Reviews for Villa Castiglione Country House
Review 1:The decor made no sense.
Review 2:The surroundings are very peaceful with a nice view over the city. We got a promotion therefore it was real value for money. I guess the rooms are a bit outdated and the bathroom decor had nothing to do with the rest of the room. Our air conditioner was not working and that was the only downside. If it wasn't for that I would give this hotel a 5.
Review 3:Wifi didnt work at all (also not in public spaces), breakfast is very Italian - every day the same, too much sweat things, no vegetables, ham, etc.
Review 4:Beautiful location, friendly hosts, amazing spot to discover Tuscany
Review 5:The girl at the reception was kind of rude and didn't take much time for us when we checked in. When we arrived on a hot sunday afternoon, the first thing they told us was that the pool was closed because of a wedding. Pool is only opened from 10-18h!! Which is useless if you want to spend the day in Firenze and take a swim after coming back. Wifi didn't work during the entire stay. Each day they told us they were going to fix it but it didn't happen at all!
Review 6:Setting is beautiful. The hotel is on a hill very close to Firenze (by car). The view is beautiful. Breakfast is great. The guy who was in charge of breakfast was really nice and helpful.
Review 7:Everything was nearly perfect, however, one night there was a strange incidence in which two of the staff, with a rude tone, told us to stay away from the swimming pool. It was strange because the pool was actually beautifully lit so the ground around looked nice for a romantic stroll. Until now it is a mystery for us.
Review 8:Beautiful place! It's a converted monastery, the location is great if you're driving and planning to visit the Chianti area but still want to stay near Florence. The room is big! And there's a nice swimming pool.
Review 9:Breakfast could be improved. They organize all kind of events and sometimes there was loud music up until midnight (because of a wedding) or people talking really loud downstairs very early in the morning.
Review 10:Wow such a nice place, an old monastery turned into a hotel with all amenities and everything you need. We felt very welcomed and we enjoyed our 3 nights spent at the Villa Castiglione. Very clean, high quality amenities and nice room design. We had dinner there once and got some good Tuscan wine on the house.
Review 11:We didn't have just a bedroom --- it was more like a suite. The bed head was a stunning piece of art. The other art works in the downstairs room were just amazing. All the staff were friendly & helpful --- particularly Leonardo, Costanza & Alessandra. The chef presents food that not only looks good but is very, very tasty.
Review 12:I expected much more from thier restaurant. On the booking you could include diner for 25euro per person, we did not book it, but asked to do this when arrive but it was recomended just to book the table and pay for usual price. Wine that was suggested was not so good as we try in Florence or in wine shop.
Review 13:That is very nice hotel, located on the top of the hill in some castel. Very pleasent park on the hotel territory and nice view in the evening. Very easy to rich by car from the Florence. Big parking. Nice staff. Excelent wine shop is on the corner with the main road.
Review 14:one wish - breakfast is rather poor - more food variety would be great! we always here voices of our neighbors through the walls
Review 15:very beautiful & nice place with convenient location near Florence. Very interesting design of the rooms with romantic atmosphere, the restaurant food is very-very tasty! the bell tower seeing from the room window was ringing and this also made additional authentic atmosphere.
Review 16:Difficult to find due to confusing address info mentioned by the hotel. The place gets a little scary at night, needs more lights around.
Review 17:Everything was great!
Review 18:a little inconvenience: despite we paid for the rooms in advance, at arrival we had to prove the bank transaction
Review 19:beautiful and peaceful place with a nice view. the whole atmosphere is amazing! highly recommended 10-15 minutes drive from firenze center
Review 20:Dining out is the best option.
Review 21:View of Florence from the room. Spacious and comfortable a great stopping point to drive around Tuscany. Breakfast was good but be early.
Review 22:Very hard to find, address not on GPS, after our stay we found sign with te name of the hotel from the village of Tavernuzze. Staffmember tried to sell his meals for dinner without mentioning the price. This methode turned out wrong. High prices!
Review 23:Fine hotel
Review 24:Swimming pool is open 10am to 6pm. Breakfast was delicious but could be more rich.
Review 25:Smart and very helpfull staff. We have a small baby and can leave at 10:30am, normal is to 10am. Nice romantic hotel, romantic place with huge garden and good parking.Good and fast fifi connection in room and garden as well.
Review 26:Great location. Really good service by the staff! A place i Would visit again
Review 27:The room was very nice and overall there is a very nice view
Review 28:Some mosquitoes when sitting outside on hot evening!
Review 29:Great interior design features. Good breakfast and dinner. Helpful staff. Close to Florence.
Review 30:Hard bed, noisy aircon.
Review 31:Location, decor, room size.
Review 32:Colazione scarsa
Review 33:Location
Review 34:Clearer signs from the motorway.
Review 35:Wow what a setting!
Review 36:Wonderful location, near Florence, and nice view. It seem you are so far away in Tuscany.
Review 37:Very lonely, street no good and hard to find. If you like lonely safety and serenity, is a good choice.
Review 38:Tricky to find but after is really wonderful..:)
Review 39:Everything
Review 40:The photos we're misleading, didn't think it was nearly as nice. The decor was very strange.
Review 41:It was clean and had a nice view.
Review 42:I loved the design of the villa in general, an extravagant taste. The pool area is just beautiful .
Review 43:Was not happy that we had to pay an extra 80 euros because I paid with a different card than the one used to book the reservation, probably will not use booking.com again for this reason.
Review 44:Friendly staff great location and relaxed atmosphere.
