Reviews for Dingle Skellig Hotel

Review 1:I found the room rate very expensive at 215 euro per night. The room was not very spacious and consisted of a very small double bed and a single bed.

Review 2:Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Good variety of activities for kids. Food was of a very good quality and a very substantial breakfast.

Review 3:We stayed in this hotel new year.stuff was very busy.(But stuff was very kind and friendly). We arrived in the hotel around 4pm but room was not ready, we have to wait one hour.No towel in Swimming pool.changing room was very duty and swiming pool area's shower was broken.

Review 4:Staff is very friendly and kind.breakfast is so tasty. View is fantastic.the room is nice.

Review 5:Bit expensive, room need a little upgrade. It would be nice to have complimentary free drinking water in the rooms for a 4 star hotel

Review 6:Friendly & helpful staff & nice atmosphere. Cosy bar to relax. Great location. Great choice for breakfast. Also had a beautiful dinner in the restaurant.

Review 7:On a particularly windy night an ill-fitting window in need of attention was noisy and draughty.

Review 8:Comfortable and welcoming hotel in best position for exploring Dingle peninsula in November. Good facilities and choice of eating options.

Review 9:the bed was the most uncomfortable I ever slept on. Really bad mattress. I had to get out of the double bed in the middle of the night and move to the single bed to get some sleep. I slept ok in the single bed. The mattress was better

Review 10:Lovely bar area. was at wedding - food was fabulous. Function room was lovely - décor gorgeous. location on waterfront fabulous. breakfast gorgeous

Review 11:The bathroom needs updating. Very expensive for 3 nights. No iron in room.

Review 12:The breakfast was fantastic. The location was excellent and the staff very friendly. Family friendly.

Review 13:Smell of mould in room when we arrived Breakfast only ok way too expensive - 190 for room last saturday- I could have got a five star for that amount

Review 14:Staff

Review 15:The room was very basic and definitely not worth what we paid for it. It was badly in need of refurbishment and it was cold. There were no extra blankets in the room so I used the duvet from the additional single bed. There were no individual toiletry sets in the bathroom and the towels were not dirty but stained. I am generally not that fussy but when you are paying top dollar I expect value for money. We got some spa treatments which I paid for on check out. After the treatments I spotted a 25% off spa voucher in our room which we received on check-in. I tried to use this checking out but was told that I should have presented it at the spa. Luckily there was a discrepancy in the bill which I pointed out and was rewarded for my honesty by having the 25% applied after all. Bad form I thought to have rejected this in the first place when clearly it was not a problem.

Review 16:Location was great and the spa was lovely. Breakfast was also good.

Review 17:Didn't get a room with a view. Staff wasn't very friendly. Hotel felt dated - could use updating.

Review 18:Beautiful view from restaurant. Huge buffet breakfast. Nice fitness center.

Review 19:We loved the total relaxation of it all. The view of Dingle Bay from the dining room was just super and the buffet breakfast had everything you could possibly think of.

Review 20:Was told I was getting an up grade on my room but was only looking out at cows in a field ???? one of the tea cups had a black crack on it and small handle was missing off one of the presses does details should be looked at I work in a hotel myself so I no what I should expect but over all Fab hotel I will go back

Review 21:Fab place to stay very relaxing

Review 22:Bedrooms very old fashioned not very nice considering price

Review 23:Staff were lovely particulary those serving breakfast!! Nice views from hotel and we enjoyed using swimming pool with our baby girl

Review 24:It was quite a noisy hotel with many families staying. Our room was located was in the middle of the corridor and there seemed to constantly be children running up and down the corridor, particularly very early in the morning.

Review 25:We were very disappointed that more than half of the pool was roped off for swimming lanes all three days we were there which meant the part for kids was very, very crowded. I hated the big bottles of shampoo that were bolted to the shower wall. It was also bad that there was no mattress cover on the extra cot/ bed in the room so you could see the stripes and stains through the thin sheet.

Review 26:I liked that you could walk into town and not worry about parking. Staff was polite, breakfast was good and wifi decent.

Review 27:Got upgrade to executive room which was very spacious but no safe deposit box or mini bar in room. Room expensive

Review 28:Location was great near town centre and lovely scenery , staff very friendly and helpful .

