Reviews for Hotel Jökull
Review 1:Comfortable hotel about 7klms from Hofn. We booked two rooms with shared bathroom but were pleased to be upgraded to rooms with bathrooms, because they were not fully booked. Breakfast included. Comfortable beds.
Review 2:For such an upscale place, the service from our waitress at dinner could have been a little more friendly and attentive.
Review 3:This was the most expensive place that we stayed in during our trip...you get what you pay for as everything (the room, food, facilities, location) was top notch and fantastic.
Review 4:If I try to find something then the mattress was too soft for me but the other loved it. As I have bad back after accident I have too sleep on very hard mattress and have often slept on the floor at hotels because usually the mattress is to soft.
Review 5:The room was big and new renovated. The view to the Glacier was stunning. The house has a large area where people can sit down and talk. Both in sofa or with table. The staff was very helpful and resolved all problems and gave us good advice. We were in triple room for three nights but we had extra guest the last night and it was no problem to add extra bed in the room.
Review 6:We obviously arrived at breakfast just after a busy time as their were no clean tables. A staff member soon came along and cleaned it, although I had to ask for some cutlery.
Review 7:We were in another building, looked slightly scruffy when walking over but once inside it was all clean and fresh. Room was a good size and lovely large walk in shower.
Review 8:Clean but they hadn't take time to refill shampoos or soaps, and it was stripped for cozy features making it a cold feeling. Windows were repaired with strip of tape in room, and there were no warm dishes in breakfast buffet.
Review 9:Internet worked fine. And location wise it was convenient for Höfn.
Review 10:Super Service - we called several times in the night about very late arrival and the Lady was very friendly although we waked her up several times - additionale we got late breakfast Thanks for that nicely treating once again!
Review 11:We payed a lot of money for this hotel only for the location near Vatnajokull glacier coming from the East Fjords (the glacier still was an hour drive, but hotels over there are very scarce). For 127 euros we only got a small room with shared bathroom and no other facilities such as kitchen, pool or hot tub. Payed far less for more quality elsewhere in Iceland.
Review 12:Breakfast was fabulous and very diverse. Beds were nice and had wifi.
Review 13:Really friendly staff, helped coordinate a horse riding tour for us last minute. Comfortable rooms, nice location just off Rte 1 a few minutes out of Hofn.
Review 14:We stayed in one of the annex rooms with a private entrance and bath. It was great! Easy location to find right off 1, and easy to get to other small towns in the area.
Review 15:Didn't like being excluded from the dining room because of large parties.
Review 16:staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, loved the shower and what a view. Good fish buffet meal
Review 17:This is a no-frills affair; it used to be a school and has retained its institutional flair, with only a cursory attempt to modernize. It is spartan, with sad lighting and strictly functional amenities.
Review 18:The south east of Iceland is a stunning place - the Vatnjökull Glacier and Barðabunga volcano dominate the views and activities - this hotel and Höfn are in a prime location. Hotel Jökull is perfect for hikers and travelers who just need a place to lay their head between excursions into the wilderness.
Review 19:It´s expensive, the rooms are uncomfortable and the shared bathroom is not clean, which is uncommon in Iceland. Also, the price for the breakfast is not included in the fare.
Review 20:it is much more out of town than expected, there is only buffet for dinner, rooms do not have the same standard we experienced in iceland before
Review 21:good parking space, quite easy to find, good breakfast
Review 22:The place was very, very clean, the room spacious and very comfortable, the price was a bit high with no breakfast, but the facilities made up for it. The decoration was very modern, and the room very quiet. The place had a restaurant but it was close drive to Höfn, so we chose to eat in the city. The staff was nice.
Review 23:the price for the food was a little steep for what you where getting..the breakfast was extra..;(
Review 24:nice modern Ikea style hotel. good breakfast and fish buffet for diner.nice room and views on the glaciers.not to far from Hofn...
