Reviews for Borgo San Luigi

Review 1:The beds were hard but it was our experience that all the beds in Italy are hard as we stayed at multipal properties and faced the same issue.

Review 2:A very beautiful propery with lush vegetation, immaculately maintained. The main building is an old villa and very charming. The newer rooms have been built in a traditional Tuscan village style but with all modern conveniences. The staff went above and beyond in an effort to serve us graciously. The management upgraded our room to a villa with an upstairs bedroom and downstairs living area. The pool is huge and appointed beautifully with the dining room and common area. A gorgeous property.

Review 3:Super nice room in old typical countryside tuscan ex farmers village made of many restructured small buildings... A fairy tale village with a nice park and swimming pool

Review 4:Some furnishings and fittings are ready for renewal. Noise from adjacent room. Some staff in restaurant rather off-hand.

Review 5:Very comfortable bed. Beautiful country location. On site restaurant with good buffets. Excellent breakfast.

Review 6:The restaurant was a poor menu and overpriced, 24 Euros for 2 Sandwiches! The pool is large and nice looking, however was filthy around the edges. The road up to the resort is of poor quality, not tarmacadam and poorly signposted.Would not rate as 4 Star, the hotel is tired and needs better management and upgrading.

Review 7:The initial impression of the grounds etc, room was a Junior Suite and was OK.

Review 8:The bed was very uncomfortable, and the pillows were cheap and very lumpy. Our room had a kitchenette but no plates, knifes, glasses etc let alone anything to cook with.

Review 9:Pool great for the kids they spent 2 hours a day I it. the food was excellent, although they have a captive market. The setting was fantastic very peaceful

Review 10:The insulation of the rooms was absolutely terrible. We could literally hear our neighbours conversations and alarm clocks! When we complained, the staff was absolutely not friendly and did not even try to address our issue.

Review 11:Absolutely nothing

Review 12:My sister and I really love the room.Very clean, meat and tidy.Very spacious for a double bed.i love Lisa ,The receptionist.Very accommodating and cordial. All staff were very respectful and helpful. All you can eat Breakfast was superb. Most of all was the Hotel itself and it's location. It is Nature.

Review 13:There was no wifi signal in our room, which was inconvenient since we had to walk to another building to check emails. Staff was efficient but some lacked warmth and hospitality, could be a language barrier. Thank you though to the manager Mr Stefano who welcomed us and made us feel at home.

Review 14:Beautiful location and hotel facilities, excellent breakfast, dinner was very good too. Room was comfortable and modern. This is an amazing place to use as a base to explore the Chianti region, and a fantastic place to just relax in the sunshine or read a book by the pool in summer. I want to be back soon!

Review 15:The Wi-Fi didn't always work properly.

Review 16:The staff, every one was so polite and always helpful but on top of the list I would put The cook very professional.

Review 17:Bit too far out from the town to travel at night Didn't get the twin room we asked for 6 months in advance, they were going to make up 2 chairs to make a second bed but that wasn't really satisfactory for the prices charged. The room on the web had views out to the garden but we had a room facing a wall and was a walkway for all the other guests. Fridge didn't work and another guest also complained about this, couldn't keep anything cold We felt as we were2 sisters travelling and not a couple, we were not treated quite the same

Review 18:Beautiful surroundings Lovely gardens

Review 19:Room was a dated, sofa bed a bit old, and would have been better without the kitchen which we did not and would not ever use (old)!

Review 20:Breakfast was very good, grounds were lovely and great for kids, pool was fun and relaxing.

Review 21:Room 36 was not good at all. The owner treated staff appallingly and was openly aggressive to them in front of guests. Some maintenance is required on the property to bring it up to scratch. Charging 25 euros per hr for tennis court use is very disappointing. Could be an outstanding place with some attention to detail.

Review 22:Location, friendliness of staff, pool and surrounds, francesco is a real asset, bar staff and housekeeping excellent.

Review 23:I have been traveling for the past 3 weeks and I must say that the staff at this hotel was very friendly and personable. My daughter forgot her swim suit and the front desk managers "Gean Luka" and Francesco took us to and from with their personal car to a nearby store. The staff go out of the way to make sure you are happy and make you feel at home. Francesco and Zymone was especially accommodating during lunch and dinner. I will be back for sure. Every morning I picked a plum off the tree on my way to the pool. Once you book you should contact the hotel directly for any special request. Great place for families with small children. Lots of space to run and play. Grounds are amazing and magical. Enjoyed lying under the trees.

Review 24:The area around is great. Very beautiful Hotel! Great to stay a few days and relax.

Review 25:Poor breakfast. Dining room dirty with spider webs and flies.

Review 26:Quiet location, beautiful big garden, frendly staff........

Review 27:Just about everything else.

Review 28:The greenery was pleasant.

Review 29:rooms are small and dated. wifi connection is terrible.

Review 30:great setting between the trees, and the central point around the pool is very good

Review 31:Very helpful and friendly staff and perfect location in mid Toscana.

Review 32:Discreet elegance.

Review 33:We really found nothing that we could categorize as not being liked.

Review 34:Magnificent setting with atmosphere and ambience. This property oozes charm!

Review 35:The room and the staff very good.

