and strong and there was coffee and tea for the taking.

Review 53:The outside looks rough and old, the inside is cosy and welcoming. The owner is doing his best to finish his project, but still has an eye on the needs of the visitor. Arranged immediately a cab for us to go out and have a dinner in town.

Review 54:Nothing

Review 55:The very nice and helpful host and hostess, Gave good information on the surrounding area. Beautiful house and lobby, fine beds. Possibility to create your own meal. Always free coffee and tea. From the house you have a gorgeous view on pastures, mountains and the Hornafjord. View on horses, sheeps and lots of birds.

Review 56:My only complaint was that 4 guest rooms (up to 9 guests) shared one bathroom (toilet and shower combined). The wait was never long, just inconvenient at times.

Review 57:Location, location, location! This lovely guest house is very nicely outfitted on the inside and thoughtfully laid out. All of the guest rooms face out toward Vatnjokull which was a lovely sight to wake up to. Their is a lovely large dining room and lounge area with free wi-fi and limited kitchen amenities.

Review 58:interior of bldg. was fine, but exterior was noticeably deteriorated and in need of repair, which makes one wonder about the owner's commitment to keeping up their property

Review 59:well-equipped kitchen and common area

Review 60:Bldg on the outside looks run down. Room is small. While facilities are clean it looks dated.

Review 61:Friendly and helpful reception staff. Price is reasonable. Place is fairly clean. Wifi is working well.

Review 62:No wifi in the room.

Review 63:Location is good, very close to Hofn. Rooms are clean actually just renovated, though the building itself is still in progress, so looks a bit gloomy. But inside clean and nice.

Review 64:Unfortunately the wifi didn't extend around the entire place, but only a minor issue.

Review 65:The hostess was amazing (unfortunately can't remember her name), very friendly and helpful. The place itself was pretty nice on the inside, rooms and bathrooms were clean and functional. Good quality for the price.

Review 66:The whole building inside and out seemed to be missing finishes from renovations. You can hear everything in the place. Not good if you want to talk with friends at night. or make calls from your room (skype).

Review 67:I liked the common areas with WiFi and great coffee machine. The room seemed to have some new updates.

Review 68:Wifi was only in kitchen and public area. Didn't have signal to our room.

Review 69:From outside looked that building was underconstraction. From inside it was almost finish. Only couple of things were missing.

Review 70:the toilet closest to us was very big but the shower was tiny! it could get quite cold when you're out of the shower too.

Review 71:Clean b&b, amazing view from the bedroom, very homely place

Review 72:Coffee machine so good that it seemed to trip the power every time it was used; therefore tripping wifi and everything else. So these are only nice features if working properly and not having to go ring the staff repetitively to un-trip the power at all hours. Over-priced for what you get (no breakfast), shared kitchen adequate except for refrigerator is way too small. there is a larger one available but says "for staff only" and had nothing in it. seems pointless being as how staff doesn't provide breakfast. This could have been better utilized.

Review 73:Very clean. Nina and husband kind & helpful. Good wifi and coffee machine (when working).

Review 74:comfy beds, welcoming hosts, beautiful setting, very clean communal kitchen and dining room. We returned for a second night due to bad weather on our road trip and were given a discount.

Review 75:We came to Hofn in transit and had a great stay at Hafnarnes! There was everything we needeed at our disposal, it was clean, quiet and absolutely comfortable with a good equipped kitchen. The house is located just a bit remote the town so you have a spot of untouched nature around, a great panorama. We really enjoyed it and would absolutely recommend this accomodation.

Review 76:Nothing, we only missed a stove in the kitchen

Review 77:Good location, next to the ring road. Staff was very nice and helpful. The room was very clean and with comfortable beds

Review 78:The hosts were very friendly and gave us some good recommendations. They were extremely hospitable- helping us to jumpstart our car when our battery died and offered us advice for driving in bad weather. Beds were comfy and WiFi was good. If you plan on cooking there is a small kitchen, but be aware that it has no cooker. This was not really a problem for us as we could use the microwave & toaster to rustle up a meal. The free coffee was really tasty!

Review 79:Wifi only available in kitchen and doesn't work very well.

Review 80:Free coffee in kitchen. Comfy beds. Newly refurbished and extended (stayed last year and much smaller). Super friendly owners. Quiet remote location, fine if you have a car!

Review 81:Wifi only worked in kitchen (but owner was going to get this fixed) . Kitchen had no stove, but we used the microwave instead for a change.

Review 82:Beautiful remote location. Great view, helpful host, roomy kitchen, good beds.

Review 83:Only a microwave in the kitchen

Review 84:Very nice and helpfull lady. I ended up staying an extra night so I got a chance to visit the area and it was absolutely perfect!!

Review 85:The wireless was pretty weak in my room, so I have to go to the kitchen room to get full access of the internet.

Review 86:The best location to see the Northern Lights! The staff was very kind!!

Review 87:Can't recall anything.

Review 88:The location is great, just a few minutes from Hofn and on a pretty hill with a great view. The owner is also very helpful and nice. He was also nice to let us take our time checking out the next day since we had stayed up late for the Northern Lights.

Review 89:Wifi has to strict in living room only.

Review 90:It is located in stunning view and surround with farm with house and sheep. I love surrounding very much! Owner is so friendly, he let me choose room that I like and tell him if we need any help. There is shared kitchen which is userful and important for us :)

Review 91:For the price in other places the breakfast was included or there could be a stove for cooking. There was a microwave and fridge available though.

Review 92:It was 2km from Hofn which is not a problem for travelers with a car, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, very clean (modern bathrooms), free tea and coffee.

Review 93:The breakfast served was not of very high quality or diverse enough. The room was a bit too small.

