Reviews for Hotel Villa Laguna

Review 1:We were placed in room 003, which has a view to the street rather than to the lagoon. The bathroom has a big window, not sealed, and it was terribly cold because of that (it was in December). Some things (like radiator in the bathroom, water in the kitchen, safe box) were not working properly. At the breakfast we asked for a high chair but it was all dirty, most likely it was stored outside. There is no parking at the hotel, although the opposite is stated.

Review 2:I would give 6 points to the receptionist lady (her name was Fiorda) who came with a screwdriver in her hands to fix the safe box and has been extremely helpful in general.

Review 3:1) Room 104 had no hot water for the first two days, ( our sons room 107 had hot water! ) when we complained we were told the water is not as hot on the first floor, ( God help the people on the floors above us!! )we were offered room 1 downstairs, a smaller room but the water was hot so all good. 2) The balcony on room 104, for which we paid an extra €20 per day, was in a disgusting state, with loads of bird droppings that were NEVER CLEANED during our stay, photo attached. 3) while I always found the staff very nice, the " gentleman" providing the breakfast buffet " sneered" at me when I asked for some orange juice. Then at 9.50 he said to us " 2 minutes to finish, ok?" I find all of the above to be unacceptable in 4 STAR hotel On a minor note, the hotel tried to charge a €25 extra on the bill for no reason, which I refused to pay.

Review 4:Normally great hotel, we have stayed here several times before. Great location, nice friendly staff, lovely views from the breakfast room.

Review 5:Room very dated with dead mosquitos on the walls around the room. No hot water to bathe/ shower every evening for all 5 days . Cold shower every night, water to cold for bath !! Restaurant food cold and breakfast the same every morning. Not worth the thousand pounds we paid for 4 nights.

Review 6:Stunning location with views over lagoon and Venice.

Review 7:Very steep bathtub to step into for shower and our particular bathroom had a very sloped ceiling so you couldn't stand up in it comfortably

Review 8:Location,helpful staff,accommodations,breakfast

Review 9:Facilities not as good as when we stayed 5yrs ago.problem with hot water and other lesser issues.hotel could do with an upgrade

Review 10:Excellent location and view

Review 11:1. booked end of February and got the worst room possible for begin of September - directly on the street. 2. lights poor, furniture way too much - 5 chairs plus a couch in a small living room! bathroom shower poor. 3. hairdryer did not work, they tried two additional hairdryers which also did not work due to adapter issues, they did not seem to be prepared for such setbacks, took over 30 minutes. finally bought a new hairdryer but could not be in front of a mirror! 4. TV difficult with poor remote control functionality 5. they supplied a water cooker, but no place to plug it in. 6. Sunday breakfast - scores of tables not cleared and re-set for guests. found a table outside but pigeons were feasting on neighbor tables as they had not been cleared. Monday breakfast we were asked to leave the breakfast room due to an event, they provided no help in moving our breakfast to our room. very poor value for money and service atrocious!

Review 12:Hotel is located next to SME Vaporetto station.

Review 13:Poor condition, particularly bathrooms. Pathetic breakfasts. Some staff apparently unmotivated.

Review 14:Excellent location. Spectacular view from rooms facing the lagoon.

Review 15:The restaurant and bar prices high compared to other establishments nearby.

Review 16:The location: beautiful view across the lagoon to St Mark's; right next to the vaporetto stop; walking distance to restaurant and bars; cycling to the lido beach; FANTASTIC airconditioning at the hotel!

Review 17:The promised lagoon view from the room wasn't really a very limited lagoon view small a smallish window

Review 18:Excellent location especially the restaurant terrace with great view back to Venice

Review 19:Bed rock hard couldn't sleep. Hotel dusty and not spotlessly clean (stair carpets v dusty). Worst of all every single fire door was propped open with a fire extinguisher. Very dangerous will never stay here again

Review 20:Location was excellent. Food was excellent.

Review 21:Bathroom a little worn in places.

Review 22:Great breakfast out on the terrace overlooking the lagoon with St. Marks in the distance. A selection of restaurants close by. Effective a/c. Close to water bus.

Review 23:The restaurant wasn't very good. The menu was limited and the food rather ordinary.

Review 24:The views over the lagoon are beautiful. The hotel is ideally placed for the Vaporetto making it very easy to get around. We had a little suite with our own private terrace, which was very pleasant.

Review 25:AC stopped working in the middle of night but the reception staff managed to provide a different room.

Review 26:Good location and very helpful staff. Really enjoyed the stay

Review 27:Hotel a bit tired. Travelling with 2 daughters and there were no mirrors near any plugs or with surfaces to do hair or make up.

