Reviews for Hillgrove Accommodation & Nightclub

Review 1:The staff here are great. If I remember correctly, it was a guy called Eamon I dealt with. Very helpful and genuinely friendly, as opposed to that 'have-a-nice-day' plastic friendliness that you often get in tourist spots. His hospitality was natural and didn't seem forced, I got the impression he likes what he does. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and simply great value. Everybody in our group was really happy. The location is very central to dingle town and right across the road from the Dingle Brewing Company, which is good if you like beer. Also it was perfectly located for us, as we wanted to drive over the Connor Pass early in the morning, the entry point to which was also just across the road.

Review 2:The only problem was that we booked the Hillgrove property, but they moved us to another property the DAY OF our arrival. So we showed up to Hillgrove and it was completely closed with a phone number on the door, which we called and no one answered. After an hour we got everything all figured out, and it was fine, but the experience was stressful/annoying.

Review 3:Nice rooms, good value breakfast, central location in town, helpful staff.

Review 4:Breakfast was poor, think it had been cooked a while before we were served it. We are elsewhere on the second morning.

Review 5:Staff at reception very welcoming and helpful, Lots of info and map of town provided.

Review 6:Just ignore the "Nightclub" in the title, it's only open on Saturday. The hotel is 7 minutes walk from town center but Dingle is a small & peaceful town.

Review 7:Staff were unfriendly, manager of this place is the most ignorant and unprofessional person we ever meet. For same value you can get a much nicer place in Dingle. Rooms were quite disgusting , smelly and dirty. We travel a lot and this is the worst place we ever been!

Review 8:There was nothing good about it

Review 9:Was called at 1 pm on the day and told that they dont have any rooms surprisingly and shifted to another bnb with sucha tiny room barely having space for a bed only. Very poor service by hillgroove

Review 10:Good location - easy parking - great checkin - staff - good value - we stayed on a Saturday night and the nightclub was open - we could hardly hear anything and during the night there was a couple of people we could hear on the way to their rooms but bang for buck we were very satisfied :)

Review 11:It is quite close to the town centre but so far away when you have a lot of luggage like we did!

Review 12:The hotel was really quiet, the room big and there was a bath so nice stay! Good to have the Lidl just in front of the hotel! Staff also very friendly and clear explanations.

Review 13:nothing to complain about

Review 14:The staff I met were fantastic. It was very quiet and a good location.Breakfast was the full Irish and it was only delicious.

Review 15:Beds were of varying comfort, but that is an individual perception.

Review 16:Staff very friendly and accommodating. Good location to town. Spacious room with separate bathroom.

Review 17:Despite the name this place is very quiet. Only a bit off the main road but well worth it. The staff were great and the breakfast was very good. I would recommend this place for sure.

Review 18:Pungent smell in bedroom (no 3) Bathroom flooded after taking shower, screen was in place and shower curtain was fully pulled across inside bath.

Review 19:Central location

Review 20:Due to a night Club next door it could be noisy on weekends. We were there during the week and it was no problem

Review 21:Large reovated rooms Good breakfast Friendly staff

Review 22:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and bright and the bed was very comfortable. The nightclub is only open on weekends so it was nice and quiet at night during the week.

Review 23:Sausages were not that great and pillows a bit hard but they are personal preferences.

Review 24:Lovely shower, spacious nicely decorated clean room. Bagel with cream cheese smoked and salmon for breakfast highly recommended. Two minute walk from the main street Lidl across the road two if you are on a budget. Would be my first choice if visiting Dingle again.

Review 25:The only thing I would want them to work on is the acoustics of the hotel as you can hear people going into their rooms and doors banging on & off.

Review 26:Overall the location and set up of the hotel were quite good. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful to us. They helped up with routes to go sight seeing and made sure we always had clean towels and clean rooms.

Review 27:nothing for someone who is only starting up they are doining a great job, I would recommend this place to anybody re james kenna

Review 28:spotless clean and very nice people loved it thanks a lot for a nice staythis is

Review 29:Not impressed booked this hotel for my parents & my aunt, fawlty towers is the only way to describe it , charged my card even tho it was paid for in cash at reception , to get to speak with the hotel is like mission impossible. No direct phone line in. Keep Clear of this place.

