Antico Borgo Poggiarello

Antico Borgo Poggiarello descritpion
Antico Borgo Poggiarello offers beautiful apartments nestled among the woods and vineyards of the Chianti Hills, not far from Siena.
Enjoy comfortable accommodation in the heart of Tuscany's green countryside. Antico Borgo Poggiarello is set in a former 17th century village.
The establishment also comprises an ancient tower of the 9th century. Sit at its base and enjoy a breathtaking landscape.
Each of the Poggiarello's 14 apartments is charmingly furnished in original Tuscan style, and provided with modern commodities, including satellite TV and internet connection.
The Antico Borgo also offers a swimming pool, surrounded by green olive trees and close to the woods. The establishment's most relaxing facility is probably the ancient-Roman thermal bath, a cave containing water with temperatures of 95-100°F.
The Palio Di Siena restaurant offers the best foods of the traditional Tuscan cuisine and, of course, the best wines of the Chianti Siena area.

Reviews for Antico Borgo Poggiarello
Review 1:no balcony to see the view from the room.
Review 2:We found a magical place hidden at the end of a winding road. We visited at an off season time and therefore some facilities where closed but we got a chance to meet the warm and wonderful people who run the place. Paulo, who was picking olives and teaching us about them and the oil they make. Grazia, who was very warm, made us a great coffee for breakfast and let us taste some of their home made oil. The location is truly exceptional but the people where the highlight of our stay.
Review 3:Don't let the winding roads you need to travel on to reach the property put you off. It is well worth it! You won't be disappointed.
Review 4:The actual location, views and the property itself are lovely. Received a friendly greeting upon arriving at this family run property. A delicious four course menu is set each night using local produce. However, if you prefer, you could make use of the kitchen in your room. The grounds are nice and it has a very large pool. Would gladly recommend to family and friends.
Review 5:7 km to the nearest town, but for someone it can be advantage :)
Review 6:if you want to spend a fantastic holiday in the charming Tuscany, close to all the things and places "must see", under the supervision of caring owners and a great cook, this is the place for you ....
Review 7:Apartment cooker didn't work - and no kettle to boil.
Review 8:Beautiful location, well worth the drive up a rather twisty road. Our 9 year-old loved the large swimming pool, and we all - both meat eaters and vegetarians - liked the authentic Tuscan cooking. Outstanding value!
Review 9:I loved everything about this place but please note it is a bit of a drive if you want to go out a lot.
Review 10:Beautiful location with panoramic views. Amazing place with wonderful hosts! So peaceful and relaxing. Food in the restaurant is fantastic!
Review 11:Beautiful place. Quiet in the middle of nature but still close to attractions (Sienne, San Gimignano, ...). Incredible panorama view. Large swimming pool. Very kind people who speak english. Excellent food. We recommend the daily menu. Apartment was really nice, clean and fully equipped.
Review 12:The only complaint I have is that the wifi is not the fastest. But whywould you want to spend any time on the internet up here? Bring a goodbook & you'll be fine.
Review 13:This was an excellent place to stay. We did not want to leave. Our kidsloved the pool. The views were breathtaking. The hosts were amazing.Wine - awesome. Food - incredible. I have nothing bad to say. (Afterstaying here and eating in various restaurants around Italy, we'vedecided that dinners in heaven will be catered by Italians.)
Review 14:We stayed in the Aquila apartment, which is the one as you enter the complex. It was very pleasant, but there was no air conditioning in the lounge/kitchen area..... The only a/c was in the bedroom, which was fairly noisy in comparison to other a/c units we've encountered. Due to there being no a/c in the main room, we had to keep the window shutters closed to keep the temperature bearable which made the living area extremely dark..... I would say impracticaly dark because the lighting was very minimal. The bathroom is also dark and had no place to store any toiletries, so they were kept on the stairs. The kitchen had no oven, which wasn't a problem. The walls of the apartment were so thick that you cannot get WiFi anywhere inside. You can get it outside though, which was something but annoying as the apartment is sold with Wifi. I know I've said a lot about the things that annoyed me but generally it's a lovely place. The outdoors was amazing..... maybe the other apartments are better equipped, but this one had a few too many things that were missing from the advertised items.....
