Reviews for Grand Hotel Don Juan
Review 1:the quality of the mattress on the bed.
Review 2:the position with respect to the beach, the see water, the sand. the august 15th dinner the big umbrela and the distance between the umbrellas.
Review 3:I stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and it appears they have not spent a penny on it since. The food if you choose to go half board was the worst food I have ever had in Italy.
Review 4:Everything was good only if you are not eating pork there was no other option except eggs...but it was minor problem...
Review 5:Place is awesome...with own beach... Workers are friendly which not always the case here in Europe ...
Review 6:Staff at bar, beach, pool, housekeeping are very good. I extended my stay by one day with the front desk and I Thought everything was ok. I was confronted by the manager accusing me of not checking out on time. She was loud and unprofessional and realized her mistake without an apology. I Think she lambasted her staff after I left. I have stayed here for many years and I should have been treated better.
Review 7:This is hardly a 4 star hotel. They charge you for anything, even though you don't use it. 3,60 € per day for "service costs" and everyone has to wear a bathing cap. The only right one is the one they sell you for 3 euros. I will not reccomend families with chirldren to stay here. One out of five people working in the reseption spoke english. Overprized bar.
Review 8:Nice pool, good coffee and good location.
Review 9:The breakfast - needed more fruit, less cakes swimming caps in the pool!!
Review 10:Great location, friendly staff, extremely accommodating to every request - reasonably priced - would highly recommend for a relaxing break
Review 11:The wifi was broken during our stay and the choice for breakfast wasn't the best, however there was always something to eat
Review 12:The pool area and proximity to the beach are fantastic!
Review 13:Staff at breakfast was horrible! Not one time did anyone smile and we had to hunt them down and ask for everything. Several times getting out coffee from the bar tender ourselves. Could use serious service training for the staff! Walls very thin and could hear the TV next door very clearly! Thanksfully the occupants checked out after only one night during out stay and it was quiet. Would have been very unhappy listening to their noise!
Review 14:The hotels proximity to the beach was perfect and breakfast was wonderful...weather permitting the terrace was a great place to enjoy it with wonderful caffe'. Room had a lovely view of the ocean and beach with a very large balcony.
Review 15:Loved the staff.. They may our stay wonderful. We were staying there because my son was getting married near by... I planned a rehearsal dinner for 27 of our family and friends from the United States. I emailed the head of reception and they helped my plan. The dinner was absolutely wonderful. The view outside our room overlooking the ocean was fabulous.
Review 16:Quality of the hotel - it is very used, needs urgent refurbishment but no one cares of course. Poor breakfast
Review 17:Location close to the beach Size of the pool Big room Clean
Review 18:The quality of hotel, its facilities and toiletries is not up to 4 star hotel level.
Review 19:Close to the beach, option to have parking and sun lounger (membership fee), good breakfast
Review 20:Beach fees, biking fees, umbrella fees (if you want to be close to the beach), and parking fees. The staff working at the beach's restaurant were very slow at taking orders and at delivering food.
Review 21:Animation, pool, and rooms. People were friendly.
Review 22:Additional cost of beach, which we didn't use but got charged anyway. I simply don't understand why this cannot be incorporated into the room price or you don't get charged if you don't use it.
Review 23:Location, breakfast, staff
Review 24:The bed was not particularly comfortable (2 single beds joined).
Review 25:The hotel looks very well kept even though I was travelling for business and didn't really have time to "scout" around. The room was spacious even if the décor is a bit outdated. It was clean w/nice sea view. Lovely morning breakfast buffet on the terrace facing the sea. .
Review 26:Premises a little rundown mosty on external parts. Beach cost not included. Swimming pool requires cap. Breakfast was a half disater, 30 min before end time food had run out. We asked personnel and the answer was "it was not anticipated" (non era previsto), whatever they meant by that. They catered eventually enough food but this is not acceptable.
Review 27:Extremely kind and helpful personnel. "Grand Hotel" feeling. Excellent beds, perfect a/c. Our room was huge.
Review 28:Stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and although we found it difficult to pin it on any specific thing our opinion was that it was not as good on this visit as the previous visit.
Review 29:The pool area
Review 30:The need to buy the swimming cap. The long siesta time at the pool i.e. no junping from the tramboline between 13.00 - 16.00.
Review 31:Water at the swimming pool was extremely clean, and that was explained both by the frequent cleaning of the pool in the evenings but also by the obligation to use the swimming cap when swimming. The personnel at the reception desk was very kind and helpful.
Review 32:Building and rooms really need a update urgently .
Review 33:Staff extremely friendly even though we only speak English. breakfast was extremely well stocked
Review 34:Wi-fi connection not always working
Review 35:The size of the room and bathroom, the beach facilities and private parking
Review 36:paying extra for the beach chairs and even more when you wanted beds on the beach
Review 37:Nice hotel, clean, friendly staff and private beach.
Review 38:Up costing / surevaluating cost but proper to Italy
Review 39:People / regions / ....
Review 40:no vegetables, late night children's animations
Review 41:best beach service (Palm) among nearby hotels - payable
Review 42:The common areas were kept very well.
Review 43:The room and bathroom was old, smelly and dirty.
Review 44:Didn't like the sound of live music playing away well into the evening, and décor of the room seemed dated.
Review 45:Most of it was OK.