Review 28:Location fantastic, could get water bus over to Venice, seemed to run every few minutes.

Review 29:In February we had booked a suite with private garden and lagoon view. On arrival, we found that there was a barge with a crane, cement mixer etc moored outside our window which obstructed our view. We were told we would be moved to another room after two nights. This suite was smaller and was next to our original room so we still had the noise, dust etc from before 8 o'clock each morning. The quality of the breakfast was very poor and not the standard I expected for a 4 star hotel.

Review 30:The location.

Review 31:Breakfast is just so so,not matched with a good hotel.

Review 32:The little garden by the sea is just lovely and enjoyable.the best thing is sitting there in sunset.

Review 33:Hotel a bit dated but that's part of its charm. However not enough electric sockets in rooms and no mirror in bedroom.

Review 34:The location is excellent . It's near the water bus and on the lagoon so breakfast on the terrace was a delight. Reception staff very helpful in giving advice on getting around Venice.

Review 35:The suite included tea and coffee making facilities, but only provided two tiny plastic cups to make them in. Construction work was being undertaken just outside the patio window and terrace, obscuring the view, in addition the noise and dust created by a very large crane and workmen. What should have been a very relaxing time was spent in the hustle and bustle of Venice itself, not something we had planned. The breakfast offering was appalling, with scrambled eggs that looked more like soup and very little choice in the cold selection. The reception staff were helpful and sympathetic, but were unable to help. The rest of the staff were untrained and poorly managed. Having paid almost 600 euros for two nights my view is that this establishment should close down and get redeveloped by someone who is interest in a prime location.

Review 36:We booked the ground floor suite with terrace overlooking the Venice lagoon. There was plenty of space and very private, being separate from the hotel. Being in one of the best position on the Lido, this should have been idyllic. However, this is where the good news ends.

Review 37:Ha, ha! The weather - it rained 2 days. It didn't stop our enjoyment though.

Review 38:The peaceful ambiance, the quality of the decor and furnishings, the fabulous view of Venice from the dining room.

Review 39:The hotel is in need of a major refurbishment as it does not meet 4 star standards. The furnishings are shabby and the fittings are of a poor quality. Cigarette burns on bedside table, plastic cups for tea and coffee, old and very dated bathroom. Breakfast offering is poor with little fresh produce. Way overpriced at 807 euros for 3 nights, only worth half that rate.

Review 40:The location is excellent with lovely views over the lagoon. The staff are very friendly and pleasant.

Review 41:Our 'suite" comprised two small spaces and an a cramped bathroom, it smelled of food from the kitchen exhaust below, the bedroom space was cell-like with a high window, and because of the arrangement it was difficult to enjoy the Venice view from the window in the entrance area. Overall, the place was not welcoming. Badly baked frozen bread rolls for breakfast - dining area staff did the minimum. Car paring can be a problem on arrival.

Review 42:The location was very good in the context of the Lido, which is a peaceful get away from what can be overwhelming visitor traffic in of Venice. The front desk staff were very helpful.

Review 43:Price was way too high! totally overpriced. Not worth the cost. Bathroom had a sloping shower with a wood beam in the roof! could not stand in the shower!

Review 44:location of the hotel...wonderful view on the lagoon Proximity to the water taxis etc.

Review 45:Last available room during a busy Venice week- and I can see why. The Hotel facility and staff are lovely and I like staying on Lido, but Room 3 was very noisy air-conditioning even when off, wifi was not working and TV hummed poorly. Needs a good technician for the prices charged! Maybe just that room, so avoid it if offered.

Review 46:Staff were super friendly

Review 47:Fabulous views across the Lido and very convenient for the waterbus. Strongly recommend getting room with lagoon view. We were 2 adults plus one child. Our daughter had a sofa bed in a separate room

Review 48:The hotel was exactly as it looked in the photos - charming, clean and comfortable. The room we had offered a fabulous view, as did the breakfast room. Staff were very helpful.

Review 49:Excellent location and very good service. Gave us a room with little outside garden for our dog. Beautiful view on Venice from our room and the breakfast place. Celebrated new years at the hotel with very good menu and animation. Really can recommend and will come again.

Review 50:Our living room in which we were sleeping on a sofa bed had really cold, drafty aircon in mid winter. The bedroom in which our kids were sleeping was toasty, as was the bathroom, while we were cold. The wifi also kept dropping out & we had to keep getting new individual codes...a small quibble though when it was free.

Review 51:The close proximity to the ferry stop, shops & cafés. The lovely outlook from the breakfast/ dining room. The breakfast was generous & tasty.

