Reviews for Golfo del Sole

Review 1:The pictures on booking are not showing the reality. We were at first really disappointed with the quality of accomodation. After many complaints, we got a different room, but anyway went home three days earlier.

Review 2:Wifi coverage needs to be strongly upgraded. A water cooker should be provided, when requested.

Review 3:Location is great for holiday with young children. Staff is friendly and responsive.

Review 4:The interior was a little bit old in the hotel room. But everything worked well.

Review 5:Good facilities to play with family. Convient location to go to sea and also having private swimming pool. It was great fun.

Review 6:Totally overpriced for what you get. Size of the room is too small, furniture from the 70's (including television) and the bed was full of dust. We paid EUR 1540 for 1 week but checked out a few days early due to the accommodation (without refund). Normal price for this accommodation should be not more than EUR 60-75 a night.

Review 7:Nothing at all

Review 8:Advertised as complex partly upgraded with rest to be upgraded this winter. We hadn't expected that there would have been no upgrade in hotel since it was built in 1970, very old electrics so we needed special adapters from reception so that we could use the newer European adapters, there was a hole in the wall where one of the bedside lights should have been plugged in. Hot water pressure in the shower was virtually non existent. Both problems fixed when we raised them.Old 1970 box small screen TV with just a few Italian channels, no Wifi in room. Badly chipped and cracked shower unit and old rusting taps so though it looked as though it had been cleaned we wondered how clean it could be. In general the hotel looked dingy and grubby. Was rated as 3 star but 2 star would have been generous. Not worth the money paid.

Review 9:Excellent outdoor facilities with pools, children's entertainment, bars and restaurants and a wonderful beach with the added umbrella and loungers for each room. The staff at the restaurant were superb, friendly as well as working very hard.

Review 10:The rooms are stuffed and smelly. The beds are very uncomfortable. Therooms were not as promised. They charged our credit card 30 hours priorto our arrival!!!!!!!

Review 11:We love the beautiful natural beach

Review 12:We loved all the facilities though it is true that the apartments are outdated. Very friendly staff. Perfect for families with children. We will definitely come back.

Review 13:There was no place to heat baby food in the hotel. No kettle in the hotel rooms. No elevator. Very small television. Rooms need general renovation.

Review 14:Staff was very friendly. Good food. Nice beach + pool area.

Review 15:The nearby city of Follonica is drab and has nothing to offer, especially when you know you have Pisa, Siena and Firenze one hour away by car!

Review 16:Excellent breakfast with a great selection of cold cuts, freshly baked pastry, juices and coffee

Review 17:The whole experience was terrible. When you first get there (after driving a good 10 minutes from Follonica!) by car, there is no indication of what to do with your car, where reception is or what you should be doing at all. Finnaly, following spare signs and asking personnel we made it to the Reception. There is no Wifi in the rooms!!!!!!! The room is so old it's not even funny. It is like it hasn't been refurbished since the hotel opened in the 80s and not properly cleaned since then as well (stains on the wall, floor really dirty and oldest hairdryer ever). The restaurant wasn't appealing and prices were more expensive than everywhere else I have been in Italy so we didn't go. The beach bar was closed by 7pm when we arrived and wanted to watch the sunset with a drink. The breakfast was extensive but nothing amazing and definitely not a 4 star quality. This hotel could just qualify as a 3 star, if so but is very very far from a four star standard.

Review 18:Nice beach

Review 19:What I have to do to buy a house on the beach with a view on the sea?! Change the nationality?!:)))

Review 20:Small paradise with everything you need. Great for very small children also. Very good breakfast!! Nice and clean beach with caffeterie.

Review 21:Good restaurants aren't within a walk range. You'll have to takea taxi to reach gourmet places for dinner.

Review 22:This is one of the safiest places in Europe for beach holiday withlittle kids under 5 Y.O. if you wish to teach them swimming.

Review 23:Breakfast could be a bit hit and miss, unavailability of certain items no matter what time you came down at. The only bar available in the evening was across the road, it was mediocre and you had to endure the in house entertainment which was geared at very young children.

Review 24:Excellent Wi-Fi which was much appreciated by my teenage daughter. The convenience of the beach and the availability of sun beds and parasol on a daily basis was an added bonus. Great relaxing holiday.

Review 25:The object looks completely different from that one at the pictures. It looks like as it was built 50 years ago and nobody changed it from that time. The room was very small, the furniture were very old, the tap and shower in the bathroom were rusted, the TV set was very small and very old, the breakfast was not good . I do not recommend it.

Review 26:The localization is good - it is located at the coast. The place is quiet. It has some attractions for the children and adults as well: swimming pool, animations, the place to ride a bike.