Review 25:We had a private bathroom, which was great, but I could see the shared bathroom experience feeling like a dorm. It was clean though. Service in the dining room was also slow, but nice
Review 26:Breakfast was delicious!
Review 27:Breakfast was not included. Was pricey at $1200 isk pp so we stopped ata Café and had a coffee and Breakfast sandwick for $800 isk.
Review 28:This hotel had a gorgeous view. Rooms were huge and the bathroomwas very large also. Room had black out curtains as yep it wasdaylight at 4 am
Review 29:Good hotel if on road between Vik and Hofn. Caters to tour and bus groups but very friendly staff. Gave much help in finding little gems like a local glacier with lake and local geo-thermal bath.
Review 30:The beds separated easily and were quite firm. I don't think there was an option for a queen room so I'm not sure if there is a way around this.
Review 31:The hotel is very clean. We stayed in the 400 group of rooms (separate building) with an amazing unobstructed view of the glacial tongues. It was a very quiet area. Nice display of locally collected rock samples in the lobby to our building. We didn't try the restaurant but it looked nice.
Review 32:Seemed to be popular with tour buses
Review 33:Well signed and right on the Ring Road, adequate lodgings with good views (as I imagine all hotels in this area have) of glaciers and landscape, good selection of brochures to give you ideas if you haven't planned your next day, helpful staff
Review 34:Great rooms, good food. Great place for sleep over. This hotel suprised us positvely. Nothing fancy, but new large rooms, good food and friendly people.
Review 35:Location near road 1, so there is nothing around. No problem if you have a car (generally you can't get there unless on a car or if you have a bus tour). A little pricey.
Review 36:Location near road 1. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Review 37:It was like any other hotel -- impersonal and non-charmig.
Review 38:The hotel was not full and we did not have to wait for toilets or showers. The breakfast was lovely.
Review 39:Expensive (though not by Icelandic standards). No hot tub.
Review 40:Clean, modern, and well appointed rooms. Fantastic views. Good breakfast. Good location for getting to Jokullsarlon glacial lagoon.
Review 41:Bare, white rooms with not a hint of personality. The rooms felt very institutional. Shared baths, smelly hallways, expensive for what you get, and in dire need of updating. The rooms across the way at the Hotel Jokull looked like they might be better and are under the same establishment.
Review 42:Nice, friendly staff.
Review 43:Their attention to detail was lacking, and they seem to take a few short cuts on things. In the bathroom, the plastic covering on the windows didn't go all the way to the edges, so people could see inside. The shade of one light fixture was slightly broken. The decor felt a little cold and it smelled a little funny.
Review 44:We stayed here to be close to Vatnajokull National Park. The only room available when we booked was one with a private bath, which was nice. The room was large, with a tv and even a deck. We ate the buffet dinner at the restaurant. It was good food, although not a huge selection. While eating, we had views of the glacier.
Review 45:The exterior could use some landscaping.
Review 46:When we drove up to the hotel, I thought it had been abandoned. It was a summer afternoon when we arrived and other guests were likely enjoying the day. We checked in and found our room was in a newly remodeled building across the parking lot. Our room was perfect. It was a nice surprise and likely the best hotel we stayed at on our trip.
Review 47:Expensive breakfast that was very basic and no coffee in the room. LOTS of GIANT black houseflies that were very loud when buzzing around. I killed 2 of the 3 in the room then in the morning noticed in the shower a huge one that had been completely splattered on the ceiling. Other than this the rooms were quite clean, but this was especially gross.
Review 48:Nice location, great staff, generally clean rooms, and quiet. Nice view from the breakfast room.
Review 49:I did not like the showers (especially the shower head) it simply looked a bit dirty.
Review 50:Situated next to Street Nr. 1. Rooms have seen a lot of guests but were clean. Breakfast was rich and tasty!