Review 52:TV all in Italian. Couldnt find an English channel. Didnt have chocolate croissants each morning.

Review 53:Decor very quaint beautiful location. Very helpful staff. Waterbuses very effective so made stay on Lido easy access to venizia sl.

Review 54:There's absolutely nothing about this hotel which you might not like. Perhaps some people would consider prices to be at high level - but it definitely is worth the quality of service you get for this !

Review 55:1) Good location, nice views on laguna! 2) VERY NICE sevice - at all levels (reception, restaurant, concierge, etc) - real 5 star service! 3) Very good restaurant & cuisine 4) Free water taxi to Murano 5) Quiet location - high Sleep Quality 6) Nicely decorated rooms 7) Good *and free* WiFi !

Review 56:No parking, parking was organized at a daily fee of Euro 15 at almostone kilometre away. This was very inconvenient.

Review 57:The location is the best, hotel was very clean, daily cleaning, staffare very hospitable and cheerful, always willing to assist. Verystrategic and unique location making movement perfect from there. Goodview of the lagoon, and St Marks Square.

Review 58:Menu for breakfast could be better

Review 59:The location was brilliant as it was are first time in Venice it was great to find the hotel so easy boat from airport to lido the hotel was just a short walk away . Having spent the day in Venice it's great to get back to hotel and just relax and enjoy the views from the hotel bar (Bar staff very good )

Review 60:Aircon: According to master screen on Reception Desk, ours was working properly. It wasn't & when she came to investigate, Receptionist had to agree it was as though the heating was on. She moved us to another (better) room. Access to certain areas: We were denied access to the outside cafe/restaurant for 2 of our 3 days because of the Venice Film Festival. This should have been flagged at booking stage.

Review 61:Great room, pretty efficient Reception service.

Review 62:From arrival to leaving, a 3 day stay, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect exactly as described on the website. The lakeside view was amazing and the restaurant position with the view over to St Marks Square could not have been any better, stunning, and the food and service was first class. If we ever return to Venice we would not even consider staying anywhere else. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 63:Breakfast could have a bit more choice.

Review 64:Amazing view. Fantastic breakfast/resturant/bar area. Fantastic location - 10mins to Venice on boat and boat stop two mins from hotel. Plenty of restaurants on Lido by the hotel. 10kin walk to a nice and big beach.

Review 65:Really hard to find a criticism - I would like china cups in the rooms instead of plastic, but as soon as I mentioned it I was allowed to borrow china cups from downstairs, so not really a problem!

Review 66:We love the Villa Laguna, and always have a fantastic time in this wonderful hotel. My daughter lost her toy rabbit and the wonderful staff could not have been more helpful - he was quickly found!

Review 67:The room was very noisy (the whole building was shaking when busses where passing by on the adjacent road). The suite had only one small wardrobe for four people. The elevator was quite surprised and old. The breakfast buffet had quite limited choice.

Review 68:The beautiful location

Review 69:Our room was located towards the street, and the traffic was quite noisy for someone who is a light sleeper.

Review 70:Great location near Vaporetto station to reach town in 10 minutes. Only 5 min walk to beach and to restaurants nearby. Beautiful terrace with view to City, own pierce for taxi. Personel very helpful and friendly. Cleaning excellent.

Review 71:Mosquitos!!!

Review 72:The location was excellent with a beautiful view across the lagoon. After a busy day with millions of other tourists brilliant to get away from the maddening crowd! The beach was a 10 minute walk away which was great to go to and cool down.

Review 73:Perfect location right next to the lagoon. The restaurant with an outdoor eating and patio area looks across to Saint Marks Square and has a lovely feel to it. Wonderful sunsets from the restaurant and from our room.

Review 74:A great location to stay when visiting Venice. Lido is a great place and the hotel is in a good location - close to the water bus dock and close to several good snack bars & restaurants.

Review 75:Nothing really!! The breakfasts were a bit mean- i might have liked a better fruit and pastry selection but overall it was great and I would return.

Review 76:Loved the views- staff very helpful room v quiet and clean with excellent facilities. Beds comfortable and room well designed. Supper was fabulous with sunset over Venice and was excellent value. Staff all very charming and helpful- could not have been kinder. A great place to stay and provides some clam in this ever crowded city.

Review 77:Nothing! Perhaps a pity that the bar/ lounge area didn't stay open a little later.

Review 78:Lovely hotel. Service-minded and very professional staff. Lovely room with view over lagoon and a small terrace. Comfortable beds. Easy Access. Right beside vaparetto stopp and only 10 minutes over to St. Marks square.

Review 79:Nothing.