Review 27:The accommodation was dated. The room was dark and poorly lit. The good was of poor quality. The brochure and on line pictures did not match the reality.

Review 28:The beach and amenities

Review 29:Absence of internet connection in rooms, poor restaurant and snack bar

Review 30:breakfast were really bad quality, no possible to get real espresso = in italia?? room was very small, wifi does not work.

Review 31:beach

Review 32:Location

Review 33:We felt the room was very small for the price. There was a strong unpleasant odor in the room.

Review 34:The place appeared to be organized and well-run.

Review 35:Bed and pillows so hard couldn't get comfortable

Review 36:No WiFi in my room Noice from neighbours Early checkout

Review 40:Below average hotel for business travelers. Suited for familys with young children. Average quality

Review 41:Nice location @ the Sea

Review 42:well run hotel complex

Review 43:Nothing!

Review 44:We booked the deluxe room with the view on the sea and it was just EXCELENT!!! The room is modern, newly equipped and very nice and clean. There is little patio in front of the house, so you can sit and relax with the view on the sea and have some snack. The staff is very nice and helpful! You can rent a city bike for free or road or mountain bike for some money. There is nice restaurant and shop just in the middle of the complex. We really had a great time there! Definitely recommend for romantic stay! Free wifi. Breakfast included.

Review 45:This is not a 4* hotel! It hasn't been renovated for years and the whole place looks like from 1990s.All rooms are on the 1st floor and there is no lift. We had to carry all our luggage up the stairs on the arrival. Also we had a small baby with us which meant that we had to carry a buggy up and down the stairs a few times a day. What a huge inconvenience it was (and a safety issue!).Room was tiny. With a cot and buggy in it we could barely move. Also there was no kettle in the room. Sterilising bottles and preparing baby's meals was a nightmare!!There were a few plastic cups in the room that weren't replaced during our stay. We had to wash and reuse them for a week.Staff was not particularly friendly or helpful and very few people spoke English. When we checked in we weren't told where and what time breakfast was, where our room was, etc. also when we asked about the best way to access the beach with a buggy (a lot of stairs at each entrance) they didn't know! We had to find a way ourselves.Food in the restaurant is only ok and quite pricy for what you get. Most of the time we walked down the beach and ate in one of the restaurants outside. There is no room service available and, again, with a baby who goes to sleep at 7-8 pm it was an inconvenience. Either one of us had to go to the restaurant to order food and bring it back to the room so we could have dinner.Menus are in Italian, German and French (no English) so most of time we were guessing what we were ordering (using our very basic German and French language skills!).In some of the hotels bars and cafes we couldn't take food/drinks on the room nor pay by credit card. Again, carrying cash with us all the time was just an inconvenience. We found the hotel uncomfortable, very ran down (needs a major refurbishment), some staff were very unfriendly (waitress at breakfast would put you in a bad mood for the day) and it doesn't really cater for English speaking guests.

Review 46:Nice and clean beach. Each room has designated umbrella and loungers on the beach. A lot of activities for young kids to keep them entertained.

Review 47:Service. Stuff is really unhelpful. I rented delus room in this hotel for night-before-the-wedding, and as a bride I wanted a bit special attitude. Which didn't mean anithing super extra - the possibility of breakfast to be served in a room, to have an iron in a room for one morning. And also we didn't really count on the early check-out (at 10 am), which influenced alot our wedding plan. All in all I didn't feel any support and kind attitude. Moreover, booking.com has sent me reciept for 132 eur per night and I was charged 220 eur per night. Which is really some kind of a mistake, which spoils the whole not good impression.

Review 48:I liked the room itself

Review 49:Very professional and friendly staff starting from the reception desk, continuing with the restaurant and ending with the beach bar staff - very polite, helpful, no problem to communicate in English. Rooms in the hotel were rather older, but kept clean. If you rent bungalow, you are really just on the beach. From appartaments you need to walk through the children-entertainment, pool and sports facilities and then you will get to the main building and beach. Wifi was available in the public areas of hotel + on the hotel beach for free. There are lot of animations and activities to use, it is big resort, where you can spend mostly holidays with the children. Breakfast was good, but rather monotonneous. Hotel has its own private beach where you have reserved place for free with the sun beds and umbrella, and the beach is not so crowded actually = this was very big advantage. Just near the hotel, there is supermercato (convenient for those who decide to cook themselves). From Follonica city center it is app. 1,5 km of walk, but you can rent also a hotel bike.

Review 50:Price for the hotel is quite high for the kind of rooms offered, whereas the bungalows on the beach are fantastic

Review 51:the bungalows on the beach, the sunbed on first line

Review 52:staff at the various restaurants was not motivated and not very friendly