Review 45:If you do not have a car, it will be hard to reach hotel and there are no facilities around hotel. But, by car it is easy. But hotel has a few name in the google maps, internet site, iphone maps, and the signs in the roads, hotel is using different names. (derived from "Casa per Ferie Villa Castiglione") we had hard to find, although we used all electronic equipment. better to look for the signs and internet by using name "villa castiglione" or some similar names.
Review 46:Fresh air, great breakfast. hotel's breakfast is handmade, especially the croissant hotel delivered at the breakfast, was the best of my life. if you have a car, better to stay in that hotel, rather than city center.
Review 47:We had a car but driving into the city is difficult. We discovered thatcatching the bus from the bottom of the hill to be the best way and thenit was very easy. No kettle is always dissapointing but I've foundthis to be common in Europe. Otherwise no complaints!
Review 48:This was a great place to get away from it all. A cute hotel attached toan old church in the middle of the Tuscan countryside. Decor is quirkybut I personally enjoyed a change to the same old modern boring style. But I think what made our trip was the restaurant. The staff wereextremely helpful and the meals were amazing. They were modern gourmetdishes and I can't recommend it highly enough.
Review 49:It is a little far to go, you would have a hard time if you dont have a car.
Review 50:Hotel was amazing, in a green area and a great view. It is a very romantic hotel:)
Review 51:Nothing really. The room decor was not really my taste (art deco) butthis was not a problem
Review 52:The setting is very nice in an old monastery on top of a hill. Thebreakfast was freshly made pastries and was delicious. One of the fewplaces in Italy that had fruit and muesli for breakfast. The rooms werevery spacious
Review 53:On arrival there was no obvious reception so we circled the building a couple of times before deciding to "gatecrash" a private winetasting event to gain entry as the main entrance was locked. No staff approached us to book us in for some time. On our last night we decided after a long day sightseeing to eat at the hotel in the evening, only to be told there was no chef there but we could have salad vegetables, bread, cheese and salami. The bread was stale and inedible and for these delights we were charged over 40 Euros. I was disgusted. Breakfast was rather poor and although down in plenty time our first morning, the platters had not been replenished and we had to make do with the little choice that was left. Our second and third mornings we were having to leave a little earlier than the 8.30am breakfast start and on one occasion we were given a "free" espresso each to compensate!!! We had no choice but to eat there as this hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Also, we booked our trip to Cinque Terre through the hotel's reception and they neglected to arrange our free early morning pick up which was included in the substantial cost of the trip, thus costing us a further 28 Euros into the pick up point. This hotel is definitely not geared up for city break travellers. On a whole, very disappointed with the lack of facilities for the price.
Review 54:Beautiful setting. Hotel was clean and most of the staff were helpful.
Review 55:Don't even think about going there if you have not previously booked a car. The hotel is on top of a hill and it is absolutely impossible to reach it on foot. You cannot also rely on Firenze bus service, we regreted doing it. Also, our towels and bed sheets were not even changed once during our one week stay.
Review 56:The surroundings are wonderful. The hotel is in the middle of the forest and the view is beautiful. It should be ideal for a summer vacation, as someone could also enjoy the outdoor pool. The breakfast is delicious, though there is no big variety. The rooms are spatious and comfortable.
Review 57:the late hour of 8 am for breakfast
Review 58:we enjoyed the quiet, the privacy, the excellent rooms and especially the friendly staff - notably the warm, friendly, helpful welcome from martina. she was superb!
Review 59:The hotel is set on a large piece of property making it very quiet at night and has an outdoor pool. The quality of the food in the restaurant was quite good.
Review 60:This hotel has rooms located in a monastery in the same area where thechurch is. Church is very lovely, open just for weddings and specialocassions. In a chappel in the residence there is a mess twice a day.Hotel located on a hill, with beautiful panorama. Rooms clean anddesigned in a nice Dali style. Cosmetics in the bathroom by Fragorard:) There is a bus stop down the hill that makes Florence city centre ina reach of 30 min ride. Just don't go to the bus stop after dark asthere are no lamps on the street and it is not the best experience youwant to have during holidays :) In the night better to take a taxi (20eur one way).
Review 61:The signs to find the hotel could be better
Review 62:High overall standard and special design of the interiour. Good food at the restaurant and good service. Good value for the money.
Review 63:Location ideal for a stay near Florence if you have a car. It took only 10 minutes to drive to Piazza Michelangelo (free parking) and walk into the centre of Florence. Easy access from the autostrada so all in all a perfect setting for a stress free stay near the city. We had our 6 yr old with us so the extra bed for a small extra cost and the swimming pool made the stay easy with a young child.
Review 64:I chose this place because I wanted to be outside of Florence in thecountryside and yet visit the city with ease. I only recommend thisplace for people who are driving, but once one gets there, it isperfect. One can get directions to find free parking and a bus toFlorence, so it's stress-free. The decor is so much fun! And the serviceis perfect !
Review 65:perfect location kindly and helpful staff toscanian atmosphere
Review 66:The dinner menu was Italian "art"
Review 67:Location near main road into Florence with bus route, and adjacent free parking.
Review 68:Not so easy to find.
Review 69:Everything was ok. Good breakfast. Nice swimming pool. Nice restaurant.
Review 70:Ants in our room, blamed on us- until we pointed out the crack in the floor where they were coming in...
Review 71:Beautiful views.
Review 72:Location from the main road. Room was very cold.
Review 73:We loved the view.
Review 74:Noisy untill 01 30 ( Some private party). Poor breakfast
Review 75:You need a car as the bus to Florence is quite far away.
Review 76:An awesome place all around, close to Florence, yet in the countryside.