Review 29:The beds were not very comfortable and one of the rooms was a wheelchair accessible room which we were not advised of. Carpets are outdated and the hotel in general needs an upgrade

Review 30:The breakfast was really good and an excellent selection

Review 31:No water in the room. Buffet breakfast was cold. Reception staff not overly welcoming and very business like on check out - the person who checked us out did not smile.

Review 32:Bar and restaurant staff very friendly and accommodating.

Review 33:For a hotel with so many rooms a sauna where you can place 3 people is a joke. 300€ a night for two is much too much. 120€ would have been more than enough. For such a price our expectations were much higher, for sure it was the last time we went there.

Review 34:The location

Review 35:Had a lovely stay at this hotel staff are really friendly, great location with superb views, great facilities for all age groups, would highly recommend it

Review 36:The timber in the bar and nice reception area is dark - which gives an old fashioned look. The hotel is very well maintained and beautifully clean. The breakfast can be mayhem with all the children. It would be nice if they could have a child free area of the dining room or oldies and not so old.

Review 37:There is a plastic undersheet on the bed - which makes it very uncomfortable anytime - not just in Summer. I detest when hotels do this! I know there is a cotton top to the plastic - but I woke up unusually Hot!! and I knew immediately what the problem was.

Review 38:The Wi-Fi was not great in our room

Review 39:The Staff were so friendly, the facilities for children are excellent, crèche in the morning and evening for the under 4's kitchen with micro-wave and steriliser for making bottles, washing machine and dryer. The food was excellent

Review 40:This hotel is a very comfortable, friendly and relaxing place to stay in Dingle. Staff very helpful and breakfast delicious. we will certainly return to this hotel again.

Review 41:The great staff who couldn't do more to help make the stay a memorable experience.. The relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel and the lovely Galarus lounge and of course the restaurant! Well done!

Review 42:difficult to open wardrobe in bedroom.

Review 43:friendly staff, good food, super spa&facilities.breathtaking scenery all round, loads of places to spend time in or at.

Review 44:The bedroom. Although kindly upgraded for free, the "queen room" was unremarkable; the bed was small and very firm, and the window fogged due to double glazing problem. Some staff seemed disinterested others helpful

Review 45:Quiet situation, short distance from Dingle's centre; lovely contemporary styled public areas; breakfast choice extensive wth a wide range of healthy wholesome options from cooked Irish, fish and eggs to order; a large selection of hams, cheese, yoghurt, seeds fruit and even mini scones with cream

Review 46:The only thing that I found to be a down side was the price as it is on the upper scale so it wasn't possible for us to stay for more than one night during our family break to Dingle which is a pity as this hotel was definitely a highlight of our stay!

Review 47:Wonderful localtion with beautiful views. Room was lovely and very clean. Friendly and very helpful staff. Pool is great with a good sized children's pool which my daughter enjoyed.(also a travel cot is situated in the changing room which is very helpful when trying to get changed with a little one!). Other fabulous children's facilities include a crèche/baby sitting if required, utility room, changing area and kitchen with sterilizers, microwave, kettle and fridge/freezer (this room is open 24/7 so amazing for those with young kids/babies.) They also have a TV room for kids that shows different movies throughout the day and both kids club and teen club rooms. And for the adults the food is super tasty and with the choice of eating in the bistro or restaurant and of course room service if you fancy a little more luxury! I loved this hotel and will definitely stay again

Review 48:not a bad experience, but prefer soap not in those dispensers, not always easy to get enough

Review 49:perfect location, walk into Dingle, beautiful view of the headland for breakfast, lovely musicians on Thursday night, no annoying fellow guests, bar meal really good as well as the sumptuous breakfast.

Review 50:We had a fantastic time - hotel had all the facilities we could hope for and the receptionist named "Catherine " couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating . Many thanks Catherine

Review 51:WiFi or lack of so frustrating in 2015 Room stuffy even with windows open and the weather was not hot by any meansout

Review 52:Swimming pool/ sauna breakfast selection has improved.

Review 53:Staff, location, facilities, customer service were brilliant. We had 2 year old and a 10 month old with us and everyone was more than accommodating. Exceptional Food. Highly recommend the Dingle Skellig.