Review 80:Perfect location for Vaparetto 55 metres away and then only ten minutes from San Marco square. Friendly, helpful staff. Fabulous views from the outside restaurant area overlooking the lagoon and Venice. Very trusting and rare ethics in a hotel these days.

Review 81:Stunning location

Review 82:the hotel is very good. The facilities are a bit old.

Review 83:the staff was very kind and helpful.

Review 84:The staff serving breakfast was a bit rude.

Review 85:Beautiful location and the staff at the reception were very kind and helpful.

Review 86:Unwanted noises from the staffs in the mornings and nights. It was annoying at times

Review 87:Staffs were friendly, helpful and patient.

Review 88:I did not like food selection, wifi interruption and re-registering

Review 89:I liked staff friendliness, Quite environment, closeness to transportation

Review 90:Perfect location, away from the bustle of Venice, but within easy access. Very pleasant suite with terrasse overlooking the Laguna.

Review 91:Loved the view, the staff were friendly, helpful and polite.

Review 92:We had a beautiful view and the service from staff was 5 star.

Review 93:We stayed for two nights. All stuffs were very helpful. Especially the receptionist was very professional. We would definitely come back again:)

Review 94:Bad wifi connection.

Review 95:The staff was very friendly. Nice hotel. Near to the boats.

Review 96:Shower /bath

Review 97:Easy access to boat taxi . Great water views, great a/c , quiet, spacious, staff very helpful.

Review 98:Staff was fine, but not super interested. Breakfast was meh.

Review 99:Location on Lido, near the vaporetto - stunning views

Review 100:Wonderful hotel in a great location on Lido. Very helpful and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

Review 101:unobtrusive & (sincerely) smiling staff

Review 102:wonderful location, views across the lagoon to Venice, with amazing sunsets

Review 103:Sunset at the bar overlooking Venice - unbelievable !

Review 104:Leaving ? we will be back

Review 105:Nothing was too much trouble , we where made to feel special from the moment we arrived

Review 106:roadworks in nearby Gran Viale not helping local businesses at present

Review 107:Staff brilliant - Carlo very amenable in particular !

Review 108:Location near water buses staff extremely friendly. Quiet and relaxed after bustle of San marco etc.

Review 109:To go to Venice you need to travel by bus boat (10 minutes ride).

Review 110:Nice little hotel with a beautiful view on the Venecian bay. Good value for money.

Review 111:Not a lot of choice at breakfast.

Review 112:The room we had was fabulous - great views across the lagoon and very close to water bus.

Review 113:Apart from the excellence of the hotel, even money-wise, the cuisine was also perfect.

Review 114:The food was great, better than most that we had in Italy. We loved our little suite with a view across the water to Venice.

Review 115:Excellent staff makes you feel safe and warm. The location is so close to water bus station. The view is good.

Review 116:Location and staff

Review 117:Ham and cheese should be routinely offered at the breakfest table.

Review 118:no swimming pool

Review 119:Terrace and view

Review 120:The 'kitchen' which we had to away an extra Euros 60 to use. It's not a kitchen, it's a cupboard with 2. Hot plates and very limited cutlery etc.

Review 121:The proximity - lido island is a great location especially with children. the hotel is well situated on the water and very close to the water taxis which, again, is excellent with kids. Good to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist area. The staff were very helpful and we loved the outdoor dining overlooking the water.

Review 122:The shower from the room above leaked in to our bathroom. Initially we were told this would be fixed however, when the same thing happened the second day we were told nothing could be done as it was a Sunday. We were then offered a different room but as we were checking out the next day it seemed like a lot of hassle to move for one night. It would have been nice to have had the chance to move after the first incident. Overall the hotel was a bit rough around the edges. I know Venice is expensive, but this hotel was not worth the price.

Review 123:There was a great view from the hotel and the bar and restaurant were nice. The location was convenient for the vaporetti.

Review 124:Nothing. It would have been petty of us to highlight any small imperfection found during our stay.

Review 125:We were very impressed with every aspect of this holiday. The location, friendly staff especially in the restaurant, all helped to make this holiday very special. Venice is a magical city, both on water and on foot. There was nothing to disappoint. Thank goodness for digital cameras, we would never have afforded the films!

Review 126:We had a wonderful few days, celebrating our anniversary in Venice in this wonderful and personal hotel. The hotel was great in every possible way, the staff friendly and very helpful. The location is the best you can wish for with only a short walk from the vaporetti that takes you into town. The view over the lagoon towards Venice is breathtaking and its nice coming back to this tranquil spot after a day in town. We recommend this hotel with all our heart!!

Review 127:No complaints. It was an amazing stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Review 128:The staff were extremely help full. The food is amazing as well as the setting.