Review 30:Tv not working ,no hot water ,dirty old matteress on beds ,only one staff working ,no atmosphere at all ,over priced for the service provided ...shabby decor

Review 31:Staff member evo . . He helped with all the problems we encountered

Review 32:We enjoyed our 1 night passing through ! Very friendly staff , with lots of local tips on were to go things to see ! He even off to open the night club dance floor at lunch so we could practice. Our moves

Review 33:It felt more like a motel than a hotel and I'd a bit dated even though the rooms have been freshly painted

Review 34:The hotel was in easy walking distance of the center of the town

Review 35:Renovations are in progress and have advanced beyond the bedrooms the general areas need a refresh and this in progress. If the shower is on full there is a tendency to overflow on to the floor the owner is aware and addressing it

Review 36:The bedroom was comfortable and a good size when compared to other B&Bs the bathroom was a good size and the shower was good

Review 37:TV in the room was car-sized and placed so high, that watching was virtually impossible from bed.

Review 38:Marvelous breakfast, big and comfortable room, accommodating staff, great location and ample parking, you could not believe there was a night club in the same building.

Review 39:We both loved our stay at Hillgrove Hotel, we had all the facilities we needed and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The Hotel is located very close to the town centre and most attractions. We would definitely come again if we're ever in Dingle. Thank you!

Review 40:The room was spacious and well equipped, the accommodation is near the centre - five minute-walk to the best pub! We enjoyed the excellent breakfast and last not least we want to mention that Sean and Evo were really helpful and friendly. We will book again with you should we ever come back to Dingle.

Review 41:The fellow told us before we checked in that there was a hens and bucks night there that night. Staff were extremely helpful in the morning with directions.

Review 42:So many drunk people waking us up constantly in the middle of the night, when they were going back to their rooms.

Review 43:Very nice staff, good facilities and parking.

Review 44:Can't really fault much at all

Review 45:Staff were very friendly and accomadating , rooms we're clean and spacious . It was great value aswell especially as it was a bank holiday weekend

Review 46:Well we where told there was a night club, and that our room would be quite. Well it was quite rowdy after the club closed which was very loud in the room. The the revellers all managed to make a right old racket till the early ours. ( did notify the desk, who said he have a word) Anyway next morning the owner managed to knock 10 euro of the price, what a champ! the room was freshly decorated hence the overpowering smell of paint during the night.

Review 47:We the decor was ok, room must been painted that day & location to town, but hey i trying to be nice!

Review 48:At first glance it looks like a place that should be on one of those 'holiday nightmare' tv shows. The hotel itself is very outdated, our room wasn't too bad. Clean sheets. Funky smell. Super loud from the club attached to the hotel and some young couple had a massive row outside our window at 3am. Not good value for money.

Review 49:Checking out. The guy at reception was always friendly.

Review 50:It needs to be updated and fast. at €70 a night excluding breakfast is steep considering it's a glorified hostel. Staff were really decent though.

Review 51:Location is good- 2 min walk to village.

Review 52:Locaton was great, Staff were very helpful, especially Pascal The Night Porter and receptionist was fantastic nothing was a bother to her, stayed here on a bank holiday Sunday with a group of my friends and found it fantastic, Thanks again

Review 53:The shower head is a bit wonky--wouldn't stay in position and had to hold it the entire time. The room was a bit crowded.

Review 54:Shawn, the hote proprietor. He was extremely accommodating and welcoming and absolutely made our stay a pleasant experience.

Review 55:Nothing

Review 56:Staff were exceptionally friendly. The room was warm and the bed comfy. The shower was hot and powerful, and the beds were made, and towels changed daily. Great value for money too

Review 57:I stayed at Hillgrove with my wife and my parents (4 adults total) for one night. Because it was a weeknight (Monday), the night club wasn't open, so noise was very minimal. The room was overall very clean, with fresh sheets and plenty of room. The place showed a little wear, but nothing unreasonable. It's easy walking distance to downtown Dingle. The man at the desk was very helpful and friendly. Also, at least for our room, the Wifi worked great (he had said it might not work well in all rooms). For four people at 80 euro? Great deal. Didn't have breakfast there, so no idea if it's good or not.