Review 94:Very beautiful surroundings Farm is cozy and pleasant Great view of a rolling green hill from our window Staff was pleasant Clean facilities Close to Hofn which is a very pleasant and relatively large town

Review 95:Because our room was a distance from the modem, we had to go up stairs to use the wifi. I(a senior) found the stairs a little steep. We thought a basic breakfast of toast and juice should be included. They wanted quite a lot for breakfast which we declined but coffee was included.

Review 96:We arrived to a friendly welcome by the hostess and later the host and found our room well appointed and the bathroom which we had to ourselves very adequate. We loved the horses by the driveway and the little dogs.

Review 97:Closest shops and restaurants are a little bit far, which might be a problem if you don't have a car

Review 98:Definitely beds. It was not close to the town (so we could spot northern lights). Amazing view around the property. Coffee included

Review 99:This was such a lovely place to stay! Nature, horses, ocean--everything was just right. We also ate at a restaurant recommended by the host and it was amazing. The best food I've had yet in Iceland.

Review 100:Abit far from the center but not a problem if your have a car.

Review 101:Our hosts were super adorable! We were backapacking, no car, the guesthouse was 40min away from the city center. They propose to give us a ride, they recommended us nice places for dinner, they even came up to our room to show us northern lights at midnight ;) Rooms are clean, common room is wide and practical. Benefit to be abit away from center: you wake up in a very isolated and quiet place, scenery for your morning call is our host´ horses, ducks flying in the sky and birds singing.

Review 102:The weather that day, but I don't blame the owner.

Review 103:While traveling the ring road in Iceland one of our planned stops was Hafnarnes in Hofn. The day we stayed we had hit high winds and steady rain that soaked us right through our rainwear. Plus we had gone through two sets of dry clothes. The owner not only dried our cloths, but waged them too! While we were visiting with other guests, his wife made everyone cookies hot out of the oven. There is plenty of plates, dishes, and silverware. There is coffee and tea, plus a fridge and microwave. Even an egg cooker. We found the beds comfortable and the room was immaculate. The bathrooms are newly renovated and modern. Hofn is just down the road and has restaurants and a grocery store. I am rating this hotel highly because it meets my expectations as a traveler. No, it doesn't have a weight room or a spa, so if that's what you are looking for this isn't the place. If you are looking for friendly owners, clean and comfortable rooms at a fair price this is the place.

Review 104:The place was a bit far from the main town, and myself traveling by foot found it to be a bit of a trek.

Review 105:Very quiet and scenic. The horses on the property were lovely and quite curious.

Review 106:The house is located at the end of a private road a short drive north of the town of Hofn, not far south of the Ring Road. At the time of our visit the outside of the building was being renovated but the inside was unaffected. The proprietor met me upon our arrival and was very helpful with information about Hofn. The location is quiet at night and comfortable.

Review 107:Shower needed looking at so did toilet it was slightly loose! Door locks weren't brilliant a long way from restaurants unless you drove there

Review 108:Got what we paid for a couple of kms out of town not really walkable ,tired needs a revamp . Breakfast good , host nice try the parcass for food in town brillient but expensive

Review 109:A bit outside of town, though you can walk (about a mile).

Review 110:Great views from the property, lots of picturesque Icelandic horses standing around waiting to be photographed. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside the rooms are cozy and the bathrooms are clean.

Review 111:Admittedly, my dislike of this accommodation might be due to the obnoxious guests who hung out in the kitchen partying until the wee hours of the morning. (but the sparse rooms and scratchy bedding did not help)

Review 112:I enjoyed the scenery, the animals (horses, cats, dogs), and the guesthouse owners.

Review 113:-Not the best WiFi in the bedrooms, but in the living room you can even look YouTube Videos!

Review 114:+Really friendly Hosts +Very Good beds +Soft seats at the chill out room +Would go there everytime again

Review 115:Will be much better when the 3rd bathroom is completed. Wi-Fi didn't work in our room downstairs but upstairs in the kitchenette it worked great.

Review 116:Great location just outside of Hofn--close enough for convenience but with better surroundings than being right in town. Pretty good size room. Very friendly and attentive hosts--gave recommendations, frequently checked in on the kitchenette to make sure the complimentary tea and coffee was well stocked. Liked having access to a microwave and dishes as we self catered our entire trip.

Review 117:We had a very nice stay at Hafnarnes. As we had no car, when we had to leave, quite early in the morning, the owner offered to drive us to the bus station 2 km away from his place, this was very kind, we did appreciate! The room was clean and cosy, the facilities as well. If we come back in Höfn again once, we certainly will stay at this place again! M. and D. from Switzerland

Review 118:Sharing two bathrooms with lots of people.

Review 119:Beautiful spot close to village of Hofn. Helpful staff. Our room was large, clean, and quite comfortable. It's budget, to be sure, but very comfortable.

Review 120:only 2 bathrooms for 9 rooms, they are working on the 3rd bathroom

Review 121:loved this place, great countryside location, within easy walking distance to hofn. hosts were very friendly and helpful. beds very comfortable and kitchen well equipped

Review 122:located out of town, the building is kind of shabby, the kitchen is poorlley equipped (only one cooker!)

Review 123:nothing

Review 124:great positon of accomodation. good kitchen.

Review 125:Can be cleaner. There is not enough sockets in our room.

Review 126:Small room, small bed, small stairway, it's hard to move packages.

Review 127:Clean room, nice staff, kitchen is well equipped.

Review 128:location

Review 129:The host was very friendly and helpful with info about Höfn and the area. Good comfortable guesthouse.

Review 130:Wifi seemed to only be available in the kitchen area on the second floor.

Review 131:Location, room, full kitchen available.

Review 132:Only one hot plate to cook with with entire guesthouse, no other major issues.

Review 133:Clean and spacious rooms, large bathrooms.