Review 15:Amazing location with very good outdoors facilities. Easy to get to all the main tourist areas.
Review 16:Charging for breakfast (€9 each), and dinner is a bit pricy too (€30 each)
Review 17:Very nice location - relaxing! Excellent pool (was cleaned daily during our stay) Very friendly host family
Review 18:The bed was really hard
Review 19:The evening meals were some of the best food we had ever eaten. They were happy to make special meals for the children too. The views are amazing, beautiful sunsets. Good size, clean pool. Well renovated property.
Review 20:We found it a pitty that the outdoor pool was already closed for the season and it still was 27 degrees C during the day. But temperatures dropped in the late afternoon, so we understood why ...
Review 21:Excellent location, beautiful views on the Tuscan countryside and San Gimignano. Very friendly staff, lovely meals at night, nice wines ... recommended for some quiet nights after visiting all the Tuscan hightlights. Its central location makes it a good base to visit Sienna, San Gimignano, Volterra and after an hour drive Florence as well.
Review 22:- Locale is far from hilltop towns; - This was the first disappointing Karen Brown recommendation; - Bed felt like it was 14 yr. old; exterior light came thru sheer curtains in our BR; - Dinner was mediocre & expensive (31 E/pp!); - They charged for mediocre breakfast (9 E/pp)--no other B&B charged us
Review 23:- Father & son were nice & congenial
Review 24:The WiFi could be a bit more stronger, but considering the location, it is understandable.
Review 25:This beautiful location was very calm and peaceful with a breathtaking view. The apartment was pretty big and clean, we had a nice sleep there. The staff was very kind. Great breakfast.
Review 26:The location is beautiful! The staff, especially Paolo, are very friendly and welcoming.
Review 27:The owners were fantastic. The food was to die for. Superb
Review 28:none
Review 29:excellent breakfast, superb food in the evening, spacious, very friendly and helpful hosting family
Review 30:Minimal furniture in apartment eg nowhere comfortable to sit inside. No outlook from living area. No oven or microwave.
Review 31:a bit high bill for the dinner, but it was great experience over all
Review 32:very nice welcoming owners, great dinner, great wine, panoramic views
Review 33:Family-run hotel, great staff - honest and friendly, willing tocommunicate. Tasteful breakfast, perfect coffee, variety of typicalTuscany food. Four course dinner menu with local wines, a must foreveryone. Unforgettable view over the surrounding hills.
Review 34:We liked everything! Great place where you can just relax and enjoy amazing nature, fresh air, good food, peacefullness. If it's needed it's about 15 minutes by car to get to the nearest (huge) supermarket.
Review 35:The restaurant meals were inconsistent. First dinner we had was fabulous- dined in again on our last night and the food served was 2 day-oldleftovers. Couldn't finish our plates...
Review 36:Excellent accommodations. Views make you want to retire and move toTuscany. Clean, spacious rooms. Staff was very kind and made sure ourstay was memorable.
Review 37:Having to leave.
Review 38:The Chef was truly original and each dish was superb at modest costs as a bonus. The location ensured peace and tranquility. The family who ran the hotel were exemplary. The apartment we stayed in was spacious, fully equipped, and spotless.
Review 39:Nino,Roberto and Paolo were fantastic, they very much made you feel at home and made the stay very enjoyable! Food was great,as was the morning coffee. Great selection for breakfast. The views were stunning. A five star stay!!
Review 40:Apartment ( for 2-4) people was very small, poorly equipped and very basically furnished. We stayed for a week and the room was never cleaned or serviced in that time. There was no storage space apart from 1 wardrobe . There were 3 of us , and I think the apartment would be extremely cramped for 4 people.
Review 41:Fabulous location and views, lovely outside terrace.
Review 42:I booked this hotel because it was listed as being in Monterigggioni. Itis miles and miles from the town, way out in the countryside, downwinding unpaved roads. Two google maps and one Tom-Tom later, we foundthe hotel. More suitable for a week- long stay at a resort for a familythan a one-night stopover in Tuscany.