Review 54:The hot food at breakfast was terrible- sausages were tasteless, rashers salty & scrambled egg cold, tomatoes terrible. I found reception staff not pleasant. I expect a hotel that charges 320 euros for Thursday & Friday night in May to serve a better hot food.

Review 55:The waitresses in dining room were very pleasant -reception staff could learn from them

Review 56:Did not feel it was a 4 star hotel . Expensive for what it was. Certain staff were rude (some were nice ).

Review 57:Nice breakfast. Good location. Some staff were helpful.

Review 58:While I truly enjoyed the experience I feel prices of overnight stay and dinner in restaurant were a little exorbitant

Review 59:I could sit in restaurant all day and enjoyed the bar and music at night. Staff were excellent

Review 60:Nothing not to like

Review 61:Location,View, pool, dining The reception staff were so gracious. They helped us with locating a missing necklace at our previous hotel. Dinning staff were so solicitous of our well being

Review 62:The location was perfect and the staff were very accommodating. We have a 2 year old and the crèche was brilliant, it gave us a chance to go out for dinner and lunch! Clean and beautiful hotel.

Review 63:Unfortunately the weather was not in our favour, and we got very wet coming back from the town

Review 64:Staff were friendly and very helpful, good selection for breakfast buffet. Enjoyed my chocolate spa treatment very relaxing. Beautiful views of the Bay once the weather improved

Review 65:Very very hot in the room when we arrived. I opened the windows but there wasn't much of a breeze coming in. Lighting was dark in the bedroom.

Review 66:beds were big and comfortable. Bathroom clean with big towels. friendly helpful staff. All good experience!

Review 67:Not applicable

Review 68:We arrived around 1pm. We were able to check in and go straight to the room to a bottle of champagne and chocolates as part of the Valentines weekend deal. The staff could not have been more helpful. We asked for information about Dingle and it's surroundings and we're given the full run down on where best to go. Delighted we went and even happier we stayed here. Will be back to stay again in the very near future, no doubt about it !!

Review 69:For a 4 star hotel there was no safe in the room. No water provided in the room.

Review 70:Rooms were amazing. Beds very comfortable. Spotless hotel. Pool was very nice.really enjoyed it.

Review 71:Room was very hot Housekeeping was poor and although a box of chocolates was left in our room the initial attitude of the housekeeping manager was poor when we complained

Review 72:Location was great Lovely breakfast & great selection Spa was lovely - great view from the hot tub!!

Review 73:Very satisfied with hotel, very comfortable, brilliant location by the bay with excellent views and within walking distance from town. Food/staff excellent

Review 74:Freshly cooked eggs as above.

Review 75:Very friendly staff and comfortable room. Always very pleased to see us on our annual visit to see relatives in ventry. Breakfast good but the "freshly cooked eggs" you could order were not always "freshly cooked" and had to be returned several times. Otherwise excellent stay.

Review 76:I stayed for 4 nights in a superior double room The bed was so uncomfortable with very poor mattress quality that I never managed to get a full nights sleep and ended up with severe back and shoulder pain.

Review 77:Tha hotel is beautifully positioned with access to Dingle within walking distance of the hotel . Food is excellent Breakfast is superb with a huge variety of hot and cold choices . The bar food is excellent also . The service in all areas is exceptional and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff is evident from the moment you set foot in the hotel . These attributes plus the amazing view of the bay from the restaurant each morning makes a return visit highly likely in the near future

Review 78:Nothing

Review 79:Amazing room with spectacular views of dingle bay. Comfy bed and extremely helpful staff. Was attending a wedding and the service and good were fab

Review 80:The bed was a bit small, I think it was a double.

Review 81:The staff were amazing, met by very friendly reception staff who went out of their way to help on arrival. The bar staff were also very helpful, a fly landed in my drink, which they replaced without a second thought. We ate in the bar one of the nights, the food was great value. Breakfast was a buffet & had everything you could think of. Overall very enjoyable stay.

Review 82:I was very disappointed that our room did not have a water view. It was my fault I suppose because I did not specify.

Review 83:There was alot going on like weddings, hen parties and so on. We like activity!