Review 36:Very difficult to find, especially in the dark as there are virtually no direction signs down the mostly dirt roads. The first room we were given, room 11, had a broken and unusable bidet, a wc with a broken seat, shower fitment hanging off the wall & bare wires in the bathroom - two wardrobes each about one foot wide that had to be used with a hook on a stick as they were so high off the floor. Next day moved to room 103. I had booked a deluxe room, not sure that's what we got - room 11 showed a rate of €350 but room 103 showed a rate of €250. When I queried this I was told the rates were only for government regulations and mean nothing. Booking.com had different rates for classic & deluxe rooms. I chose deluxe, but reception told me they only have deluxe, junior suite & suite - who got this wrong? Me? the Borgo or Booking.com? - If required I have photos of all above as proof. The main failing with this hotel is maintenance, and it's such a shame.

Review 37:Layout of Borgo is very nicely done. Breakfasts & Dinners were always good.

Review 38:Was there during easter and the room was a bit hot....as AC was not yet switched on.

Review 39:Great Location Booked it lat minute so the price was really worth it very good breakfast large and clean rooms

Review 40:Breakfast was the same every day - it would have been better to seesomething changing from day to day especially if you stay for more than3 days. The kitchen in the room does not have any utensils, plates orwine glasses (you can get it from the restaurant though).

Review 41:We travelled with two children ages 7 and 10 and stayed at this place inApril. The hotel has beautiful grounds (the pictures are true), the roomfelt authentic. They have a large and well maintained pool. Our boyswere outside all the time - the personnel was very nice and let them dopretty much whatever they wanted. It was an absolute paradise for thekids. You can open the windows and hear an owl at night. I stronglyrecommend a wine tour and a lesson of Italian cooking in CastelloVicciomaggio (worth every cent you pay for it) which is about 40 minride from the hotel.

Review 42:No tea coffee making facilities in room and no utensils only two plasticcups!, Male yelling abusively at staff in kitchen of restaurant onenight, guests not being advised when restaurant will be closed fordinner and up to date list of local restaurants that would be open.

Review 43:Relaxed atmosphere, comfortable bed, dogs, easy access to tourist spots, beautiful setting, gorgeous female waitresses in restaurant wherenothing was too much trouble, late check out upon request.

Review 44:Poor value for money, room quite small and dark for price Restaurant very poor choice of menu for quality of hotel, quality of food and service adequate Bar prices very high compared with all other hotels used during stay in Tuscany

Review 45:Beautiful location, excellent physical facilities ie pool and grounds

Review 46:- Hotel room was booked with a balcony, but we did only get an appartment with balcony after the 3rd night (the suggested compensation of a bottle of wine was never given to us).- high prices for additional sport activities (e.g. 25€ per bike per day; 70€ for a quad) - difficulties to book sport activities (e.g. not possible for the same day, bikes not delivered on time) - no customer relationship managment during the check out (e.g. no "thank you for your stay" or maybe just a friendly smile)

Review 47:The quiet surrounding is a good place to relax. The service at the bar /restaurant is very friendly & attentive. Drinks are even brought to thecanvas chairs.

Review 48:Initially put in a smaller room than booked without a terrace/patio asdescribed in the booking details on booking.com. Resolved the next day,but not without some 'pushing' on our part. Otherwise a fabulous stay.

Review 49:Beautiful resort with easy travel times to key places in Tuscany.Monteriggioni is lovely (5 min), Siena (20 min), San Gimignano (30 min). The pool, resort grounds and amenities were perfect to resolve our jetlag the first day and always appreciated when we returned fromexploring.

Review 50:Very friendly staff and beautiful Hotel. The place is crowded withDutch, German and French. However, the staff of the Hotel manage verywell to maintain an authentic flair and speak to people in Italianunless they notice that the customers do not understand, then they wouldswop because all employees were fluent in other langugages E.G. English,French and German. We spoke to them in Italian and we were one of thefew customers who bothered to do so. We had the feeling they appreciatedour efforts very much and we were treated really like VIPs :) We alsodid the Quad tour and we loved it! The food is very good when you orderà la carte, the buffet was not too impressive. There are many greatrestaurants around in the little villages. Our suggestion is to rathergo and eat there than staying in the Hotel for dinner every evening. Allover a great place which we will certainly return to.

Review 51:Restaurant menu was very limited for a hotel that was a couple of miles form any other restaurant.

Review 52:I stayed at this hotel for a family wedding and the location was beautiful and breathtaking. Had a very enjoyable three nights here.

Review 53:Borgo San Luigi had clean spacious rooms, a lovely setting in thecountry side, very good american breakfasts, and an excellent staff. There was some confusion about the billing of our room in advance so themanager gave us a free upgrade. We are so glad to have had theexperience of staying there.

Review 54:The hotel is beautiful with a good location. Also the room and the facilitiea are excellent. Just the staff at the reception were a little confused and they didn't know we're coming.

Review 55:The food in the restaurant is pricey. But then it is quite a drive tothe nearest town with a restaurant. So this is not much of a complaint.

Review 56:The facilities were very inviting. Lots of green space, quiet and roomyaccommodations, an excellent lounge area, wonderful service in therestaurant, and a very attractive and large swimming pool area. Thebreakfast buffet was generous and diverse, although it remained the samefrom day to day. And did I mention that the service was exceptional? Andthe lounge area, where you could sit by the fire when the temperaturesdropped or by the pool on mild evenings?

Review 57:The hotel and staff were excellent very friendly and helpful

Review 58:ambiance serenity

Review 59:peaceful and relaxing good food and helpful staff

Review 60:Wonderfull site, the pool , excellent staff.

Review 61:diner could be more diversified

Review 62:very friendly staff, nice Location, beautiful site, relaxing

Review 63:Perfect rooms and great breakfast.

Review 64:Food was expensive in the evenings

Review 65:It was quiet, the staff were very nice

The Fine Print