Review 51:The only one plug in the room!! It is very inconvenient. But there are many blugs in public area, maybe the hotel hope you could use in public area><
Review 52:good location near hofn、Restaurant and public are very good
Review 53:Rooms were very clean, there was a sink in our room. Public toiletes and showers were also very clean and empty practically all the time. Breakfast was fine, but no fish. Stuff was very helpful, hotel is easy to find.
Review 54:Hotel is outside Hofn and not very close to anything really. Also quite pricey.
Review 55:Room was comfortable and breakfast was good - we added it to the room after seeing the nice spread on offer.
Review 56:The shared bathrooms weren't that clean; neither was the rom, really.
Review 57:Convenient location right off of the Ring Road, across from an N1 gas station, close to Hofn
Review 58:My daughter and I were traveling together. The staff were outstanding. The food was fantastic- I am not a big fish eater but ate Icelantic Char and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was very friendly and accommodating. Our best regards to the entire staff and owners!
Review 59:It feels like a hospital. Stark white cement everywhere with blue doors. Felt like they were going for a modern feel, but it really comes out unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Loud echos throughout the building when people close doors. This isn't the worst place I've stayed by a long shot, but I would certainly look for another location before setting here.
Review 60:Bed felt a bit larger than most other places we stayed in Iceland. Breakfast included waffles (though they ran out of syrup).
Review 61:A little too much like a dormitory. But we knew that going in.
Review 62:This place is just simple lodging and it suited our purposes perfectly! We arrived late, had dinner in Hofn and then left the next morning at07:30am. We paid in Euros and found it to be a great value. The frontdesk was helpful and accommodating - very kind & sweet. Some of theprevious reviews are a bit harsh. But stay here for no frills lodging ifyou only need a quick sleep and the ability to move on quickly.
Review 63:Hotel looks bad on the outside, but the rooms, and the interior of the hotel are clean and we'll maintained. The views on the western side are beautiful.
Review 64:1. The room was a bit small. 房間有一點點小, 如果行李很多會不太好攤開 2. No water boiler in room. 房間裡沒有煮水的水壺, 得跟櫃台要水
Review 65:Better than expected. Yes, this hotel is not new, but there are sufficient facilities, OK wifi signal, good breakfast, nice staffs, in-room sink, ...quite enough! The room, shower, WC are all clean. We think it was satisfactory for us.
Review 66:Nothing
Review 67:Spacious room and comfort beds
Review 68:A pit too overpriced for what was offered.
Review 69:Nice location and friendly staff, comfy bed.
Review 70:Not a lot of staff around during breakfast. Urn was empty so couldn't have a cup of tea
Review 71:Location
Review 72:Spacious room, seems newly decorated. Calm & peaceful ambiance. Good breakfast with good view. Last but not least, friendly service!
Review 73:Very polite and friendly staff! Recommend!
Review 74:Our double room had 2 single beds pushed together.
Review 75:The breakfast was great.
Review 76:A bit pricey for a private room without a toilet or shower.
Review 77:Breakfast spread was ample (no eggs though).
Review 78:good breakfast and comfortable bed. Did not need to pay extra for towels or duvet. staff was friendly. Also, free parking was nice.
Review 79:We could have used a refrigerator in the room but the hotel was happy to store or stuff in theirs.
Review 80:Location , size of room were excellent
Review 81:The praise
Review 82:Beautiful hotel, big room, fancy
Review 83:Nice large room (the outside of the building is plain, but inside is very nice). Good facilities. Close to Hofn.
Review 84:location, price and the best bouffet dinner i had in Iceland
Review 85:Only a few toilets in relation to the number of rooms. Old appearance structure.
Review 86:Good clean and free wi-fi. Good the breakfast.

Review 111:staff
Review 112:no elevator for 2nd floor guests
Review 113:The room was comfortable and clean, but very basic furniture with no extras like a kettle or anything.
Review 114:The breakfast was poor.
Review 115:The regulation of the temperature didn't work properly. That together with the afternoon sun made it impossible to stay there...
Review 116:Quite new.

Review 118:Tiny room, beds too soft, communal bathroom