Review 58:Very Little to dislike with the exception of the tired decor and in need of a good painting inside, But overall very comfortable.

Review 59:It was great value for money in an excellent location just off main street. Local shops and restaurant nearby. Sean the manager was very pleasant and facilitating.

Review 60:Entrance shabby, broken glass on ground outside nightclub was never removed, no hot water in tap, beds tiny, would never stay there again, would rather sleep in my car, awful experience

Review 61:Used condom wrapper found on floor in room, worn mattress, too many spiders to count and hairs found in bed, bed had not been changed prior to our arrival or during our stay.

Review 62:Location and decent breakfast, friendly staff

Review 63:Hen party was there on the 2nd night we stayed, banging on doors and roaring at 3am in the morning so we couldn't get any sleep

Review 64:Staff were friendly, helpful and extremely courteous.

Review 65:Beds are very old & rooms badly need to be done up . Pictures of rooms are well staged . Place did it's purpose . Pillows are stained under the covers . Towels even though washed had stains on them & badly need to be replaced . Hotel needs a face lift & rooms need money to be spent on them

Review 66:Location was good Place is clean .. Staff are doing their best . Basil fawlty came into questions . Between making beds , covering reception & cutting hedges & grass .

Review 67:Rooms became very overheated possibly due to flat roof of building - would benefit from air com. Heat made sleep difficult. Furnishings quite shabby looking particularly the carpets.

Review 68:Location was great Great value for money Good breakfast Pleasant staff

Review 69:Just be aware, that since it is a nightclub/hotel there is a fair amount of noise late into the night when the nightclub is open.

Review 70:Staff is very accommodating. Close to town without having to be right in town. Walking distance to town and grocery store. Free and safe parking. Nightclub on premises, if that is your thing.

Review 71:Staff were extremely nice & accommodating. They did everything possible to make our two night stay comfortable. I have never been to a hotel where staff have been so lovely. Despite the slightly dated decor, I would stay here again due to staff and location.

Review 72:any time we passed - the bar was not open. there seemed to be only one person managing the place. the tv in the room was tiny and cant have been much bigger than 14 inch. while we were out during the day - our room was cleaned and they left the large window wide open - as we were on the ground floor and all our things were in the room - we were not impressed.

Review 73:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 74:we had 3 single beds in our room and they just moved the desk over so there were wires above my bed which my 6 year old wanted to sleep. And would have chocked if she did.Shower took forever to get hot water out of it .Very nosisey and loud doors slamming late at night good for young people but not familys .

Review 75:The man on recepition was very helpfully and friendly .

Review 76:Dirty carpets...rooms outdated...doors closin loud with keys not cards...grounds outside window overgrown with weed up to sills...shared nightporter with another hotel/bar..no residents bar attended..breakfast was heated in microwave..smartass servin told me i (38) was so much like my younger sister (my mum 75) and acted shocked when i said we were mother daughter..think he thought she was payin n wanted a tip...would never go back there

Review 77:Leavin it...

Review 78:Wifi was only available in the reception area but this was only a very small thing.

Review 79:Really friendly staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Great location and very comfortable rooms. Highly recommended.

Review 80:The bedroom faced the sun so was oppressively hot. The pillow was synthetic and uncomfortable. Its position as advertised is not as close to the main street in Dingle, just a bit too far out of town after a meal in the main street

Review 81:The night manager was helpful, he provided a fan to circulate the air in the room. However, it was good value for money and neat and clean.

Review 82:Damp smell everywhere, rooms damp and a musty smell everywhere, arrived very late 23.00 and that was the only reason I stayed had it been earlier I would have left and tried to find another hotel

Review 83:Location and staff very friendly

Review 84:I would have liked a softer pillow but that's a personal preference.

Review 85:The safe were very helpful and efficient. The room was very clean and large.Fantastic shower. We had breakfast and it was very fresh and cooked to perfection.I would recommend to a friend.

Review 86:If there is a night club night I wouldnt book in there but there wasn't and it was fine