Review 46:Wi fi was not working on day of my visit
Review 47:Excellent rooms very airy and cool good location, good value bar meals at beach bar, Beach superb
Review 48:Gebäude und Sanitäre Anlagen veraltet
Review 49:The bed and pillows were hard. The pool was closed. There was no notification on the web site that that pool was closed!
Review 50:no air conditioning
Review 51:the view was perfect
Review 52:Breakfast was poor!
Review 53:walls a bit thin can hear people talking and other noises ,bed a bit creaky
Review 54:Excellant staff ,food fantastic ,swiming pool.lovely beach right out front
Review 55:Many people's on a beach
Review 56:If you like to stay in hotel this would be the best place.
Review 57:Shower!!!!!! Extra charges for the things that the hotel offers in their advertisement to bring you in, whether you use them or not.
Review 58:Beach area
Review 59:It was our second visit and will comeback next year hopefully :-) Hotel, staff, beach and area....just great.
Review 60:The hotel needs a refurbishment...
Review 61:Breakfast buffet
Review 62:Extra cost for : pool/beach towel, sun lounger on beach, swimming hat for pool ( compulsary) and even bottle of water in room. Also no toiletries in the bathroom (ie shower gel, shampoo) Only one small soap.
Review 63:Lovely pool and loungers. Great position near beach. Nice clean hotel.
Review 64:Off-season is a very quiet time, all beach restaurants closed and notthe same as our in-season experience
Review 65:This is very special hotel at Giulianova Lido which I find comfortableand a great beach location.
Review 66:No coffee or tea making facilities in the room. No Mirror in the main room. An arm chair would be useful in the main room when watching TV or relaxing
Review 67:Spacious rooms, Friendly and helpful staff Good breakfast, Nice ambience,Good location, near to the beach. Good car park facilities. Free WiFi. Clean and good facilities
Review 68:We wanted to go to see some places and not to stay all the time in the same place. But people at reception could not help us. They recommended the tourist office in the centre. Unfortunately they could not help us as well. Better to have computer and sourcing the trips yourselves.
Review 69:Rooms are quite large with big gardrobes and very clean. The beach is excellent. Good service, cleaned sand and water. Not so many people. Most of them Italian. Good place for relax.
Review 70:The hotel is rather old, but rooms are comfortable and clean enough. I would like to come back to the hotel in summer.
Review 71:The staff were very helpful. They gave us good pices of advise. The location is very good, close to the sea. The town is very quiet and snug. The room was excellent with a large balcony and sea view.
Review 72:The demand that all users of the swimming pool wear caps over their hair was ridiculous and serves absolutely no purpose. Nowhere in the world is this required. As a Professor of Medicine at a major medical school in the US I can state without reservation that this has no basis in prevention of communicable diseases. As a former lifeguard with swimming pool maintenance responsibility in my youth I can state without reservation that it does not make the pool easier to maintain. I visit Abruzzi nearly every year and I would be interested in staying at the Grand Hotel di Don Juan again but only if this requirement for headwear while bathing in the swimming pool is revoked.
Review 73:The staff was very pleasant and helpful, the room was well maintained. The marble staris that my couson Nevio Ruggieri built were beautiful.
Review 74:The aircondition capacity was enough to reduce the temperature only to 27° and it was very noisy. The bath in the bathroom was damaged. The meal is average. The 4 stars category can be questioned.
Review 75:Location is excellent, 100 m from the long sandy beach, very good restaurants in walking distance, 10 minutes from the high way and the old town. By car within an hour you can reach the wonderful Gran Sasso, the famous, high hill mountains where you can walking, hiking, biking, what you want. The staff is very gentle, during the day and night programmes were organised. The room is very spacious, we had a beautiful view on the sea and the nice garden with swimming pool.
Review 76:The charge for towels to the bathing pool.
Review 77:Cleanliness, the excellent staff and in particilular managing to cope when the mains water supply was cut off affecting about 10 communes.
Review 78:The room whe get was a 4 person room, without a couch ore chairs, theroom was very dated. We booked a 2 person room with possibility to sitetc. Tryed to get a up grade, this wasn't possible, whe booked another hotel for teh rest of the stay and after we said that we hadbooked an other hotel, it was possible to get an up grade, this was tolate. They charged us for the whole sum for 5 days, they did thiswithout our permission, we have the feeling to be robbed. The hotel isvery dated and in no way a 4 stars hotel, it is like a hotel in the1970 periode in spain.
Review 79:Noisy Italian tenants through thin interior wooden door waking usregularily in the middle of the nights.
Review 80:Good location. Car parking. Not expensive. Staff speaks English.
Review 81:Our air conditioning in the room did not appear to be working, but luckily the nights were cooler. We were able keep the door open to our balcony which also gave us distant, relaxing wave sounds.
Review 82:The location to the sea shore was wonderful. All staff members were very attentive and extremely willing to assist guests.
Review 83:Extra cost for everything... Very poor shampoo (and packaging) and no shower gel.
Review 84:friendly staff
Review 85:need of reconstruction
Review 86:near to beach bicycles to hire bar and pool
Review 87:Wasn't may options for restaurants in he area.
Review 88:Everything!
Review 89:problems with internet
Review 90:service
Review 91:nothing
Review 92:Everything at this hotel was perfect-staff, free parking, sea-side balcony view, large room, good breakfast
Review 93:Staff were most helpful and courteous