Review 84:The cleaning was a little bit below par in areas such as window cills, bathroom and spa shower room. I would have expected more.

Review 85:Location amazing, breathless views from dining room and jacuzzi. Loved the sitting areas.

Review 86:Extractor fan in the bathroom was not working. Minor item really.

Review 87:Great food selection and high quality ingredients. One of the best breakfasts that I have enjoyed this year.

Review 88:There was plenty of food for breakfast but we thought the quality of the food wasn't very good example of this was the bread used for the toast . We felt for a 4 star hotel better quality produced could have been used.

Review 89:The facilities are good , very comfortable hotel

Review 90:Only one washing machine and dryer took forever and cost you money. When your on holidays and from overseas you don't want to be buggering around with domestics

Review 91:We liked the location, friendly staff, nice rooms and plenty to do to keep everyone occupied.

Review 92:The room cleaning service was poor, we barely new that our bed had been made up and a wet towel was left draped over our daughters cot. The hotel is pricey for the standard of food and accomadation provided.

Review 93:The facilities for children are great and staff were brillant.

Review 94:The Dingle Skellig is beautifully located with stunning views! We attended for a wedding but have every intention of returning for a long weekend to relax! The receptionist was very helpful and bubbly! Very welcoming! The room was spotless! The hotel all round was clean well presented and there was a very peaceful atmosphere! My husband and I will be returning in the future! We would highly recommend it. The food presented at the wedding was second to none! Great place great views very friendly staff! All round a place to be highly recommended!

Review 95:We arrived hungry and tired after an overnight flight and two hour drive from Shannon. The staff was very welcoming and arranged for us to check in a bit early. The breakfast is fantastic and we even spotted Fungie

Review 96:The hotel is overpriced for a very dated, shoddy room. There was a huge dent in wardrobe and base of bed was ripped while whole appearance of room was unattractive. I had requested a sea view room but didn't get it till our last night! This room was better and same price as shoddy room which seems unfair!

Review 97:This hotel is excellent for children! A nice pool and well run crèche, kids club. Breakfast is good but order from menu for hot food as food in buffet tasteless and not so warm.

Review 98:The staff were friendly and tolerant of younger children which was refreshing and made the holiday a holiday for me too. The pool was perfect - temp, cleanliness and changing area. Dingle a fab location to get out and about.. I can't fault this hotel and will be visiting again...

Review 99:Nothing, will stay longer the next time

Review 100:We had a great stay at the Skellig hotel. The room was lovely, the choice of food for breakfast was second to none. Lovely relaxing time in the spa and the staff were very friendly.

Review 101:Reception area not impressive + no atmosphere in the bar area.

Review 102:All the staff were very nice + chatty, location onto the waterfront at the back was very nice.

Review 103:The rooms where a bit shabby, could do with a bit of a make over, didn't really match the rest of the hotel, which I thought was quite luxurious.

Review 104:Loved the spa, the restaurant and the grounds of the hotel, great view from where we had breakfast and nice to have a walk around aswell, staff were very helpful and down to earth.

Review 105:It was no wifi in the hotel . And theres no fridge in the rooms to keep water and drink cold

Review 106:I like the stuff in the hotel very freindly and helpfull

Review 107:too many kids running around, dated furnishings

Review 108:on water, good breakfast

Review 109:Nice hotel, great location, friendly staff!

Review 110:The shower head was too low down, it was fine for a small person but we are both quite tall

Review 111:Hotel over all was nice

Review 112:Lots and lots of kids running about.

Review 113:Being greeted with a glass of mulled wine and the location was beautiful.

Review 114:bar could be updated, limited lunch menu, no special offers staying for one or two nights

Review 115:Comfortable bed, friendly staff, nice food, nice spa

Review 116:That I had to leave

Review 117:Amazing rooms, lovely cosy bar, great staff

Review 118:There is no safe in the room.

Review 119:The breakfast is fantastic and the food in the restaurant and bar/bistro was also very good. Service was excellent.

Review 120:Rooms were a bit dated

Review 121:Breakfast, location, the view.

Review 122:Overheard a much lower rate being offered to another customer.

Review 123:Friendly staff and a great location with an amazing view.