Review 43:The family atmosphere was very nice. The setting was beautiful and thefamily that owns the resort were kind and welcoming.
Review 44:The only "other" was it was a little more expensive than we expected. Wehad dinner and breakfast (which was wonderful) and was not expecting itto be as expensive. However, this would not have been as surprising hadI asked prior to the meals, and the food was worth it!
Review 45:It was a beautiful area! This agriturismo is top notch, especially forthose looking to experience the Tuscan coutnryside! Nino, Roberto andtheir family were absolutely wonderful! The food was amazing, as well asthe Roman Bath!
Review 46:lovely location! charming place, with authenticity. The dinners were delicious, although slightly expensive. However, the staff is very flexible and can custom make for your appetite/ budget.
Review 47:It took us a while to realize we were not "in the middle nowhere", butvery close to wonderful things and in a place that can also be very selfcontained. Besides, if you lack something, you need'sulk. The owner(Nino) will see you get it.
Review 48:We loved the location, with beatiful views and surrounded by olivetrees. The drives from the borgo to near by pearls such as the centrostorico de Col Val d'Elsa and Monteriggione are stunning. Then you have40 minute drives to San Geminiano, to Siena, to the Chianti hill toptowns. You can easily fill an unforgettable week with a mix of tuscanhistory, art, panoramic views and nature, not to mention delicious foodin osteriias and traattorias scattered all over the place. We also lovedthat Borgo Pogiarello is family run. You have your independentappartment with your own kitchen, but you can eat great Italian meals atnight in the borgo's restaurant. It is no minor asset that this magicplace can qualify as agroturismo and still give you the assistance andthe kind of warmth you hope to find in your travells.. This is, you areindependent, but not on your own!. Another asset is the pool amidst theolive trees we could still dip into the first week of October.. So yes,we feel the price was reasonable, and our stay there memorable. Ps:Nino's capuccino had passion . Out of this worl.
Review 49:family run resort in charming part of Tuscany, amazing service, incl. large pool between trees , great cuisine (breakfast, especially dinner) , very kind and helpful people, very close to main attraction of Tuscany -15 km Siena, 40 Firenze, 20km area of Chianti, other Etruschi monuments)
Review 50:I loved that it was located out in the Tuscany countryside. Thelandscape was beautiful and was exactly the scenic location we werelooking for.It was a great location for family. We have older kids and they enjoyed staying here also. The apartment had separate bedrooms and they each had a separate beds to sleep in and of course the pool was appreciated by all family members. One other item to note was the food was great. We really enjoyed eating here and watching the Euro soccer tournament with everyone.
Review 51:The swimming pool and restaurant were not open the first day (main reasons of 2-day visit) and we were not informed up front. The hot tub is €30/hr.
Review 52:Beautiful panoramic views, spacious and clean room. Nice area.
Review 53:The place was fantastic as assured me by family who stayed there last year. Nino and Roberto were outstanding hosts for their breakfast and dinner we purchased separately. I've never responded to one of these surveys however would not be doing justice if I didn't for this one. My wife and I plan to return to the region with our kids in the future and will definitely work our travel dates around the availability of this wonderful bed and breakfast. Very clean, modern and comfortable.
Review 54:It helped that Leda at Monteriggiano's info office drew us a map to getthere. You can self cater but then need to stock up before arriving atAntico Borgo as there is no deli just around the corner.
Review 55:The setting of the hotel, is the outstanding feature of Antico Borgo. Ifone wants to go off the beaten track and experience quietness, we evensaw a deer while wondering the tracks into the forest behind the hotel, this is the place after the hustle and bustle of the Tuscan towns. Forus personally, the attention to the dinner we had, the quality of theingredients and the care in which it was presented was thehighlight, this was not food to fill the stomach of an undiscerningtourist but good wholesome wonderfully tasting food which you would wantto serve your loved ones. (A)Nino's son is the chef) Even the breakfastthough modest was of the best meats and cheeses and home backedbreakfast cake. We also enjoyed the fact that this was a family runestablishment and that everyone, young and old had a role to play inmaking it a stay with a personal and warm touch.
